I know this was supposed to be lighthearted and cute, but as an adult reader it just annoyed me. The mom is understandably frustrated, but she tells two of her kids to sleep on the floor after they've wet the bed? And although it's supposed to be relatable (I guess?), the dad is absolutely useless and annoyed even though he just sleeps through the whole fiasco. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Still, thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rhyme scheme was on point and could easily help keep a child’s attention, but this story felt more geared toward the parents (mom really) and seemed to just serve as a reminder to what many of us go through every night 😅 it gave kind of a mixed message in that yes, our kids just want us sometimes and need mom but it also kind of perpetuated the all too familiar narrative of mom getting the short end of the stick 🥲

I really wanted to like this book. It looks cosy and the title is sweet and the writing is lyrical.

However, there are plenty of negatives:

1. The whole book highlighted the issue where mothers still take on the parenting load and fathers are unhelpful/ absent/ incapable.

2. The mother sends young children back to their room when they have ‘peed the sheets’ and tells them to sleep on the floor!

3. The story depicts a mother who is angry and inconvenienced by her family and unsupported.

As a mum, I’m on a delightful mission to foster a love for reading in my daughter. Let’s be honest, after reading the same stories a million times, it can feel like a challenge to keep those little ones engaged! So, I decided to shake things up with some digital books.

The first gem we explored together was an ARC read from NetGalley titled "Can I Sleep in Your Bed Tonight" by the talented Andreas Sahar. What a whimsical treat it is!

This charming story follows an exhausted mum who just wants a little sleep, but her kids have other plans—who can’t relate to that chaos? 😂 It’s such a lyrical tale that flows effortlessly, accompanied by vibrant illustrations filled with delightful details. I mean, who doesn’t know the struggle of sharing blankets, right? There’s always that one person who seems to steal them all!

My daughter absolutely adored this book! She was giggling, wiggling, and completely swept up in the rhythm of the story. In fact, she’s already asked about getting a physical copy once it hits the shelves this June. And her favorite moment? When Dad gets hilariously kicked out of the bed! Kids, am I right? 😂💕

This experience has truly made my heart smile, and I can’t wait for more reading adventures together!

Most parents will have experienced the nightly bedroom visits of their children, and the various reasons for them being there. In an easy to read rhyme the four small children in this family all try to snuggle down with their parents! The artwork is relatable, the reasoning as recognisable as the visits themselves, and the solution is a sadly familiar decision for one of the parents!

I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Holzer Books LLC, but the opinions expressed are my own. Andreas Sahar, a song and screenwriter has written an easy read bedtime story which will resonate with even the smallest listener.

Well if this adorable book isn’t the truth of life with kids and pets! Lovely pictures, fun rhyming. I know my kids would love to read this book. Highly recommend!

Cute book! Moral of the story is to get a bigger bed where all the kiddos can sleep when they need it most. Loved the colors and art!
