This is my first VH Nicolson book but certainly won't be the last 😌
If you want something with light angst and a couple who actually communicates with each other then this might be right up your alley (which was a pleasant surprise for me). Generally I'm not a fan of the insta-lust element in romance books, but as with any case, you just need to find the right one that works well and that happens to be the case for this book.
In this story, we have Ari (Arianna) (29) and Nathan (44) who start off as an electrifying toe curling one night stand and then later we learn that with a twist of fate, Ari ends up as Nathan's secretary during her first day of work at Nathan's family law firm, Hart Law. She originally applied to Hart Law as a records clerk as a means to find the truth behind a tragedy in her past and seek justice. Only, in this case, Ari believes that Nathan's own father was the lawyer who helped exonerate someone who was responsible for the death of her family members. Of course, a tale as old as time, as she gets more involved with him, Ari catches feelings for Nathan, she learns more about his family, and thus her own judgement about Nathan's father's involvement in the lack of justice around her family's demise, becomes clouded. And you could only guess what happens next when certain truths and deceptions are revealed...
Ok so we do get a third act breakup around 85-90% in and while I understand it is frustrating, it's actually one of my guilty pleasures in romance books. In my eyes, what makes or breaks a relationship is how the couple handles any challenges that come their way. In this case, the conflict was handled with more maturity that I was expecting and without giving away any spoilers: the party who was offended (gosh darn it I sound like a lawyer now!) didn't hold any petty grudges towards the offending party but the matter was handled with care (without pettiness) with the support of their loyal friends.
All in all, I liked that this was light and didn't have too many complications, in that the relationship wasn't as toxic as other billionaire boss-EA romances that I've read previously. I really enjoyed Ari and Nathan's banter and the goat yoga scene was a nice comedic touch. It really added to their budding relationship beyond the physical chemistry they shared. I also liked that Nathan, while he portrayed himself as a virile masculine manly man who has great sexual prowess, he wasn't afraid to be vulnerable around Ari and in his POV, we got to see that he was open to exploring a deeper connection with her rather than shutting her down or consider his romantic feelings to be a hindrance to his career, so kudos to that. I also really enjoyed Nathan's family members and his relationship with his brothers and parents.
My only problem (and the reason why this is a 3 star instead of 4 or 5) was I wish we got to explore the relationship between his siblings. Wish they were more involved in the story and other than Max, we don't really see much going for the other sibling's personal lives. It's funny because they are probably one of least toxic fictional billionaire families I read in a romance book but they rarely had any screen time in this story. Also I don't believe any of the other books are about the siblings either, which is a pity because I would be totally open to reading about them as well because I rather enjoyed their presence in this story. Typically, when I really enjoy a story, I want to become more invested in the character's "universe" through the exploration of other characters in said story.
Anyway, thank you Net Galley and Bold Book Club for providing an eARC and sorry I didn't read it sooner!

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

The chemistry between the characters was really great, and I really loved the elements of mystery incorporated into the story as well. It definitely pulled you in and set a great stage for the romance.

I really enjoyed this story. The chemistry between Nathan and Arianna from the beginning was amazing. The whole Hart family just took you in as you were one of there own. I really enjoyed that.
The story was really well written. Once I finally started reading I just couldn't stop.

Oh, what a fabulous start to this new series by VH Nicholson!
The story follows Arianna (a lady who has lost everything and who's main desire is.for sweet, sweet revenge) and Nathan (a hot city lawyer who prides himself in sticking to the rules!)
I absolutely adored this story, as while it is a romance there was an element of mystery there as you learned about Arianna and her past, as she pieces things together!
She completely embodies 'Hell hath no fear...' as she works to destroy Hart Law... who, coincidently Nathan works for...
Nathan is definitely a straight laced kinda guy and feels like he is married to the job almost! I did like Nathan to begin woth but as I learned more and more about him, and saw his character development I ended up loving him!
The mystery element was very clever as of course, not everything is as it seems and both Arianna and the reader pieces together evidence of more her life was torn apart.
This was such a brilliant book and a brilliant start to the series!
I can't wait to see what happens next!

Ariana is out for revenge and her plan starts by landing a job at the law firm owned by the man who let her family’s killer walk free. But the night before her first day, she meets Nathan… that man’s son and they instantly hit it off. Hooking up. It should’ve ended there, but the world has other plans. Ariana gets promoted, to the role of Nathan’s assistant.
This book is insta lusty with the spice kicking off immediately and not slowing down. We’re talking VERRRY spicy. age gap, workplace romance. SOOOO GOOD.
This was my first read by V.H. Nicolson, but definitely not my last. I’ll be diving into the rest of the Hart brothers’ stories. I devoured this in a day because I could not put it down. THANK YOU!!!

Wow! What a great book, it was packed full with deep connections and character growth, the instant chemistry between Ari and Nathan was palpable. I loved the fire in Ari, and how strong willed and confident she was. I loved how persistent Nathan was in what he wanted! It had silliness, serious moments and core family values that made the story relatable and memorable!
As always with Vickys writing the characters are very likeable and they are easy to route for and connect with. I am hoping this is a start to a series about the Hart brothers because nothing screams GIVE ME MORE than four hot billionaire brothers!!
Lastly, Vicky, I love you and your brilliant ability to bring me to tears with your characters!! 🫶🏼

• Being this agreeable is completely out of character for me.
• “I’m sorry you made the mistake of falling onto my cock and riding it all night.”
• And she tastes like consequences, really fucking bad ones.
• “Fuck it.”

Intriguing right off the bat then dives right into insta love and one night stands that are hot and heavy. They don’t learn much about each other until 40% but they’re obsessed. So much so that Ari forgets her mission on why she joined the law firm for the majority of the book. I found myself putting this book down in favour of picking up other books because there didn’t seem to be much going on until the third act when everything seems to happen at once. Wild, passionate, workplace age-gap romance filled with hate sex, cheesy one-liners and bad decisions but will make you want to read more to find out the answers Ari is desperate to find.

🥵 Spicy chapters: 3, 12, 17, 30, 32, 35, 50
📚 Tropes/Themes: lawyer X secretary, he falls first and harder, obsessed MMC, possessive MMC, billionaire, one night stand, age gap, workplace romance, forbidden Romance
👀 Dual POV 1st person
💔 Triggers: death, car accident
💬 This was such a great palette cleanser after all the books I've been reading lately! I really enjoyed it.
So I think this is the first boss x secretary romance book I've read and specifically because it's an attorney and his legal secretary it reminded me of Suits 🤤🤤🤤 Harvey Specter 🫦💦. Like I don't necessarily think that that's what it was meant to be, but if that was what Nicolson had in mind it worked as Suits fanfiction.
This book was sweet and spicy and surprisingly sucked me in really quick. I didn't quite know what to expect from this book I had accepted it as a widget without doing a whole lot of research but I'm glad that I did.
This is also the kind of age gap I can get behind. I'm really not a huge fan of the barely legal aged female with someone in their 35+. I'll be honest it kind of creeps me out but with this because they were both well into being adults and established in their lives I enjoyed that aspect of it.
And honestly I don't even normally go for books with obsessive/possessive MMCs but there is something about Nathan but I really liked- like the way that he was obsessed and the way he took care of her. I'm probably not explaining it well there was just something really cute about the way he fell for her but made me smile.
Hopefully there will be books about his brothers too 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I love a romance rooted in a revenge plot and this one absolutely nailed it.
The first in a new series, it introduces The Hart Brothers and their law firm. Arianna is set to take them down, via Nathan. Who is hot, successful and not at all what she expected.
Hot with a well written plot, I really enjoyed this book.

The first in a new series, Breaking His Law introduces the Hart brothers.
Arianna is out for revenge. She wants to take down Hart Law - the company that represented the man who shattered her world. But when she spends the night with Nathan Hart, her plan becomes more complicated.
Written from the dual perspective of both main characters, this is a spicy romance with a deeper side, as the motivations behind both characters' actions are explored.
I will certainly look out for the other books in the series.

This was a well written, well paced book. Arianna and Nathan are quite dynamic together. They work hard, play hard and love hard. I really could have done w/o the age gap, it added no purpose to the story.
Other than that, the conflicts were handled well.

Ohhhh I love a good office romance, and this was IT! Arianna and Nathan are fiery hot! Spicy, drama-filled, and a page turner, this was my first read from this author and so glad to see the brothers will be getting their books too! Great start to the series!

It's a story that delivers an emotional hit from the start. As we relive Ari's nightmare childhood experience, it's clear why it defines her. Ari is out for revenge, but meeting Nathan changes things. Nathan and his brothers are billionaire lawyers. They are reknown for their ethics, but Ari believes differently. After an unforgettable night, Ari goes to work at Nathan's company, but things don't go as expected, and she finds she is working directly with Nathan. I like the complex characters and the raw emotion this story explores. It makes the couple relatable and easy to invest in. Even though you can see the dangers ahead, you hope for a positive outcome. The romance is hot, but the conflicts are many, and right to the end, you are not sure.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Thank you to VH Nicolson, Boldwood Books, and Netgalley for the ARC. My review is voluntary and all opinions are mine.
This was a pretty fast read. It definitely has heat so if you like it spicy this book is for you! The characters are well written showing many emotions. Loved the strong family aspect as well.

Some romance books you start at 7pm and just can’t put down. I read this book in one night and had no regrets chugging coffee and Redbull the next morning.
This book has almost instalove definitely insta-lust, and I love a MFC who knows what she wants and goes for it. Here Ari is out for revenge and she is going for it but Nathan was something she did not account for in her revenge plans. There was enough spice to keep it classy and the characters were pretty well rounded that I got attached enough to want to read the whole book all night. If you are looking for a good office romance this is a good choice to pick up.

The chemistry between these two practically leaps off the page from their very first encounter. I loved how both characters pushed each other — Nathan, the confident and commanding boss who isn’t used to losing control, and Arianna, the fierce heroine who refuses to back down even when her heart is on the line.

Phew…this is quite a spicy read. I absolutely loved the character of Nathan - I mean what girl wouldn’t haha!
The book follows Ari and Nathan. Nathan is a billionaire lawyer who doesn’t do commitment and Ari is a legal secretary looking for revenge for her families death.
There are so many tropes covered by this book - slow-burn, office romance, enemies to lovers, age gap romance to name but a few.
I found myself really sucked into this novel and can’t wait to read the next in the ‘The Billionaire Hart Brothers’ series.

A brilliant story that’s got to be now one of my favourite VH books!
Nathan is everything! Successful, hot, dirty mouth. workaholic, older and i loved him. This man who works late, doesn’t do commitment and has no intentions of settling down, falls and falls hard.
Ari brings this story humour, her wit is refreshing. Her confidence and whole personality i loved.
These two explore the undeniable chemistry and explosive passion that’s leads to love. But Ari is hiding something, determined to find answers and truths about her tragic past and loss it could be the very thing to break them apart. You just know this truth will be revealed and when it does the bombshells crack my stomach sank and from
then on i had constant big droplets of tears fall from my face. The story is funny, full of passion and heat. It’s heartbreaking and it’s living. It’s what i’d call an excellent all rounder that feeds all the things i love .
What a start to a new series and intro to this world. now we wait the rest of the brothers !

A spicy billionaire, work-place trope that's well written. I love VH Nicolson's books and this one didn't disappoint!
Arianna lost her parents and sister at a young age and has plotted revenge for years. She joins the Hart brothers at their law firm to get an inside track on them and bringing down her revenge. However, a one night stand with one of the brothers will turn into something more and make her rethink everything she's wanted to do.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
