I like to thank NetGalley and the publisher allowing for me to give an early read.
I was one of the people who purchased the first book when it was an indie book. I also reached out to the author and told her how much I enjoyed it and I hoped her book would be published. Months later she submitted it and now the first book is out with gorgeous spray edges. I am very happy that I got accepted.
Book 2 picks up right after the incident that ended book one. Capt. Shade is who? That's who she has to wrap her head around - the person who saved her was actually the Reaper, the crown prince. It appears Will, him and her are all on the same team and their mission is to infiltrate the castle, faux fealty, and figure out if the Prince's intended is possessed by the evil queen.
The story had me guessing and I couldn't tell who was a friend, foe, foe turned friend or friend turned foe. I also couldn't tell if her heart was torn between two men. It was perhaps one of the better written love triangles I've read. Though, there are some reveals down the line that have me pretty shook and make me rethink everything.
Family secrets, broken hearts, destinies, they are all in this book and more. I'm really excited for the third book. It's a shame it will be the last one. I d think this could be a four part series. The world building deserves more attention, as does the 'pirate' aspect. I want to see her do more pirate things and it looks like in the third book we'll get it.

I enjoyed night weaver so much that when I saw this i squealed. This is a fantastic follow-up to the first book. Cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy.

Starchaser by R.M. Gray is the highly anticipated sequel to Nightweaver that had me completely hooked from start to finish. This YA fantasy is bursting with high stakes, action, twists, and secrets.
What to expect
-Pirates
-Fierce FMC
-Magical beings
-Blood curse
-Love triangle
-Secret-filled castle
-Murder mystery
-Hidden Identities
We reunite with all the characters I adored from Nightweaver, and meet several new characters as well. R.M. Gray does a fantastic job with expanding the world building in Starchaser, as the stakes soar even higher.
The writing was fast paced, addictive, and emotionally rich. And the love triangle? It was absolute perfection! The yearning, the tension, and the banter was everything I wanted and more.
Our FMC Aster really shines in this book. She is bold, determined, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves.
I can’t stop thinking about that ending! It is the perfect set up for the next book.
A heartfelt thank you to NetGalley, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and R.M. Gray for the eARC of Starchaser.

Ahh, thank you so much to Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and NetGalley for gifting me an ARC of definitely my most anticipated sequel! And thank you to R.M. Gray for writing this amazing book! I literally jumped in excitement when I received it—so grateful! 💗
Okay, I don’t even know how to write this without turning it into a full-blown essay (haha). I have so much to say, but I’ll try to simplify what I felt while reading. This book picks up immediately after Nightweaver ended, and wow, it was fast-paced in the best way possible! There was always something happening with Aster, William, and Titus. The writing? Absolutely stunning. R.M. Gray has a way of describing scenes between the main characters that makes everything feel beautiful. Yes, this is a love triangle, and yes, I love it! The settings and outfits were described so vividly I could picture every gown and suit.
Aster Oberon—I love her. She’s strong-willed, brave, and delightfully stubborn. All her scenes with her family were so heartwarming. I especially loved her interactions with her siblings. They were so cute and sweet. As an only child, I find sibling dynamics so fascinating and adorable to read about. William Castor is sweet, caring, and protective. And Titus Anteres... he’s my favorite. God, I love him. We got to see so much more of him in this book, and I devoured every word R.M. Gray wrote about him. He’s sweet, witty, overprotective, and so attentive to Aster. It made my heart ache in the best way!
The romance? Delicious. Aster and William’s moments were tender and swoon-worthy, but I’m also obsessed with Aster and Titus. There were so many incredible scenes, but there’s one in particular I cannot stop thinking about. It’s engraved in my brain forever.
As for the side characters, so many new ones to love. Henry Castor, in particular... I was sobbing. He’s so precious and always worrying about Aster. Now about that cliffhanger. Why? I’m not okay, but I’m pretending I am until Book 3 comes out. After everything that happened in this book, I am not okay, but I loved every second!
Some things I absolutely loved: 🌸
⚔︎ pirates, and gothic castles
⚔︎ love triangle and slow-burn romance
⚔︎ banter that made me giggle
⚔︎ extravagant, breathtaking balls
⚔︎ men blushing
⚔︎ the yearning
, the tension, and the angst

This stunning sequel to "Nightweaver" picks up right where the first ends. Aster is still a pirate on land and is reeling from the kiss Titus gave her and her feelings for Will. While the threat from Owen has seemingly been taken care of a larger threat looms. Morana has cursed both Aster and Will and time is running out. Only Morana's blood will save them both. Aster is beset on all sides by changelings, assassins, people who are compelled, and her conflicting feelings for Will and Titus. She is not sure who she can trust and it doesn't feel like she can trust anyone, including those closest to her. Will she be able to save Will and herself or will time run out?
I really enjoyed this sequel. It was fast paced and kept me wanting to turn the page. The chemistry in the love triangle is great and the action scenes are well thought out. The romance is kept clean and this would be a good book for an upper middle school or high school library. There is kissing and holding close, but nothing beyond this.
