This is a great little kids book. Beautiful pictures and a nice sentiment. Grandma & Grandpa's come in all types and are called by all names. I recommend.

I loved this book. I am about to be a grandmother for the first time. I love that this book describes grandparents in fun ways. Grandparents can still go places, do things, have cool styles, and have interesting jobs,. I will definitely be reading this one to my grandbaby.

This book is so much fun! It will be a must-add to every library collection. It showcases grandparents of all kinds and also features diverse characters and diverse names for grandparents. And Pat Benatar is a co-author? Perfection.
I absolutely cannot wait to have the physical copy of this in my hands!

This book was ABSOLUTELY adorable — in theme, story, and illustrations! And knowing one of the co-writers is Pat Benatar? Love this for her SO MUCH.
My biggest takeaway: “Rock and roll is a state of mind!” Because, absolute it is!! Whether your grandparent has a traditional title (like Grandma) or something unique just for them, you will feel your connection reflected within these pages. The illustrations are vibrant and full of life on every page.
What a fun and lovely story that is such a beautiful reminder that what brings us together is love.

I was not expecting this book to make me feel emotional. I went in thinking it would be a funny/ cute book about having rockstar grandparents. Which it was, but.... it was so much more. I was not expecting it to be a book about diversity, doing what you love, and everyone "rocking" in there own way.
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebook Kids for a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was so cute, and I'm going to recommend it to my elementary music teacher friends. There are diverse characters throughout, and I learned several new names for Grandma and Grandpa. Quick, cute, fun read with creative artwork.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy
My Grandma and Grandpa Rock! by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo and illustrated by Tiffany Everett is a picture book focused on the diversity of grandparents. Through lyrical prose, the narrator explores how grandparents are still people and how their most important job is loving their grandchild.
I have loved Pat Benatar ever since I heard We Belong when it was first released years ago. You best believe I immediately picked this up the second I saw it was available. Whether someone is a fan of Pat or Neil Giraldo, I think this is a great gift for any child and a great way to introduce them to two living legends in the music scene.
The art style is colorful and detailed with a very diverse cast. I loved how bold some of the choices were, such as a grandma with pink hair and a grandfather who appears to be on the younger side. Years ago, I met a grandmother who dyed her hair peacock blue as a fun summer project with her grandkids and she liked it so much that she kept doing it. We still have this idea of all grandparents having gray hair and ‘aging gracefully’ and I think we can age gracefully and be grandparents and still put our own stamp on how we present ourselves to the world, so I was happy to see that here.
I cried at the very end of the picture book when it very specifically said that a grandparents most important job is loving their grandchild. I then returned to the book several times over the course of the day and cried every single time I got to the end. I’m getting choked up just thinking about it. I think there is something so powerful about telling a child that they are supposed to be loved by their grandparents no matter what. Children deserve unconditional love and we should teach them that at a young age instead of teaching them to accept something less.
I would recommend this to guardians and educators of young readers who want to discuss the diversity of the world around us in a digestible way and to grandparents looking for a book to read to their grandchildren

This is TOO cute. The illustrations were great for the message coming across and the message is so awesome. Grandmas and grandpas can all be so different and all so awesome. Between different ways of looking, different jobs, different types of rockin' -- I loved it.

I absolutely can not wait to have the real book in my hand!! I have always been a fan of Pat Benatar. (I wrote a paper in college about child abuse and started my paper with the lyrics of Hell is for Children. I got an A.)
But being a grandma, I loved this!!! The words, the pictures. LOVE!!!!

This charming picture book celebrates the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren with a rock-and-roll twist! My Grandpa and Grandma Rock is full of rhythm, love, and personality—just like the grandparents it honors. With vibrant illustrations and a joyful message, the story embraces all kinds of grandparents, in every shape, size, and style. Whether your grandma is a rocker or your grandpa loves a good guitar solo, this book hits the right note. A heartwarming tribute to family and the music that brings us together.

Super excited to see a book written by Pat Benatar! I loved listening to her music in the 80's and it is sweet to see a personal side of her. All grandparents will love reading this book with their grandkids! Will definitely get for our Media Center to share with our students.

Cute and beautifully illustrated this picture book tells the story of how all grandparents are different. Through pictures and stories of grandparents it is explained that some are same sex or different races or quiet or adventurous and they are all still grandparents.
Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for the digital ARC.

This one was really sweet and charming. The colorful illustrations definitely caught my eye, and I loved how it captured the special bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. It’s the kind of story that leaves a warm feeling and would be perfect to share with anyone who appreciates meaningful family moments.

First and foremost, I received an e-arc from NetGalley.
This book is simply adorable. I chose to read it to my children at bedtime and they loved it. Especially, since they do have grandparents who rock. It is a rhyming story that is short and sweet that will appeal to all ages.

I am obsessed with this book and my little guy will be too! My son is Autistic and music brings him so much joy. It is his favorite class at school, and even though he is non-verbal he expresses himself by dancing and shaking his shaker. This book has such a positive message and beautiful artwork. His birthday is in September and I can’t wait to buy this book of him for his birthday! I love the message that we can all be different and wonderful (grandparents too.) I read a lot of children’s books and this is sure to be a favorite for kids young and old.

A sweet picture book for children about their grandparents. They can be rock n roll stars or anything at all. The most important relationship is family.

Blissful, rhyming ode to modern grandparents by a rock music legend. Beautiful, action packed illustrations accompany the bouncing text that reinforces that grandparents can be very different from each other but are united in their love of their grandchildren.

An adorable ode to rocking out and rocking grandparents by the incomparable Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.
Warm and lyrical, the text takes you through their presence as performers and grandparents, and honors the different names, occupations, and love of all different grandparents. Tiffany Everett's illustrations are bright, welcoming, and inclusive, and serve the words wonderfully.
Currently due for release in September, 2025.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Jabberwocky for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is an absolutely adorable book. The artwork is stunning and colorful, the lyrical writing flows beautifully. This book has a wonderful message of love and fun. Both my five year old and I loved it (she loved the colors and I was moved to tears!).
This is a perfect book for a child's shelf.

This book is filled with adorable cartoonish illustrations. It’s a sweet and joyful book about grandparents… perfect for Grandparents Day in September. It talks about the different names grandparents could have (I love that it’s inclusive), the different jobs they might have, and the fact that grandparents are cool in different ways.
However, the rhyming isn’t quite smooth. I always read picture books out loud to see how they will sound to my Pre-K students. I love rhyming books, but didn’t feel that this had a perfect flow to it (and some of the “rhymes” were a stretch). I think it’s fun that it’s written by 2 rock artists, which may cause more grandparents to buy the book for their grandkids, but I’m not 100% sure I would purchase it for my classroom.
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Kids for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own
