Thank you to @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for my gifted copy of this audiobook!

I love a good thriller with an obsessive MC, so the premise of this one drew me right in. It definitely gives 𝙔𝙤𝙪 vibes, as well as reminding me a little bit of the FMC from the recent thriller 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙈𝙮 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩.

I was engrossed in this book from the beginning and wasn’t really sure where it was going. The unexpected theme of female friendship was a very pleasant surprise and it ended up being my favorite part of the story.

The FMC, Jane, was just the right amount of unhinged in my opinion. What makes it even funnier is that the man at the center of the story, Colin, is pretty unremarkable overall. If anything, he’s a walking red flag.

There are twists throughout, but I did find most of them to be easily predictable. I like more shock value, if you will, in thrillers, which is why I didn’t rate this one higher. I kept waiting for something to be revealed that really threw me for a loop, but ultimately I guessed the twists.

This is a fast paced thriller that provides an interesting spin on the obsessive girlfriend and is a quick read. There’s an underlying thread of women empowerment throughout, although, of course, this goal ends up becoming a little twisted by the actions of the characters.

🎧The audio was so-so for me. The narrator was a bit over the top in her performance (something I tend to mention a lot in audiobooks as something narrators do that I’m not a fan of), but I don’t think you’d go wrong with the audiobook or physical book for this one.

So Happy Together by Olivia Worley

What a ride! Jane starts off as your classic obsessed ex convinced her brief fling with Colin was meant to be and she’s not taking the breakup well. Cue the “accidental” run-ins, social media stalking, and full-blown spiral.

But then? Plot twist. Jane becomes besties with Colin’s new girlfriend. Yep, it gets that messy. And the deeper she gets into his life, the more dangerous secrets start to unravel. It’s equal parts unhinged and addictive.

The narration was fantastic Jane’s chaotic energy came through perfectly. I had a bunch of theories throughout and was actually right on a few (rare win for me). Sure, it’s a little over-the-top, but honestly? That’s what made it so fun.

If you love twisty plots, questionable choices, and narrators who may or may not be totally losing it this one’s worth the listen.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. From the second I read the description I wanted my paws on this book! The obsession, the betrayal, the whole thing was right up my alley and it didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it. When listening to the audiobook in the car, even my husband was like what the heck is going on here?!? 🤣🤣 I anticipated a twist but that was not the twist I worked up in my head, I didn’t see it coming!

So Happy Together is a wild ride with three unreliable narrators, a whole bunch of crazy and great fun as long as you are into stalking and twists. As a 60 year old happily married mom, that s all my vibe. The crazier the better.

I’ve never read Olivia Worley, but this audiobook makes me want to read more of her work.

Narration was perfect.

This book brilliantly blends the highs and lows of modern dating with a twisted, suspenseful plot that keeps you guessing. Jane is a complex, unforgettable protagonist whose obsession and determination drive the story into unexpected and chilling territory. The sharp writing, vivid New York setting, and layers of secrets make this a thrilling read that’s equal parts psychological suspense and emotional drama.
Fans of dark, twisty thrillers with flawed characters will devour this one. Absolutely recommend!
Thank you Netgalley for the early copy!

This book was packed with awkward and, honestly, pretty crazy moments. The entire time, I found myself yelling, "girl, you need therapy!" Major cringe with the main character, Jane, but I just couldn't put it down. Some parts really made me uncomfortable.

This book went in a totally unexpected direction compared to what I anticipated. I have to say, the twist at the end was fantastic and really helped ease a lot of my earlier annoyance. All in all, this book was decent, and I’d definitely give this author another shot.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Excellent choice for fans of twisty turny thrillers with unreliable narrators. Even when you think you know what's coming, this book will surprise and satisfy

This book tries way too hard to mimic the vibes of You and only partially succeeds in the long run.

The general story is that Jane is quite unhinged and believes that she and Colin, a guy she dated for a few dates before he broke things off, are soulmates and belong together. Jane haunts places near where Colin lives in order to engineer a "chance" meeting so he will be reminded of their "true love." After she creates a meeting at a coffee shop when Colin is there with his new girlfriend Zoe, Jane starts to get invited along to get togethers and actually becomes friends with Zoe. How can Jane make Colin see what he's missing with her?

I feel like the blurb above gives away way too much about where the plot is going. The book is better if you just let it unfold. Yes, Jane is obsessive and delusional, but there's a lot more going on here that the reader will experience as it goes. Things go better with this book if you just suspend your disbelief and go about reading it like the popcorn thriller that it is.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator does a great job at capturing Jane's intense, obsessed personality. I was able to get immersed in the story even if I spent the entire time thinking she needed some serious therapy.

There's a good twist towards the end which redeemed the story for me, although I kind of suspected it all along. Regardless, readers should be pleased by the surprises that keep the plot moving quickly. I just feel like there wasn't much character development, we don't know or understand the motivations of any of the characters. To go back to my You reference, we know why Joe is the way he is and it helps that narrative to make more sense and easier to forgive the repetition.

Overall this is a beach read type thriller. Not particularly memorable but worth it if you're looking for an escapist read.

A suspenseful thriller with a strong twist, but uneven pacing and characters that felt flat—especially Colin. Jane’s obsessive behavior was hard to read, making the story frustrating at times. The NYC setting and audiobook narration were solid, but the self-gaslighting and scattered plot held it back. Worth a try if you like dark, twisty stories.

So Happy Together by Olivia Worley

3.5 out of 5 Stars

Jane, a 24-year-old playwright and hopeless romantic, falls in love with Colin after meeting him through a dating app. She can’t believe how lucky she is to have found the love of her life until he breaks things off after six dates. Jane is convinced that they are meant to be, and she will stop at nothing to get him back. It doesn’t matter that Colin now has a girlfriend, Zoe, who is perfect. Jane befriends Zoe and becomes a permanent fixture in Colin’s life to prove she is the one for him. Even when Jane breaks into Colin’s apartment and uncovers his dark secret, she is determined to prove to him she will love him through everything, for better or for worse, through secrets and lies, and especially in death.

This book was brilliant because I had trouble differentiating between reality and fiction. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Michelle H. Lee and she did such a wonderful job immersing me in the story that I had to remind myself Jane was not a real person that I am friends with. Though, don’t be fooled, this is a thriller that will have you guessing until the very end. Worley’s creates a story that is tense, suspenseful, and compelling. I devoured this and if you’re looking for something unhinged this summer, look no further!

"So Happy Together" is an unputdownable, addictive thriller. Olivia Worley has cemented herself as one of the best YA thriller authors, in my opinion, and I was so excited to read her debut adult novel. The story is told from the point of view of Jane, a playwright in New York City, who has fallen in love with Colin, a software engineer. When Colin breaks things off with Jane, she knows she'll get him back...until she finds out that he is dating Zoe, an up-and-coming Brooklyn artist. What follows is a twisty and gripping story full of secrets, lies, and murder.

As soon as I started reading this book, I was hooked and couldn't put it down, finishing it in less than a day. Once again, the author took me on a wild and exciting ride. There's almost nothing I love more than a delulu main character, and Olivia gave me all that and more. The plot was fun and compelling, and the characters were just crazy enough to make you love them. I was enjoying the book so much that I was surprised when it ended. The ending felt a bit rushed--or maybe I was just sad it was over already.

So excited to have another thriller from one of my new favorite authors. Add this one to your must-read list this summer!

Full transparency: I have not been in a mystery/thriller mood for many months and was really worried about So Happy Together putting me into a reading slump.
Fortunately, I had no reason to be worried! Olivia Worley absolutely hooked me with this wild ride of a novel. The story is so intriguing and keeps the reader entertained throughout.
Our female main character is so interesting. It's easy to think of her as one dimensional - No depth, no substance, fully delusional. But that initial illusion is intentional and it allows for such an intriguing unfurling of her characterization. The reader is gradually provided with insight, which leads to needed context. Worley does such a great job of making this character someone that the reader slowly understands and empathizes with.
The twists and turns in this book? Wow! I really didn't see them coming. They're unique enough to not be guessed, but not so out of the box that they don't make sense for the story. I really appreciate when a mystery/thriller can stick the landing and Worley does a really great job.
I think mystery/thriller novels lend themselves to an enjoyable audiobook listening experience. The at the edge of your seat/needing to keep turning the page feeling works well with the story immersion audiobooks offer. I enjoyed the narrator and felt like the performance did not detract from the story, which is always appreciated.
If you're in the mood for an intriguing mystery/thriller, I definitely recommend So Happy Together!

That dedication though 😜 You just know right away you’re in for some serious unhinged vibes.

Meet Jane, a NYC playwright who’s totally convinced Colin, the guy who dumped her after six dates, is her soulmate. I mean, who among us hasn’t mistaken a situationship for destiny? Jane just takes the delulu to a whole new level.

Then there’s Zoe, Colin’s new girlfriend. So perfect, she’s Jane’s worst nightmare. Beautiful, smart, and charming, the exact kind of person no one wants to compete with. It’s even worse when you actually like her.

Is Jane obsessed? Oh, for sure. A little cracked? Definitely. But is she alone in that? That’s the real question.

Sure, some of it was predictable by design, but honestly, I wasn’t sure who to trust until the very end. It kept me guessing and, more importantly, it kept me hooked.

This book is all about young adults making spectacularly bad decisions. You’ll yell at the characters, shake your head, and then immediately turn the page to see what happens next.

It’s a yes for me! 🖤

Two women. One deeply mediocre man. Endless psychological chaos. If given the chance, would spiral again.

So Happy Together is what happens when obsession turns into alliance, truth curdles into horror, and the ending leaves you blinking at the wall, whispering, “What did I just read… and why did I love it?”

At the center of this deliciously twisted story is a woman unhealthily fixated on her ex. Not uncommon in thrillers—but Olivia Worley doesn’t stop there. Enter: the current girlfriend. But instead of the usual rivalry, we get something far more disturbing—they befriend each other. Yes. They team up. Not because women supporting women is a trend, but because there’s something about this bland, forgettable, possibly walking red flag of a man that neither of them can let go of… and what they eventually learn about him? It’s not just shocking—it’s chilling.

The real genius of this book is how it takes a seemingly ordinary love triangle and transforms it into a psychological minefield. You start out thinking, “This man? Really?” and end up thinking, “Ohhh. OH. Okay. Burn it all down.” By the time the final twist slithers into place, the story isn’t about him anymore. It’s about the women—their rage, their damage, their choices. And it’s deeply, darkly satisfying.

Sure, it’s a little weird that they work together. But in this warped emotional ecosystem? It weirdly works. Because sometimes the only person who understands your descent into madness… is someone else who’s already halfway down the staircase.

If you like your thrillers served with a side of psychological warfare and an aftertaste of “I may never trust anyone again,” So Happy Together is your next read. The ending? Let’s just say it doesn’t ask for permission. It grins and drops the mic.

Review: So Happy Together
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
🎧 Audiobook

Okay so at first I thought I was in for a rom-com… and then it took a sharp left into full-on stalker territory 😳. It gave major YOU vibes with a sprinkle of delusion and chaos. I was invested enough to keep listening, but I’ll be honest—the timeline confused me, and some parts didn’t fully land for me.

That being said, the narration was top-tier. The voice acting brought Jane’s unhinged energy to life. The plot had potential but left me a little underwhelmed by the end. Overall, it was a decent listen, but not my favorite thriller.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #MacmillanAudio for the book #SoHappyTogether by #OliviaWorley. This book is super good with a twist I never saw coming. Jane thinks she has found her soulmate in Colin. Even though they only went out on 6 dates before he broke it off, she is convinced she can get him back. When Jane befriends Zoe, his current and perfect girlfriend, she still thinks her and Colin have a chance. She finds something disturbing in Colin’s bedroom that only spirals out of control. Will she be happy with Colin again?

The back and forth of this unreliable narrator got a bit annoying for the first half of the book. I understood that it was purposeful, but it felt pretty repetitive and didn’t make me empathize more with our main character. I did read this audiobook in 1 day though, which is a very fast paced so I was definitely invested, but the ending left a bad taste in my mouth. It was SO frustrating how manipulative these characters were, and I usually love psychological thrillers, but I think it was a bit too long for what it was trying to accomplish.

Wow.
I absolutely devoured this audio book. I didn’t like a single character but I could not stop listening to their story.
The pace of the audio made it hard to want to pause to do anything else as I struggled to figure out how it was all going to come together:.

The ending was a bit underwhelming for me but I did like how it rounded out all the un answered questions.

This was a wild ride!

Thanks so much for letting me listen!

I really enjoyed this twisty thriller. Jane was really a little crazy mixed with some Nancy Drew and a teaspoon of delusion lol then she goes and pulls in Zoe. I will say, I loved Jane's determination.

Book publishes on June 3rd.

So I finished this in one day. It started as a great story. Girl is burned by boy. Girl is trying to make boy jealous. Girl seems crazy. And then, BAM! You are on this insane roller coaster ride of twists and turns and you can’t stop thinking of all the. Various ways this is going to play out. Without giving away spoilers, I can only say that my brain was playing ping pong. Did she do it? Did he do it? Did the friend? Are friend and him setting her up? It’s just insane. My only reason that I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the final twist could have been left out and I would be happy. This one left me with questions and felt a little bit unnecessary. Overall an awesome thriller. I’m excited to see what the author comes up with next.
