Lady Maggie is not your typical debutante—she much prefers the company of dogs over people, cricket over courtship, and independence over anything as fickle as love. But when her childhood enemy, Lord Michael Viscount Burlington, struts back into her life with a smile as dangerous as it is charming, all her carefully built defenses start to wobble.

Determined not to fall for his charm a second time, Maggie devises the perfect plan: make the viscount fall for her, and then shatter his heart just as he once did hers. Simple, elegant, ruthless. Except... nothing about Michael is quite as she remembers.

Michael has spent years in the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing, trying to forge an identity outside the confines of his title. The last thing he wants is to settle down with a simpering society bride. But Maggie is different - bold, infuriating, wild, and the only person who truly understands the pain that drives him. The more time he spends with her, the more he realizes he never really stopped caring. And maybe he never will.

As Maggie’s plan begins to crumble and Michael prepares for the biggest fight of his life, both must confront old wounds and decide whether revenge is worth more than love. The chemistry between them sizzles off the page, their banter is as razor sharp, and the emotional payoff is immensely satisfying.

This is a romance that understands that love doesn’t mean giving up who you are—it means finding someone who sees all of you and stays. Funny, heartfelt, and deeply romantic, this story serves its revenge with a wink and its love story with a knockout punch.

Less about cricket, but a lot about love.
Explicit sex.

The Lucky Catch was my first introduction to the Cricket series by Margaux Thorne. I didn’t realize it was part of a series. The beginning of the story felt kind of rushed and was confusing? A gun went off in the church? Odd. Anyway - romance ensues with the Viscount who is also a boxer and his lady. There are some laugh out loud moments and lots of steam, but also moments that made me go “huh?” Not sure if that’s because I didn’t read book 1.

This book was an entertaining enemies to lovers book. Both Maggie and Michael are unusual, she plays cricket and he is a prize fighter. Their bickering and pranks were engaging but juvenile. This was the first book I read in this series and the premise is unique.

This is the best book so far out of the Cricket Club series. I am a sucker for former childhood friends/enemies to lovers. Maggie always trying to make sure the childhood bullies didn't focus their ire on him. Made me downright misty eyed. This is a couple that was made for each other, and so incredibly hot.

I hope Jo and Oliver are next!!
And maybe someday we can get the prequel of Arthur and Maxwell, please!

Thank you to Dragonblade for the copy of this book. Opinions are my own.

This historical romance is part of a series, but each book can be read alone. They are based around a group of ladies that love to play cricket. Not perhaps a ladylike game. There actually is not much cricket in this story. But our heroine is part of the team. She has always been an independent young woman.
Our hero is a childhood friend, a Viscount, and a boxer. Also a sport that is not really aceptable to society.
Can so many wild sparks be contained successfully ?
This story has a lot of great characters and plenty of excitement.
I loved it.

This fourth book in The Lucky Cricket Club series is a charming and well written enemies to lovers historical romance. The characters are delightful, complex, likable, and have a strong chemistry with delicious steam. The story was full of action, drama, humor, wit, blackmail, interesting parents, bare knuckle boxing, and many emotional issues that kept me entertained. I enjoyed the pup. The ending was lovely. I highly recommend reading!

They act like children...

At nineteen, Maggie is still arguing with Michael. They really do act like children though out this book. They bicker, but maybe not in the fun way. Often, their antics are immature.

A Delightful Historical Romance
Michael was Maggie’s childhood nemesis, always teasing her, but now that they’re grown, the spark of something deeper may be hiding beneath that animosity. After a game of chess ends with a missed kiss, Maggie is determined to make Michael fall in love with her, only to break his heart. But as she puts her plan into action, she quickly realizes she’s the one falling for him—and Michael has no intention of letting go of her heart.
I found this story both captivating and emotional. Maggie’s strength and fiery spirit shine through, making her an unforgettable character. The mix of humor, heartbreak, and romance kept me hooked. Watching Maggie and Michael navigate their complex feelings made for a truly engaging read.
I’m eager to see what’s next in this series!

While it may be true that revenge is a dish best served cold, Maggie and Michael heat up The Lucky Catch's pages. Maggie’s plans take a slow turn, and revenge may not be so sweet now that her heart’s engaged and that grudge she’s held onto for years no longer seems so important.

Michael and Maggie’s romance is the fourth in The Cricket Club series. Aside from settling in at the beginning as I learned the background and the characters in this series, since I have not yet read the earlier titles, I wasn’t lost, as this couple’s story stands out on its own.

Most of what you’d want to know before picking up The Lucky Catch can be found in the cover description blurb. What isn’t there are the emotions that each will discover as they deal with the adult people they’ve become, and important details come to light. I enjoyed my time in this world, and will go back to get caught up on the earlier titles. You’ll find a well-written, character-driven, intense, steamy, and emotional journey through the eyes of two very stubborn, but realistic people. There are some things that may surprise you, but mostly, you’ll be entertained as you enjoy watching as love finds a way for Maggie and Michael.

The Lucky Catch is the fourth book in The Cricket Club series. This can be a stand-alone read.

Lady Maggie has been raised by her unconventional grandmother. With her parents more often away, she has become a misfit of the ton. She believes dogs are better companions than most of the people she has come to know. But when Lord Michael Viscount Burlington returns to her life, the two strong willed people will be determined for the winner to take all.

This was a nice afternoon read. The main characters were well written, but several of the supporting characters felt weak and not necessary for the plot. Still a worthwhile read.

I was unaware of this author before this book, and will now look for her other books. This story was so fun to read. It has so much emotional depth in the story and the characterizations. Maggie is so self assured, but longs for Michael's love and attention. Both have challenging relationships with their parents that have influenced who they've become. This is a must read story that will not let you down!

This was such a fun, steamy read—Maggie and Michael had GREAT chemistry! I love a good enemies to lovers trope and the author nailed it! No unnecessary breakups, just two people actually working through stuff like adults (thank you!). This is the first book I’ve read in the series and I can’t wait to go back and read the others. Please note, this book works completely fine as a standalone - I had no trouble keeping up!

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC. This was such a fun read!

This was an absolute delight. I loved both Michael and Maggie. They were so cute together and this was HOT.

I did miss cricket in this book it didn't feel as focused. But it still had the sports angle with the boxing so that was really nice. I do like that this seemed like the romance story with plot that they worked through to get to their happy ending. None of the plot points cause any break ups which I really appreciated that they worked together to get over the issues.

I also really liked her aunt and his dad, love supportive cast.

I thought this one was really HOT. Just want to reiterate that.

Book 4 is just as amazing as the first three in the series. Maggie is a truly independent and well rounded young woman. Yet, secretly her heart belongs to Michael. He on the other hand doesn't seem to notice. The interaction between the two is riotous, then when you add in the plan for revenge it gets even better. The characters both primary and secondary are full of life, joy and mischief. A winner from beginning to end. The entire series is different, a bit outside of what the ton would ever accept, however it's so terrific that it doesn't bring the story down at all.

stopppppppp it was so cute and hot

Loved it! It started off hot, then it got silly with the revange plan, but then it was cute and hot and silly at the same time! So many good moments, they talked like adults, connected, and made sure there was no room for miscommunication. Thank God!

Sixth star for the doggies!

Also, Michael's dad? I need to read his and max's story right now

Asking for a friend, please tell me Oliver's book is next. I need this man's book RIGHT NOW! I mean... a friend needs it, yeah yeah

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC, I had an amazing time reading it. GIVE ME MORE.

Revenge is on her mind, but love is in her heart...

With her globetrotting parents seldom at home and her brothers at boarding school, Maggie, a marquess’s daughter, was mostly raised by her free-spirited grandmother. Competitive, outspoken and fiercely independent, she’s a misfit. Marriage isn’t on her mind, and besides, her heart is spoken for. Has been for a long time.
His father loving and kind, but never inconspicuous enough for Society’s gossips, Michael was bullied from a young age. To deflect he joined the others in making fun of wild little Maggie – he moved on, they never did. Later on, he poured his anger into bare-knuckle boxing; something he became so good at he’s finally ready to face the current champion.

They’ve known each other forever; he always the thorn in her side, and she the little sprite who wouldn’t back down. Now, all grown-up, he pushes her buttons one too many times, and she decides it’s high time to get even.

A gorgeous and refreshing romance! At first glance these two may appear childhood enemies, but first glances can be deceptive... The truth is such a powerful and moving moment in this book; it tips the scales, and there’s no going back.
I really enjoyed the past/present puzzle throughout the story – a slow unveiling – and with both MCs strong and steadfast, I loved how much they gave of themselves without losing their own personality. He loves to rile her, and she gives as good as she gets, but most of all they’re loyal. Their chemistry is marvellous, and so is their bickering. I also really loved how the dark moment near the end was a show of maturity and not unnecessary drama. Yes, they both get sidetracked and they both screw up, but they actually talk! And the steam was absolutely delectable!

A wonderful and different read! I’ve loved this series form the start and I can’t wait to find out what’s next!

Tropes: enemies to lovers: MMC is a boxer; MFC is a misfit in the Ton
Steam level: 3
Part of a series; fine as a standalone if you hang in there through the first chapter.

This is a charming, engaging, well-executed enemies-to-lovers. A while back I stumbled upon this author's previous series, which was pretty good, and I've noticed an improvement in her writing. Although this is the first entry in this series I've had a chance to check out, after a bit of confusion about the plot/characters in the first chapter, which opens with some dramatic action from the end of the previous book, I was hooked. There's a nice balance between dialog and inner ruminations, plenty of humor as well as steam, Michael and Maggie have great chemistry, and there are some cute animal hijinks, which was a hallmark of a couple of the books in the previous series. Also, while this is more character than plot-driven, I never found myself bored.

Nitpicks have to do with the lack of realism (Maggie does a lot of things on her own or with Michael that should have ruined her rep; dancing with a duke three times at a ball would have been tantamount to an announcement of a relationship; the TSTL "running off to St. Giles at night" trope) and Maggie's abilities as an athlete are never on display (she actually downplays them). Also, the secondary characters could have been a bit more developed. Maggie's friends, who I thought would play a larger role toward the end, disappeared. And why introduce a powerful duke if he doesn't do more to help out the MC's in the last chapters?

Still, I was able to forgive shortcomings due to the genuineness of the main characters' relationship, including an excellent epilogue, and the author's investment in the HEA. This is an author to look out for.
