This audio book was a great escape on my daily walks. I loved the fact the author added the medical issues that can arise with diabetes (especially type 1). The romance was good and I did appreciate the flashbacks to the past. I think this is a good read for anyone who likes enemies to lovers or past life romance. Really enjoyed the narration. This does include spice and language.

Enjoyed this title and hope the print edition adds recipes! It was a great read, loved the chemistry between the characters and I look forward to more by Timoti!

This was such a wonderful debut! It’s sweet, well written, and just a fun time. I honestly cannot wait to see what Timoti comes up with next. Oh, and I really enjoyed the narration!

I really appreciated the type 1 diabetes representation in this one. I have several family members with the diagnosis who are so excited to pick this one up! I loved ellie and Alec together, their chemistry was fantastic and I really like seeing their individual character growth.

This was an adorable debut romcom! I absolutely loved the fast pace and the enemies to lovers and fake dating tropes and how they played into the story.

I was rooting for Ellie from the start as she parted ways from her family to follow her dreams of starting a bakery for those who have type 1 diabetes like her.

This book had a good balance of humor and heart and was a joy to listen to.

This is one of those books where it seems like the author was focused on the condition (Type 1 Diabetes) more than the feel of the book or the character development. Everything felt forced and flat or over the top and unnatural. I don't force myself to finish books that I'm not feeling so I stopped 25% in. Other reviewers seem to like so if you are interested in a Type 1 Diabetes Romance, give it a try.

This book was refreshing. The main female character was unique and interesting. I wanted her to find love and succeed from getting out from under her parent’s shadow. The main male character was a great match but the amount of times he pushed he away was a bit much for me. I am glad they finally found their connection, but I would have traded one back and forth for a little more time at the end with his family.

Overall, I would recommend.

i love seeing medical diversity in books and i love when it’s constantly being realistic, like with our fmc always checking her insulin and her monitors. i loved the unstable relationship of her family from the point of view that not everyone has a happy family or has family members that care enough to understand you.

Eunice Wong did an amazing job of delivering this book in the audiobook form. i really appreciated all the accents and different voices to differentiate all the characters.

but for a romance book, the romance did absolutely nothing for me. it just felt lack luster for a fake dating & childhood friends to lovers trope. i personally am also just not a fan of miscommunication especially when it’s in the case of “oh i liked you.” and “oh i liked you too but i couldn’t tell you cause ___”. i genuinely found it a little hard to root for or really care for their romance especially when it’s been so obvious that they clearly like eachother from early on. (also that bathroom scene when she’s in the shower and he doesn’t see her??? how?? why???) idk i just don’t really care about them.

Salty, spice, and a little bit nice

This debut romantic comedy was deliciously good. The first 30 minutes of listening to this I was invested. Deeply and uncontrollably invested and needed to know what happened next. This was an easy read. I was slowly going through life as a new mom and trying to figure out how to get back into reading and finding myself again. This book helped me get back into my love of listening and reading again.
Ellie is a bright and witty and trying to prove herself and she is easily to root for. Her family always wants to put her down and use her diabetes as an excuse for basically anything. Which is so wrong. After a huge fight with her mother and had enough of her controlling family. She flees, starting over and chasing her dreams. Opening up a bakery with sugar free options. Making magic into baked goods. But as she made it to her new life things didn’t turn out how she would think. Things were falling apart and not going right until she makes a call to her bother. Her bother helps her but she isn’t going to like it. And boy she didn’t. The man who broke her heart 10 years ago waltzing back into her life. Trying to save the day. As things progress Alec the man she always had been in love now also needs help. They agree to work together then after be done. But as things go on their feelings for one another grow.
I won’t say more, but I need to say this was delicious, sizzling and the tension goodness it was just so good! Just oh my goodness this was so delightful. The family, the friendships. I truly enjoyed. I was screaming at this audiobook, my emotions were with Ellie. Ellie you are amazing, strong and oh so awesome. You I will always root for. Thank you NetGalley for this! Narratively, the pacing starts slow, but once the story hits its stride, it's hard to put down. The audiobook, in particular, read by Eunice Wong, shines with lively narration and distinct character voices, adding a layer of energy that makes the story even more engaging.

Secondary characters like Ellie’s friends and family round out the story, too.

It’s sweet, spicy, a little dramatic, and completely charming. I’ll be watching whatever Cynthia Timoti writes next.

A debut fake dating, second chance, forced proximity, Pride & Prejudice retelling romance that has fantastic disability rep (she has type 1 diabetes) and tons of secret mutual pining. I loved this on audio narrated by Eunice Wong and highly recommend it for fans of books like Only and forever by Chloe Liese or Drive me home by Carly Robyn. This was a cute book. I would give it 3.5 stars. It’s a fun read and a good debut for the author. The mother is truly awful in this book. If you have family trauma, this could trigger you. I did get frustrated that the brother and the protagonist’s best friend were so passive with how disrespectful the mother was. It was a wonderful depiction of a strong female character with T1D, which I was grateful for. I got the audiobook arc for this story. The narrator was great, but could not do an Australian accent. It didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story though. This was a cute book.
