I had a hard time putting this book down after the first few pages. The book starts out with a vivid description of Wyatt Storme’s hunting trip. I almost didn’t keep reading the description was so real. But I’m glad I did.

After the first few pages, the book took on a give and take between the main characters, Wyatt, and a bounty hunter, Chick. It reminded me of the relaxed way two good friends might carry on with each other.

The story involved a marijuana field, a person in witness protection, a sheriff, a reporter, a secretary and a chemist on the run. The story was set in Missouri and since I live in that state, it was very realistic to me.

Wyatt, an ex-pro football player, just wants to forget his time in football and his military service. He loves to hunt and wants to get his gal back. He promises a good friend to give Chick a ride to Colorado. Before he gets that far, Wyatt and Chick become involved with some unsavory business in Missouri. Wyatt can’t leave it alone and Chick backs him up.

If you like trying to figure out who everyone REALLY is in a book and solve a mystery at the same time, this is the book that will give you both.
