Cute formula 1 romance with stakes. Loved the main couple and will recommend to any sports romance readers!

I recently got into sports romance but have ALWAYS followed F1 and NASCAR. This is my first F1 romance and I ate it up. Childhood friends to kinda enemies to lovers? Sign me up. The tension and drama was just the right amount and I've been recommending this book to all my sports romance book friends.

Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into this book the way I wanted to. I’ll try again when I’m in a different reading mood!

Drive Me Crazy by Lizzy Dent
adventurous emotional funny lighthearted slow-paced
3.5

Drive Me Crazy was a super cute ARC, Coming right off of another F1 romance; I was ready to rip into another. This one was deep, Had technical language along with enough info for a person who is not totally into the F1 scene to still get into it.
I did get to a bit of a lul towards around the middle but getting through to the end made it worth it!

Big shout out to NetGalley, the author Lizzy Dent and Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons for this ARC!

Chloe gets her dream job as an F1 team principal only to get handed the worst lead driver- her childhood crush, Matt. This book perfectly introduces F1 lingo to non-F1 fans. Chloe is such a relatable character as she struggles to find her voice in chaotic environment. Matt is the perfect asshole who finds redemption. Just a very fun book!

ARC 4/5 ⭐️

I was given this book to review by netgalley.

✨ Team Principal Chloe

✨ Ready to Retire Driver Matt

Two friends who went separate ways but are now being thrust together by the very sport that brought them together in the first place.

Chloe has always harbored feelings for Matt, but when he was given his big break in Formula 1, he ran off and never spoke to her again. Matt never saw Chloe in any way other than a friend. But now they’re meeting again and she’s his boss and he’s a washed up driver who can’t make it through a practice session without having a self induced panic attack.

There was a crash. A big one. A life altering one. And now Matt is riddled with guilt. He never meant for his teammate to get hurt. But he did. Matt feels responsible, and can’t bear to face his friend.

Chloe & Matt’s journey to finding confidence, comfort in one another, and healing old wounds was so endearing and beautiful. It’s easy for us, as people, to let our thoughts win out. To let the pain of the past infect our future. Through their story, they face the past, they face each other, and they face a future where they might not be weighed down by their mistakes.

I know some people aren’t usually thrilled by the idea of a team principal/driver situation, but I think this situation is unique. I think if you give it a chance, you’ll find that you love the story and the characters.

I am so grateful that I was given an opportunity to read this! I was excited to pick up this new read from Lizzy Dent, who I've enjoyed in the past.
However, this one did not fully land for me. I loved the F1 racing element but struggled to connect with any of the characters, including the leads. I couldn't really detect the chemistry between them and their story felt stilted and difficult to connect with. I love second chance romances usually but this one didn't give me that feeling of "finally they get to be together" jubilation that I'm used to. I had a difficult time with finishing but ultimately did get to the end and that was also a bit of a let down. I would have liked to see more character development and a few less description of the races themselves.

Overall, this was a solid read. As a F! fan, you can tell that the author is either a fan themselves or did extensive research. The amount of research/information provided would also make it easy for someone who isn't a fan to read.

There were a few times where I felt a little bored with the story and wasn't that motivated to pick it back up, but that absolutely could have just been my overall mood, not the book itself. Pet name names make me uncomfy & "bug" absolutely made me uncomfy.

Thank you to Lizzy Dent, Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️½

Light, witty, but a bit uneven

Drive Me Crazy is a fun romantic comedy with clever banter and plenty of charm. Lizzy Dent captures the humor and awkwardness of unexpected road trips and opposites-attract dynamics really well, making for some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments.

While the premise is great and the main characters have chemistry, the pacing feels inconsistent at times, and a few emotional beats don’t land as deeply as they could. Still, it’s an enjoyable, easy read that offers humor, heart, and a sweet escape. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something lighthearted and breezy.

I love Lizzy Dent usually but this one just didn’t land for me. I was actually really excited about the theme of F1 racing, but the quality of the writing just didn’t work for me on this one. It did not have the typical witty banter that I have come to love. Overall it was enjoyable but just didn’t live up to her previous work.

Drive Me Crazy delivered on all the emotional tension I love — slow-burn pining, meaningful conflict, and a satisfying arc of personal growth, especially from the male lead. The story felt like a pseudo-second chance, with just enough emotional history and yearning to keep me hooked. I really appreciated how grounded the female lead felt — navigating real-world challenges in a male-dominated space with grit and vulnerability. That said, the ending felt a bit rushed, and I wish the resolution had more space to breathe. Still, a heartfelt, character-driven romance that gave me all the feels along the way.

This one had moments I liked—particularly the quirky setup and snappy lines—but overall it felt underdeveloped. The characters sometimes fell into clichés, and the plot’s momentum sputtered. When the emotional stakes rose, I got behind them; otherwise, it read like a lukewarm rom‑com. It’s a decent diversion, but not one I’ll remember. 2,75 stars feels accurate: capable, but not notably engaging.

If you love sports romance you need this book! The romance was very well written and packed full of banter.

I loved my last ARC from Lizzy and was interested to see how a trendy book about F1 would go. While it was certainly not as good as Just One Taste, it was still good! Lizzy has a fan in me.

I thought this book was about average. I enjoyed the interactions between the two main characters, however, I felt like the story just ended. I feel like there should have been more to the end of the book and felt slightly unsatisfied with the ending.

Firstly thank you for the ARC! I was really excited to read this book. I was wanting to get into F1 romances and this was the perfect entry for me. I like the FMC Chloe alot. I know women in powerful positions in the sports world is usually not highlighted much. I appreciated the way the author did touch on how there can be double standards for men and women and how there are alot of extra things that Chloe had to think about when it came to her image. I loved seeing her growth as well. Matt our male MMC I liked him. I think he played the role he was supposed to in the story. I liked seeing his journey of him overcoming PTSD he had related to his riding partner. One thing that I did not like was that sometimes he didn't take the boundaries that Chloe needed to keep serious enough. He definitely felt a bit selfish sometimes . The only other complaint I had was the pacing of the book it was doing good then it seemed like things got wrapped up really quick. Overall though I still really liked this book and would recommend it to others.

As Always I will post my reviews on goodreads as well as tiktok and instagram a month before release date

I’ve seen a lot of other reviews share similar points in regards to not being able to get into this. I started this in May and have struggled to want to pick this back up, besides the sole purpose of just getting through it.

I’m not someone who’s familiar with F1, but have read other sports romance books in the past and still enjoyed them. This one I just couldn’t jive with :( Although I actually really enjoyed the author’s writing style, I found myself daydreaming and thinking of other things while continuing to turn the pages on this. I felt that the beginning felt incredibly rushed and from there, I just couldn’t get into it.

I’m thinking that maybe if you’re an F1 lover (and I know a lot of people are!), this might be more up your alley. Unfortunately, I just could not get myself to finish this one.

3.5 🌟thank you netgalley for this ARC. i wanted to love this book so much but for me it just did not hit the spot. It was my first F1 book and i dont know much about f1 and was hoping this would be a great intro. I loved the premise of childhood crush but honestly i wanted to see more growth from chloe , she just felt so immature and that got old a bit quick. combined with the slow burn it just began to feel very repetitive. Overall it was a good book and a good mix of plot and spice.

thank you netgalley for the ARC of this book!! Having recently become obsessed with formula 1, I was very excited for this read! there were a few errors as an f1 fan that made me cringe here and there, but overall I really enjoyed this! The mcs had amazing chemistry and I was definitely rooting for them, not just their relationship but on the circuit as well. Such a fun summer read, especially during race season!!

Did I just become an F1-genre girly??? It's a short jump from one pro sport romance to another, I guess 🤣

This was a super fun read, despite the MMC dealing with PTSD from a car crash and the inherit sexism that every woman-in-a-male-field gets. I really felt like Chloe was a likable character and watching her confidence grow throughout the story was done really well. The spicy scenes are good, though the story as a whole was a little off pacing-wise to me. Overall, I liked it and read it in basically an afternoon, so I'll be recommending this!
