I love that more WebToon comics are being printed in graphic novel format.
OF Swamp and Sea is a book I am not sure I would know about if it weren't for NetGalley.
I really like the story in this series so far! I am excited to see what happens to our protagonists next!

Mercy is looking for assistance from anyone after her father is brutally killed. A Monster Hunter named Jonah answers her ad to assist her. They both get more than they bargained for in this deal.
I don’t want to give away anymore! I love the illustrations, how cute, and yet suspenseful it is. I cannot wait until the next installment comes out!

This had me hooked from the very first page! I love that we as readers are dropped straight into the story, and the pacing kept me engaged all throughout the book. I adore Mercy, who I definitely can relate to, and Jonah is a very compelling character whose backstory I can't wait to delve deeper into in the next installment. The artwork is gorgeous! If you like romance, fantasy and adventure, this graphic novel is definitely a must read.

This graphic novel was so interesting. I loved the combination of Gray, the serious monster hunter and Mercy, the upbeat and accidentally monster possessed companion. I loved how many adventures they were able to fit into one volume. There’s such a range of monsters and beasts in this world. The end of the book gripped me even more! What’s that about? I can’t wait to read more!

First off, I cannot wait for the next one. Second off if you're a fan of the Witcher or lore olympus or even both, this is for you. This is giving everything and the story has only just begun.

Lore Olympus meets The Witcher?? Sold.
First I just want to say I love the character and setting design. The story has me very intrigued and that cliffhanger! Give me more.
Mercy enlisted the help of monster hunter Jonah to kill the monster that murdered her father. Of course nothing goes to plan and mercy ends up getting possessed by the beast instead. Now they’re on a journey to fix this mess together.
I’m already seeing sparks fly. The blushing cheeks, the bumbling cute awkwardness. Can’t wait to see how it goes, especially after that ending.
Also is it me or are all the monsters cute? I want to see more monsters in vol 2!

Of Swamp and Sea is beautifully drawn and colored, and a compelling story that left me wanting to read more. Mercy recently lost her only parent to a monster attack. She hires Jonah, a professional monster hunter, to track down the beast and kill it. Instead, she’s attached and the beast sort of inhabits her body instead. So now Jonah has to help her get rid of this beast that occasionally takes over when Mercy gets angry.
Jonah has secrets too, which we only get a hint of at the end of the volume. As their journey starts they have a few adventures which help build up the world they live in.
Lovely start to a fantasy world and character building. I definitely need these two to kiss but am happy to wait for it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I ended up finishing the book in just a few sittings and really enjoyed the story and characters.

Definitely gives off The Witcher vibes. I enjoyed the art panels and the overall story. I thought the monsters were original enough - rain fairies, mist wolves, and Branchers all seem pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing how this one continues.

i LOVED this and immediately need more!!! the FMC kind of reminds me of Katara from Avatar a little bit! i absolutely devoured this story and am absolutely desperate for more. it had me stress and laughing out loud!! so looking forward to reading more of this!!

Of Swamp & Sea by Mia Jay Boulton & Laurel Boulton is a must-read graphic novel in my opinion. The plot and the character development were amazing and I’m so excited to see the continuation of the series. I will probably be running to Webtoon to get my fix until the rest of the series starts to come out! It’s as if The Witcher and Lore Olympus had a baby it would be this graphic novel right here. I found myself utterly consuming this book in one setting and admiring the artwork. Mercy calls on Jonah, the monster hunter, for aid when her father is slain by a mysterious wolf monster. However, when slaying it goes wrong and Mercy ends up with the wolf spirit inside of her, they must trek to someone who can rid her of the beast. Slowly over the adventure Mercy starts to develop feelings that she’s never expressed before, but are they all the beasts doing or is she just ready for an adventure of her own?

Pretty cute. Looking forward to volume two and hoping for a bit more character development, as this didn't give me quite as much as I wanted based on the cover vibes.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this graphic novel series! Jonah is a monster hunter and Mercy has hired him to find a monster. Together they set off on a path that leads them down an interesting path. There's more than meets the eye with both of the main characters and it makes you want to keep reading to see what happens next. The illustrations in this are gorgeous and the darker color scheme does well in setting the tone of the story. I can't wait to read the next one!

The art in this is great and the concept is really interesting but I think I might have expected something different. I think that’s the issue when you use your description to say what things it’s like rather than using the description to tell us why you should be interested in the story itself. And it sucks but I legitimately think that why I was disappointed in this. The story itself was really interesting and I feel like I should have liked it. The art and characters are really interesting and the compassion the monster hunter shows with creatures is a fun concept but not a match with the Witcher comparison and I think that’s what was really bugging me.

What a fascinating beginning to a story! I know this is available on Webtoon, I however haven’t actually read it. Having said that, I was very pleased to get an opportunity to read it in e-graphic novel format! I love how devoted Jonah is to correct his mistake. I adore how Mercy is a romance reader and has gotten Jonah hooked on telling him all about the book she’s reading. The monsters are quite fascinating and I can tell so much thought was put into them and their appearance/behavior. Reading this has made me want to hop over to webtoon and binge the entire series in one sitting. 😍
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank You NetGalley and First Second Books for the ARC!
This was such a good read! The art was beautiful and stunning, and the slow interactions between Jonah and Mercy were so well done. I love the shift of color pallet for each scenario, Cold colors in important and suspenseful scenes, and more warm colors in more thoughtful scenes. I love their backstories and how emotionally connected they are. I cant wait for the next volume!

Of Swamp and Sea was really enjoyable - the art is engaging and at times sinfully adorable, and the story was very engaging. It did end somewhat abruptly though, more like the first 2/3 of a story than complete first volume. That being said I’ll be psyched for volume 2 to continue the adventure with Mercy and Jonah!

This book was DELIGHTFUL! The art was beautiful and ethereal at times. Jonah and Mercy are both delightful characters and I cannot wait to follow their adventures in future editions. I could not put this book down - I love a monster hunter with a soul. Wow. I devoured this book.

4.5 🌟
I had a great time with this one! The plot was thrilling, the pacing was perfection, the article was gorgeous, and the characters were endearing. There was even a potential budding romance which I’m excited to see develop. I can’t wait to see where this story goes!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and 23rd. St. For the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This book felt like happy feet tapping and a warm hug. Imagine a mellowed Witcher becoming friends with a romance graphic novel. A high-adventure hunter hunting dangerous, magical creatures gets mixed up with a country girl—cue romance. This one feels different if you are in a slump or need to cleanse your palate. To me, it has a unique and unusual pairing. The illustrations were detailed and eye-drawlingly colorful, with a balance and elegance that made them compelling to read.
The characters were spot-on, with interesting backstories and cute and realistic reactions; in essence, they were readable and enjoyable. I turned the last page with a sigh: "Ugh, now I have to wait." I’ll be adding this to my watch list.
Take a chance on something fun with this cute full-color fantasy romance graphic novel.
