First I would like the thank NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio for the early audiobook.

I liked this book but didn’t love it. I found the side characters in the book the stars. I always enjoy Courtney Walsh books and this was no exception.

I liked Rosie’s story and loved how the story focused on Rosie’s growth and less on the romance. But because of the that I felt the chemistry between Rosie’s and Booker lacking a little bit.

I listened to the audio and although it was good I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the book instead.

3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4 for this review.

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh is a fun, cozy story about courage and growth - filled with all the emotions that come with both. Rosie is a struggling actor trying to make it in New York City. Desperate for anything, she accepts a job offer without looking into the details. This marks the beginning of a humorous yet touching journey, and you can’t help but love and root for Rosie as her story unfolds.

Throughout the book, Rosie encounters several people who leave a profound impact on her. One of my favorite quotes comes near the end, when someone offers her this advice: “Things are never easy - not the things worth anything, anyway.” I loved how Rosie took the time to reflect and explore the direction her life needed to take - and I was pleasantly surprised by the decisions she ultimately made. The story is filled with thoughtful, relatable life lessons.

I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook, narrated by Jorjeana Marie, who did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. Her narration added charm and depth to the characters, enhancing the overall experience.

I give this book 4.5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, feel-good read that will leave you both laughing and appreciating the depth of the characters. This was my first book by Courtney Walsh, and I can’t wait to read more!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio, and Courtney Walsh for the advance audio copy!

A big thank you to NetGalley and publisher for a copy to review!

I absolutely love the premise of this book and was really excited to pick it up. The side characters were the absolute highlight of this book and kept me invested.

Unfortunately, I didn't feel the chemistry between Rosie and Booker. This book focuses more on Rosie gaining confidence and growing as a person, rather than forming a romantic connection.

Oh wow! Another great read from one of my favorite closed-door romcom authors! I had all the feels, most especially connecting deeply with Rosie as a character and totally loved Courtney Walsh's love letter to the theatre. Booker is so sweet, and I found it hilarious that it took Rosie until chapter 10 to realize the specifics for her job as far as the cast with which she will be working. Rosie's development as a character really validated my own healing and growth process, having switched careers within the library world recently. The audiobook was wonderful. And I have so many "audio highlights" (if that's even a thing): my two current favorites are Rosie: “I stop the fire hydrant that is my mouth.” and Author note: "Changing course isn’t giving up. It’s OK to walk away from something good if your gut tells says to walk away…. Dream big dreams, beautiful soul, but let yourself reimagine them every once in a while. It’s the only way to make sure you don’t miss out on what God has for you."

As far as the audiobook version, I did find a glitch. In track 38, around 83.6% into the novel, starting at the 03:17 minute mark and ending at 03:32, it sounds like one of Rosie's passages is read as if Booker says "I can't believe I survived," to which Booker should respond "You did more than survive. You were amazing. I think your cast respects you even more now," but the voices are reversed.

I have read a few books by Courtney Walsh and I was so excited to get this ARC! ECUR was amazing - so heartfelt and sweet! I absolutely adored the story and fell in love with all the characters. The romance was sweet, and the friendship with the former drama teacher was just the cutest thing. I loved this book! The narration was also fantastic!

Thank you again for the ARC!

Courtney Walsh delivers another heartwarming and witty romance in Everything's Coming Up Rosie. With her signature charm and emotional depth, Walsh introduces us to Rosie, a quirky yet determined heroine trying to revive her floundering acting career—and perhaps her love life, too.
While a few plot points felt slightly predictable, the engaging characters, sparkling dialogue, and uplifting message more than made up for it. A cozy, feel-good read perfect for fans of clean romance with a dash of sass. Rosie’s journey reminds us that sometimes, life blooms in unexpected ways. 🌸

I loved the audiobook of this sweet story! The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life!

Sometimes when the world feels like it’s on fire, comfort can be found in the hug of a good book. You know those types— the kinds of books that are warm and fuzzy, featuring lovable side characters, and set in a quaint town riddled with charm. And this is exactly the type of book Courtney Walsh is best at writing. Hers are the ultimate cozy, heartwarming reads, and Everything’s Coming Up Rosie is certainly no exception. Once I met the gang, and the small town in which they live, I felt my mind ease almost immediately.

What I love most about Rosie, as well as Walsh’s other books, is that they tend to feature older characters, with more wit and wisdom than most, and who usually end up stealing any scene they are in, more often than not. Usually, these dynamic characters help to create that sense of found family that is also a huge part of why her books function like literally, literary hugs. I also appreciate the self-transformation her MCs experience because they are never over the top and unrealistic. These characters could, in fact, be us, the readers.

And while her traditionally published books tend to focus more on self-discovery and growth through the friendships the characters develop, let us not forget they always include a super swoony romance subplot sure to set your heart aflutter. Booker was a fantastic counterpart to our heroine Rosie, and their friends-to-lovers arc was the cherry on top of this charming story.

🎧 Perhaps an outlier opinion, but worth noting just the same— I am not sure why this is, but I struggled quite a bit with the audio. I’m not sure why exactly, because the narrator wasn’t bad by any means. But there is a monotonous tone at times, that made it a little harder to get into during the first few chapters. While it eventually became less of an issue, I’d probably recommend the physical or ebook over the audiobook.

Thank you Thomas Nelson for the advanced copy.

🌹 Everything’s Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh

📚 Plot Snapshot
Handsome, grounded physical therapist Booker and quick-witted aspiring actress Rosie form an unlikely alliance during a chaotic week-long wedding retreat to sabotage their matchmaking friends—only to discover unexpected sparks as they navigate nosy guests, community antics, and personal breakthroughs together.

🖋️ Writing Style Vibe
Fast-paced and delightfully theatrical, with sharp dialogue, laugh-out-loud humor, and the heart of a stage play.

❤️ My Highlights

✨Rosie & Booker’s Banter: Their repartee crackles with energy—fun, flirty, and full of depth.
✨The Theatre Lens: The book gives a realistic glimpse into the life of an aspiring actress in NYC—balancing dreams, disappointments, and survival.
✨Musical Theatre References: Small, joyful nods to theatre culture that make any fan want to queue up their favorite soundtracks.
✨Found Family & Community: A core theme—how finding the right community can bring healing, purpose, and identity.
✨Dreams & Pivoting: Loved the reflection on when to let go of old dreams and how to embrace new ones.
✨Side Characters: Especially the older guests—wise, endearing, and sometimes heartbreakingly lonely. Their presence brought a multi-generational richness to the story.
✨Emotional Undercurrents: Grief, abandonment, fear of failure—all handled with sensitivity and grace.
✨The Ending: Full of hope and beautifully earned. Perfectly tied together without being overly tidy.

🤔 What Fell Flat (if anything)
Nothing major—though a few moments dipped into slightly exaggerated farce, which might not appeal to everyone. But overall, it works with the tone.

★★★★★ — Re-read worthy. A warm hug in book form. Keep and recommend!

💭 My Thoughts
Courtney Walsh delivers more than just a romance—this book is about rediscovering who you are through the people who truly see you. It’s a celebration of theatre, found family, and the kind of love (romantic and platonic) that encourages you to grow. Whether you’ve been on stage or just loved from the audience, you’ll find something to cherish here.

I love Courtney Walsh! Her characters are so relatable and I loved Rosie. Also, Arthur, Bertie and Daisy. I loved Rosie's journey and everywhere she went along the way. And Booker!! Such a great read. This narrator did a great job! I loved how she became Rosie!

First of all, thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio, and Courtney Walsh for the audio ARC. I LOVED listening to Everything's Coming Up Rosie.

I gave this book 4 stars, and I really loved it; there was just something holding me back from giving it 5 stars. Rosie is a quirky character who will burrow her way into your heart. You'll love all her references and her unapologetic nature.

I loved listening to Rosie's journey of finding herself and her new dream. She was so caught up in her original dream, and I love her pivot. Also, I love how she struggled to be honest with her friends and realized that life isn't a race among friends.

Booker will make you swoon! As he is described, he's a cross between Scott Eastwood and Glen Powell. I audibly sighed. What a combo! But he's not just good looks, he's driven and knows what he wants.

Some side characters I really enjoyed were Arthur and Connie. Arthur is a grumpy and snarky retiree who eventually warms up to Rosie. Connie is our little matchmaker and runs the whole community. This book is filled with funny and quirky characters who make this story whole.

The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is that I wasn't a fan of the narrator. She was great for Rosie's voice but struggled with others.

I am a fan of Courtney Walsh! I love that she writes clean and sweet stories. This one was just okay for me though and I'm not sure if it's because I listened instead of read the story. I didn't feel a huge connection to the characters. It was definitely quirky and funny, but not sure I'd be jumping to recommend it.

Thank you to Netgalley, Courtney Walsh and Thomaston Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I love Courtney Walsh books! I always feel warm and fuzzy after reading one of her books! Her stories are always heartfelt and make you think about love and how you’re in general. If you haven’t read a book of hers yet, you need to!!

Rosie is a struggling actress hiding her career progress from her family and friends. She is applying for a bunch of jobs and lands one as a director of a production of Cinderella in Wisconsin. When Rosie arrives, she finds out the theatre is in a retirement community and the actors are all senior citizens!

When new challenges arise, Rosie has to learn to adapt and move forward. She meets Booker who is the PT there, and he challenges her to open up more. She also meets many interesting members of this community, including Arthur who seems grumpy but Rosie comes to learn much more than she could ever dream.

I love the connection Rosie formed with Arthur; it got me teary eyed at the end of the story. And Booker, swoon! Who doesn’t love a man who is kind, supportive and good looking!

💭 I loved this book’s theme of dreams and what they look like for us in life. Rosie asks Booker, “And you don’t feel like you gave up on your dream?” “Nah,” he says. “I just got a new one.” And they talk about pivoting and shifting yourself if you need to. Rosie is having a hard time coming to terms with where she is in life, and I feel like that is soooo relatable at various times in our lives. I love how Courtney was able to address that theme with the side characters and how they influenced Rosie. It was just perfect!

🎧 𝙉𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 🎧
Jorjeana Marie did a great job narrating Rosie’s character. She made Rosie’s sweet, goofy, fun personality come alive. She was easy to understand, and the dialogue from the other characters was also easy to listen to. It was enjoyable to listen to this an audiobook!

4.25⭐️ Cute, easy read. The quirkiness of Rosie was everything!! Booker just letting her be herself and totally into it was so sweet. Can’t wait to read more from Courtney Walsh.

5⭐️ narration from @jorjeanamarie_ !! You made Rosie come to life; and I felt all her grief of not feeling good enough, her determination to do better for everyone/herself, and the absolute gems of sassiness and quirkiness.

Rosie just wants to be an actor and pay her bills. So, she is on the hunt for a job and to be a real adult. When an opportunity to direct a production of Cinderella becomes available, Rosie has no other options. She doesn’t expect it to be the theatre of a retirement community and everyone auditioning is from said community. Leading her first production since college won’t be her only challenge. Rosie will have to win over the hearts of the retirees and save the theatre. Can she prove herself to everyone and herself?

Thank you @netgalley, @thomasnelson, @zondervan, and @courtneywalsh for the opportunity to have an advance listener copy.

4.5⭐️ this book was so cute! 💕 perfect for all the broadway lovers out there. i adored following rosie on her journey of self-discovery—from feeling unsure to becoming a woman who knows her worth. her transformation was beautifully done.

i was completely obsessed with her relationship with booker 😍. he knew exactly what he wanted—rosie, in all her quirky glory.

the theatre setting might’ve been my favorite part! i felt like i was right there in the middle of casting and backstage antics. it was magical.

also? the side characters stole the show. i fell in love with every single one of them—especially arthur! this book honestly made me want to retire somewhere just like this whimsical place.

💫 a phenomenal book by courtney walsh—i’m officially a fan!

🎧 jorjeana marie was rosie. she captured her vulnerability and inner monologue beautifully. while i wish there was more variety in her character voices, but the emotion she brought to rosie made up for it.

I know I’m in the minority, and so many others loved this book. However, I think it might be time that I move on from Courtney Walsh. As someone who is the same age as Rosie, I felt like she was so naive for her age. Really felt like an older young adult book, not an adult one. I just didn’t mesh with this story at all.

Rosie has dreamed of becoming an actor her entire life. She’s in New York, going to auditions, hustling like so many others - yet never quite getting close to the roles she longs for.

Then, out of the blue, she receives an email offering her the chance to lead a regional theatre. It feels like a lifeline. But when she arrives, she’s thrown for a loop - why is everyone around her… so old?

Turns out, the theatre is inside a retirement community. And her job? To stage a full production - with a cast made up entirely of seniors.

At first, the story moves slowly. Rosie’s original friend group feels underdeveloped, and I worried the book would stay on that shallow path. But once she enters the theatre world and meets the cast of unforgettable elderly characters, the narrative absolutely comes to life. Their quirks, warmth, and chaos were easily the best part of the book.

I’ll just leave you with this gem of a quote:
“Oh my. That’s a lot of sexy puppets.”

What I didn’t expect - and appreciated most - was the underlying exploration of what it means to dream. When do you keep chasing the goal? When do you pivot? And is that pivot a failure, or a quieter kind of evolution?

This book made me laugh more than I expected, and think more than I intended. A warm, funny, and surprisingly honest reflection on ambition, aging, and second acts.

I listened to the audiobook. The narration was adequate but I do wish there were more distinction between male voices - 20 year olds sounded the same as 70 year olds.

Thanks NetGalley for providing the ARC audiobook for review

Rosie Waterman's dream of becoming a working actor isn't working out. When she's offered a job as the director of a regional theatre's production of Cinderella, she jumps at the chance. But when she arrives, she quickly realizes that the "regional theatre" is actually in a retirement community, and the "actors" are actually senior citizens with no acting experience whatsoever.

This was quite the shock for Rosie but she soon got into the thick of things. I loved the variety of characters present in the community. Even Booker, the handsome physical therapist who was so supportive and patient. Rosie accepting her unconventional life trajectory was beautiful.

The narrator did an awesome job portraying various emotions in the book. I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Everything’s coming up Rosie was such a fun and exciting read. When I read the synopsis to this book I was instantly drawn to the plot. An aspiring actress hoping to make it big in theatre is offered a new position as a theatre director for an upcoming production of Cinderella with no job in sight she journeys on and accepts the role but upon arrival she discovers the job position is to direct the play for a retirement home. Through her stay she discovers more about what drives the residents to journey on and new discoveries about herself she is yet to realize. This book was such a fun book it has drama, some great romance with a golden retriever MMC and such a great journey to self discovery and following your dreams. I really felt so touched by this story and really enjoyed the overall feel of the book. I also really liked the narrator and felt she did a great job at connecting with the characters. Overall a good read and do recommend for a good feel romance book.
