This book started out with a bang and there was action and adventure all the way through! The characters and plot were well developed. This book kept my interest all the way through. I didn’t want to put it down and couldn’t wait to find out who the killer was. I really enjoy Darlene Turner’s books. She is a great author!

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This is quite a unique book, in terms of setting, plot and suspense level! Dekker is a dedicated park ranger, whose occupation is shared with his father and other family members. Blaire is a respected criminal investigator analyst, who is called upon to profile the Park Campfire Killer. Hold on to your hat, as the danger increases for victims of kidnapping, torture and murder, for the campers and park rangers, too. Dekker and Blaire are interested in each other, but each has silent blocks which work to keep them apart, even though they are working together professionally. The killer gives hints and deadlines, and I dare you to guess the killer - I did not! Now I can finally relax, having finished the book and noting how faith is gently woven into the story in a meaningful way. I have only recently been introduced to this wonderful author's books and have enjoyed them greatly. The suspense level she achieves is excellent!
I appreciate the publishers allowing me to read this advance reader copy, and the thoughts expressed are my own.

Darlene L. Turner is so incredibly talented. Danger in the Wilderness is her second book in just two months. I’ve had the privilege to read both and her intricate web of mystery in them is simply remarkable . Mind-boggling really. I tried so hard to figure out the culprit in this one and failed. But wow, with the intrigue, danger and redemptive elements, it’s so worth the read. I highly recommend this book!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

A great to start to a new series by Darlene Turner. What a great page turner lol I just finished this in one hour. It was so good that I couldn't help myself.
Many twists and turns I never saw coming and a fantastic job in keeping us guessing who the perp. was!! Wow!!
Added in the Faith messages makes it an even more wonderful. I love how Turner makes her characters realize that God is sovereign over all and He knows our every move.
I really liked the slow burn romance. I felt the chemistry between Blaire and Dekker as soon as opened the pages.
I thought Blair and Dekker made a wonderful team in getting the job done.
This book makes us realize that we really don't know what goes through a person's mind when something tragic happens to them. I found that interesting. Ppl try and use that as their motive for revenge and that's not healthy and sometimes dangerous for others.
I loved how God protected them.through their journey to.find the killer.
This is a fast paced page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. I can't wait for until the next one!
My favorite thing was that it was set in Canada! I been to Toronto once many years ago.
5 stars from me for a job well done!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Very good read. This book was very well written. Enjoyed the characters and how they developed. I did think the killer was who it was early on, obviously not saying here who it is. Will recommend this book to others and enjoy reading books by this author.

Danger In The Wilderness
Darlene L. Turner
The National Parks is the setting for this tale of murder. The murders are escalating, and they have no idea who the serial killer is. Park Warden Dekker and his father are on a camping trip. Dekker is gathering firewood when he hears shots; his father is missing. Investigative Analyst Blair is investigating the killings. She and Dekker form a bond; they are determined to discover the identity of the killer.
This is a fast paced easy to read tale. This is one of those tales that will keep you guessing. I enjoyed this tale!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Are you ready to stay up all night? If you start reading you will - Dekker was on a camping trip with his Dad in Clovercross National Park in Alaska. But someone else was watching them, and as Dekker was getting firewood he heard two shots and his Dads voice calling his name! He found blood spatter on the rocks around the firepit and a collapsed tent.

Was it the (PCK) Park Campfire Killer striking again? Blaire had just visited the scene of his last abduction looking for clues trying to get inside the killer's head when she heard about Dekker's father and went to the scene with Constable Quinton.

Investigating the campsite, all suspicions pointed to the PCK, a crumpled tent, blood and drag marks.
The search party only has about a week to search, after that the PCK savagely kills his victims and leaves them in the open covered in leaves.

Blaire and Dekker search around the Park in a remote area, then they see a grizzly come towards them and Dekker thwarts it with bear spray - the PCK had spooked the bear so it ran towards them!

Will they survive to find the killer!

How wonderful to have a new series written by a Canadian and featuring a Canadian setting. This is book one and introduces readers to the oldest of the seven Hoyt siblings.

Darlene L. Turner whisked me away to her fictional town of Clovercross Junction, Yukon and had my adrenaline pumping overtime as she shared her race against time wilderness adventure where her characters had to rescue a kidnapped victim and try to catch a deadly serial killer.

The Park Campfire Killer (PCK) has been striking parks and wilderness regions across the Yukon, kidnapping campers before killing them three days later. When one of their own is captured, are the Clovercross National Park Rangers up for the task of stopping this serial killer in his tracks?

Three things:

(1) Turner’s series starter has a sense of urgency that permeates the narrative. Her protagonists in this serial killer trope are in a race against time with the fate of a loved one’s life hanging in the balance. With a killer who evades capture, instills fear in the community, and taunts with his consistent modus operandi, I was rushing along with the rangers, hoping to bring an end to the reign of terror. The ticking clock element heightened the suspense and tension, making the stakes escalate with each page turned.

(2) Turner’s use of setting is spectacular. The vastness of the wilderness, the thunderstorm, and the multitude of hiding spots made the spectacular murder mystery stand out. I believe that the Yukon was a character in this book!

(3) Turner’s messages about God’s sovereignty were noteworthy. We may not be running from a serial killer, but we are certainly living in a world surrounded by evil. We could all do with a reminder about who is in control and who can offer peace and guidance. I appreciated her characters who confronted their fears and learned to rely on God’s provisions.

I can’t wait for book two and time with another Hoyt sibling.

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
