Niall's first book was amazing, but this one, was so much more emotional for me. The first book, I knew about half the dogs, so this time, seeing all my favorites and reading their stories again, happy tears, sad tears, so many feelings. Cindy and Eve- my favorite best friends. I loved experiencing all the stories in more depth than you get in just social media posts and hearing all about the improvements they are making with Happy Doggo.

Niall, if you're reading this- today you are up to feedings 1,250 street dogs; you've funded 82,063 sterilizations; and you've re-homed 79 dogs; I hope that's a different number than someone else sees when they are reading!

I have to admit, I'm read about Niall Harbison before and remember him mentioning Tina in his prior book, so I went into this ready to have my heart hurt, but also, a strong urge to forsake everything I have known and built to just go to Thailand and help Niall with his cause. If you are like me and need to know about the people doing good things for animals, but also want to cry a little while reading, this book is for you.

I've been a fan of Niall and Happy Doggo since reading his first book, Hope. This book, Tina, is a continuation of sorts. It talks about other dogs he has rescued and saved in Thailand. As a follower of his Instagram and YouTube channel I always become somewhat attached to the pups that he's featuring. Follower or not you will get attached to both the pups and Niall after reading his tales and how open he is about his own struggles in his day to day life.

This book feels just like Niall talking to you and telling his story. Very authentic and his dedication to the dogs just shines through. I hadn't read Niall's previous book and didn't know anything about his work with street dogs in Thailand before reading this, and I'm very impressed! I'm glad Tina is so honored with this book and with the new hospital that's going up.

I love Niall's first book, Hope, so I knew this was going to be good too. It didn't disappoint. He is an amazing man doing amazing things for these dogs. Tina has left a huge impact on him and has launched him forward with his wonderful idea of building a vet hospital for the street dogs.
Any dog lover will enjoy this book. I appreciate that he mentions pit bulls are big, goofy dogs if they're raised right. And I love that he promotes dog adoptions rather than buying from breeders.

Dog rescue has always been a part of my life so I was excited to read this book and curious about being in completely different country. All in all, great book, very fast read.

Sweet baby girl Tina... Such a special dog. I was first introduced to Niall's Instagram right around the time that he found Tina. I was so drawn into her story, and I've followed Nialls's adventures daily since then. I've laughed and cried (really ugly tears) watching these dogs and I'm just so attached to everything that Happy Doggo does. Reading this book was just like checking in with my friends--I care more about the dogs in this book than I do most for most people. This story is about the legacy of a very, very special dog who deserved more than our cruel world gave her and our human desire to to better. My family has always had pets. I was born with a dog who protected me from intruding grandparents and people who wanted to wake me up from my naps. My mother jokes the reason she got married was to get a dog. My nephew tells everyone that he is a "Friend to the Animals" and constantly introduces himself to pets as that. And they respond. The death of my last dog and my last cat probably ended my pet life. Both deaths were so tough to handle, even now I see them both. Both of them got me through the death of my father. Without them I would have been even more of a wreck. To love and to lose a pet again, I really can't do it. So I understand the wonder, the pain, the love and frankly sometimes even the magic an animals can bring to a person. There have been many stories about the power of pets, but I don't think I have ever read a book that showed the power of love changing things so radically for so many. With a legacy that continues on. Tina: The Dog Who Changed the World by Niall Harbison is about a dog, a man that learned much from her, and how love, inspiration, and giving a darn can change so much for so many people.

Niall Harbison had come to Thailand to forget a lot of nasty things about himself and to try and find a future without addiction. Harbison had ideas and plans, but being surrounded by poverty, and feeling the weight of it all on him, Harbison wasn't sure what he could do. Until he saw a golden retriever chained to a post. Golden retrievers are not the usual street dogs that are found in Thailand, something Harbison had become familiar with. Something about this dog was different and Harbison had to act. Harbison called the god Tina, but did not expect Tina to last. Neglect had caused numerous health issues. However Tina was a very positive, loving dog. One would think that Tina would treat humans as Tina had been treated, but the opposite was true. Tina loved life, and that love of life began to rub off on Harbison, making him think about things in new ways. To make plans that seemed far over the rainbow. To share his life, his journey and to share about Tina to the world. Starting an organization that helps street dogs all over Thailand, and organization that keeps growing, in remembrance of one brave dog.

I first became aware of Niall Harbison from Instagram. As usual I was pretty far behind the curve as many of my animal-loving friends were not only followers, but were supporters as well. Harbison has a natural way of telling a story, and it comes across in the writing. The book is a story about a dog, but it is much more than that. There are so many things that are wrong with this world, it almost seems insurmountable. However acting locally, might mean soon that one is acting regionally, and maybe even globally. There is a lot to enjoy in this book. Stories about Tina, helping others, dealing with demons. There is also a lot that might bother people, stories of cruelty and pain. However one should see the evil in the world, because only then does one have to power to fight it.

Not a typical dog story. No crazy mutt getting into weird adventures, or coming back from heaven to help its owner. This is a real story with real people in a world that allows unreal things to happen. This is a story about love, and how one little creature loving another enough can change things for so many. I look forward to more stories like this from Niall Harbison.

Niall's story (and Tina's) is both inspiring and emotional. A tough personal journey took Niall to Thailand, where he works to spay/neuter and save as many street dogs as he possibly can. He is making a huge difference in the lives of dogs, and people around the world are connected with him. Tina, along with all of the other dogs he mentioned, touched my heart. Their stories made me tear up and hug my own dog a little closer. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC.
