The Nanny's Handbook to Magic and Managing Difficult Dukes by Amy Rose Bennett is a wonderful historical romance that I really enjoyed.
This is a Victorian- era historical fiction that also incorporates romance, humor, and fantasy all rolled into one. It is unique, adorable, fun, relaxing, and kept me interested throughout.
Xavier and Emmeline are the perfect (or shall we say imperfectly charming?) duo that lead this novel. I think they are just great.
It seems like it is the first in a new series? I can only hope!
4/5 stars

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 9/30/25.

Delightful, a mix of Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, and fae! A lovely summer read where you can simply forget the troubles of the day and hope for Mrs. Chase to save the day!

This book started off strong for me but then ended up slowing down. The pacing felt like it stopped and started a bunch of times and it was a little harder to get through. I did love the characters! Horatio the Raven was my favorite! The writing felt magical and fun! I just didn’t absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. All thoughts and opinions are solely my own! Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the arc in return for an honest review!

If you love cozy whimsical Regency tales with charming nannies and their adorable charges, you will absolutely love this! I sure did. Highly recommended!

This was really adorable! If you like the idea of Regency Mary Poppins but with a little spice, this is the book for you!

This book was incredibly whimsical to read! The idea of a nanny academy and handbook were incredibly humorous to me and I loved all the attention and creativity that went into the chapter headlines and spellwork. The romance was incredibly satisfying to follow, I deeply enjoyed the trust and understanding that the character's developed between each other. But what absolutely convinced me were the three wards. Harry, Barry and Gary were such a joy to read about and my heart hurt for them while falling in love with them. This is a novel perfect for fans of "the very secret society of irregular witches" by Sangu Mandanna.

This story was so charming and whimsical and funny and lovely and I had the BEST time reading it! This is the kind of cozy story I love.

Recent widowers trying to support her bankrupt father by recently graduate as a nanny. Her first job is for a duke that has managed to go through two others before her. It’s a charming story set n the Victorian era that will have you swooning. A delightful indulgence romance.

I loved this book. Emmiline and Xaviers story was so fun and interesting. I like the time period when things were changing so some of the Regency rules did not apply. The whole idea was amazing. Read this book!

This was just a cute, cosy read. I really enjoyed the premise of the Parasol Nannies and how they look after their charges.
This is a nice, enjoyable read and I want more in this series. Also, Horatio is definitely my favourite character.

The Nanny’s Handbook to Magic and Managing Difficult Dukes is pure Regency fantasy gold—a sparkling blend of magical mischief, slow-burn romance, and laugh-out-loud mayhem that had me absolutely smitten. Think Mary Poppins meets Howl’s Moving Castle with a dash of romantic tension that will leave your heart fluttering and your cheeks sore from grinning.
It's not just a romance, it’s a full-on magical adventure. From exploding teacups to magical pranks and whispered sabotage, the plot sparkles with surprises and stakes that keep the pages flying. The children are lovable little agents of chaos; the raven is a scene-stealing delight, and the magical world steeped in etiquette, charm, and enchantment—is vibrantly imagined.
What really sets this book apart is the tone. It’s whip-smart and whimsical without ever losing heart. You’ll laugh at the outrageous situations, swoon over every quiet moment of vulnerability, and cheer Emmeline on as she conquers spells, scandal, and snobbery with grace and guts.
The Nanny’s Handbook to Magic and Managing Difficult Dukes is a romantic fantasy romp of the highest order. Whether you come for the duke, the magical mayhem, or the nanny with a backbone of steel and a wand in her pocket, you’ll leave with stars in your eyes and joy in your heart.
