I absolutely enjoyed Crazy Spooky Love. The haunted‑house premise with Melody and her quirky approach to ghost‑busting pulled me right in. The mystery involving the three ghostly brothers stayed intriguing, and the mix of supernatural fun and romance made for a captivating read.

The romance worked better for me than I expected. Melody’s dynamic with both her ex and the skeptic reporter felt rich and layered. Their chemistry really landed and gave the story a good emotional core. I was invested in Melody’s journey from start to finish.

This book felt fresh and entertaining. It struck the perfect tone between spooky and romantic and left me curious about where the story will go next in this series.

Listen, I'm all in for a Josie Silver book. Ten toes down! This one was no exception. It made me giggle, kept me interested and had me cheering for the main characters. This Scooby Doo-like trio works together to solve a mystery - and a mystery where only Melody can talk to those impacted. Great read to kick off spooky szn! Thanks Ballantine | Dell and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a cute and fun, ghostbusting mystery with a a hint of romance and a love-ish triangle. This is a great pick up for the fall season as it is lighthearted and spooky. The Bittersweet Family business deals in ghosts, and Melody breaks off to run her own business in ghosting hunting. Her first assignment consists of helping a family of ghosts cross over, after they’ve been unable to leave their family home. Melody has to balance her business needs, an ex boyfriend, and a handsome reporter to prove herself.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 - Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine for this ARC. Overall this is a fun, cozy, mystery with a side of supernatural. It took me a little bit to finish because I did find the majority slow going. I really enjoyed the characters and their unique personalities. I wasn’t fully committed to the romance aspect unfortunately.

Crazy Spooky Love sounds like the main keywords I look for in a book and this one is all three! I adored the fact that the reader gets to dive into the dynamics of familial, platonic, and romantic relationships in this story. Melody and her family, friends, and love interest(s…but we all know she was meant to end up with whom she ended up!) felt real in a world of paranormal hijinks. I love ghosts, so this book hooked me immediately. This was a Summerween read for me, but it will be perfect for fall vibes when it is officially published. When I started to write this review, I saw the next book is available for request on NetGalley as well; I immediately requested it and hope I get to read that one early, too! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Thanks for the review copy. I have been enjoying books by Silver in the past. I hate to report this one is my least favorite, I am sure others will love it more than me. It’s quirky.

Thanks to Netgalley and Ballantine for this ARC!

This was a lot of fun. I really liked the ghosts in this one and the way that Melody could see them. I liked Marina and Artie. I liked the mystery part of it. The romance part wasn't for me and the humor takes some getting used to (but of you like Stephanie Plum you will like it). I enjoyed this one.

This was a fun and fast read that is perfect for the start of spooky season and a great first book in a new series. I love the friendship dynamic between Melody, Marina and Archie and they are so the Scooby gang since they have the mystery machine and are ghost busters. I like that the romance was secondary to the mystery of their first case of moving on these 3 brothers who inhabit this house that is trying to be sold by the owner to no avail. I really enjoyed the enemies to lover’s vibe with Melody and Fletcher and the chemistry between them was great. Also Melody's mom and Grandma were a hoot and her smarmy ex was hilarious as well. So I can’t wait to read the next installment.
Thanks to Dell and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This book had me laughing the entire time. It's cute it's funny and if you love quirky characters this is it. It gives ghost busters meets ghost whispers. There's a lot of humor and banter and it's just an overall great time.

📣 Melody Bittersweet can see dead people. Now she’s going to help solve cases involving them 🕵🏻‍♀️.

Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.

Melody comes from a matriarchal line of ghost-seers. That doesn’t mean she’s always on board with what they do, though 🙅🏻‍♀️.

At the beginning of the book she decides to start her own PI company; she’ll help solve cases involving ghosts with the help of her sassy bestie.

This is such a fun, quick read. Would you believe that it even has a love triangle (square?) of sorts & I was okay with it? Mostly because it’s not too serious. No angst in sight.

The historical mystery Melody is solving had my interest. Crazy Spooky Love gave me the easy, breezy lighthearted + ghosties & murder vibes I wanted.

A really fun spooky read. A rom com through and through but with added mystery! It’s very well written and the characters are fun

This was by far more spooky than romance in my opinion, but it a light, whimsical way. The story follows Melody, a ghost hunter, who finds herself on an assignment to help ghosts cross over and vacate a family home, soon realizing she has taken on solving a murder as well. It was a great way to sprinkle in the Halloween spirit this summer.

Thanks to NetGalley, Josie Silver, and Ballantine | Dell for sharing this ARC!

4.5/5
Really liked this book, This is definitely a cozy paranormal romance or mystery with some spice. The characters are fun, all of the Bittersweet family is a hoot and I could read about Melody and her misadventures all day. I enjoyed the banter between Melody and all the characters. Fletcher is someone I hope we get to see a lot more of in book 2, him and Melody are so fun together. This is a series I would read again and again.

Thank you netgalley for the E-ARC of Crazy Spooky Love by Josie Silvers.
I found this story very quirky. I loved the town and Melody. But wasn't rooting for either love interest really, they both felt forced.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this adorable ARC! I love meeting the Bittersweet family and watching Melody find her way by starting a girls’ ghostbusting business using her ability to see and talk to ghosts. It was lighthearted, funny, and had a TON of excellent secondary characters including two love interests who could not be more different, but also equally perfect for her. This is an excellent first novel to what is already looking like a fun series!

Crazy Spooky Love follows the quirky and engaging adventures of Melody Bittersweet, a third-generation psychic medium determined to step out of her family’s shadow. In a bold move toward independence, Melody launches her own ghost-hunting business—Girls Ghostbusting Agency—with her best friend, Marina. Just as they're preparing to open, Melody is visited by the ghost of Art, who asks her to give his shy, socially awkward son, affectionately known as Little Art, a job. Melody agrees, and their eccentric team is complete.

On the day of their launch, Melody sees her ex-boyfriend—and fellow medium—Leo Dark on television. He’s investigating a haunted estate owned by the Scarborough family for his ghost-hunting reality show. Donovan Scarborough, the current owner, wants to sell the property, but persistent paranormal activity has scared off potential buyers. Melody decides this should be her agency’s first case, setting the stage for a collision with Leo and his crew.

The Scarborough house is haunted by three spirits—Douglas, Isaac, and Lloyd Scarborough. Douglas and Isaac were twins, and after Douglas’s murder at age 21, Isaac was blamed and subsequently ostracized by the family. In order to help the ghosts move on, the mystery of Douglas’s death must be solved. Alongside the unfolding ghost story, Melody has to deal with Leo’s bruised ego and the skeptical journalist Fletcher Gunn, a longtime critic of the Bittersweet family. Despite their clashing personalities, there’s undeniable chemistry between Melody and Fletcher, which slowly evolves throughout the book.

The novel blends elements of mystery, paranormal intrigue, humor, and a touch of romance. The witty banter between Melody and Marina adds a lighthearted charm that feels authentic and relatable—I found myself thinking of my own best friend while reading their scenes. Artie (Little Art) is a particularly endearing character; his awkwardness and sincerity make him an instant favorite.

While Crazy Spooky Love is marketed as a romance, I would describe it more accurately as a cozy paranormal mystery with romantic undertones. The pacing is brisk, the characters are delightfully eccentric, and the plot offers enough twists to keep readers hooked.

A big thank you to NetGalley, Ballantine, and Josie Silver for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’ve already requested to review the sequel—I can’t wait to see what Melody and her ghostbusting crew get up to next!

I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t click for me. The concept had a fun, quirky vibe, but the execution fell flat. I found myself not connecting with the story or characters, and the pacing felt uneven.

There’s nothing wrong with the writing per se—Josie Silver clearly has a distinctive style—but I think I’ve come to realize it’s just not for me. Sometimes that happens with authors, and that’s okay.

If you’ve enjoyed her previous books, this one might still work for you. But if you’re new to her writing and looking for something with more depth or spark, this might not be the best place to start.

3 stars - I do like author Silvers rom-coms usually, so I thought I would try her new paranormal series "Crazy Spooky Love". Sadly, it was not really my cup of tea, as it were. The ghost-busting heroine, Melody, is fine, the town is quirky and there's even a bit of cozy mystery vibe. However, I just didn't connect with either of the men in the love triangle and the elements of the paranormal just didn't work either & felt forced. Oh well, will still be down for Silver's next big rom-com, as I generally really like her stuff and I do appreciate that she tried something different. My thanks to Net Galley & the publisher for my advance reader's copy - appreciate the opportunity to read/review it.

I’m going to be totally honest I’ve never read a Josie Silver book until this. And sadly I don’t know if I’ll be reading another one. Which is such a bummer to say because I was really looking forward to this. When I first read Crazy Spooky Loves synopsis it immediately reminded me of Lucy Score’s “Riley Thorne series”. Like I’m not a mystery girly by any means but if you throw in romcom elements with a wacky group of side characters I’m sold. Now I got the wacky group of side characters but the rest of it is a solid: NOPE from me.

So I’m going to keep it short and sweet-

The pros: Like I mentioned I’m a sucker for a wacky group of side characters. Let me tell you the friendship dynamic between Melody, Marina and Archie top tier. Like Archie alone is by far one of my favorite adorkable side characters I’ve ever read. But I digress. The friendship between this trio was fabulous and their banter while working together was the only thing that made this book bearable. Plus I also gotta give it to Gran. She’s a hoot and I loved her and wish we got more of her character.

The cons: First off this book was so slow. Like a snail could move faster than this storyline. Now don’t get me wrong I understand the author is trying to pace the mystery elements and give us bread crumbs to work our way up to solving this. But by the end I didn’t even care who did it and I just wanted it to be over. On top of the pacing being a nightmare. The biggest glaring issue for me was our love interests. Like dumpster fire bad. Both men are arrogant narcissists. Neither of these men were worth Melody’s time.

Overall, I honestly can’t recommend this. Which honestly sucks because I was really looking forward to it. And now I’m stuck in a hard place because I already have the next book in the series and I’m struggling with do I continue. So I guess you’ll have to wait and see if I go through this journey with Melody’s team again.

Lastly big thank you to NetGalley & Dell Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book.

This was a fun , feel good rom-com. The characters are quite standard, but every guy is supposedly very hot in the book, including the ghosts!
