Absolutely baffled that so many people thought this was a nailbiter. It was incredibly predictable. Patrick gave himself away this moment he called Maureen by a nickname. Maureen gave herself away the moment she knew Patrick’s name. That left another 70% of the book where I hoped there would be a twist. There wasn’t. Total letdown of a read. I do not recommend this one.

Read the book in just one sitting as the short chapters and the fast paced style helped keeping me hooked to the story.
Imogen and her husband Patrick move from London to the countryside to build their new life, they're both very successful professionally, he's a lawyer, she's an established artist and both very rich (as Imogen likes to remind the reader a bit too often) na they're ready to start a new chapter. There's a substantial age gap between them and consequently a lot of history on both sides.
We understand Patrick's ex-wife and daughter are still very much in his life and Imogen has gone through some major trauma that is only hinted at the beginning and that will be explained to us towards the end of the story, but a bit too quickly for my liking. Such a trauma, something that shapes the personality of the MC so much, should have been explored a bit more deeply, I believe...
Everything happens so quickly that you can't really build a connection with Imogen or empathise with her too much, the plot twist at the end is surprising if you're new to the thriller/suspenseful genre.
I guess it's perfect if you're looking for a mild thriller and a quick easy read. I enjoyed it as a nice afternoon read.

In this chilling psychological thriller, a woman moves to the countryside for a fresh start, only to find herself trapped in a web of paranoia and fear. As strange events and unsettling occurrences escalate, she begins to question her sanity, wondering if the real danger is lurking closer than she ever imagined. Perfect for fans of Lucy Foley and Freida McFadden.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this book Net Galley . It was an average book with not a lot of surprises, the characters were a bit bland and on the whole the story was just an ok read . I give this book 3 stars

Wow what an amazing book. I loved the whole thing from start to finish. Easy 4.5 stars. There were some typos that I found.

The Silent House is a twisty, fast paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this down. This is well written with short, cliff hanging chapters that keep you engaged. I questioned everyone in this book, including the MC at some points. Although the WHO of it all was predictable, the WHY of it all was not which made a really enjoyable ending. Read this if you enjoy a quick, page turning thriller with questionable characters.
Thank you H.M. Lynn, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

The Silent House was well written and well paced. My anxiety was up while not knowing who Imogen could trust. I definitely didn’t expect the ending. Well worth the read!

Creepy, tense, almost claustrophobic domestic mystery that definitely should be read during the day, with a snack, chocolate perhaps. Because you will get tense, and might be tempted to cheat and rush ahead to get relief, but no, don't do that! Quite the domestic thriller with many twists and surprises.

Creepy!! Wow this one caught me off guard..what a twist.. supburb!! Perfect characters and great cant out down book.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.

This was an OK read, though a bit predictable. It centers on Imogen, who is moving to her dream house in the countryside with her new husband, Patrick. As soon as they get there, creepy things start happening and Imogen thinks someone is out to get her, but Patrick doesn't take her seriously. As things escalate, we have to decide how reliable of a narrator Imogen actually is.
I do love an unreliable narrator but I didn't really connect with Imogen- she seemed to let a lot of stuff go and constantly said she couldn't stay mad at Patrick, even when it seemed like he treated her badly. She was just a little too naive for my taste. The setting of the book was good, though, and I thought the things that happened were suitably creepy. I had an idea of how it was all going to go, and I was close, but the villain reveal managed to be predictable and totally unrealistic at the same time. It felt like the ending was rather abrupt and left me with a few unanswered questions.
Overall, this was a quick and decent read, but I am not sure it really stands out in the psychological thriller genre. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I had a mixed bag with Silent House. The plot was pretty straightforward, so I didn’t get too surprised by any twists or turns. That said, the short chapters kept the pace moving, making it a quick and easy read. It’s probably more of a light suspense book for folks who prefer it simple, but it didn’t really stick with me.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy

The Silent House is a gripping psychological thriller that kept me hooked through the whole book. I loved the tense atmosphere and the constant feeling of unease as Imogen struggled to figure out what was real and who she could trust. The short chapters made it a really easy and fast read, and I enjoyed how the suspense built steadily throughout.
Even though I guessed part of the twist, there were still plenty of surprises that kept me turning the pages. A really solid thriller that fans of psychological suspense will enjoy.
Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and H.M. Lynn for the ARC.

This was a pretty typical thriller about paranoia from a new home that's nowhere near as perfect as it seems. Imogen and her husband, Patrick, move to the countryside into their new home, and weird things start happening almost from the start. They only have a few neighbors, but their closest neighbor introduces herself right away and immediately creeps Imogen out. Of course, Patrick writes her off as a lonely old woman, and Imogen lets it go. Then she starts believing she's being watched and that someone has been in their home. It follows that way for a bit, and at least Patrick starts believing her, unlike many stories where the husband ignores her worry.
The story continues on and soon Imogen discovers Patrick has been lying about being in contact with his ex, and again, Imogen lets it go. She also has a stepdaughter named Prim who completely hates Imogen and isn't allowed in their home which is apparently normal and ok with Patrick. Then the ending comes which isn't surprising at all and suddenly it gets even more ridiculous and then it's over. Clearly, I wasn't a fan.
There weren't enough characters to make the story suspenseful, and most readers will see the end coming a mile away. Maybe if the story was longer, or not so much given away throughout, I don't know. And even the title is a bit off and doesn't capture the themes of the story. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you need something to read, it flows quickly and isn't long and drawn out, and maybe that's enough?
Moving to the countryside with Patrick was supposed to be my fresh start. But from the moment we arrived, something felt… off. The locals are strange, and I feel like I’m being watched. The constantly moving shadows outside our window can’t just be from the trees, can they?
And when someone breaks into our home, I can’t shake the feeling someone’s out to get me.
The more isolated I feel, the more the cracks begin to show. Am I being driven to the edge, or am I losing my mind? This beautiful house was meant to be my haven, but now it feels like a prison.
And the real danger? It might be closer than I ever imagined…

WOW! This was such a page-turner. A very fast read, super meaty with so much character development. It was twist after twist and that ending... I gasped out lout!! Solid 5 stars.

I finished this in one sitting because it was so engaging. Fast-paced with plenty of twists and an explosive ending. Everything you want in a thriller.

It's been awhile since I've read a book in just a couple days but The Silent House was an easy read with short chapters and quick moving story. A woman and her husband move into a new house, prepared to start a new life and new family. But soon strange things begin to happen. Filled with twists and turns, this thriller was an engaging and fun read. I couldn't put it down! Thank you to Boldwood Books for inviting me to read this ARC.

I got to know this author not so long ago, and the first book I read was particularly enjoyable. That’s why I’m also thrilled to have the opportunity to read this story.
Moving from a city to the countryside... I know that feeling because I did it myself a few years ago. It’s really great here, and I can’t imagine ever going back to live in all that hustle and bustle. I also don’t understand how I managed to cope with it for so many years.
I do have to admit that the village I live in is very lively and can’t really be compared to the new home of Imogen and Patrick. It almost seems like they’ve moved to the edge of civilization, and the villagers are, to say the least, rather strange. Luckily, there’s a friendly neighbor who gives the couple a warm welcome.
Gradually, we start to get to know the characters better, and we also get Imogen’s backstory. Is it because of her traumatic experience that she fears once again that she’s becoming paranoid—or is something else going on?
Who can she trust, and who is weaving a web of lies around her?
For me, this is a very smoothly written book, and I, too, eventually didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t. The author built everything up perfectly to the surprising finale.
I spent a few enjoyable hours in the company of this author’s musings. I’m happy to give it 5 stars.
Thank you.

Review of ‘The Silent House ’ by H.M. Lynn, due for publication on 12 June 2025 by Boldwood Books.
Fabulous psychological thriller - each chapter twists and turns in unexpected ways - just as you think you’ve figured it out, the direction changes again and you begin to suspect someone else, and question your own sanity!
Not knowing what to believe or who to trust, it kept me gripped to the end.

This was a great psychological thriller, a quick and easy read. It was a page turner that you could get through within a day. It was quite creepy in parts and eerie! I’d definitely read more by this author
