I am absolutely sat for this and every book following. The characters are everything. The tropes are troping and the paranormal aspect is phenomenal. Give me more plz.

First I would like to let readers know that this book isn't really a "romance novel", though there are some spicy parts, the romantic relationships are a sub-plot. Would I have read it if I had known that? Maybe. Did I finish reading this and immediately pre-order the sequel? Yes. This is a story with a lot of heart, many quirky characters, some handsome men, comedic mishaps, and a 100-year-old murder to solve. The murder mystery may have been wrapped up by the end, but Melody Bittersweet's life is just getting started. I will admit to being the tiniest bit disappointed she didn't hook up with the super-hot ghost in some way. I can't wait for the sequel to arrive so I can dive back in to her world.

Crazy Spooky Love is a quirky, cozy paranormal romp with heart, humor, and just the right amount of heat. Melody Bittersweet (yes, really) sees dead people—something she’s finally embracing in the wake of a quarter-life crisis by launching her own ghost-busting business. Her first big case brings her face-to-face with both her smug, ghost-blind ex-boyfriend and Fletcher Gunn. The result? Chaos, competition, and some undeniable chemistry.
This book is a delightful mashup of ghostly mysteries and slow-burn romance, with shades of Shakespeare and Hathaway—a little silly, a little heartfelt, and full of clever banter. The mystery, centered around a murder from 1910, offers a fun backdrop for Melody’s reluctant collaboration (and eventual flirtation) with Fletcher, who goes from scoffing skeptic to passionate love interest in a satisfyingly spicy arc. Their movie date and car scene? 🔥
That said, I did find myself wishing for more scenes between Melody and Fletcher—they’re the beating heart of the book, and their chemistry carries the story. The supposed love triangle element with Melody’s ex felt a bit underdeveloped, though the ending hints that it may become more of a factor in the sequel (which I’ll definitely be picking up!).
If you’re in the mood for ghostly giggles, witty romance, and a heroine finding her spooky stride, Crazy Spooky Love is a great place to start. Bring on book two!

Loved, obsessed, already need more. The ghosts, the flirting, the friendship, the family. I loved all the dynamics between characters and all the food. Definitely plot and character driven. Immediately wanting the sequel

This book was a blast! I cannot wait to read the other books in this series. If you took the gang from Scooby Doo, the mother and grandmother from Bewitched and added in a little Adam's family flair you would get the vibes of this book.
Melody Bittersweet is a 27 year old woman who comes from a long line of Bittersweet women who can see and talk to ghosts. Melody opens a business to help people get rid of unwanted ghost with her best friend and Artie, the son of a ghost who asked her to give his son a job. Her ex boyfriend Leo Dark is trying to help rid an old house in town of its ghosts so that the owner can sell it and Melody knows that she can help. She gets herself and her friends involved in ridding the Scarborough house of ghosts and finds that there is a murder mystery to be solved. At the same time, the reporter Fletcher Gunn is at every turn trying to find a story while disputing Melody's ability to see and speak with ghosts.
This story has a mystery, romance and comedy! This will be such a fun fall read. I loved Melody's voice in this book, she is relatable and so funny. All around the cast of characters could not be better. 4.5⭐️ I highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley, Ballantine and Dell for this ARC! I cannot wait to read the books to follow in this series!

I just could not get into this book. I tried I really really really tried. It was funny in parts but I could not finish the book it just did not make sense in some parts and had me questioning myself as to why the heck I was still reading it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
This book was cute. The title is a little misleading. That's all I will say. Still, I enjoyed reading it.

Crazy Spooky Love was a delightfully quirky blend of rom-com and supernatural sleuthing that charmed me from the very first page. Melody Bittersweet made for a refreshingly offbeat heroine—plucky, slightly chaotic, and deeply empathetic toward both the living and the dead. Her voice was witty, self-aware, and full of heart, anchoring a story that balanced romantic tension, ghostly mystery, and laugh-out-loud moments.
The love triangle between Melody, her fame-hungry ex Leo, and the maddeningly skeptical reporter Fletcher Gunn brought just the right amount of romantic chaos. Fletcher, in particular, was a standout—brooding, infuriating, and yet impossible not to root for. Their banter sparkled, and their chemistry built up beautifully over the course of the story.
The ghost-hunting plot, featuring the hilariously dysfunctional Scarborough brothers haunting a grand estate, was full of humor and intrigue. The mystery kept things moving, and the author did a great job weaving together the paranormal elements with the emotional lives of both her ghostly and human characters.
At times, the plot felt slightly overstuffed, and the story occasionally leaned a little too hard into the zany. But overall, it was fun, fresh, and full of warmth. If you like your romances with a supernatural twist and your heroines just a little bit haunted (in all the best ways), Crazy Spooky Love was well worth the read—and a great start to a series I’ll definitely follow.

Melody Bittersweet has just turned 27 and as far as she’s concerned, this is *the year* her life is supposed to change. So she takes matters into her own hands, splitting off from the family business to start her own Ghost related business. Because that’s the thing… All 3 generations of the Bittersweets can see ghosts.
Recruiting the help of her best friend, Marina, and Artie, a boy who’s father’s ghost visited requesting Melody give him a job, they set off to hunt ghosts at the Scarborough mansion… where they get more than they bargain for. With a ghostly murder mystery and a supposed love triangle with a reporter and a fellow medium, the Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency have their hands full.
This was a fun read for me. Going in blind I might have loved it but as it stands I think it was alright. I really liked the murder mystery story line and learning about the history of the mansions ghosts. I found Melody to be a little bit “cringe” a lot of times but I tried to chalk that up to her personality just being different from mine. I loved the levity that Artie brought to certain situations and found him to be my favorite character in all of this…
As for the “romance”… there really wasn’t any. There was lust, longing, and sex but there wasn’t any romance. Which would be fine if LOVE wasn’t part of the title. I honestly think if this was *just* focused on the grown up Scooby Doo of it all, I could have liked it a lot more.
Last note, I feel if you’re to reference pop culture it should at least be a reference that makes sense.
(Ex: Confidently calling Velma of Scooby Doo “Thelma”)
That being said, this was still enjoyable. I will still read the next installment in the series.
Thank you to Ballantine and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ugh. I really wanted to like this one. The premise was so appealing. But it did not live up to my expectations.
The pros: the friendship between Melody, Marina, and Artie was cute. Their banter was good and I enjoyed reading about them working together. Gran is a hilarious character and I love her.
The cons: There were so many plot holes and people doing things that make no sense. It just kept taking me out of the story every time I noticed one. Also, both “love interests” sucked. I did not understand Melody’s attraction to either of those lackluster men. Lastly, Melody was a terrible dog owner and that bugged me so much.
I would be open to reading the next book in the series if it focused more on the Girls Ghostbusting Agency and less on terrible love interests (and if Melody learned how to properly pet parent).
I received an ARC of this ebook from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review!

I thought that the author did a really good job blending romcom and spooky vibes. It’s clearly well written to be fair. This is not my preferred genre, but I definitely would recommend this to people that are looking for a fall themed romcom that’s fun and has some paranormal elements.

Love a spooky themed book, this one is perfect! I love the characters and the story. Thank you so much for the early copy.

Fun start to a series! I’ll for sure be on the lookout for more from this author. And great book cover!

This was a witty and entertaining book perfect for spooky season but I'm disappointed in the characters. They seem flat with hardly any development.

While I liked this story, and think it was a fun start to a series, I didn’t really care for any of the characters which made this a pretty middle of the road read for me. Artie, Isaac, and Douglas were fine. I didn’t like Melody at all, Fletch was more miss than hit, Marina was okay, and Leo was… there. And I just have a hard time loving a book if I don’t love the characters.
The ghost aspect of this story was cool. I assume the series will be basically just Melody and her team working on each job they’re hired for, like one per book, and I think that could be cool. I’m not in a rush to continue on with the series when book 2 comes out but I am intrigued enough to probably do so one day.
I really did like seeing Artie’s personality continue to come out more throughout the book. I feel like a love triangle is kinda hinted at in the description but didn’t really feel like it was there, and tbh I hope that’s not pursued going forward. Overall, this was fine. Cute and easy read.
Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book! I voluntarily read this book, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I read this as an ARC (thank you Netgalley, I swear I'm unbiased), so maybe the final published version will be different. But this book needs to come with a warning. Not for ghosts, murder, or even snakes (yeah, only mentioned cause one character has one at home, but that is enough for me!). No, for food. OMG, every chapter has more amazing Italian baked goods. If I had a good Italian bakery right here, I would have gained 20 lbs reading this book! It even has me wanting to try cannoli again and I've always hated them.
Also, there's a dog named Lestat. I've always wanted to name a grey cat Lestat so don't appreciate anyone saying its not the best name!
But, back to the book. This is the first in a series but she manages to ease us into the story, not overwhelming with the details. The case is complicated, she might have picked a less complicated story, it was a lot. But it has so much heart and it made me cry in the end.
I'm ready for #2

This witty, whimsical romp through the charming town of Chapelwick had me hooked from page one. Melody Bittersweet is a delight—brave, quirky, and determined to make her own mark in a family of eccentric ghost whisperers. The mystery of the mischievous Scarborough brothers is both clever and touching, layered with humor and heart. The tension between Melody, her ex Leo, and the maddeningly attractive Fletcher Gunn adds a fun romantic spark. With laugh-out-loud moments, ghostly shenanigans, and a heroine you’ll adore, this book is a perfect blend of cozy mystery and paranormal romance. I’m already craving the next!

josie silver, i am so sorry it has taken me this long to read one of your books!! the writing in this was so witty and i actually found myself laughing at so many parts of the story (something which is a rare occasion for me). i was definitely more invested in the storyline of melody’s ghost busting business rather than her love triangle with leo and fletch, but i still really enjoyed this!
thank you netgalley and ballantine books for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Just finished Crazy Spooky Love by Josie Silver and it was the perfect mix of charm, chills, and cozy romance! Think ghostly encounters meets heartwarming love story—with a dash of humor and autumn vibes. It’s quirky, a little eerie, and totally swoon-worthy.
If you’re in the mood for something fun with a spooky twist, this one’s a treat.
