Such a great book! I loved Kip and Amelia and all of the fun villagers of Guilford. This did have a tad slow start, but very quickly things picked up and it was difficult to put down! I loved how everything played out and hope there are more time slip novels! 4.5

I felt this was a bit more of a light read than the first in the series, but such a sweet love story. Because Kip is going to work as an actor in a historical reenactment, it takes him much longer to be clued into the fact that he has traveled back in time 200 years. I ended up commiserating with him as he slowly realized he won’t see anyone he’s known his whole life ever again. If he and Amelia hadn’t found each other, it could have been an even harder struggle for Kip, having no identity or form of livelihood, but things fall smoothly into place. Besides Kip and Amelia, the villagers were my favorite characters, especially Mrs. Finch. I loved how the villagers banded together to help and protect Amelia and formed such a strong sense of community near the end. Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing, I received a complimentary ARC copy with no obligation to post a positive review. The thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Echoes of the Sea” by Sarah M. Eden is an amazing tale of a modern-day actor, Kipling, being swept into the sea when a storm suddenly breaks, and when he is pulled from the sea, he finds himself in a time far different than when he went into the sea. Time traveling stories can be so tricky to write, and I feel like the author did a great job weaving the plot together. Kipling is thrust into this strange world, 200 years before the time he believes it to be. Meanwhile, Amelia Archibald has been forced to live on Guilford Island, according to the strict rules of her grandfather’s will. Amelia faces an impossible task, not to mention, she is surrounded by an unpredictable sea which often traps her on the island for days. Kipling is brought to her door, and we follow the story as Kipling discovers he has traveled through time and discovers that Amelia needs help. This story is full of rich characters, good conflicts and resolutions, emotions and intrigue. I was compelled to keep turning pages and to keep reading! Time traveling stories are not frequently on my shelf, but this book might have changed that for me. The author did such a great job with the characters and the plot line that I am really wanting to know what happens to everyone next. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first time travel book I’ve read in awhile, and now I want to read more of them, because I enjoyed it so much. (I may go back and reread book one!) This trope can be difficult to manage, but in true Sarah Eden fashion, the steady pacing of the story and the humor of the characters carries you through to the end. I absolutely adored the personalities of the various village people who come to Guilford Island to work on the house…Mrs. Finch, Smudge, Mick, Mrs. Jaggar, Marsh…they form such a great ensemble cast, united for a common cause. This would make a great multi-part television series.
The gentle sweetness of the relationship that develops between Kip and Amelia is the crowning glory of the narrative, of course. He is so gentle and protective of her, and she can’t help but fall in love with a man who treasures and respects her in a way that she’s never known before. They develop such a precious friendship, and their mutual support is what make the relationship work. Kip’s consternation at finding himself in the past, mixed with Amelia’s difficulty in believing what had happened to him, puts the reader “in the know” in a way that somehow makes the story more fun.
Overall, this book is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it!!

Sarah Eden' Storm Tide series has a very different flavor to her Jonquil and Lancaster series (both firm favorites of mine). But her talent for immersing you in the timeline as if you were there with the characters, and for creating characters that feel so real you wouldn't be surprised if they walked off the page is evident in every page of this novel.
My favorite part of these books is how there are people who KNOW. They don't make it obvious, they allow space for the displaced to come to terms with what's happened, but they know. Brilliant.
I do wish that we had gotten to know Amelia more; I felt like I understood Kip quite well by the end but still have questions about Amelia. She seemed so determined to believe well of her uncle, with seemingly very little reason for such determination.
Mrs Finch might well be my favorite character of this series so far. I hope we get to see her again. Though I did flinch whenever she wasn't using her "proper" accent, as I expected Amelia's uncle (or worse) to be around every corner when that happened.

Echoes of the Sea by Sarah M. Eden returns readers to the coast known for wild storms, green flashes of lightening, wild happenings, and time travel occurrences. Kipling is definitely down on his luck and in a rough spot. I really like his friend and how well he supported and encouraged him when everyone else seemed to have turned away. Amelia is the quiet and docile female who loves to surprise you with her strength and tenacity. Amelia is the poor relation, reliant on others who is set up to fail. Thankfully, fate intervened and proved that love has no boundaries, not even time. Kip washes up on Guilford Island right when Amelia needs a miracle. The two get to work immediately, not wasting any time, to aright the cottage and revive the dying village. The themes of redemption and perseverance are strong and well written in this sweet love story. There are also elements of learning to be at peace with who you are and where you are and learning to allow others to help when needed. There are moments of humor threaded throughout in addition to the deeper truths woven into the story. I am really enjoying the Storm Tide Romances in the Proper Romance Series.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley, and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

With vibrant characters and a wonderful setting, Sarah M. Eden's latest foray into time travel romance is sure to delight. The side cast of villagers are an excellent supporting cast, not sidelined at all. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and found the conclusion highly satisfying!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

i’m not a fan of time-travel genre but i will read anything written by Sarah Eden 👑
i loved the characters - main as well as side - and the plot was likeable although i’m surprised that it ended without any drama 👀 in the first book, there were a few twists but this one was quite straightforward!!! i also felt bad for Kipling but his ending with Amelia was satisfying!!
thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the copy!

I was thrilled to get back into the Storm Tide world with this second installment of the series. A setup where one can be tossed decades or centuries into the past or future, centered in one quirky little corner of England? Sign me up.
This was a fun outing, although I will say I thought the first book in the series was stronger. This one has a modern character being transported back to Georgian times while thinking that he's just on his way to participate in a historical re-enactment, so a LOT more page time has to devoted to overcoming his skepticism, and that feels like it slows down the plot somewhat. Also, even though it ended nicely, I still had the feeling that there were some loose ends... but if that means there are plenty more books coming in this series, I'm happy enough!

Sarah Eden always writes books that are a lovely escape, and this one, with the added element of time travel, is an extra fun escape! Kip and Amelia are likable characters, both struggling to find a place to belong, and, naturally, they belong together. They work side by side to transform the island estate, while Kip comes to grips with the reality that when he washed up on Amelia's shore, it was also 200 years in the past!
Any time travel book requires a healthy suspension of disbelief, so just dive in, and enjoy!
I received an ARC via netgalley, all enthusiastic opinions are my own!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Kiping gives this story life, and the unique way that the author uses historical reenacting is brilliant. Kip manages to time travel but without knowing it. A good part of the book has the main hero totally clueless as to what has happened-and for the plot it works! Amelia is a determined to do her best no matter what life throws at her and I really admire her character. The romance, while predictable, is simple and sweet. There are a few twists and turns that I was not expecting in the plot but I really couldn't put the book down. There are some pieces that seemed rushed and a little thrown together, especially at the end. Overall this is a quick read with a unique take on time travel. This is my favorite of the series so far.
4.5 Stars.
"I received a complementary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review."

This book was every bit as sweet and endearing as the first in the series. The only reason it's getting four stars rather than five is because, for the first 25% of the book, the MMC was exceptionally dense. It started to get a little irritating. But once he figured out his situation, the book got so much better. I adored the FMC. The fact that she has a physical disability, requires a mobility aid, and loves the garden made me relate to her so much. I definitely recommend this book to those looking for a sweet, wholesome story.

Sarah M. Eden proves again she's a master of multiple genres with "Echoes of the Sea". The second installment of the Storm Tide series, this novel features hero Kipling Summerfield, who inexplicably finds himself in Regency England. Conveniently he's dressed for the period so his physical self blends in, but for the rest...
To receive her inheritance, Amelia Archibald must move to Guilford Island to satisfy the rigid requirements laid out by her late and cruel grandfather. Set up to fail and expected to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks, she nevertheless rises to the challenge. Amelia is assisted by Kip, who's a little late to the party, as it takes him some time to realize he's not in a reenactment. This is rather amusing, especially when some locals "in the know" question his mental acuity. Their confusion regarding the American Kip's British accent is humorous as well. Amelia and Kip's romance develops at a lovely, believable pace. One bad actor goes to great lengths to see the will voided.
Eden's prose is a delight. She's created a wonderful world with engaging characters and picturesque scenery. I look forward to my next visit. The first work of the series is outstanding as well.
Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for an ARC of this enjoyable tale.

This book is the second in a series, but could be read as a stand alone. This time traveling book was a interesting look at 1800 England and it's rules and class structure. Down and out actor, Kipling finds himself thrown back 200 years, but because he was headed to a historical theme park to work he doesn't realize it for some time, believing everyone is just in character. Amelia is stuck on an Island for six months in order to meet the requirements of her grandfather's Will to gain her freedom, but because she can't leave she also can't improve it which is another requirement. Kipling comes to the rescue. The characters are fun and the romance is sweet. Highly recommend.

This will be another hit for Sarah M. Eden. Echoes of the Sea is a great second installment of her Storm Tide series. I loved that this time the protagonist came from modern times. It was funny to see how Kipling and Amelia reacted to differences between modern and past norms.
I can't wait for the next book in the series!

In the last couple of months I have been more open to reading dual timeline stories which is an improvement because I was very against them in the past. This novel was a pleasure to read because I enjoyed the storyline of a modern man down on his luck getting sent into the past and finding a way to appreciate his life. I haven't read the first book in this series but I will give myself a reminder to look into it in the future. The setting and the characters of this novel were right on point.
In modern times we are introduced to Kipling who is a down on his luck actor. With no other prospects he makes the journey to Guilford Island to take part in a historical reenactment however a storm has different ideas and somehow he ends up in the early nineteenth century. However, at first he believes he is still in his current time period and that the actors are being very serious and diligent with their roles.
Our heroine from the nineteenth century is a young woman named Amelia who feels smothered by life on the Island. However, when she meets Kipling things begin to change. The more time they spend together their relationship starts to bloom but there is there is the conflict of Kipling's own life that questions if the relationship will last.
I received an arc copy from Netgalley and all opinions are of my own.

In "Guilford Island," Kipling Summerfield's journey from Hollywood glamour to the rugged shores of a historical reenactment is nothing short of captivating. The loss of his once-in-a-lifetime role sets the stage for a transformative adventure filled with unexpected twists. When a sudden storm propels him into the care of a mysterious lighthouse keeper, the island's historical charm becomes a backdrop for a deeper exploration of identity and reality.
Kip's initial perception that those around him are merely players in an elaborate performance is compellingly challenged by his encounter with Amelia Archibald. Her quiet strength and resilience shine through, making her a truly unforgettable character. Amelia's own struggles, trapped by her grandfather’s will on an island she detests, add layers of depth to the narrative.
The chemistry between Kip and Amelia is palpable, as they navigate their respective fears and pasts while working together to save Guilford Island. Their bond evolves beautifully, blending humor, warmth, and tension, which keeps readers engaged throughout.
The story expertly intertwines themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery, culminating in an impossible choice that leaves readers breathless. Kip’s journey from Hollywood to a life he never imagined is not just a physical transition but a profound emotional evolution.
Overall, "Guilford Island" is a beautifully written tale that is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys romance, adventure, and a touch of mystery. Highly recommended!

England, 1803
After losing the role of a lifetime, Kipling Summerfield is forced to take a lesser role as a historical reenactor on England’s Guilford Island. But a sudden storm changes everything, casting him into the waters, and he ends up on Guildford Island, just not in his present time.
Amelia Archibald must prove to her Uncle and her grandfather's solicitor that she can adequately manage her inheritance by overseeing the estate on Guilford Island. Still, she isn’t permitted to leave it, which leaves her at the mercy of others. And she’s to expect unexpected visits from her Uncle and the solicitor to see what she is doing with her time on the Island.
Kip is reading from a journal that he thought was part of the reenactment, but while the writer of the journal is certain it is 1692, he is informed it is 1773. Still, it takes a bit more before Kip is convinced he has time-traveled. He is determined to help Amelia not fail, at least not in her uncle's eyes, and show him that she will not fail at this bidding of her grandfather from his grave, taunting her.
I loved the sense of community that evolved to help Amelia purposely succeed where she is expected to fail. Kip is slowly falling for Amelia and wants to help her. Smudge, a young man whose grandmother was from the future, is willing to help Kip encourage the villagers to come to Guilford Island. It’s more than Amelia can imagine because with Kip, she finally had someone who believed in her.
I so enjoyed Echoes of the Sea! Such a balm to my heart. What can I say when this is something that Sarah M. Eden wrote, and I am firmly of the opinion that nothing she ever writes will be anything short of wonderful!
My gratitude to Netgalley and Shadow Mountain. All opinions expressed are honest and mine.

I have read (and loved) very nearly all Sarah Eden's books and this one is up to par with her previous works while also being completely unique! Kipling is a struggling actor who is suddenly thrust into a time period two hundred years before his own time--and because he thought he was performing in a historically accurate tourist attraction, it takes him a little while to figure out his unforeseen travel! Amelia is locked on an island surrounded by the sea she hates in an effort to claim her inheritance--but the stipulations are demanding. Together, can they work out a new life for themselves that includes each other?
I enjoyed Kipling's easy-going nature that was a perfect foil for Amelia's sweet but (understandably) anxious personality. Their banter was more sweet than cunning, which is a fun change. I adored Mick and Smudge and the other villagers of the isle. I also thoroughly enjoyed the unique accent of the country people; I've never encountered that particular accent and it was fun!
Great for a summer beach read (although it may make you cautious to enter the water). Highly recommended for a light, easy read.
Rated PG for mild peril
--clean romance without explicit content
--no language
--very mild potential violence (unrealized)
--mild peril
I received this eARC free from NetGalley. My opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

Echoes of the Sea is an excellent addition to Sarah M. Eden's new time travel series. This one involves time travel from present day to the early 1800's - so it feels a little more familiar than the first.
The atmosphere of this novel is stunning. The forbidding coastline, the tempestuous storms, the misty coastal fogginess ... It was so easy to picture their surroundings in vivid detail.
The protagonist, Amelia, was born with a twisted foot, and she navigates life with a cane. After her parents died in an accident, she spent much of her childhood (and now adulthood) depending on the goodwill of her relations. When her mean-spirited grandfather passes away, his will offers her independence -- if she can survive its conditions. Enter Kipling.
When Kip travels back in time, it's by accident - on his way to a historical reenactment gig - at the lowest point in his acting career. He's emotionally and physically spent. The poor man thinks he landed in some intense method acting camp. It's a hilarious, and pretty brilliant (albeit teensy bit far-fetched), way to draw out the character's excessive bafflement while still feeling new.
The daunting conditions of Amelia's situation give Kip something to focus on as he navigates his losses and grief. His good spirit counterbalances Amelia's weariness, and together they learn what "home" and "belonging" really mean.
This title lightly builds on the previous, but you could jump in at book 2 without confusion. Ms. Eden outlines the time travel mechanics within this story as well, and we only get 1-2 passing mentions of pieces relevant to book 1.
I will say that Sarah does not shy away from bittersweet endings, and this one hit me a bit harder than is typical. There was also some wibbly-wobbly time questions that weren't quite answered to my satisfaction. I kind of hope that these seemingly standalone stories end up not being siloed and she fills in a few more blanks as the series progresses. I'll also say that there was a moment of dishonesty at one point that made me more uncomfortable than it should have, even leaving me unsettled after finishing the story.
Language: Nothing to mention
Relations: Nothing more than kisses
Violence: Minor. Non-graphic.
TW/CW: Parental death (in past), fear of water, talk of drownings/death, twisted family relations.
This is a genuinely sweet, enjoyable, atmospheric, cozy title, and I look forward to picking it up when it releases. Already eagerly anticipating whatever we have to look forward to in book three! Thank you, Author and Publisher, for an advance copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.
