I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
Look, I'm sorry to be another person saying what in the poor Neon Genesis Evangelion clone is this?!
But what is it?
There's some interesting ideas here, but there's no connection or explanation for anything. No motivation or emotion or drive.
I'm genuinely flabbergasted.
The script is really not very good. The artwork is OK.
This feels like a rather amateur production and passion project.
I'm sorry.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for allowing me to read this weird graphic novel.
Like honestly it’s weird that there was just so many time skips, so many new characters without intros and personalities. I think it is disappointing tbh as the art made me have high expectations for “superhero-like” content but instead I got bored of it all..

Meh. I was really excited to read this because I’m a big Evangelion fan, but it missed the mark for me. The story is about a family who are secretly training to control an ancient machine. The story felt rushed and I didn’t connect with any of the characters. The artwork was nice though. The concept is cool but the story overall was ok.

Chris Moses' Synap seems like a sci-fi adventure for fans of Evangelion (A little too much, even the way the characters act/look feels like it's ripped right out of there) and Gundam Wing, with a focus on found families.
But for me, it was really confusing. The idea of the Synap company building a secret giant robot didn't make much sense, and the small amount of talking didn't help explain things. The story felt really unclear. Plus, the art wasn't always good – sometimes it looked fine, other times it was messy.
Overall, Synap just didn't click with me, and I spent most of the time not knowing what was going on.
