This was a really fun read. The chapters are told from different POVs of women who live on the street. We know from the beginning that there’s been a murder but not who it is. The story goes back in a time a bit to give information that leads up to the night of the murder. All the characters are interesting and have very different backgrounds. If you liked Desperate Housewives, you’ll enjoy this. The conclusion was very satisfying!

The Wives of Hawthorne Lane is a delicious soap opera of a domestic thriller. Four couples, all seemingly perfect and happy, are hiding deeply hidden, dangerous secrets. One will lead to murder. It’s hard to decide which secret will do the most damage. Appearances mean everything to Georgina but there is something bubbling under the perfectly curated family picture. Libby, devastated by her upcoming divorce, is the sole parent of a surly, argumentative boy. Audrey avoids dealing with her failing marriage by having an affair. And Hannah, sweet Hannah, is living a nightmare. Chapters begin three months before the annual Halloween Fall Festival. The countdown continues, interrupted by police interviews. Stephanie DeCarolis has delved a well plotted suburban thriller that is impossible to put down. Enjoy! 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Ballantine and Stephanie DeCarolis for this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. Wow. Real Housewives on steroids. A truly remarkable domestic thriller. Fun and right on time.

The Wives of Hawthorne Lane is a solid domestic thriller bogged down by tropes and weird pacing. Stephanie DeCarolis has crafted a story straight out of a run-of-the-mill episode of “Desperate Housewives” — you’ll probably get to the end but you’ll be on your phone, thinking about what to have for dinner, or multitasking through most of it.
Like (I’m assuming) its inspiration, you follow a gang of ladies all with their own issues in their lives, at home and at work. It’s been a while since I watched an episode of Housewives, but unlike that show, DeCarolis is heavy handed with the tropes and stereotypes here. You’ve got the homemaker with the aggressive husband, the woman who doesn’t know if she can move on after her husband has left with a younger woman, the wife cheating on her down on his luck husband, and the newcomer with a SECRET! There are some terrible kids on the lane as well, though if you’re like me, you’ll quickly turn the page whenever they show up — they’re straight from “the misbehaved children shop” where authors pick already made characters to plop into their stories.
DeCarolis also pulls from Memento — never seen it — by starting us at the end before reverting back to “three months” ago. It kind of works here, but I would have loved to discover the crime / big moment more organically but the already “okay” story and plot would have surely suffered — there isn’t much here without knowing someone dies during the annual Halloween event… the only event held on this lane each year (lol). Guess Christmas is held on Wisteria Lane a few streets over.

Watch out Desperate Housewives, there’s a new group of ladies in town. The wives of Hawthorne Lane are all wonderful wives and mothers with loving husbands and happy homes, from the outside that is. Through tales of domestic abuse, affairs, lies, and divorce, the ladies put on brave faces until one Halloween night a man is found dead off of Hawthorne Lane. Thus we ask the age old question, how well do we really know our neighbors?
I loveddddd this book so much. I’m always all about suburban drama stories and Desperate Housewives has always been one of my all time favorite shows. The Hawthorne Lane ladies are no different as they deal with all the struggles they face behind closed doors until one night brings them all together. The ending was fabulous and ended how I hoped it would. Karma’s a grumpy biotch.
Please make sure to read any trigger warnings if you’re sensitive to that. There is on page DV that happens in a few places. The Wives of Hawthorne Lane releases September 16.

The Wives of Hawthorne Lane is a story of suspense set in an affluant neighborhood. I read into the night, but also tried to slow down, so that I wouldn't finish it.
The women in the neighborhood are all different, but all have their own secrets and stories to tell.
The ending was perfectly done, and I was very surprised.
I highly recommend this book.

Amazing!! Just AMAZING!! Stephanie DeCarolis has hit a slam dunk with this jewel. The Wives of Hawthorne Lane is a domestic suspense masterpiece that is the true definition of unputdownable. I read until I could read no more. I couldn't wait to get to the ending, but yet I didn't want it to end.
The drama centers around an affluent neighborhood and it's residents. While everything looks perfect on the outside, what is happening behind closed doors is truly despicable. When a body is discovered on Halloween during a neighborhood gathering, the suspects are numerous. Who is the victim, and why were they murdered?
This is an absolutely gripping psychological thriller that grabs you from the start and doesn't relinquish the hold until the very last page. The characters are well developed, with some being very likeable and others downright deranged. The ending was explosive and so perfect it gave me chills. Stephanie DeCarolis just keeps getting better and I can't wait for her next book. I can't recommend this book enough!! READ IT!!!

I love the neighborhood thriller type novels. However, this one did have a few too many characters for me. I did get slightly confused at times, but I did enjoy it.

This one was just ok for me. Hannah moves to Hawthorne Lane to escape something; but what? She encounters other woman going through their own issues-divorce, affairs, teenage issues. When Hannah's past comes back to find her, she has to tell all, while also protecting her neighbors. This was more of a skimmer for me.
