The Ex is a complex psychological thriller set on a charming suburban cul-de-sac. Bianca seemingly has the perfect life - an adoring husband, two adorable children, and neighborhood best friends. However, Bianca's fairytale life soon transforms into a nightmare when her college nemesis moves next door. Bianca's hate for Nicole isn't just the typical schoolgirl drama. Nicole once tried to murder Bianca and now Bianca is afraid that Nicole is back to finish what she failed to do before.
The Ex just wasn't a book for me. A lot of the "twists" were extremely predictable. I knew who 'N' was long before it was revealed. All of the characters are extremely unlikable. There wasn't a single character worth rooting for. The story is told through two POVs, one set in the present and the other set 18 years ago. The pacing is decent, and I appreciated the ending. However, overall, I just didn't enjoy The Ex.

A gripping read that hooked me right from the start, with a good amount of twists that kept me guessing and an ending that blew me away. I loved it

I just finished The Ex by Alex Sinclair and since this was my first time reading Sinclair, I went in with no expectations, which is always kind of exciting. And I have to say, it turned out to be a pretty solid thriller.
I’m one of those readers who enjoys going along for the ride without trying to guess every twist and turn, and this book did not disappoint in that area. There were some good twists that really kept me engaged, and they felt believable, which is a huge plus.
That said, I can't quite give it a full five stars. There were a few spots where the pacing slowed down a bit too much for my liking—just enough to pull me out of the suspenseful zone. And then there’s Bianca. She’s a character I almost hated a little too much. There’s definitely a fine line when it comes to dislikable characters, and she came pretty close to crossing it for me. I mean, she’s portrayed as a pretty bad mother, but it made it hard to connect with the story, if that makes sense.
Overall, I’d say The Ex sits around 4 to 4.5 stars for me. It’s a good thriller that does what it promises. If you’re in the mood for a thriller with some solid twists, definitely give this one a shot. I’ll definitely pick up more of Alex Sinclair!

This was such an addictive read right away, I found myself being unable to put it down especially when I kept reading.

Wow a very shocking ending! Many twist that I did not see coming! Definitely grab this book you won’t regret it!

The Ex
This book was a gasp-out-loud thriller with a shocking twist at the end!
It kept me captivated as I waded through all of the betrayals, lies and secrets in what seems to be the perfect neighborhood.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc

This was definitely a good thriller! Personally I could guess one part of the ending, but there are multiple plot twists and I’m happy to say I didn’t guess them all! I loved the plot of this book, however I didn’t connect with most of the characters well! Overall it’s a great story to get you thinking!

Okay this had me on edge the whole time.
One thing I love about a good thriller is being kept constantly guessing, not knowing who it is or what is going to happen. I also loved the flashbacks to the 18 years ago, as this was a clever and interesting way to explain the past, without giving too much away all at once.
There were so many twists and the shock at the end I did not expect in a million years! Definitely one to read if you like a good thriller that keeps you on your toes and makes you not want to to put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley for proving me with an ARC in return for an honest review.

What a whirlwind! This book definitely kept me on edge. While the pacing dragged a bit in places, the overall suspense made up for it. I figured out who was responsible pretty early, but the why and especially the final twist completely caught me off guard. Just when I thought it was all wrapping up neatly — boom — everything flipped. A cleverly layered psychological thriller that plays with your expectations right to the last page.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author and will not be the last. Wow! What a ride. I was hooked from the start. I loved the back and forth time line and narration. I speed through this book because I needed to know what was going to happen next. That’s always the trouble with books I love and don’t want to end, I read them too fast. I don’t want to give a lot away, because it’s hard to describe the book without doing so. It’s set in Seattle suburbs. A young couple with two kids living in a dream (not really) neighborhood. Nothing is as it seems. The couple is having marital issues made worse with the reappearance of an ex. Definitely read this one.

O. M. G. That was insane!!! Everything was great until I got to about 80% done. Then….BAM!!!!!! What just happened?!?!?! I loved the switching between present day and 18 years ago. Thank you so much for the opportunity to get an ARC of this book. DEFINITELY WORTH READING!!!!!! I can’t wait to pick up another book from this author!

This book was a wild ride. It was a slow start and didn’t have me frantically turning pages to read more but it was a good story. I hated Bianca so that was part of the problem for me. You could tell she just wasn’t a good person and her being a bad mother bothered me. The ending of this book got wild. I’m a sucker for a crazy ending. The end makes the slow parts worth it. 3.5 rounded up. Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced copy!

I thought this would play out in typical stalker fashion and it did...until it didn't! I did enjoy this on the whole, but oh my, I hated Jack! Bianca also needed to get a grip. Yes these characters frustated me, but that's down to how well they are written! A good read overall.

jack has an ex. and an ex and lets be honest im not sure how many there actually are after the "one night stand" excuse.the fallout wont be pretty, i mean i dont mean harm to anyone but come on Jack you are a awful man who cant keep his little man to himself! the author did a grand job of just making him a bit of a crap person who i loathed.
then one of this ex turns up on their perfectly trimmed cul de sac. is this woman going to ruin their lives. and what about Bianca. she had it all. or so she thought...didnt she? and what does Nicole want. to destroy them right? because shes innocent right? and what happened to her in the past that she doesnt want to come to light. i was here there and everywhere in the guessing games in this book in the most brilliant of ways.
this book will grab you, whip you up and spin you around. its exciting and disturbing and the best kind of fun packed thriller.
i adored this book and Alex must write more please. because i cant tell you how much thrill read type joy i had from this book.
i want to go back and read this book again having not read it just so i can do so with fresh eyes like you the new reader to it will be.

The Ex focuses on a couple, Bianca and Jack, who have the pleasure of dealing with Nicole, Jack’s ex, as their new neighbor. Already in a rather fraught marriage (Jack is a dick who can’t seem to get a handle on said appendage), Bianca becomes increasingly paranoid as increasing events seem to ramp up that she attributes to Nicole.
You will not guess what’s afoot in this story. The blurb is spot on though how it’ll play out is the twisty fun. Yes, this is a popcorn thriller, but it’s also one that I had inklings about on the reveal but wasn’t sure on. If you are a lover of the genre you’ll enjoy this.

What. A. Rollercoaster.
I loved this book and was hooked from the beginning! I found myself a little discombobulated at the beginning of some of the chapters and it would take me about 4 to 5 paragraphs to understand whose POV I’m reading. Butttt all in good time!
This was the story of Jack and his many many women! It was so twisty throughout the book. You think you know what’s going to happen, but then the rug is pulled right out from under you. Definitely recommend this one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this advanced readers copy!

Such a great book. Thank you for letting me read this in advance. I was hooked from the start and couldn't stop reading it.

Definitely not the ending I was expecting. I felt so sorry for everyone affected by emotions for one guy who really wasnt that great seeing as though he was unfaithful to everyone. It shows how badly our emotions can mess us up and also the dangers of rose tinted glasses,

Release date set for the 6th of May 2025.
I knew this book was going to be great as soon as I started reading it but WOW this ended up being amazing.
The twists. I thought i knew where it was going but I was way off which suprised me big time.
Great characters and the storyline was soooo good.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. Be prepared to be up all night reading.

OMG, this book! From the very first page, I was hooked—the writing is sharp, compelling, and packed with tension. The pacing is perfect, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, the twist hit me HARD. I thought I knew where it was going, but I was so wrong—and that made the twist even more brilliant. My mind was officially scrambled!
There are just enough characters to keep things interesting, and each one adds their own layer to the story. You can't help but get caught up in their psychological battles, and the way their pasts are slowly revealed is done masterfully. There's a constant sense of unease, and you never quite know who to trust, which makes for an incredibly suspenseful read. What I loved most is that it kept me guessing the entire time. As soon as I thought I had a theory, a twist would turn it on its head, keeping me hooked until the very last page. The ending was the perfect payoff—this book will stick with you long after you've finished.
If you’re into thrillers that mess with your mind, this one’s a must-read. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, you might still be wrong!
