I think most of us have been in the position of the fmc at some point in our lives. That said, I don't want to read a whole book about someone sinking deeper into this delusion. The twists seemed a bit arbitrary just to be twists. The ending was not that satisfying.

Uhhhhh what did I just read?! That was a TRIP. I was SURE I knew where things were going but boy was I wrong. Well narrated as well!

Intensely obsessive and creepy… and yet I couldn’t put it down! Love that I couldn’t predict what would happen next—even on the last page.

(Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.)

This was a wild ride. One I don’t know I wanted to be on.
I feel like this story was all over the place. At first I thought I got it, and then it would switch directions.
Good and bad with thrillers sometimes.
Jane loves Colin. Her boyfriend of 6 short dates. When he breaks up with her she becomes obsessed with getting him back and making him realize he’s the one.
Becoming the best friend of his new girlfriend Zoe shouldn’t be on her list of things to do right? Nope, but it happens. Will they, won’t they? That’s honestly about to be the least of her problems.
Want something kind of different? Read this!
Thanks netgalley for the arc!

This was a warped story that was hard to put down. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the ending threw me for a loop. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Macmillan Audio for the ARC.

What did I just read? I mean that in a good way. Some how I ended up listening to two books back to back that were very similar so it was interesting to compare the strength of the writing.

Olivia Worley is becoming an auto read author for me. Admittedly I do enjoy her YA titles a bit more as she has a way with them and I think this book has some challenges as the FMC has some of the characteristics that work better in the YA verse because you can get away with teen characters doing things that adults can’t. Now this book certainly is NOT YA nor should be but it struggles a bit with some folks getting confused with the character development of the FMC.

However, I really enjoyed this! The FMC Jane is a bit unhinged and the twists and turns that take throughout this thriller leave you a bit unsettled. But is she really? How do Colin and Zoe figure into the madness?
I consumed the audio ALC and I didn’t want to stop to go to sleep as I needed to know what happened. But alas sleep one out and I finished it as soon as I got up in the minding.

As for the production of it. The narrator Michelle H Lee did a good job over all. I enjoyed her “regular” voice for the majority of the book. She spoke at a good pace for the 1x speed. However, I did struggle with her male voice performance. It was irritating. This made me speed it up significantly so I didn’t have to focus on it.

I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary audio ALC from MacMillian Audio through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

This is my first Audio book ever, won’t be my last but as much as I was excited to start here this book should not have been the first- I found it slow and the main character was crazy and delusional- yes that did keep me intrigued but as much as I may recommend for someone else, it just wasn’t my favorite

Although I did enjoy the narrator, it was excellent to listen to, story wise just wasn’t it

This book was just okay. I usually love a stalker thriller, but this one didn’t hit the mark for me. The tone read more YA than adult, and while the setup had promise, it didn’t deliver the depth or tension I was hoping for. Worth the read if you’re looking for something quick and mildly twisty, but nothing about it really stood out.

Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

4 stars rounded up, because I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars... as I enjoyed the ride for the most part, I rounded up. I wasn't sold on the ending and felt like it could have gone a more interesting way, I did appreciate a plot twist away from the standard stalker theme. It felt a bit slow in the beginning, which is another reason why I thought maybe a 3 for a time, but again, it was mostly an entertaining read and I'll be happy to read more from this author!

*I appreciated the narrator! Her voice was a great fit for this novel and she had good pacing.

This was a fun popcorn thriller. Not ground breaking concept, but kept me entertained and the writing was well done. I think thriller fans of authors like Freida McFadden and Janeva Rose will enjoy it.

The narrator did great! I would recommend that route.

This was hard to listen to. The main character is not just unlikable — she is insufferable. But you still don’t want to stop listening. The narrator did a great job and was perfect for the story.

Jane is obsessed with Colin. It’s weird. After meeting online, they dated for a whole two months, and then he ghosted her. Jane was not having it. She weasels her way back in by befriending his new girlfriend.

We get the whole story about how Colin probably murdered his ex, and despite that, Jane still loves him. But at the same time, she’s actually becoming friends with the new girlfriend. By the end, you kinda just hate everyone, honestly.

Overall, it’s entertaining in a frustrating way and keeps you guessing. I just wish we got more character depth and that the twist was a little stronger.

Here's the thing. I love a good popcorn thriller that keeps the pages turning. These have always been my go-to books, but it seems like lately, these types of books have really disappointed me, simply because it seems that the author's sole purpose is to inundate you with one ridiculous twist after another, resulting in whiplash, and in my case, full-on annoyance. I'm happy to report that this wasn't the case here. Did I figure out what was likely happening early on? Yes, but I still had fun reading this one. Sometimes, the fun is in watching the chaos unfold, even when you kind of see it coming.

The story follows Jane, a 24-year-old playwright living in New York City who's desperately trying to find love (almost a little too desperately, honestly). Jane thinks she's hit the jackpot when she meets Colin, a seemingly sweet and nerdy software engineer. They hit it off, and just when she's thinking about potential happily-ever-afters, Colin pulls the plug after just six dates. And this does not sit well with Jane.

When Colin quickly moves on with Zoe—an effortlessly cool Brooklyn artist who's just the kind of person Jane secretly wishes she could be—it's a blow to her confidence. Still, Jane can't shake the feeling that Colin and Zoe are just a temporary blip. She's convinced that Colin belongs with her, and Zoe just doesn't have the depth to stick it out through the tough times. So, naturally, Jane decides to prove it... by keeping an eye on them via some good, old-fashioned stalkerish behavior. She works her way into their relationship by starting to date Colin's roommate and befriending Zoe. But when she sneaks into Colin's apartment, she stumbles upon a shocking secret that may have her rethinking everything she thought she knew about Colin.

Jane is a complete mess. Like, the kind of mess where you just want to sit her down and say, "Girl, therapy exists for a reason and someone could make a killing off of you." But that's what makes her such a fun (and cringey) character to follow. She's unhinged in a way that's both relatable and unsettling. You understand her loneliness and her obsession, even if you're shaking your head the whole time.

One of the things that I liked about this one was that it doesn't feel like it's trying too hard. Worley gives us just enough twists to keep us hooked without going overboard. There's a big reveal—because, of course, there is—but it's not one of those over-the-top, out-of-left-field surprises that leave you rolling your eyes. It's more of a natural progression of the story, and it makes sense within the world Worley has created.

If I had one complaint, it would be that the book reads a bit more like a YA thriller than an adult one. The way Jane's obsession and insecurities play out feels a bit young, even if the character is in her mid-twenties. It's not necessarily a bad thing—just something to keep in mind if you're expecting a more mature tone. Also, if you're the type of reader who needs a wholly unpredictable plot, this might not be your jam. Personally, I found the slightly predictable nature kind of comforting. Sometimes you just want a fast-paced, slightly unhinged ride, and this book delivers exactly that.

I alternated between reading and listening to this one, and I have to give kudos to Michelle H. Lee (the narrator) for doing an amazing job with the audiobook. She captures all of the characters perfectly.

This is the kind of book you pick up when you want something engaging, twisty (but not overly so), and just a little bit bonkers. It's fun, messy, and a great way to spend a few hours wrapped up in someone else's poor life choices. If you're a fan of popcorn thrillers that don't take themselves too seriously, give this one a shot. You might just find yourself happily devouring every chaotic chapter.

This has my absolute favorite kind of FMC. A little, ahem, obsessive, a little unhinged, a little second hand embarrassing. The glorious trifecta. There was one point where I debated hiding under a blanket and listening at 3x speed to get through what I was certain would be an extremely embarrassing social situation. (Note: it didn't end up being *that* bad.) I kind of guessed some of the twists, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment and I was still very interested in seeing how everything played out. I also really liked how murky everyone's intentions were and the uncertainty of what was the truth. I just loved this.

And I wasn't previously familiar with Michelle H. Lee's work, but I thought she did a great job and I'm glad to have another narrator to look for in my ever growing list.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC. This was so good!

ARC and ALC review
Publication date: 03 Jun 25

"So Happy Together" by Olivia Worley is a mystery thriller about an obsessive ex-girlfriend.

Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for the ARC and Macmillan Audio for the ALC (via Netgalley).
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

Jane and Colin dated a short while, but she did not get over him.
When she sees his with his new girlfriend Zoe, she befriends her to get close to Colin.

The start of the book was a bit slow, but the action got more interesting after a while.
There are a few twists that I did not see coming and the ending was also unexpected.
The story is told from Jane's perspective and she is an unreliable narrator, which made the story more intriguing.
Also, Zoe is a interesting character. You can never know if she is lying or telling the truth.

The audiobook is narrated by Michelle H. Lee and she managed to make Jane seem even more obsessed and unhinged.
I enjoyed listening to the story and I will check out other books narrated by her.

Overall this was a quick, interesting read that was hard to put down.

Just finished So Happy Together by Olivia Worley and… whew, what a ride! This one was messy in the best way—twisty, intense, and full of drama. I loved the whole unhinged-ex energy, and the tension between the characters kept things interesting. The audiobook was solid too—great pacing and a narrator who really brought the characters to life.

That said, a few parts had me raising an eyebrow (some choices were a bit much), and I wished we got a little more depth from certain characters. But overall, it was a fun, fast listen that held my attention. If you’re into chaotic thrillers with a dark vibe, you’ll want this on your radar.

This book was so entertaining and addicting! The characters kept me hooked and the increasingly worrying story had me anxious for more!

Jane is the kind of chaotic, delusional main character I live for—equal parts hilarious and terrifying. So Happy Together is a sharp, satirical take on obsessive love, ambition, and the lies we tell ourselves (and everyone else). Think You meets a very unhinged rom-com. No jaw-dropping twists here, just a slow unraveling of one woman’s perfectly spiraling breakdown—and I was so here for it. Olivia Worley serves up sass, drama, and just the right amount of darkness.

Thank you Olivia Worley, St. Martin's Press, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

SO HAPPY I listened to SO HAPPY TOGETHER.

Three protagonists:
* Two females obsessed with the same guy.
* One narcissistic male who could be guilty of murder.

Who is the unreliable narrator?????

(I adore books with multiple unreliable narrators!)

I listened to the audiobook, expertly narrated by Michelle H. Lee.

From start to finish, it was impossible to press pause/stop while listening to this twisty and riveting tale.

WHY NOT 5 STARS?
The last chapters were not as strong as the earlier chapters.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars.

I absolutely loved this book. First things first, Jane is absolutely nuts. She's convinced the man she went on 6 dates with and then dumped her is in love with her. Being inside her head throughout the story was very insightful and the whole time you had to wonder if she’s an unreliable narrator or not. She was just a fun and dynamic character to follow that I really didn’t care about how boring and flat Colin (the MMC) was. I was super interested in finding out what was truly going on that I flew through this story. Also, the narration was perfect. Michelle Lee did so good at portraying the chaos that was our lead, Jane. If you want a fun, leaves you guessing, chaotic read for the summer, this is it.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio, Olivia Worley, and NetGalley for allowing me to listen and review!

It was just six dates—but Jane knows they’re meant to be. Too bad Colin’s moved on. And too bad Jane’s not letting go.

📚 Reasons to Read So Happy Together
A rom-com thriller – It starts with swipes and flirty banter, but quickly spirals into obsession, lies, and murder.

Unreliable narrator – Jane’s voice is charming, delusional, and utterly untrustworthy… in the best way.

Twisted love triangle – It’s not just about heartbreak—it’s about secrets that could destroy all three lives.

Obsession and identity – It captures dating in the digital age, toxic comparisons, and how easy it is to lose yourself trying to win someone else.

This book kind of morphs from something I kind of expected to something I didn’t expect, and then some. You don’t necessarily like that Jane is stalking her ex but you also don’t understand why he so abruptly breaks it off and lies to everyone in the process. You spend a lot of time weeding through the stories and explanations and suspecting everyone. But it was such a fast paced enjoyable ride. I really couldn’t put it down.
