Great crime thriller series, I know when I pick up one of this authors books I wont be disappointed.... Morgan attracts danger wherever she goes, when a body is found in a river they realise the clothing is stuck on a branch, when it's released it starts to float down the river so Morgan dives straight into the freezing water to recover the body.. Theo the vicar is ha ing problems after he was viciously attacked and left for dead..... womens bodies keep turning up in the river and they are both found by Hettie, Morgans aunt. Is someone on Morgans inner circle committing the murders??? I couldn't never tired of this series, with Morgans antics. Highly recommend

Love this series. Morgan has more lives than a cat!! Another fast paced, easy to read but not not easy to put down book.

This book was really good . It kept me guessing right till the end and I still didn't guess whom the killer was. Really looking forward to reading more books by Helen phifer.

Twisted Bones is book 15 in the Detective Morgan book series by Helen Phifer and another fabulous book in the series.
When Morgan’s Aunt Ettie is walking through Covel Woods she finds a body of a woman in the river with one Skeletal hand. She is shocked to the core. Detective Morgan Brookes rushes to the scene. Thinking that the woman just fell in the lake. She thinks it is an open shut case but further inspection that identified as a homeless woman went missing seven years ago. Morgan is so determined to find the killer when another woman goes missing. There is a race against time to find her and discover the gruesome tale behind it.
This is another unputdownable read more gruesome that the other stories in the series. But still same loveable characters that we have come to love. This is a great read with its addictive storyline and the quality of the writing never falters 5 stars from me.

Always look forward to reading this series and this did not disappoint, I love Morgan and the team, another fantastic action packed read full of drama and suspense. Great characters and brilliant storyline.. More please!

this series is so addictive and love catching up with the characters. morgan Brookes is on her day of at a health spa very much enjoying until Wendy gets the phone call. Morgan goes with Wendy as it's her aunt Ettie who has found the woman's body in the stream. Someone has taken a woman and freeze her they need to find the killer but this case so many suspects but no evidence it's a game of finding before another is taken.

Nice and twisty, with lots of action. It is one of those books, a bit like a thriller or horror film, where you find yourself almost shouting at the screen: 'for goodness sake, don't do that!!'.
Most of this talented author's work gets a five stars from me, this one only four as it felt somewhat rushed towards the end, and it did leave me with a few questions about how certain things got moved from Birmingham to the Lakes. But the 'reveal' was a stunner.

Firstly I would like to thank netgalley and Bookoutune and the fantastic author Helen phifer for an early copy of her book to read.

Detective Morgan Brooke’s is one tough lady. This is book 15 in the series – and they keep getting better and better. She doesn’t stop until she has all the answers and the way her brain works putting the scenarios together is just mind boggling. I am a little sad that I have finished and I cannot wait until the next book to come out. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC – I was so honored to be chosen. #HelenPhifer #TwistedBones #NetGalley

Top notch investigative thriller with plenty of twists, a well-developed team, and complex plot that will keep you turning that page well into the night. You really can't go wrong with this series, and if you haven't read them all, it can stand on it's own too.

You know that electric thrill when you open a book and instantly know you’re not going to move until the last page? That was me with Twisted Bones, Book 15 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series by my absolute fave and book community friend, Helen Phifer. 🙌
Let me start by saying this: I am ashamed to admit I’m a new fan — I only discovered Helen through The Vanishing Bookstore (which was 👏 phenomenal 👏). But now? I'm a Morgan Brookes superfan, and I will absolutely be binge-reading the previous 14 books in this series. Consider me hooked for life. 🕵️♀️🔥
🦴 The Premise: Mysterious Bones, Cold Cases, and a Race Against Time
The book kicks off with a haunting scene: moonlight over a quiet river, a splash of silk caught in the reeds, and five thin bones rising from the water… 😱
Morgan Brookes is pulled into the case when her beloved Aunt Ettie stumbles upon skeletal remains near her cottage. What looks like a tragic accident quickly unravels into something far more sinister. The victim, Martha, was a homeless woman who vanished seven years ago, just after stealing baby formula — was she a mother? Where is her child?
With chilling echoes of another missing woman — schoolteacher Aria Burns — Morgan suspects a twisted predator is back. And when another body turns up, it becomes a frantic race to piece together the truth before it’s too late…
👮♀️ Why I’m Obsessed
💖 Morgan Brookes is EVERYTHING. She’s gritty, witty, and so deeply human. Her sense of humor is spot on, her heart is huge, and the way she approaches each case with equal parts logic and gut instinct? Total badass vibes.
💬 The banter and camaraderie in this investigative team are next-level. You can feel the family dynamic among the detectives, and it brings so much warmth to such a dark subject matter. Helen Phifer has this magical ability to make you laugh in the middle of a murder investigation — a true gift! 😂
🧠 The twists are sharp, the pacing is breakneck, and the emotional layers (hello, that baby subplot? 🥺) add such depth. I couldn’t stop turning pages — nearly finished it in one sitting!
🌟 Final Thoughts: 5 Glowing Stars
This is storytelling at its finest — gripping, atmospheric, emotionally resonant, and filled with characters you want to root for until the very end (and beyond). Twisted Bones releases on May 21st, and you better believe I’ll be shouting about it from the rooftops.
🎉 THANK YOU to Helen Phifer, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the early access to this gem. Helen, you’re a top-tier author and an even better human. I am so grateful our bookish paths crossed 💛
📅 Mark your calendars, crime fiction lovers! Run, don’t walk, to grab Twisted Bones when it hits shelves. And if you’re new to Morgan Brookes like I was? No worries — it’s the perfect excuse to dive into the whole series. Happy reading! 🔍✨

I always look forward to the next Morgan Brookes book. She's such an amazing character that I love.
This was no exception the story was great. So many twists

Another whirlwind of a story which is gritty and straight into the action! You will want to devour this one as quickly as possible so clear your diary!
When Morgan’s aunt finds a body in the river near her house, the team must work together to find how it got there and whether anyone else may be in danger. The circumstances seem unusual, even ever confident Declan is unsure quite what is going on.
I love how this author draws you straight in at page one. She has this way of really captivating you, not just with her story telling, but with how the characters interact, how she makes you feel you are a fly on the wall, how you feel you really know these characters. However, I certainly wouldn’t want to be a colleague of Detective Morgan Brooke’s! You never quite know what situation you may end up in.
All in all another fantastic instalment, fast paced, full of action and full of twist and turns to keep you guessing.

The weatherman was talking about a chance of snow. Ettie was in the process of making candles. She needed more pine sprigs for decoration. She donned her boots and warm coat for the journey to the pine trees near the river. Finding what she needed, her attention was distracted by something odd emerging from the creek. Upon further discovery, she ran to the cottage to call her niece, Morgan. She needed the police team to come for an investigation.
Twisted Bones will be published on May 21, 2025 by bookouture. I was able to read and review Phifer’s latest novel via NetGalley. Twisted Bones is book 15 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. Each new adventure gives readers another frightening, lethal study in her English mysteries. Creepy? Yes and each one seems to be more enticing than the last. Get hooked on the Morgan Brookes series, each is a page turner.

Another amazing Morgan Dane book. This series is one of my favorite.
Follow along as Morgan and her team work to find out who killed a young lady and dumped her body in a river. Will they solve the case before someone else dies?
Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy for an honest review.

I’ve not read any of the Detective Morgan Brookes books so I didn’t know the characters. But I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery and was surprised by the ending. I will definitely check out some of the other books in this series.

Twisted Bones is another pulse pounding thrilling read in the Dectective Morgan Brookes series.
Somehow this series manages to get better with every book and this is my favourite: that is until Book 16.
Morgan's Aunt Ettie has discovered the remains of a body in the icy river.
Morgan and team are called in and they have many questions. Declan himself is is uncertain as to cause of death.
Another missing girl comes to their attention and the hunt amplifies.
Helen Phifer does her usual remarkable job of keeping the reader guessing as she takes them down the twisted path of this chilling investigation.
I dont want to give anything away so I will leave it up to the reader but be warned it is almost impossible to put Twisted Bones down.
I cant wait to see what Morgan, Ben and the rest of the team face next.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the privilege of reading and reviewing Twisted Bones.

You don’t need to read the previous books before diving into this one. It’s a great crime thriller that you can finish in a day. I personally enjoy books with chapters from the killer’s point of view and this one had a great ending.

As soon as I see a Detective Morgan Brookes series is due out, I immediately request it. She is my favorite series by Phifer. It never fails to keep you wanting to finish the book in one sitting. I really love all of the characters in this series especially how they interact with each other and how their relationships have grown throughout the series. Phifer always includes plenty of action, twists and suspense in these stories. I also feel that each of these books can stand alone but it really makes you appreciate the series more if you start from book one. Morgan and Ben have just finished a difficult murder case when Morgan’s Aunt Ettie calls to say she has found a body near her home in the river. There are some strange things about the body that have them questioning what really happened to this person. As Morgan and Ben start to follow the clues, they find more and more disturbing evidence that the killer is close to home. There are some great twists, red herrings and plenty of action to keep you wanting to find out who did it. I highly recommend this book and series. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in Exchange for an honest review.

Book 15 in the Morgan Brookes series and another page turner! Morgan and Ben are involved in a case of a body found by Morgan’s Aunt but why did this body turn up a few years after the victim was last seen? Will Morgan be able to come away unscathed as trouble always seems to find her.
Yet again Helen delivers another cracking read. These characters are family and it’s always a welcome read to devour. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
