I listened to Everything’s Coming Up Rosie and think I spent extra time driving just to keep going.

Although she’s only mid twenties, Rosie’s life isn’t going the way she’d hoped. Her acting career has stagnated and she’s showing people to their seats in a theater instead of being on the stage. Then an opportunity arises to work as a director at a retirement community in Door County, WI. It’s not Broadway but it’s a theater paycheck. Even if her actors are a little unusual.

As Rosie tries desperately to step into a directing role, the handsome physical therapist who’s responsible for sets proves a significant distraction. And I really loved the entire story. The secondary characters are off the charts great and used cleverly. The descriptions of theater life are spot on, and no surprise there as the author runs a youth theater with her husband. As the musical develops, so Rosie’s dreams become clearer but with much more in the way. I read a LOT. I couldn’t guess which way things would work out. There were several opportunities for the plot to take a predictable turn and it didn’t. This is a thoroughly enjoyable story and I was sad when I reached the end.

I received an excellently done audiobook copy of Everything’s Coming Up Rosie from the publisher via NetGalley. The views are all my own.

I really love this author. Her books are always such a delight and I love stories of found family. Would absolutely recommend this one.

We LOVE theater in my family , so I immediately was drawn to this book based on the cover and description. Theater nerds like me will enjoy the musical references and the quirky messy characters that accept each other as they are. The story has a romantic sub plot but the book is mostly about chasing your dreams, finding your passion, and the importance of friendship and connection.

Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The main character was lovable, and the rest of the cast of characters were just as enjoyable.

Rosie’s life is not going the way that she hoped it would when she takes a job offer that she didn’t remember applying for. Because of this, she discovers that the job has some unexpected surprises. As she goes throughout her summer, the job starts to grow on her as do the people she finds herself surrounded by.

Coming Up Rosie was a cute story about friendships and what it looks like to change your dreams as you go through life. I really appreciated the multi-generational friendships represented in the story. I listened to it as an audiobook and thought the narrator was fantastic. She did a wonderful job with the characters, and I felt that her voice truly matched the character of Rosie.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 ⭐️

It’s so pleasing when an audiobook narrator’s voice seems to perfectly match the book character! I loved the narrator for this book and she made listening to this book extra fun - truly represented Rosie’s fun-loving and bubbly personality so well!
It was fun to get a deep dive look into the world of theater and I especially enjoyed the inter-generational relationships. That seems to be a lost experience in our modern society but one that I think is so beneficial and valuable!

The elements of the story I didn’t enjoy were more personal preference things: characters that live in a deceptive manner because they’re afraid of revealing their “true selves” and friends who force an online dating profile onto you. There was also a bit more innuendo and suggestive dialogue than I would expect from a faith-based publisher!

Overall a fun and light read; could be especially enjoyable for those who feel as kinship to the stage.

😇: Christian publisher (ThomasNelson); no faith activity and very light on any clear religious themes
🤐: no language
😍: a few steamy kisses and some suggestive dialogue

Thank you to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh and Thomas Nelson and Zonderman Fiction Audio for a copy of this ALC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This felt like such a love letter to theatre. I never pursued theatre beyond middles school but it was such a formative part of my growing up and I still hold it dear so I definitely resonated with this story. This journey of self discovery was so amazing and definitely fit the vibes of a 20 something that was lost and had to change course. This was such a great reminder that it's okay to not know what you want out of life and it's never too late to chase your dreams. I loved the fact that there was a romance but it was almost second to the overall journey Rosie undergoes. I really appreciated that part of it. However, Booker was very swoony and I LOVED his character. He was steadily helping Rosie get out of her shell and was never too pushy when he was trying.

Walsh does such an amazing job of creating such engaging and funny side characters. This is only the second book by Walsh that i've read and I look forward to reading many more by her. I had a BLAST with this one.

Narration: Georgina Marie did such a great job encompassing Rosie's character and giving her emotion where it was needed. She truly brought the characters to life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the advance copies—both audiobook and eBook.

I listened to the audiobook and also read the digital version, and I can confidently recommend both formats. At first, I wasn’t sure about the narrator—her voice sounded younger than I imagined for Rosie—but as the story progressed, she completely won me over. Her delivery was expressive, funny, and full of heart, and she really brought Rosie’s personality to life.

This is a warm, funny, and surprisingly touching story about figuring out who you are when life doesn’t go the way you planned. Rosie is a relatable, messy, endearing protagonist, and I loved watching her journey unfold—from feeling left behind to finding meaning and purpose in the most unexpected place.

The setup—directing a Cinderella production in a retirement community—is quirky, but it works. I laughed out loud multiple times, and the emotional beats landed just as well as the comedic ones. This is a great choice for anyone looking for a feel-good read with substance and charm.

This book was a wonderful journey with Rosie as she discovers who she is and what she really wants. She ends up in a place she doesn’t expect, and realizes that’s exactly where she’s supposed to be! I loved her interactions with all of the other characters along with her romance with Booker. I absolutely loved watching her friendship with curmudgeonly Arthur develop along with the way she poured into and helped Dylan just by choosing to give her a chance.

My only frustration with this book is that it’s set in Door County, one of my favorite places on earth, but there is nothing Door County about it. None of the towns are mentioned or visited, and Lake Michigan isn’t visited or mentioned once! Why?! Ok rant over :) This made me sad but couldn’t affect my rating because the story was wonderful.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All thoughts are my own!

Sweet and Swoony 4.5⭐️

Audiobook:

🌷This narrarator is Rosie! The way she delivers every line really makes you feel like you are either in her head or right next to her. Her interpretation of every character is amazing, the voices are top notch. It felt like it was a full cast rather than 1 person.

In General:

🌷This was such a sweet story! I loved how chaotic and quirky Rosie is but not in an over-the-top silly way but just in her genuine theater-loving way. She has a heart of gold and a thought process that will make you laugh for sure!

🌷The overall story feels natural, and realistic and every character leaves you with a lesson or pondering about something.

🌷As for Rosie and Booker, I absolutely loved their story, it is full of actual connection, courtship, and love. Booker is a man that bares it all out, while Rosie is more of an onion you have to peel back slowwwwwly but Booker is the perfect man for the job.

I couldn’t put this book down! I am not a musical theatre kid and can’t carry a tune or act to save my life but I love watching theatre.

I had the option to have the ebook and the audiobook and the narration paired with reading was an incredible experience. It truly felt like I was emerged in the book. And with the characters. I loved the crossover with her hockey books. But it wasn’t in a way where you need to read them first. Just if you have read them you would appreciate the nod to them.

A big thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for both copies of the book!

Everything is Coming Up Rosie is a perfect summer rom-com. Rosie is still young(ish) and determined to pursue her dream of acting. Multiple rejections and a trip home are starting to uncover the layer of fear and uncertainty she’s been able to hold off. Seeing her best friends navigate their current season in life has her wondering if she has what it takes to make it after all. I love that in her despair she accepted a job, without reading the fine print, and shows up to find the unexpected. It is the unexpected that wakes her up out of her autoplay stupor though and allows her to start seeing things through a new lens. The supporting characters, especially a pretty cool physical therapist who happens to think her arrival is just what the community needs, are a great blend of personalities. Together, they provide opportunities of growth, seeking truth, having fun, taking risks, finding and tearing down her barriers, and re-discovering her why. I loved the support from her lifelong besties as well as all the new friends, of all ages, she encounters all the way. While there are some serious moments of self-reflection, there are also plenty of laughable moments and opportunities to be present and smile.
In addition to the book, I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. I thought it was well delivered, captured the multiple characters distinctive characteristics. The cadence was spot on and the narrator’s voice was pleasant to listen to.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

While listening to this lovely romcom I found myself giggling! Rosie is a lost soul and it’s so inspiring to hear her journey through to the other side of finding what’s a good fit for herself. The supporting characters are SO fun! This story gave me The Holiday vibes but just the Kate Winslet side of the tale. The narrator!!! Truly became Rosie and did an excellent job with all the other voices and had great comedic timing. Made it really easy to listen too!

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie follows Rosie Waterman, a woman with a big dream: to become a working actor. But life doesn’t seem to be following the script. When she loses both her apartment and her job in one day, she does what Rosie does best—throws herself back into the world, chasing the next opportunity. But how do you let go of a dream that’s rooted in your soul?

This book hurt me in the best way. It made me giggle, tear up, laugh out loud, and want to break into song. It stirred up something deep—belief in dreams, love, and the kind of hope that feels like sunlight after rain.

My favorite characters? Rosie, of course. Plus her amazing friends, a wonderfully complex teenager, a swoon-worthy love interest, and a delightfully grumpy old man.

Why am I being a little vague? Because this is a story you need to experience for yourself. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Also the end is amazing.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley, but that doesn’t affect my review. I don’t sugarcoat my opinions—I only recommend the stories that genuinely touch my heart.

This was such a cute story! I loved the setting and the quirky characters Rosie met along the way. It was really sweet how Rosie pulled Dylan out of her shell and made her see that she was talented and loved. Arthur was another one that Rosie was able to find the good in despite his grumpy exterior.

The romance with Rosie and Booker was sweet and perfect. I liked how they both felt comfortable together from the start and were able to share more about their hopes and dreams, as well as some things from their past.

Some of the character's names were too similar. I got confused between Marnie and Maya (and there was also a Matty). It didn't help that they were in the same friend group but weren't major characters throughout the book.

I appreciated the author's note at the end about how dreams can change over time and there's nothing wrong with that.

The audiobook narrator wasn't my favorite. I think it could have benefited from a male narrator as well.

Overall it was a great book I would recommend to anyone, especially my mom!

Courtney Walsh is a go to for me for books that make me happy. She is the master of uplifting stories and this one was another winner!

There was a lot to this story: living your dreams, finding your groove, friendships and romance. It had it all.

I am also a sucker for inter generational characters and this book (which was mainly set at a retirement community) just added to my enjoyment.

Great characters, decent plot and the audio narration was fantastic!

Highly recommend for lovers of up-lit and also recommend to listen to this one. I give this one a 4.5/5

Sometimes it seems nothing is going your way and “fake it ‘til you make it” becomes more of a lifestyle than an encouragement to keep you going. In the upcoming novel Everything’s Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh, Rosie Waterman has hit an all-time low as a struggling actress and finds herself lying to her best friends to keep up the facade that she’s actually a successful NYC actress. In desperation, she applies for countless open jobs and takes the first one offered — without realizing it’s for a theater director at a senior retirement community! Now it’s time for Rosie to make the best of her strange situation, while managing a budding romance with the retirement community’s attractive physical therapist, Booker.

This book is women’s fiction with a sweet and funny story and a side of clean romance. The banter is fun and believable. The seniors in the retirement community add a layer to the story which I really enjoyed. Theater lovers especially will enjoy many of the references and situations in this novel. Last year I read one of author Courtney Walsh’s other books,The Summer of Yes, and found it inspirational and amusing. She has definitely found her sweet spot in writing these kinds of stories.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed Jorjeana Marie’s narration. This book is set to release June 10, 2025. Thank you to NetGalley, as well as Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio, for the ARC audiobook. All opinions are my own.

This is an honest review of an ARC audiobook. Thank you #NetGalley #CourtneyWalsh #ThomasNelson #JorjeanaMarie

An aspiring actress finds herself penniless, homeless and jobless and applies for any job available. She’s been embellishing her career to her friends and family. She takes the only job offered to her, a Producer of Cinderella in at regional theater, only to find out it’s not a regional theater, it’s at a retirement community and the actors are the senior citizens who live there.

There is so much more to this book; zero spice romance, character growth, tough decisions and beautiful friendships.

Jorjeana Marie Does an amazing job with the narration.
