A young Irish woman escapes from her home in Ireland and travels to London . She manages to obtain employment in the wardrobe department of a small London theatre. The people that work there either as actors /actresses, producers etc all have an unsavoury side. The main character Mairead struggles with her weight , appearance and lacks effective communication skills . She however has an eye for creating clothing and excels as a seamstress. She lacks confidence but with time and better guidance she will go far . On a quick visit home to attend her grandmother’s funeral a clearer picture of her dysfunctional family and a traumatic sexual encounter emerge and one can see how they may have played a huge factor in Mairead’s confidence . This visit home exposed some past events that seemed to rattled Mairead for the better . Her return to London saw a more vocal person who began to stand up for herself and others .
