First of all I want to thank NetGalley so much for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. I really got into this story from the very start - I liked the characters and how they were reacting to the challenges they had been given. Then I liked the way they developed in this small Cape Cod town, learning how to trust the people who were ready to support them through the tough times. It was nice how all the concern between friends lifted each one up and helped bring the story to a wonderful end. I recommend it and will be reading more of Hannah McKinnon's books in the future.

This is such a a beautiful inspirational beach read for your escape from reality.
I loved this book and read it cover to cover. Thank you to the publishers, Net Galley and the author. My review is based on my own opinion.
Leah returns to Cape Cod to her Mother's cottage to start over after a major career loss and a break up. She has a inspired idea to turn a old historically important home into a bookstore. With limited funds and help from a old friend in construction they start the refurbishment. Soon the town is involved and the bookstore takes on a vibrant life of it's own expanding into a cafe and selling local goods. Book clubs and a art studio are popular. The bookstore is a beautiful example of a community and bringing people together. Leah is a courageous likable character who followed her dream.
A wonderful relaxing read I adored. Well done to the author.

It is hard not to enjoy a story about a small beach town and a bookstore. We are talking about a huge percentage of women readers who love this new beach read genre I am creating, and McKinnon crafts a feel-good, cozy story that warms the heart.

With a warm community surrounding the up-and-coming bookstore, everyone has a quiet story they are working hard to hide and escape. Finding themselves drawn to the old captain’s house, they soon become a part of a pseudo-family.

Written with vivid descriptions that allow you to envision the ocean, beach, people, and town, the story is a delightful escape. It is made even better with a blossoming love interest underfoot. Luke is a sweetheart!

The Sandy Page Bookshop is a lazy summer afternoon read about creating a new you while finding your joy. Sweet, clean women’s fiction and romance.

A great summer beach read. Leah Powell's life has just imploded. She lost her job, she loved and worked so hard to obtain, and then her fiancee of 4 years broke up with her. Going from the perfect life in Boston to heartbroken and homeless...she moves back to Cape Cod to her late mother's cottage where she spent her youth. while taking a walk one evening, she sees the Captains cottage, a historic home that has been home to many things, bed and breakfast, grocery, and several other things. deserted and empty. Leigh peers into the windows and sees opertunity...envisioning, turning it into a bookstore.
With lots of help from an old friend and several local townspeople. The Sandy page book shop is born.
Will it thrive, will Leigh?
read and find out. I highly recommend this story of Leigh's but also of several others whose lives are also entwined and touched by the employees and patrons of the Sandy page bookshop.

Wonderful new book by Hannah McKinnon. I loved the characters as well as the setting. The story being set in the Cape made it the perfect beach read. Leah and Luke have wonderful chemistry and I love how their friendship builds into more. And the cast of characters spending time at The Sandy Page Bookshop were all fun to get to know. Each character has interesting back stories and the way they intertwine with Leah was great. Loved this and would definitely recommend this to everyone.

“The Sandy Page Bookshop” by Hannah McKinnon is the first book I read of hers. Set in Cape Cod, Leah Powell has returned to her hometown after her publishing career and engagement both ended. Within a couple days of her return, she stumbles across a For Rent sign in front of a sea captain’s historic, but now dilapidated home.

Leah is soon inspired to open a bookshop in the home and call it “The Sandy Page Bookshop.” After it opens, she decides to also create an arts-and-crafts space, followed shortly by a small café. Helping Leah along the way is Luke Nickerson, a local contractor. Luke also happens to be a friend of Leah’s brother and he had a crush on her as a boy.

In addition to Leah and Luke, there are a few additional supporting characters. Lucy, whose older sister was involved in an accident that has affected her whole family. Eudora, a widow who was once the high school guidance counselor, but now has anxiety and whose adult daughter encourages to get out of the house more. And Brad, a graduate student who is gay, but whose grandmother does not know yet.

I read this book as a palate cleanser and it did not disappoint. I found it to be cute and it had a nice pace for me as a reader. I would have liked a little bit more details/closure at the end, but what was there worked for me.

Overall, I recommend this book. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.

I can't recommend it enough! I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down, I finished it in a couple of days!

The Sandy Page Bookshop was a wonderful read that incorporated smaller stories within the main story. It brought the characters together and tied them together as a community. First there is Leah and Luke. Leah returns home after losing both her job and her finance. Starting from scratch she takes on the Sea Captain's historic home and renovates it into the The Sandy Page with the help from Luke, someone from her past who can become someone for her future. Along the way, Leah gathers other locals to help in the shop - Brad, Lucy, and Endura just to name a few. All bringing their unique touch and own stories that make their way into the shop. The Sandy Page becomes so much more then a bookshop. It becomes the heart of the town for both the locals and tourists.
Hannah McKinnon has done a great job bringing to life the characters of The Sandy Page. The uniqueness she attaches to each character brings a new level of depth to the story. While at the same time makes for a fun summer read. I definitely recommend this book especially with the summer months fast upon us.

I received a free DRC of this book through Netgalley. I love stories about bookstores and this one provided lots of details in bringing a historic seaside building back to life as a bookshop which was great fun. I would categorize this book as a romance which is not one of my top genres, but all of the bookstore detail and the other people who become friends due to the bookstore as making this a worthwhile read even for people like who who aren't big romance fans.

A very cute beach read centering around starting over, found family, love, and of course books. Leah's entire life falls apart after a scandal at her book publishing job. Her boss fires her, her fiancé breaks up with her, she has no where to live, and to add fuel to the fire, her fiancé begins dating his ex and won't leave Leah alone.
Leah must navigate moving back to her childhood home, opening a bookstore in a seasonal Cape town. While there she runs into a young girl trying to find her way during extreme upheaval in her family's life, an octogenarian navigating life after loss, and her brothers high school best friend, who might just be her new love interest.

Easy to read on the beach, on a plane, or in front of the fire at home, with a very nice tidy ending that will make readers smile.

FINALLY! I’ve read a summer book that actually kept my attention, made me feel entertained, and was just genuinely fun to read. This is my first book by Hannah McKinnon, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Was it perfect? No, but for a beach read set in Nantucket, it definitely held its own. I flew through it in just a couple of days.

I really enjoyed the storyline—the idea of opening a bookshop and watching it thrive. If you get annoyed when everything ends up all rainbows and butterflies, you might want to skip this one. But I read a pretty wide variety of books, and while this one pushed things a bit in terms of how neatly everything lined up for the main character, I liked her enough to let it pass. I was just in the mood for a happy, feel-good story, so it totally worked for me. Most of the supporting characters added to the charm.

Overall, this was a perfect light, uplifting summer read for me, and I’m glad I finally found a book that ticked all those boxes.

Leah Powell has it all…a great job in publishing, a wealthy fiancé and a Victorian Brownstone in the Back Bay. But when her passion project she’s devoted her professional career to turns out to be stolen, she loses her job. Then the fiancé drops the bomb, and if that wasn’t enough, her sister, still out on Cape Cod, a year rounder, is in a near fatal accident.
So, Leah leaves Boston to move back in with her father. There are so many wonderful relationships developed in this book that I wouldn’t be doing justice to single out any particular one. Yes, it’s a romance novel, with many of the expected tropes, but it is also a complicated look at starting over mid-career and reclaiming a meaningful past.
The Sandy Page Bookshop will be released on July 22, 2025, by Atria/Emily Bestler books. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this wonderful book early!

This story follows four individuals who all cross each other paths inside the Sandy Page Bookshop.

This was a really cute story. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like 4 POV at first ad it seemed like a lot of different stories. But it was all connected really well together.

I don’t wanna give up to much but heartbreak, love, accidents, secrets, lies and so much more are poured into this book!

The quintessential beach read! A cozy, feel good story. Leah goes back home to her coastal community after her career in publishing goes up in flames. She decided to open a bookstore in an old historic house that definitely needs some TLC. Enter Luke, her brothers old friend. A contractor, he offers to help her fix the house up for her shop.
