This is my second book by Stephanie DeCarolis and, though I enjoyed them both, The Wives of Hawthorne Lane really took the cake. It had a Big Little Lies feel to it, in that it was a rich neighborhood of wealthy but troubled women, however Hawthorne Lane was unique in several ways. DeCarolis excelled in the detailed storytelling of Georgina, Audrey, Hannah, and Libby in a way that felt refreshing. I was rooting for all the women by the end of the book and I was not disappointed. I won’t give anything away, but many parts had me at the edge of my seat wondering what was coming next. Thank you NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I found the pacing of this to be a bit slower than I expected, which lost some of my interest and led to some skimming at times. I was curious enough to see what happened, but found myself a little annoyed at the end by some unrealistic plot twists. Overall this wasn't a favorite of mine but hopefully others enjoy it more!

I went into this book blind. This was my first book by this author and I found it to be an ok read. It went along at a slower pace than I’m used to. There were a few twist here and there and I think it’ll hold your attention to want to read it.

Everyone that has heard of Hawthorne Lane knows that only the most prestigious people live there. It is the perfect neighborhood. Lovely homes, manicured lawns, and tastefully decorated. What the people can't see and don't know is what lies behind those perfect front doors. The secrets and imperfect families that live in those perfect homes.
On Halloween night, as everyone is enjoying the fall festival that takes place each year on Hawthrone Lane, the festivities are interrupted when a dead body is found. Everyone is devasted, and the rumors begin to fly. How could this have happened at Hawthorne Lane? As they begin to suspect each other, and distrust abounds, the dark secrets begin to come out. Yet as it all unravels, the wives of Hawthrone find they have more in common with each other than they thought. And the answers may be closer than they think.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.

The wives of Hawthorne Lane all have secrets they’re keeping. They’re all good at keeping up appearances and keeping the drama mostly behind closed doors. Little by little, they end up sharing some of their sordid secrets. When a murder occurs on Halloween night the women join forces and carry out a plan to rid themselves of their worst nightmares. Karma at its best!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book meanders through a street full of wealthy neighbors who are hiding secrets behind their ivy covered walls. Did it keep my interest? Yes and no. I kept reading out of curiosity, but I had to endure a lot of angst along the way including marital discord, misogyny, and physical abuse. When I got to the end, I was disappointed in unrealistic plot twists that I felt the author used in order to tie up loose ends.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for allowing me to read and review this offering.

If you were a fan of Desperate Housewives, this novel is for you. The characters, setting, and problems of being affluent definitely has Wisteria Lane vibes. I read this book in one sitting, during a five hour flight. There were some twists and turns I was not expecting and I enjoyed seeing how their stories interconnect. There were definitely some characters I grew to hate and I did not enjoy the depiction to domestic abuse. If you are looking for a novel with some thrills and neighborhood gossip, this one is for you.

3.5 rounded up. Quick read - was interested to see how everything would come together. A bit too much DA for one community, but overall a solid read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars
This was set at Halloween and a neighborhood thriller, so right away I knew I had to read it. It was entertaining and had a couple of satisfying twists. The pace was slow, and I found myself distracted and doing a lot of skimming at times. I can’t say it was a favorite, but I enjoyed it overall.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The Wisteria Lane vibes of this book drew me in, but the characters felt really one-dimensional. I've been craving a gossipy, neighborhood-with-secrets thriller, and I really hoped this would be it. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me, but hopefully other readers will connect with it.

The Wives of Hawthorne Lane brings together four women, all seemingly different in their lives. But each of them are connected in ways that in the beginning even they don't understand. But on Halloween night, everything comes to a head, these four neighbors turned friends coming together to bring down one common enemy...or maybe even more than that.
It's easy to like these four women. They could be you, me, your sister, your best friend, your teacher...any of the women in your life could easily be one of the four women we meet in this novel. There are themes of new marriages, old marriages, extramarital affairs gone wrong, domestic violence, learning how to parent children that seem to dislike you, deciding whether or not becoming a parent is the right choice in that moment...so many themes to choose from in this book.
We are meant to dislike them, for the most part. Much like one of the male characters in the novel, these women are affluent, living in a wonderful neighbor in large houses, something the average person like myself would deem as "pretentious". But it's easy to get beyond that and see what these four women are dealing with behind closed doors...because the saying is true: you never know what someone is going through privately.
Stephanie DeCarolis perfectly describes the fear one goes through in a DV situation, and while I think some novelists almost romanticize this in other novels, Stephanie does the opposite and shows you the nitty gritty of it all. The story comes together to give us a satisfying ending, but leaving it open for a potential follow up down the road where we can see what our four MFC's have been up to since the night their lives changed.
Thank you to NetGalley, Stephanie DeCarolis and Ballatine for an ARC of The Wives of Hawthorne Lane. The opinions above are that of my own.

Ugggghhhh...dnf for me. Characters are trite and sooooo annoyingly terrible people. I slogged through as much as I could.
I appreciate the Netgalley ARC so much, but this one just was a no.

Wow, what a book this was. Affairs, drinking, abuse, relationship issues out the wazoo. Anything you can think of this book has it and more. At first, I thought this was going to be kind of like that old movie "The Stepford Wives" where everyone is perfect and if you don't conform then they just kill you. But I was so wrong.
Yes, it starts out that way where everyone comes off shining like a golden apple in the sun but really, it's about all the stuff we don't talk about that happens everywhere we live. When I was younger, we knew our neighbors. If we ran into trouble as kids, we knew exactly who to run to. It's not really like that now. Yes, there is the suspense angle and boy, did I enjoy the heck out of that. However, you really realize that at the end of the book was about the women of the neighborhood coming together for each other and because of each other. I really enjoyed that aspect as well.
This book is multifaceted, and I am NEVER disappointed by one of Stephanie DeCarolis' books. Her characters are always so well fleshed out and you understand exactly what is happening. You feel EVERYTHING. Towards the middle of this, I really thought it was going to be like all of the Jackie Collins books that I have read and loved but really, this ended up being so much better. I loved it. I happily recommend this book to anyone who loves a good domestic thriller.
Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers, and to Stephanie DeCarolis for the ability to read and review this book. All opinions are my own and are completely honest.

The wives who live on Hawthorne Lane together with a nanny who works there share hide many secrets. Behind the beautiful facades of their gorgeous homes lie loneliness, abuse, adultery, and others. The story opens with a death at a Halloween festival. The remainder of the book is told from many POVs, a technique I love, to determine who died and how. This is well written and the characters are engaging. My only argument with it is that it had too many Big Little Lies vibes. Overall, however, I recommend it as an enjoyable summer read. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This domestic thriller was page page-turner for me. I got Desperate Housewives vibes from it, which I loved that show so it was a perfect fun read for me. I flew through the book and will read more from Stephanie DeCarolis in the future

This book resembles a blend of Desperate Housewives infused with elements of a murder mystery. However, I anticipated a higher level of suspense and less focus on the Desperate Housewives aspect. There were moments when I nearly abandoned it, but I found the latter half to be an improvement over the first. Ultimately, I rated it three stars, which I consider to be an average score.

I was in the mood for a domestic suspense novel and decided to read this one! When I tell you I FLEW through this novel... It was so good! I couldn't out it down. I've never heard of the author until now but you can bet I'll be reading everything she writes from now on! I highly recommend it.

This was a welcome page turner for me. Highly recommended for fans of domestic suspense from a female point of view. Thanks to NetGalley and Bantam Books for an advance reader copy. I did enjoy this one.
The Hawthorne Lane neighborhood is a pretty universal concept- a rich enclave with people who are not always what they seem. We meet Georgina , Audrey, Libby and Hannah and slowly each of their stories and challenges are revealed.
Most female readers can easily find one of these women to identify with no doubt. For me it was Libby.
I did like how the author made the reader feel an intimate connection to each with real interest in their plights. The multiple points of view really contributed to this. In some books it seems contrived but was very effective here. It pretty much covered the gamut off what can go wrong in a woman’s life.
There are so many twists to the story! Most were unexpected.
The author does a beautiful job of weaving all their stories together to a blockbuster ending!

A death in the idyllic neighborhood shakes up the perfect Hawthorne Lane. The seemingly perfect families that live there hold a lot of secrets and everything is not as perfect as what it seems.
Wow I absolutely devoured this book!! It gave me total desperate housewives vibes. There was so many shocking twists and turns. I didn’t want to put it down and I love the way it was written. I can’t wait to read what this author writes next.

The Wives of Hawthorne Lane is a fun, light thriller / drama that touches on darker themes that affect women today. The characters are all very compelling with their stories and secrets and the way they intertwine as the story progresses is excellently written. The ending, while not entirely twisty, wrapped up the story nicely, with no threads left. If you enjoy domestic thrillers or small town / neighborhood with secrets stories, you'll probably like this book. The writing style is simple and easy to read. At times the characters did blend a bit together, but overall, I enjoyed this.
