This is a high quality audiobook production with a full soundtrack narrated by Melinda Sewak. This uses background noises and even voices like children cheering, to enhance the story. The background soundtrack really enhances the story and helps to keep children interested.

This is a sweet story about welcoming and including the members of the community especially when they are in need of a friend. This is very short and ideal for younger children, toddler age, as a fun introduction to audiobooks during bedtime or story time reading. I also think this could be beneficial for early or new readers to read along with the audio. The concepts and sentences are very early reader friendly.

Thank you to Rachel Tawil Kenyon, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.

This was a Beautiful Book I was given an Audio Copy of. The Narrator does a good job reading this book. It is about being kind and allowing a Child to Be a Part of the Group no Matter How They Are. This is the way to Make Kids feel accepted and put a Stop to Bullying. Often, this is where kids Can be ostracized and made to feel alone.

I think having the actual book and seeing the Illustrations would be all the better, but adding in the Audio for Kids to listen to would be nice as well. Definitely Recommend getting a copy of You Can Sit with Me. Excellent for Kids and Adults, as well.

Thank You Macmillan Audio for Giving me an Audio Copy of this Book. I appreciate this so much. I always leave Reviews of all Books and Audios I Read.

You Can Sit with Me (Hardcover)
by Rachel Tawil Kenyon
Audio book is a life affirming book, about inclusion. It does not mater what is different with you, you can sit with me. If its the color of you shirt, you can sit with me. Its a good social emotional book showing that even if there is difference we can all work together.

5/5! My son (3.5) and I loved this one! The narrator kept it engaging with a friendly voice, and the author gave some great examples. The book led to a discussion after we listened, about friendship, and being kind to everyone. Would highly recommend

This is a great audiobook that encourages kids to be inclusive and kind to one another. The repetition of the message “you can sit with me” reinforces the idea that no matter the situation, there’s always a friend to turn to. Similarly, the book encourages children to be the person that a friend can turn to in a time of need. The message is clear and repeated throughout the book for clarity.

The audiobook is a wonderful format to enjoy this story in. The narrator is clear and emotive—keeping a hopeful tone throughout. The addition of background noise when applicable in the book helps it feel more atmospheric. Also, the situations presented in the story are realistic moments of feeling “singled out” at school, so it makes the book more applicable to children.

Overall, this is a great addition to any library or classroom. It is especially helpful in reinforcing the idea of being a friend to all in any situation.

Thank you NetGalley for an audio ARC.
This is such a great book for young kids to teach them or remind them about how to be a decent human being. I would use this in both a home and classroom setting. It would be great as a "first day of school" reminder of how we can be kind to others and make everyone feel welcome and accepted. I absolutely love the messaging in this book and the audio narration was fantastic. Highly recommend.

I loved the relatability. Showing a walk through of all the ways students can feel out of place but then the simple answer of having someone to sit with was great. It illustrates a simple way students can be inclusive to others.

I let my daughter listen to this book and here is her feedback

I think this is a very nice story of how people should treat each other. You should always be kind to others especially when you see them having a hard time. The only thing I didn’t like much was the constant repeating of “you can sit with me”. I think maybe saying it after four lines versus two would be better. I really liked the narrator and how she had emotion in her voice. This was a fun book and I think my classmates would like it.

I love tis empathy-building book! I think kids dealing with bullying will find comfort in this book, and I think kids learning how to treat others with empathy will also benefit from this book. Great read!

You Can Sit with Me by Rachel Tawil Kenyon is a heart-touching and beautifully poetic audiobook that offers an essential message wrapped in simplicity and warmth. With clear and concise narration, it gently unfolds a story about love, inclusion, and the power of a small, kind gesture.

Children naturally tend to be open and accepting, and this audiobook serves as a thoughtful tool to nurture that instinct. It reinforces the importance of making space—both emotionally and physically—for others, especially those who might feel left out or overwhelmed.
The central message is as profound as it is simple: saying “you can sit with me” can be a lifeline for a child looking for connection or comfort. It’s a reminder that inclusion doesn’t have to be complicated—it starts with a moment of empathy.
This poetic and powerful story is perfect for both home and classroom settings. It opens the door to conversations about diversity, empathy, and belonging, making it not just a book but a bridge toward more profound understanding.

A gentle, radiant reminder that kindness matters—You Can Sit with Me is a must-listen for children and grown-ups alike

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan audiobooks for this audiobook.

This is a quick and sweet audiobook of a children's picture book. This would definitely be improved by following along with the pictures while listening, as I think otherwise you may lose a child's attention. The narrator has a great balance of excitement and calmness that fits well for this book. The repetition of the phrase "you can sit with me" makes for a great opportunity to have a child or classroom speak aloud each time.

Thanks for Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the Advanced Listening Copy

The concept of this book is great especially if you have a child that is getting bullied or finding it hard to fit in. My 6-year-old really enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit repetitive at times and I was really surprised that my daughter liked it as much as she did. She said "I liked that it talked about being left out."

10 Stars! “You Can Sit with Me” is a heartwarming children’s book that promotes kindness and inclusion. Through its simple yet profound message, the story illustrates the power of offering a welcoming gesture—like inviting someone to sit with you—to help children feel accepted in new or overwhelming situations, such as a reading circle, craft table, or picnic. The book tackles common anxieties like being new, wearing the wrong outfit, or feeling different, emphasizing that everyone is included.
The endearing characters and easy-to-follow writing make it an engaging and delightful experience. I pre-ordered this book for my preschool class and will also get it for my teenage daughter and her friends. Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

*You Can Sit With Me* is a heartwarming and uplifting children’s audiobook that delivers a beautiful message of inclusivity and belonging. Rachel Tawil Kenyon’s story reassures young listeners that no matter who they are or what quirks they may have, there will always be a place for them. Overall, the audiobook was charming and heartwarming. I found it to be a delightful story that promotes inclusivity in a fun and engaging way. I selected "no" for adding it to the curriculum primarily because audiobooks can be challenging for younger children without accompanying visuals. However, the printed version would make a wonderful addition to any early childhood classroom library.

You Can Sit With Me, written by Rachel Tawil Kenyon and narrated by Melinda Sewak is a children’s book written about kindness and friendship. The book is told from the point of a child, and who is telling other children that when they may be upset, frustrated, or feel left out, they can sit with them. I think that this is a wonderful book which will show children that it is okay to reach out to others, and it is also important to be kind to each other. I am excited to share this with my preschool friends!

A wonderful book about inclusion, finding your voice, and being a leader who welcomes people into their circle. This story, told in rhyme, with the repeated phrase "You can sit with me", was a lovely story that would be perfect for a minilesson in a classroom, or for a therapist or school social worker to read aloud to a class.

This book sets the tone for expected norms in a club or classroom. I love the message, and hope to view the physical book to enjoy the pictures as well. I recommend this for schools and libraries.

The illustrations for You Can Sit with Me are just so incredibly adorable, there was absolutely no chance that I’d pass up giving this story a try. Rachel Tamil Kenyon does an excellent job of building musicality in her story, everything rather well as the narrator moves through the story. This book is also reasonably something that you could give to an emerging reader as a lot of the book is written with CVC words, therefore the tougher words are ones parents or buddy readers could support them with as they try to read the majority, themselves.

As for the content of this book, it’s wonderful. Told from the perspective of an incredibly caring young student who invites others to sit together, offering up the simple and yet immeasurably impactful opportunity for comfort and friendship. There is so much meaning behind being open for connection and friendship to others who may be having a tough time connecting to others, for whatever reason. I think this book also does wonders in teaching young readers to be purposefully kind in their day to day.

For the audiobook, I do feel that it absolutely must be paired with the book, since it might be difficult for readers to visualize who is talking to who with just the narration. All of that said, the narration is absolutely lovely and fun all the way through.
