Imogen and Patrick are moving into a new house, which is supposed to be a fresh start for them both. It is out in the countryside, and not too close to any neighbours. Patrick is older than Imogen, which does not appear to be a problem for either of them, but Patrick has a daughter who is near Imogens age, and she does not like Imogen. The first day of moving into the new house, Imogen is upset to discover that Patrick has given his daughter a key to the new house, so she does not feel left out and can come and stay when she likes. Imogen is not happy about this, but is soon to find out that this could be the least of her worries.
This is a tense psychological thriller that had me up late turning the pages. Strange happenings at the new house, Imogen feeling constantly watched, and not knowing who to trust all combine to give a riveting read, with an ending I did not anticipate. I will look for more books by this author. 5 stars.

This was excellent! I finished in 24 hours! This is my first read by this author and would love to dive in to more. It was easy reading but kept my attention hooked. And the ending? Did not see it coming!

Thank you to H.M. Lynn, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Imogen and Patrick move from the city to the countryside for a fresh start but things descend into a chilling descent of paranoia and uncertainty forcing Imogen to question the motives of everyone around her, from the seemingly harmless villagers to even those closest to her heart. Is it merely stress and exhaustion manifesting in her mind, or is something more sinister at play?

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The pacing was great and it moved along briskly, never allowing the story to lag. I particularly liked the short chapters, each one acted as a mini-cliffhanger, leaving me eager to delve into the next.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Boldwood for an early copy.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Silent House by H.M. Lynn due to be published June 12, 2025.

When Imogen moves to the countryside with Patrick it was supposed to be a fresh start. But something seems off. Her neighbor, Maureen, seems helpful, but is she? Or is she part of the problem with all the strange happenings around Imogen’s house?

This was another one of those that you can’t figure out who the good ones or the bad ones are until the end – kept me guessing and held my interest the entire book. A great read by H.M. Lynn.
