I devoured this book.
Meadow is struggling to get by. She’s juggling a house keeping job while also trying to maintain a good gpa as a full time student. She needs affordable housing and is desperate for a roommate. She meets Lauren. The popular rich figure that seems to have every thing. The perfect roommate!
This book took me straight back to my college days. Meadow is an introvert with a mother that is hard to get along with. She deeply wants to fit in with all the other college kids that have rich parents and don’t have to work for anything. Her character was easy to identify with.
This book was a whirlwind. It had me going in circles double guessing everyone. If you like a fast paced thriller with a lot of twists you will love this.
I need to go out and buy all Minka Kent’s books!

The Perfect Roommate by Minka Kent is a gripping and twisty mystery/thriller that explores the complex relationship between two roommates. This is a revised edition, The Perfect Roommate was originally published in 2018.
Meadow has been living out of her car after being evicted from her apartment. When she sees an ad looking for a roommate, she replies and sets up a meeting to see the house. Lauren just needs a roommate for the rest of the semester so Meadow can't believe her good luck. Meadow and Lauren soon become close friends, sharing clothes, makeup and secrets. But when Meadow learns something shocking about Lauren, she realizes that nothing is as perfect as it seems from the outside.
A quick and easy read but with plenty of tension to keep you hooked, The Perfect Roommate was fast paced and enjoyable. Minka Kent's writing style is fluid and concise making this one of those stories that you just fly through. Another good thriller by Minka Kent that I would recommend to readers that like their thrillers full of drama, obsession, and tension!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Minka Kent, and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC!! Publication date is June 10th 2025.

This was a solid mystery that doesn’t take long to read. The unreliable narrator makes for a great story, and the twists were pretty unpredictable. I think we can all relate to the main character in some way and the things that she deals with in this book. The people around her are unpredictable as well, which leads to a good feeling of unease throughout. I would recommend to friends and fellow readers! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this one.

I enjoyed this one, but it took me a couple chapters to realize I didn't catch on here that it was a re-release of a book of hers I'd already listened to on the original date. Unfortunately I listed to this too long ago to be able to pinpoint the editorial revisions that NetGalley notes are there so I'm not able to determine if they are drastic. As with all her books, it's a quick read and a good story, definitely worth adding to your TBR just triple check you haven't already read it as it has been out for a while.

This wasn’t a dnf for me, if only because it was such a quick read.
From the beginning I found the main character unlikable. She gave off nothing but “I’m not like other girls” vibes and I just couldn’t connect. The premise was great but really couldn’t have been done in a more efficient way. Most of the story consisted of Meadow reminding us how shallow and vapid everyone else was while not really giving us a reason to like her.
I felt like I was on a roller coaster, moving from Meadow being all about Lauren to absolutely hating everything about her in an instant. The slight attempt at redemption for Lauren in the end felt lazy and the very final scene felt unnecessary, assuming we weren’t being set up for a sequel.
This isn’t my first Minka Kent book but is certainly not my favorite so far.

I could not quit reading this book! This is what I would call a new-adult psychological thriller and boy did it deliver. I was so caught up in the drama that is Meadow’s life that I zoomed through to the end , which ended in an unexpected twist. Bravo to Kent for her character and plot development getting me completely ensnared into her web. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy of this re-release; without it, I likely would not have picked it up!

No spoilers. Had potential to be a great thriller . I felt a lot of the plot was missing. I wanted more backstory and character development

Meadow is looking for a cheap, immediate place to rent and Lauren is desperate for a chill roommate. At first they make fast friends and Meadow thinks she is in luck with Lauren starts exposing her to the good life. But as secrets start to get exposed, both girls wonder what the other is hiding.
Minka Kent is my go-to palette cleanser thriller author. Her books are so fast paced I can read them in one sitting, and this one was no exception. The twist ending was a complete surprise to me, and that does not happen often!
Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I give this book 3.5 stars It was good interesting ending that left you thinking. Will definitely pick up more of her books

What a fun summer read! This was the perfect mix of creepy, thrilling and entertaining. Highly recommend that you add this to your summer reading plans.

Minka Kent once again delivers the exact kind of book I have come to expect for her. A can't put down read with consistant twists and turns. The Perfect Roommate has you uncomfortable for the start and guessing until the very end.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This one was twisty turny and definitely a page turner.
Unfortunately I didn’t like a single character but maybe that was the point?
Meadow sucked. Lauren and Tessa were totally that girl (the one you hate) and don’t get me started on Thayer.
The twist had me gasping and the epilogue … like what?

Quick, easy to read story, with just enough twists to keep it interesting. College aged main character trying to make it through her finally few months of school gets entangled with the wrong people.

Read this in less than a day and could not put it down. This story had me invested right from the beginning. About 75 percent in I was able to predict some things but it did not make it less enjoyable.

This was a quick, twisty, binge-worthy read! I thought I had it figured out, but there were some great twists that I didn’t see coming, while others felt a little more predictable. I think the main thing that stood out from this book is that if it’s seems too perfect, it probably is! Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Minka Kent’s The Perfect Roommate draws you into Meadow’s story where subtle tensions begin to surface between her and her new roommate, Lauren. There’s an underlying sense of unease that steadily builds as their friendship develops, keeping you questioning which woman harbors the darker side. This slow-burn suspense is one of the novel’s key strengths.
While I found the overall plot solid—if somewhat predictable in places—the author skillfully delivers enough twists to keep the reader invested, and the ending, though partially anticipated, still held satisfying surprises.
With its brisk pacing and accessible writing style, The Perfect Roommate is perfect for a weekend binge-read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of the domestic thriller genre. Thank you Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for this arc.

Meadow has just been evicted and is desperate to find a new place to live. She feels like she lucked out when she finds an ad posted for a roommate and finds herself with not only the perfect place to live, but also a new friend. I liked both Meadow and Lauren (as characters in this book) and found their dynamic captivating. This was a quick read with a lot of fun twists! It will make you never want to ever be roommates with someone.

Broke and socially isolated Meadow thinks that she has finally found the best friend of her dreams when she moves into glamorous Lauren's apartment. Meadow is quickly taken under Lauren's wing, with makeovers, nights out on the town, and introductions to friends. But when Meadow discovers that Lauren is having an affair with her college professor, the friendship takes a dark turn. The Perfect Roommate was quick and juicy. A good popcorn thriller when you don't want to invest in something 400 pages long. Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest feedback.

3.5 stars!
Meadow shares intimate details about her roommate’s daily life, including her routines and habits. However, Meadow hints at knowing something even more significant—something crucial that the roommate has done.
This book certainly had its moments of suspense, but I found it to be a bit of a slow burn—definitely not my cup of tea. The writing was sharp and engaging, yet it leaned more towards the young adult genre, which can be a bit of a deal-breaker for me unless it’s exceptionally clever.
Our protagonist, Meadow, is your quintessential student who has to juggle studying and working just to get by. It’s a relatable struggle that many of us faced during our school years. However, Meadow’s journey isn’t exactly smooth sailing; she’s easily swayed by some questionable ideas and friends who are, let’s say, less than ideal. At times, she comes off as a bit naive and seems to lack a strong sense of self. As the drama unfolds, it’s hard to believe she doesn’t realize that her circle and environment are not exactly conducive to someone with ambitions and future plans.
If you’re a fan of girl drama, betrayal, obsession, and gossip, this book might just be your jam. I’ve enjoyed other works by this author, but this one didn’t quite resonate with me. I found myself losing interest a few times, which is never a good sign. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
Thank you, Thomas & Mercer, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so good! It was incredibly addicting and grabbed me right from the start. The authors writing and style worked so well for me. I will definitely be checking out more books from the author. The twists and turns were done so well. I find that in a lot of thrillers that I can guess the ending, but not this one!
