Kudos to Josie Silver for trying something new! I knew from the description that this probably wouldn’t be for me, but given that she has written a few of my favorite books (A Winter in New York! The Two Lives of Lydia Bird!), I wanted to give it a shot. But my initial thought was right- this paranormal mystery/rom com just didn’t hit the notes I wanted it to.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw the cover for this new novel by Josie Silver, I was so excited to start it and I was not disappointed! This was a compelling, fun, and quirky read that I couldn't put down. I loved the British slang, dry humor, and mysterious story. Melody's family and friends are fully fleshed out characters that make the story so much more. I enjoyed the pacing of the novel, the descriptions of each location, and the romance. Crazy Spooky Love was unexpected and totally lovely.
I can't wait to read the next installment!

Crazy Spooky Love by Josie Silver is a delightful blend of paranormal mystery, rom-com humor, and heartwarming found-family vibes. Melody Bittersweet can see ghosts, a trait that runs in her eccentric family. Her friend Marina is helping her launch The Girls' Ghostbusting Agency, alongside their misfit new hire, Artie, who just so happens to be recommended by his ghostly father. Melody's loving but pushy mom and endearingly quirky grandma are involved a little more than she'd like. Throw in a dog and a retro van named Babs, and you've got a lively crew!
When Melody hears about a haunted house on TV, she decides this should be her first case, only to work against her ex-boyfriend, Leo, who shares her ability. She finds three ghostly brothers who refuse to leave their estate, and learns one of them was murdered. Melody needs to figure out what's going on, so these ghosts can finally rest in peace. Meanwhile, she also is dealing with her frustrating ex and new flame, Fletcher, a skeptical but intrigued reporter.
This book reminded me of the Riley Thorn series by Lucy Score, fun, light-hearted and filled with memorable characters, witty banter and just enough mystery to keep things interesting. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it still delivers emotional moments and romantic tension.

This was a cute read and I absolutely loved it in theory …. but I found it quite boring and uninteresting in the end. I was hoping for way more of an interesting mystery plot - come on, ghost busters! - but that was very lacking. Too many times I found myself glazing over with mundane day to day things that I couldn’t care less about. I also really disliked the love interests, I didn’t root for any of them and didn’t find it romantic at all.
This was my first book from this author and I have been loving my cozy romantic reads lately, wish this one kept with the streak but I’ll try the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy in exchange for a review!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for Crazy Spooky Love by Josie Silver. I absolutely ADORED this one. I grinned through most of it. The characters are dynamic, the jokes are so funny. I spent the last fifty pages thinking, “this better become a series.” The writing reminded me a lot of Lucy Score and her Riley Thorne series (another favorite of mine). Put this one on your absolutely must read for 2025. Can’t wait for the next one!

Too YA for me.
The “mystery” plot is thin compared to the heavy romance element. The lead seems really average, but has not one or two but three “gorgeous/hunky/successful” love interests. I hate that plot line.
If you remove the sex scene, I’d suggest this for 13-15 year olds.
2.5/5

Crazy Spooky Love was not my favorite book Josie Silver’s it started out very slow and took me awhile to get into but it was a cute read and gets you in the mood for spooky season.
I enjoyed Melody and Marina’s banter/ friendship and bringing Little Artie into the mix… you get a Scooby Squad. I enjoyed their group and Artie’s awkwardness which made me chuckle.
I really loved the idea of this book it just sadly wasn’t for me.

This book was charming and delightfully quirky, with an engaging cast of characters that added plenty of personality. While the humor occasionally felt a bit forced and the story started off at a slower pace, it really found its stride around the halfway mark—and I enjoyed the direction it took from there. I think I might have connected with it even more through an audiobook, which could have helped maintain a better rhythm during the slower sections.
Overall, this is a fun, lighthearted read—perfect for fans of cozy mysteries with a touch of romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantin for the advanced copy!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and author for an advanced copy of this book,Crazy Spooky Love by Josie Silver.
This was a fun read. Laugh out loud funny, quirky and sweet. I liked the main character, her best friend and their sidekick. The plot held my interest through out. I did feel the last 10% of the book was rushed. Also I was really annoyed that there was no resolution with the love interest. Why introduce a love interest at all then? There should have a least been an epilogue.
3.5⭐️

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future

Melody Bittersweet is Sherlock Holmes for the dead! I enjoyed this read, it was a quick fun who dunnit story, where Melody must solve a ghosts murder.
The characters are all easy to love, well with the exception of our antagonist. I loved the ghost element and how Melody’s friends accept her “gift” and roll with it!
It was a little silly in the plot at some points but it felt like it was meant to have that element much like an Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes. I look forward to more in the series and am excited to see the success of Melody’s and CO’s business!

Melody Bittersweet comes from a long line of women who can see and speak to the dead. But unlike her family, who pass along messages from the beyond, Melody wants to help ghosts move on—by solving their unfinished business. A well-rounded family business, don't you think? She opens her own ghostbusting agency. Her first case? A haunted manor plagued by three bickering ghost brothers who scare off every potential buyer. But these aren’t just any ghosts—they’re harboring secrets, including a long-unsolved murder.
As Melody juggles ghostly mysteries, a love triangle, and her own emotional baggage, she must decide whether to protect her heart—or risk it all for love and truth.
Thank you for the spooky good time, NetGalley and Ballantine/Dell!

This was thoroughly enjoyable! A true romantic comedy, with a touch of the supernatural. The storyline of a young woman who sees ghosts and starts a business with shades of Scooby Doo is perfection. There is a satisfying amount of romance, too. I am excited that this is the first book of a new series.
I received an arc from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book was so cute! I really needed a little palette cleanser on the lighter side and this really hit the spot. It was like a comical, more mature version of scooby doo. The cast of characters are zany and loveable and I laughed my ass off throughout. Also, the romance was a fun and slightly spicy surprise. Fletch can def get it. Jumping right in to book 2!

This gave me kinda of a Scooby-Doo type of vibes in romcom format and I loved it. Melody Bittersweet is a medium and she is now 27. All the women in her life have big events or are established by 27. Now she is starting her own business because she isn’t in a relationship or having kids. Her first job is to clear out a mansion that only to find out that the ghosts there won’t move on until a murder is solved.
In the end we have a love triangle murder mystery solving romcom that was funny and I just genuinely enjoyed my time with. Melody Bittersweet is a character that is more on the sassier side. Doesn’t take anything from any of the guys, be it the ex or the reporter, Fletch, I also like that she has a big heart and took in Artie. I really am looking forward to the next book. I luckily have it already and am going to start it because I really just really enjoyed the mystery solving and romcom put together without the suspense of it behind a thriller.
Thank you to Dell for the complementary copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4 stars – Spooky, sweet, and full of sass! 👻💘
Crazy Spooky Love is a fun paranormal rom-com with a ghost-busting heroine, a haunted house full of troublemaking spirits, and a love triangle that’s more chaotic than cozy. Melody Bittersweet is equal parts charm and chaos, and her first case as a ghost-hunter kept me laughing, swooning, and guessing.
The mystery was engaging, the banter was top-tier, and the spooky vibes were just the right amount of cute and creepy. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book in this series!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Dell/Random House for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to the publisher and thank you to NetGalley for the chance to review this e-ARC. Full review will be available soon

Cozy and quirky with a dash of romance. The love story was simple, but the humor kept me hooked. A slow-paced but feel-good read perfect for a chill weekend

I rated Crazy Spooky Love 3.5 stars and rounded up to 4.
Melody Bittersweet is a 27 year old woman that can see ghosts like her mother and grandmother. She decides that she needs to do something with her life and starts her own business helping ghosts cross over, with the help of her best friend and the son of a recent ghost. Her first case is to rid a house of three brothers before her ex-boyfriend, Leo Dark, (who can also see ghosts and has his own show) does it first.
Crazy Spooky Love was a cute story. I don't understand Melody's taste in men, but that is neither here nor there. I liked her ride or die best friend, Marina, and Melody's assistant, Artie. The mystery part of the story kept you on your toes. It had great pacing to keep you reading. I would definitely read the second book once it comes out.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Josie Silver is an author that always delivers for me and Crazy, Spooky, Love delivered in every way. The romance and mystery in this book were balanced perfectly but adding in a scooby doo element will make this a top tier fall read.
Melody, and her family, have always been able to see ghosts. She decided to start her own PI company, with her best friend, that focuses on solving crimes involving ghosts. She takes on a case that involves helping a ghost crossover to the other side but realizes she got more than she bargained for because this case involves a murder. This book is packed with humor, paranormal mystery, and a little romance. Melody and her best friend Marina's banter had me constantly laughing. Little Artie's awkwardness was just endearing. I was hooked the entire time.
Just got this arc and I'm so excited to read it. I just love Josie Silver's writing.
A big thanks to Netgalley and Ballantine for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
