Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and Emily Bestler Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.

59 Minutes is terrifying and likely a very real glimpse into what might happen if we got an emergency notification - that isn’t a test - that we were about to die. The focus of the book is on three characters during the countdown of the 59 minutes, with an epilogue of sorts one year and ten years after. The events during the 59 minutes are terrible with a sliver of hope, while those after reflect on what happened and provide more terror but also far more hope.

The book definitely stays with its reader and raises questions while the culmination of events was unexpected and expected both at once. I especially appreciated the peek into how England reacted long term. There were points where I was confused but that was largely cleared up when I realized one voice’s place in the story. Overall, this is an important story that should be read, but perhaps one you need to be prepared for as the scariest part of it is how real it is when looking at who people are when going through and trying to recover from this kind of world ending trauma.

What a unique and frightening story. The three story lines intersected in such a clever way that I truly didn’t see coming. I cared about all of these characters and the tension and fear that is continually being dialed up made me stay up way too late turning the pages to find out what would happen.

I know I’m early with my review for this book, but I’d highly recommend putting this one on your radar. It’s rare these days that I stay up too late reading, but this story was hard to tear myself away from. I’m hoping to listen to the audiobook when it’s released. IMO this is a do not miss!

Thank you to @hollyseddonauthor @atriabooks @netgalley for a digital copy of 59 Minutes.

Holy cow! This book was wild! I was honestly unsure about it at first. But I started reading and it just pulled me in, I finished it in 2 sittings. I loved the short chapters, that is always a plus for me. I also loved that there were three different story lines to follow. There is so much that happens in this book and I don’t want to give it away. This is my first book by the author, but definitely will not be the last.

Everyone will be talking about this story. I started it and it just grabbed me right away! Such a crazy premise that will have us asking ourselves what we would do if this happened. This is perfect for every book club! Will have you setting aside everything else you should be doing just to finish it. So many twists!
