If you watched Season 1 of Maxton Hall , this book picks up where you left off. After dealing with the death of his Mom and losing Ruby, he turns to alcohol. Everyone is worried about him, so Ruby tries to help, making it clear she is over their romance.

This was a quick read. A lot of normal teen drama. The ending was a cliffhanger leading up to the third book Save Us.

If you watched and loved the show, you will enjoy this book.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC copy!

✨”I'm not giving up as long as there's even a single glimmer of hope for us.”✨

… And that’s exactly the main point of Save You, book 2 in the Maxton Hall series. Ruby and James are on a continuous rollercoaster, attempting to overcome every new obstacle that threatens to keep them apart, and there are plenty!
This middle book is exactly the drama that I expected and hoped for. As much as I hate seeing them spend time apart, I love the pining and yearning from both sides. The cliffhanger at the end of this book has me begging for book 3!!

I love the multiple pov we got in Save You and find myself invested in the side characters as well.
I can’t wait to see how this story ends for everyone!

💗multiple pov (Ruby, James, and both sisters, Lydia & Ember)
💗mutual pining
💗found family strengthens
💗family struggles and recovery from loss
💗’whatever it takes to win her back’

Thank you SO much to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing, and author Mona Kasten for the opportunity to arc read this series- some of my most anticipated reads of the year! Loving them!!!

After watching Maxton Hall on Amazon, I was completely hooked on the story and needed more of Ruby and James in my life. So imagine my disappointment when I realized the books hadn’t been translated into English yet... total heartbreak. But then, I saw Save You as an ARC and got accepted, and honestly, I couldn’t have been happier. Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for the chance to read this early!

Save You picks up right where Save Me left off, and the emotional rollercoaster doesn’t let up. Ruby is devastated by what she believes is James’ betrayal and tries to disappear into herself, while James spirals, using every bad coping mechanism in the book. It’s raw, it’s messy, and it hurts, in the best, most addicting way.

Ruby’s growth in this book really stood out to me. She doesn’t just run back to James, and I respected that. She takes her time, processes everything, and only opens the door again when she’s ready. James, on the other hand, is fully in redemption mode because he knows he messed up and is actually willing to do the work. Their scene at the observatory? Perfection. I felt like James finally got it.

Lydia remains one of my favorite characters. Her loyalty and growth were beautiful to see, and I love that we got her perspective this time around (along with Ember’s, which brought some added dimension too). Their POVs helped round out the world and gave insight into side plots I now need answers to, especially after that cliffhanger!

There were moments that genuinely made me tear up, and I wasn’t expecting the emotional depth to hit quite so hard. These characters feel real; they are flawed, complicated, and trying their best.

I need Save Us immediately. Like, yesterday.

If you loved the Maxton Hall series and crave emotional slow burn drama with heart and character development, this sequel delivers.

After watching Maxton Hall, I became so intrigued by the books. Finding out that they were not translated in English yet was a little disappointing. Fast forward, and I saw Save You as an ARC. I was so excited and happy to be accepted for this!

Save You begins where Save Me ended. Ruby feels betrayed by James after everything they shared in Oxford. Not knowing that Mrs. Beaufort died, Ruby tries hard to forget James. Hiding in her room and feigning illness, Ruby becomes a ghost of her former self.

Meanwhile, to cope with everything, James leans on vices. Lydia tries her best to pull James back. She attempts to reach out to Ruby to no avail. Finally, after finding out everything that happened, Ruby comforts James. However, she isn’t ready to forgive and forget.

From here, James and Ruby try their best to find a way to deal with each other especially at school. Lydia continues to hide her situation from Graham and everyone else. The other characters like Ember, Lin, Wren, Cyril, Alistair, and Kesh have their own issues to handle.

Save You did not disappoint as a sequel. It tore my heart and made me cry in all the right scenes. I love Ruby’s strength in this book not just for James but for herself as well. She allowed herself time to think about everything that happened. I think Ruby showed maturity in this book.

The same goes for James. He knew he made the worst decisions possible especially when he went through a self-destructive period. With Ruby, he did everything to win her back. I liked how he respected Ruby especially during that moment at the observatory.

Lydia continues to be an amazing character. I love her loyalty to James and Ruby. She was even opening up to those around her and accept their help.

I wish all the characters the best in the next book. They have been through so much, I don’t think I can take more heartbreaks for them. The cliffhanger ending is well written. I can’t wait for Save Us!

Thank you Berkeley Publishing Group for the opportunity to preview this early ARC!!

I read this in basically one sitting!! I don’t want to say a lot about what happens in this book because I don’t want to spoil anything - but I love the characters in this story so much, especially Ruby and James!

We were given 2 additional POVs in this story which expanded the depth of the story!! I love the development of Lydia and Ruby’s friendship. This story has more of emotional impact as the twins are trying to figure out their grief.

If you’re a fan of The Maxton Hall TV series, you’re going to want to grab this when it publishes in English on September 2, 2025.

Romance content: Just kissing!

I absolutely devoured this book! After the cliffhanger from the first book, I was itching to get my hands on the second.

I loved the addition of Lydia and Ember’s points of view. I think it adds a lot to Ruby and James’s story while also delving into sideplots that I could not get enough of.

I enjoyed seeing Ruby and James find their ways back to one another maturely (with lots of angst).

And that ending! Oh my gosh! I need book 3 ASAP!

Ruby and James were not the only people tortured, I was suffering too. Their heartbreak was my heartbreak. The character development was done well. I'm so glad that Ruby didn't immediately forgive James. He did so much grovelling and he really fought for Ruby. They both deserved to be happy finally. Except, the ending of this book. I saw it coming. I was prepared. But it still hurts. I'm about to read the last book. It's bittersweet. I don't want it to end but I'm also excited for everyone to get their happily ever after.

I love this book so much! Did anything major happen? …Not really—except for the last few chapters. But I loved it nonetheless. Watching Ruby and James reconcile and work through their misunderstandings made my heart so happy.

BUT—if James hurts Ruby again, I swear I’ll personally punch him so hard he won’t be able to see what’s right in front of him.

I know the 4 POVs might not be for everyone, but I actually really enjoyed seeing things from Lydia and Ember’s perspectives. I have a feeling we’ll get Graham’s POV in the next book, and I’m so excited for that!

I devoured this book—utterly addictive and full of feels.

This series owns me, and Save You just cemented it. The angst, the heartbreak, the longing—I felt everything. Mona Kasten has such a talent for writing raw, messy characters that get under your skin and make you root for them even when they’re breaking your heart.

Ruby and James? Don’t even get me started. Their chemistry is electric, but it’s the emotional depth that really hit me. The pain, the growth, the trying-to-fix-what’s-broken energy? So good. I couldn’t put it down.

If you love emotionally charged romances with real character development and alllll the tension, this book will eat you alive in the best way.

Rating: 5/5 – Intense, emotional, and impossible to stop reading. Obsessed.

*thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Omg, what did I just read?

I was so excited for book 2 after reading the first and it did not disappoint. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about there being 4 POVs but at the end, it all made sense to me.

I like that we got to be in some new characters heads for this story. It was fun to read from the perspective of Lydia and Ember.

I definitely was not expecting some of what happened. I can't believe the last ~10%! That cliffhanger is killing me.

I really enjoyed this book; I ate it up in only a couple of days (would have been less if I didn't have to work haha).

This series is so addicting, and I NEED book 3 ASAP.

I will post this review on my socials closer to the release date.

just finished save you by mona kasten and wow, i'm emotionally wrecked in the best way possible. this book picks up right where save me left off, diving straight into the emotional chaos of ruby and james's complicated relationship.

ruby is still the grounded, determined girl we loved in the first book, but now she's grappling with the aftermath of james's betrayal. james, on the other hand, is doing everything he can to win her back, and let me tell you, the tension between these two is palpable. their push and pull dynamic kept me on the edge of my seat, flipping pages faster than i should have.

the writing is smooth and engaging, with just the right amount of angst and drama to keep things interesting. the dual perspectives give us insight into both characters' thoughts and feelings, adding depth to their emotional journey. the pacing is spot on, with enough twists and turns to keep you hooked without feeling overwhelmed.

while i absolutely loved the book, i did feel like some of the secondary characters could have been developed a bit more. but honestly, ruby and james's story is so compelling that it didn't bother me too much.

overall, save you is a fantastic continuation of the maxton hall series. if you're a fan of angsty, slow-burn romances with complex characters and emotional depth, this one's for you. i'm already eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

A return to Maxton Hall brings more drama, heartbreak, and high-stakes tension as the Beaufort family reels from the loss of their matriarch — and James and Ruby reel from the loss of each other. Life at the elite boarding school continues to move forward: future plans, university letters, and social pressures swirl around the characters, even as old feelings refuse to fade. Ruby and James can only stay apart for so long, and their inevitable reunion is central to the story’s emotional arc.

This second installment begins at a much slower pace than its predecessor, taking its time to reestablish dynamics and raise the stakes. While I found myself missing the sharp tension and spark of the first book, there are still bright spots here — especially in the evolving friendship between Ruby and Lydia, and the introduction of Ember, who quickly became a standout favorite. Her presence adds both charm and chaos, and I was completely drawn to her arc, even as she begins to make increasingly questionable choices.

The final chapters deliver a dramatic twist that definitely caught me off guard — a cliffhanger that raises the stakes for book three in a big way. While this installment didn’t land quite as strongly for me overall, especially in terms of pacing and narrative energy, I’m still invested in these characters and eager to see how it all plays out.

Oh boy, this series is phenomenal. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book.

This is not my normal type of read - the upper class, school dramas never appealed to me. I think the author's writing of the story and characters really pulled me in.

This book introduced new POVs which I enjoyed. Ruby and James' relationship progressed in a reasonable way.

I highly recommend this series to any romance reader. I'll be first in line to read the next one.

Rated 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC ebook.

Name one thing that happened in this book. I’ll wait.

Second book syndrome was strong with this one. Dull, boring, unnecessary.

The entirety of this book could have been condensed into 50 pages.

We see almost no growth or exciting happenings from Ruby and James. There are many chapters from Ember and Lydia’s perspective. Both of which are snoozefests.

I have high hopes for the next one because dear god was this a letdown.

Kudos to James for maximum pining. That brings it up to two stars.

This book wrecked me in the most addictive way. There’s something so heartbreakingly real about the way Ruby and James orbit each other, filled with pain, pride, and the kind of longing that aches on every page. I love how this book doesn’t rush the healing. It lets the hurt breathe. It gives space for anger and forgiveness to sit beside each other. The writing has a softness that lets the emotional weight land, and the chemistry between them never lets you forget what’s at stake. It’s a story about love, but more than that, it’s about whether people can still choose each other after everything. This series is pure emotional chaos in the best possible way, and I’m completely hooked.
