I read this with my 8 year old and we both enjoyed the vibrancy of the art and the easy of reading it. It’s a beautifully done book that would be perfect for younger children. I enjoyed the variety of names that were given to the different grandparents, and how the book showcased the different types of relationships children can have with their grandparents. The diversity was extensive, with the clear (to me as a queer) exclusion of any non-heteronormative couples. If queers had been included as well, this book may have been a 5-star read.

This is a delight. A book celebrating the diversity of grandparents and the ways they interact with their grandkids. It made my heart warm to think of Pat Benatar and her husband and fellow musician writing this book. The illustrations are colorful and the rhyming makes the story flow. I especially like the different names grandparents can be called. My mother’s special name is “Coach”. This can be enjoyed by younger readers and I would love to read it to my students on grand parents day in my school.

Beautiful vibrant book! From the cover and every page, it is a colorful and happy read. I appreciate the message in the book, showing the special relationship between grandparents and grandchildren from different types of families & the variety of names they can be called by, Great read for young ones who also love music as this book got my little reader making beats and singing while reading the book. At the end, it got my little one saying, "My grandparents do rock! And they love me a lot!"

Ohhh this book warmed my heart! I love that there’s a book that focuses on the love that grandparents have for their grandkids. I think our generation of parents if (finally) experiencing a return to more intergenerational involvement in child-rearing, and grandparents are a super important part of so many kids’ lives! MY GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ROCK! is not only about the love between grandparents and grandchildren but also a really sweet, poignant reminder that it’s always okay to be yourself and to embrace the things that make other people, like our grandparents, unique!

Queer families might notice that there’s really no rep of anyone other than cishet couples, as far as I could tell, so that’s one thing that might isolate some readers. There is pretty good representation of non-white families and even some inclusion of other languages’ and cultures’ terms for grandparents. Just some ivervatioms!

I highly recommend this. It would be a sweet gift for a kiddo but also for grandparents!

Who knew these classic rockers were not only Rocking Grandparents, but Passionate Poets as well? My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! is written by musicians Pat Benatar and husband, Neil Giraldo. This well diversed children's novel brings beat and adventure to a whole generation of music fans, Yes, Grandparents are Cool! Grandparents and their grandchildren are pictorially shown to interact in many ways fun, active, and meaningful ways. The book illustrator, Tiffany Everett, fills the pages with a plethora of background and ethnicity. A perfect read for all ages of all cultures.

I love this! My Grandma and Grandpa Rock shows a different type of grandparent than some kids might be used to. Great illustrations and so fun to read. It tells kids about different kinds of music that their parents or grandparents might even be familiar with, and is interactive in that it asks questions of kids about their own grandparents. I think this is great because it shows kids how many facets there are to people. Every single person is different. Parents, kids, friends, and everyone else they’ll meet along the way.

My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! is a wonderfully fun book celebrating the diversity of all grandparents and the love they share with their grandchildren. This funny and sweet story highlights the message of being unique and sharing gifts of the heart - song, dance, artistry, and much more - with others to show love. The narrative is shown through vivid illustrations that add to the festive mood of the story.

This terrific story by famed rockstars Pat Benatar and her husband Neil features a diversity of grandparents and what makes them special. The illustrations are colorful and the rhyming narrative pulls readers through the story like a drumbeat. Geared for kids from 3 to 8 and the adults -- especially grandparents -- who love to read to them.

My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! is a cute picture book about grandparents. Although the title may make you think it's only about musical grandparents, it also talks about the many different things grandparents can do, how different they may look, and the different names you could call them. It is written in rhyme, so even though it's slightly longer than most picture books, it still moves quickly. The illustrations are fun and colorful. This would be a great choice for younger readers.

Different perspective on how kids might view their grandparents especially when comparing them with other kids. Kids like to brag about their grandparents so this book offers ways to give grandparents the “cool” factor. A short read so it’ll be good for younger kids to sit and listen to. Pictures are engaging and colorful, which will catch their attention too.

What a cute little book! This is the perfect book for kids to read with their grandparents. Not all grandparents are the same. I loved all the diversity! The added touch of all the musical aspects was great. My boys love music and making music, so they relate to that. It was beautiful and colorful! I might have my kids gift it to their grandparents for Christmas this year. It would be such a fun book for them to read together.
