My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! is a joyful, energetic celebration of grandparents that will have readers of all ages smiling and tapping their toes. Rock legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo bring their musical flair to this charming picture book, delivering a heartfelt tribute to the many ways grandparents can be cool, caring, and utterly unforgettable.

Told in lyrical, sing-along style, the story honors grandparents of all stripes—whether they’re jamming in a band, teaching yoga, fixing pipes, or just showering their grandkids with love. The vibrant illustrations perfectly match the upbeat tone, making each page a delightful visual treat for children while sparking nostalgia and pride in adult readers.

This book shines in its inclusivity and modern take on what it means to be a grandparent today. It’s not just about baking cookies or telling old stories—these grandparents live boldly, embrace who they are, and inspire the next generation to do the same.

Whether you’re reading it aloud at bedtime or gifting it to a beloved grandparent, My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! hits all the right notes. It’s an exuberant love letter to intergenerational bonds and a reminder that no matter what stage of life you’re in, you can still rock!

I am always hesitant to read books authored by celebrities, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one! While Pat and Neil are definitely the stars of the show in this, the book does a wonderful job of showcasing different types of grandparents, including various occupations and nicknames.

This is the perfect tribute to grandparents, and highlights how important they can be in a child's life.

This is one of the cutest kids books I’ve seen in a while, which is saying something considering I read one to my kids every single night since they were born!

I will definitely be buying this one for my kids to give to their grandparents for Grandparent’s Day!

Thank you to Sourcebooks Kids|Sourcebooks Jabberwocky for the chance to read and review this eARC - my kids and I absolutely loved it!

What a beautiful, delightful, touching, heartwarming, and inspiring book for children and grands! Penned by Rock power couple Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, illustrated by Tiffany Everett, this picture-and-text encourages children to recognize that no matter a grandparent's vocation or appearance or physique or style of creative interests, that grandparent's goal is to love grandchildren! And every grandparent, in their own way, ROCKS!

My teenage years sat squarely in the 80s decade, so when I saw a children’s book written by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo (her guitarist and husband) on NetGalley I couldn’t click it fast enough!

This book is fantastic and the illustrations are so fun! It begins with a little girl talking about her grandparents (Pat and Neil) and how they are always singing! While I initially expected more about these legendary 80s icons, the story quickly shifted into a heartwarming celebration of grandparents in all their forms. I especially loved how it highlighted that grandparents are more than just old people! They’re vibrant individuals with incredible skills! They can be bakers, builders, scientists, coaches, teachers, preachers, pilots, doctors, writers, and so much more. The message is clear… grandparents ROCK in countless ways, but their greatest role is the love they share with their grandkids.

The book beautifully showcases grandparents from diverse backgrounds, professions, and cultures. A standout moment is a two-page spread listing different grandparent names from around the world like Bubbe, Zayde, Abuela, Tito, Pop Pop, Mimi, Gung Gung, Tutu, Lolo, Opa, Halmoni, Gamma, Gampy, and many others.

I absolutely adored this book! It’s a heartfelt tribute to grandparents everywhere, and as one myself, I wholeheartedly embrace its message.

Thank you @netgalley and @sourcebookskids for an eARC, which I’ve read and reviewed voluntarily.

My kids loved the messaging and were actively
engaged in this read! The only caution I would advise other readers is make sure you’re reading this with a pdf or kindle platform on an iPad because otherwise the formatting of the photos gets glitched and cut off. Thank you for allowing my littles and I to enjoy this fun and quick read.

This was the highlight of my reading week!
I would love to have this book for my kids—even though their grandparents live far away, and the only "rock" they share is FaceTiming across a big time difference. I absolutely loved how diverse and joyful this book is, and the illustrations are full of energy and love.
A heartfelt celebration of intergenerational connection!

My first thought when I saw this book was, oh, great another celebrity written picture book. My second thought was, wow, are Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo old enough to be grandparents? They are by the way. Benatar is 72 and Giraldo is 69.

As for my worries that it was just another celebrity book, that is something to worry about, but the rhymes were cute, and the message was as well. Basically that we all do stuff that gives us joy, and connects us to our grandkids. And you don’t have to be Benatar and Giraldo to impress your grandkids.

Bright pictures, cute rhymes, this book would be fun to share with grandkids. The dancing, singing kids and grandparents look as though they are having a blast.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book will be published on the 9th of September 2025.

A little adventure into the rich and varied lives of grandparents.
This is such a heartwarming read! The rhymes flow well and I can see it going well during a story time with the book prompting questions about your own grandparents. It featured diverse and inclusive grandparents from different cultures and it didn't feel forced. It's lovely to see grandparents in such a fun light, which is how children would look up to their own.

Super cute book. The story shows how grandmas and grandpas are all different and awesome in their own ways. As the title states "My Grandma and Grandpa Rock." Great illustrations and lyrical prose, this book is a rockin' good time. I highly recommend.

Delightful, cute, beautifully illustrated and fun! My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! was pure joy! I love that this book depicts a wide range of grandparents from differing walks of life and cultures. This book has diversity and a cool message that grandparents can be fun, have talent and rock! That grandparents can be and do anything but the main thing they do it to love YOU! 🎸🎤🎶📕❤️🥰

This was a beautiful children's picture book with fun rhymes and pictures! This book encourages children to sing loud and proud, and that grandparents are cool! It depicts the bond between children and their grandparents.

It also makes a great book for young readers to read when their grandparents are not reading this book to them!

High points for showing diversity, an individual in a wheelchair and the various ways grandparents and grandchild interact. 🎶❤️🥰

Everything about this book is so special. I love all the descriptions of what grandparents can be. I also enjoyed different names that kids call their grandparents, mine is Mimi. The pictures are wonderful and the text is lyrical. The authors also made sure that they illustrated a diverse population of people, from those with disabilities to others from all ethnic groups and best of all how special that people find love within all cultural groups. They have included everything I love to see in children’s books. Can’t wait to read this one with my students.

Gone are the stereotypes of grandparents sitting in rocking chairs on the porch. We are introduced to grandparents who wear funny clothes, work in diverse professions, and march to their favorite tune.

Like children and their parents, grandparents are unique and valued for the diverse gifts and talents they possess. The book teaches children to value every generation as a treasured resource.

The multicultural illustrations enhance the picture book’s beautiful message.

Recommended for patents and teachers of readers ages three through eight.

This was really cute! I picked this up after reading Pat Benetar's Memoir late last year, which I highly recommend if you enjoy her music or are interested in the inner workings of the music industry.

expected it to be more about Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo, however it is more about how grandparents come in different shapes and sizes and they all rock because they love their grandkids. While Pat and Neil make music and travel for their jobs and actually rock, it doesn't mean that baking with your grandma or fishing with your grandpa or whatever they do with you is any less cool. This had a wonderful message and the art was lovely. It encompassed lots of different cultures and did not focus on the rockstar lifestyle. Grandparents are cool no matter what as long as they provide love and support and i 100% agree with that sentiment!

What a great short children's book! 4.5⭐'s

The book was adorable! Who doesnt't love a book that connects grandparents and granchildren, and then to find out it is written by legends? The illustrations were vibrant and eye catching. I loved the diversity and inclusivity of the characters illustrated on the page. I could totally picture a teacher reading this book to her class when talking about the family unit. I wish the book was a bit longer, but other than that I really enjoyed it.

Loved it! An adorable children's book about grandparents and how they rock by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo with well-timed and rhyming text and bright, fun illustrations. My five year old daughter loved it too. Perfect either as a gift or for any music lover's home library.

When your grandparents ROCK you want to tell the world! Not all grandparents look the same or like the same things or are called the same thing, but they are all awesome! And these grandparents love music.

This was a fun book with great illustrations. We had fun, especially since our Gump plays the piano and teaches all his grandkids how to play!
