Hannon has written another great mystery read!
There wasn’t as much suspense as mystery in this story. Who is the bad guy? You will be asking yourself that question for the first half of the book.
Strange happenings are taking place on Natalie’s acreage. She is a healthy elderly lady, who with help of a professor is translating a dying vocal language. Who is feeling threatened?
Secrets lie buried from the past.
A handsome sheriff is on hand to help solve the mysteries.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

This was a well-written, fast-paced and enjoyable read, with just the right amount of romance mixed in with the suspense.
Cara Tucker is a historical anthropologist who is given the chance to help in the translation of centuries-old journals written in French. As she begins her work, she is drawn into a mystery revolving around Natalie Boyer, the woman she is working with and the descendant of the journal’s author. Strange things are happening around the old estate, and Cara soon meets Sheriff Brad Mitchell as he begins to investigate the situation.
The author does a great job of slowly working through all of the possible suspects, and I enjoyed discovering the different motives as the book progressed. I liked the aspect of several of the characters having a disability and, once again, the author does a good job with portraying them in a wonderful way.
I also liked the chance to learn more about the area of Old Mines, Missouri. I never knew that there was a whole French culture in Missouri and look forward to learning more about this historical aspect.
“If the opportunity comes along to find love again, don’t add letting that go to your list of regrets.”
The romance in the book is perfect, and I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow with God’s blessing. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of mystery along with a bit of romance, set against a unique backdrop and faith in God.
I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

I found this latest. book by the author, intriguing. Cara has the chance to stay at
a remote country estate , studying old manuscripts. When small accidents have
occurred for the owner. I recommend this book as well as the others this author has written, that I have enjoyed.
Given arc by Net Galley and Revell.

This was a great finale to the Undaunted Courage series! So glad to get Cara's story in this installment. Her career as a historical anthropologist was super interesting (and one I feel like I could easily enjoy, too).
The multiple suspects with plausible motive kept me guessing throughout, and I felt Hannon--as ever--wrapped it up convincingly. Looking forward to seeing what's next in store for this author!
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the suspense with a bit of intrigue and romance, and I thought the story line was unique. Cara, an anthropologist, finds herself at an old estate studying an old text. There are clues in there to a few secrets, which puts her and host Natalie in danger. It had just the amount of romance as well. Recommended.

I received a free copy of, Out of Time, by Irene Hannon, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book three in the Undaunted Courage series. Cara Tucker is a historical anthropologist, she is working in Missouri at a remote place, when things start to go wrong. The police officer Brad is happy to help her. This was a good read, Cara is a strong character and I liked her and Brad together.

Irene Hannon has long been one of my favorite authors, and this book is another reminder why. The story pulled me right in with its chilling estate setting, intriguing historical mystery, and escalating danger. Cara and Brad made such a compelling duo—their partnership was filled with warmth and quiet strength, even as the threats around them grew darker. The mix of suspense, romance, and atmospheric tension was spot on, and I found myself glued to the pages late into the night. Fans of Colleen Coble, Patricia Bradley, and Terri Blackstock will definitely want to add this one to their shelves.

First I want to start by thanking you let me read an ARC Copy.
Cara is doing research on a lost language. she is working with Natalie Boyer on translated some old journals that belong to the Boyer family. When strange things start happening to Natalie and then her long time grounds person is found dead Cara starts to rethink her plan for her research. Brad is the sheriff and when he starts investigating the strange happenings going on things start to escalate on Natalies property.
I found this book to be slow moving which is unusual in my opinion of Irene Hannon's books. O love the way she writes this was just a little slow for me.

Irene Hannon is one of the best Christian suspense novelist today. Out of Time is no exception. It has an exciting plot line, likable characters and a Christian message. It is book 3 in the Undaunted Courage series, but does fine as a stand-alone novel.
Cara Tucker did not expect to see police cars when she arrives at the home of eighty-year-old Natalie Boyer. She and Natalie had only talked by text and phone about a project to translate some journals from Natalie's ancestor before the language disappeared forever. Unfortunately, this dizzy spell that Natalie had is only the beginning of strange things happening to and around Natalie. Strange lights at midnight, a fire in the kitchen, and finally the murder of the groundskeeper all point to something sinister going on. It seems that everyone has an agenda and everyone wants something from Natalie. Enter police officer Brad, who has his hands full trying to keep Cara and Natalie safe and catch a killer!
I enjoyed Out of Time very much! The author gives you just enough plot line to keep you reading to end. It is suspenseful with being gory. I think any fans of Lynette Eason, Elizabeth Goddard or Colleen Coble would like this book!

I really enjoyed this book and this series. I especially liked the older woman Natalie. She has been through so much and is still a survivor. The bad guy was a surprise to me as I thought it was someone else. In addition to the mystery there was also romance. I highly recommend this book and this series to lovers of Christian romantic suspense.

An Irene Hannon book is always guaranteed to be a page turning read and this one is no exception. The story took us on many paths that merged together beautifully at the end making a satisfying and compelling read.
Out of Time is the third and final book of the Undaunted Courage series. It wraps up the Tucker siblings' stories as Cara embarks on a translation project located in the 'hinterland' in her job as a historical anthropologist. She doesn't expect to meet the local Sheriff, Brad, on her first day there however, though he certainly made an impression. As this story develops there are layers of mystery that create a captivating story full of drama, suspense and romance. Everytime I thought I had the mystery sorted in my head something else happened and left me guessing again.
I really enjoyed this book. While part of a series you can read it as a standalone book without any problems. For anyone loving Christian Suspense books this is a must read.

Cara is an historical anthropologist on sabbatical to collaborate in the translation of some historical journals. Natalie's family has had the journals for years. Written in a vanishing language, Natalie is one of the only people left that can translate the journals into english. But will Cara's plan to translate be thwarted before they even start? When she arrives at Natalie's secluded home all kinds of emergency vehicles are there. What caused Natalie, who is normally healthy, to have a dizzy spell? With mysterious lights in the woods, a reclusive grounds keeper wandering around, will Cara be safe while on sabbatical? And what about Natalie's doting nephew Steven and the local Sheriff Brad? Will either of those men capture Cara's eye?
Out Of Time was an exciting read! The pace was fast and the mystery was intriguing. The suspects were crawling out of the woodwork! I found it interesting that the author revealed who the bad guy was way before the book ended. But it gave the reader a look into the person's reasoning and showed how the others were duped into never suspecting who it was. I enjoyed the romance that developed. I also enjoyed the interaction that Cara had with her brother Jack and sister Bri. They still have their monthly get-togethers and still keep in close contact even though Jack and Bri have significant others of their own. Out Of Time was an exciting read and a great ending to the Undaunted Courage series. Check out my reviews of those here: Into The Fire and Over The Edge.

Cara Tucker is taking a sabbatical semester from her professorship to research the Old Mines area of Missouri and get a first hand account of a journal written in a dying language from the author's great-great-niece, who is among the last alive to be able to translate it. But she shows up to a police presence and that is just the beginning of unusual happenings in this small sleepy town during her stay. Filled with unusual happenings that kept me turning pages and a sweet romance between Cara and the local sheriff who keeps getting called to the property, this story had some good things going for it.
This is the 3rd book in Irene Hannon's Undaunted Courage series, but could easily be read as a stand-alone. Fans of the series will be glad to "see" Bri and Jack and their significant others again, but you don't need their stories to enjoy this one. The first book in the series was my top read for the year a couple of years back and book 2 was in my top 5-10, so I was super excited for this one, to get the story of the final Tucker sibling; however, this one fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed the overall story line and still give this one 3.5-4 stars, but the romance moved too quickly for my liking, and there were too many "villains" with too much going on. While it lent well to the overall plot, it felt a bit "sticky" in the telling and there was no big reveal on whodunit at the end. The suspense was in how things would be resolved. The faith thread also was very light and almost felt like an afterthought. While it was still a good story, to me it didn't live up to the expectation I had after reading the other books in the series. Fans of romantic suspense who enjoy a heavier romance element with less intensity in the suspense would enjoy this one (and probably favor this one over the other 2) though. Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Out of Time by Irene Hannon is an interesting Christian romantic mystery/thriller. This is not a fast-paced book but I enjoyed how the story and romance developed, including the character development. It had the right element of suspense and twists and the ending was great. I also liked the inclusivity in having a character with a hearing disability. Good and inspiring read overall.
I got the ARC from Revell via Netgalley. This is my honest review

Out of Time is a Christian Suspense novel and the third installment in the Undaunted Courage series. In Out of Time by Irene Hannon, readers are introduced to Cara Tucker, who has received a fellowship for the Fall as an Associate Professor. She’s working with Natalie Boyer, a woman in her eighties who has a collection of rare journals containing an ancient Paw Paw French dialect native to the old Missouri town. They work together to translate and transcribe history and open up a world about a young girl named Marie Boyer, who witnessed the highway construction between Old Mines and St. Louis in the 1920s. This piqued Cara’s curiosity even more as she transcribed and Natalie translated a centuries-old language that revealed a hundred-year mystery. But Natalie’s health is failing her, and she experiences a fainting spell that brings the EMT and Sheriff Brad Adams to her door. What seems like a fainting spell due to aging begins to trigger more sinister events happening at Natalie’s estate, and they all appear to be linked to what’s in the journals. This sets the stage for Cara and Brad to eventually work together to find out who is behind these strange and dangerous happenings.
There is a lot to unpack from the very beginning as readers are taken into this old French town of Missouri. Hannon does a great job painting the climate of this small, quiet town. The focal point is the journals because they reveal not only an ancient and dying language, but also some dangerous truths about the demise of Natalie’s aunt. Characters such as Paul Coleman are hoping that Natalie’s constant fainting spells will delay the completion of her and Cara’s translations of whatever is within those pages. He hopes that they will keep hitting enough snags for him to find a way to get the journals out of their hands and into the Historical Society. Then there’s Sheriff Brad Adams, who’s intrigued by Cara, but his interests turn into curiosity when all of the strange events begin to spiral at Natalie’s estate. They find themselves trying to piece this puzzle together that seems to be getting bigger and more dangerous as the clues unravel.
Hannon allows the story to breathe with every chapter. Readers will find this story unfolding at a nice and appropriately modest pace. They get to know the characters, such as Lydia, who’s come back to her brother penniless and with too little experience to get a decent job outside of house cleaning. But her escape plan was to convince Natalie that she needed a live-in housekeeper, which would put her in proximity to all of Natalie’s valuable merchandise. There are quite a few characters that ended up on my suspect list as the plot thickened. But as the suspicions grow, Hannon also shows readers just how human these characters are, in all their flaws and backstories. For instance, Natalie shares with Cara that Brad unfortunately lost his wife. We also get a peek inside Paul and his wife Becky’s conversations as they become more intense. For example, Paul dreads having to interview with the St. Louis paper about their son for fear that they will dig up a lot of scandalous information he wants to forget. Much like the ghosts Paul fears that Natalie and Cara will resurrect as they get deeper into their translating and transcribing of the journals.
Readers who will appreciate a book like Out of Time are those who enjoy similar works, such as Desolation Point by Lisa Phillips or Leigh Jones’ Look the Other Way. The suspense builds, and Hannon knows when to turn all the screws.

I'm not sure I know where to start with this one. Irene Hannon brings the Undaunted Courage Series to an with Out of Time; the youngest Tucker sibling's saga. The series title definitely applies to this story. Cara shows up and seems to be unflappable through the many things she faces, even though she's not the LEO of the clan. Definitely Undaunted.
Brad Adams, small town sheriff, seems to be her perfect fit. He's a hero. He's human. He's sweet. He's distracted. He's "real".
There were a few places where Cara's character seemed incongruent through the story. I suspect some of that perception is my own ignorance. I don't want to share specifics because I don't want to give details that would spoil things for others. I was surprised to learn something significant about her that I don't remember being mentioned earlier in the series. It definitely shifted my perception of her character.
It is light on revealing the characters faith journey's. There were several places I felt the characters' faith / relationship with the Lord could have been displayed naturally but that didn't end up being included. Maybe that's intentional. Maybe the characters haven't developed their faith that much yet.
All in all it's a good story and series. I enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.

Out of Time
by Irene Hannon
Pub Date: Oct. 7, 2025
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I was eager to get this book as I am an avid reader of Hannon.
This is book 3 in the series and one of the best!
For historical anthropologist Cara Tucker, the chance to spend a sabbatical semester on a remote country estate--with full access to its vast library and century-old journals--is a dream come true . . . until a series of strange incidents begins to turn her dream into a nightmare. Someone, it seems, does not want anyone diving into the past and unearthing old ghosts.
Sheriff Brad Adams has seen his share of suspicious activities during his law enforcement career, but what's happening at the isolated estate is out-of-pattern in his quiet, rural Missouri county. Beset by danger, Cara and Brad work together to try to untangle the clues.
But when the peril turns lethal, the situation takes on a new urgency, and their mission is clear: Find out who is behind the string of menacing incidents.
Fans of Colleen Coble, Patricia Bradley, and Terri Blackstock will find this shadowy tale electrifying.

Out of Time by Irene Hannon is book 3 of 3 in the Undaunted Courage series. It works well as a standalone, but if this is the one you start with, I am positive you will want the other two.
The main character, Cara, has cochlear implants because of hearing loss from measles as a child. I thought this was a good thing to bring up. In the world we live in today, it helps to read books that encourage us to be more understanding of the issues others face. Cara is a strong female character so this is not something that controlled her life.
The plot was extremely well done. There were three people who deserved a bit of investigation as they all had a reason that they felt trickery was a good idea. The characterization was extremely well done--not surprising as Hannon excels at that.

An intense book with such strong characters. I felt compelled to continue reading as I tried to figure out the different storylines. It was a huge reminder that so many people have hidden agendas and can easily cause us intense pain and disappointment, as we learn to trust.

Cara was on a sabbatical in Old Mines, Missouri to do a research project on a disappearing language and culture that had existed since the 1700's. Cara did not realize that her and Natalies research would be so dangerous that it would interest a murderer and a thief....
