Minka Kent once again delivers the exact kind of book I have come to expect for her. A can't put down read with consistant twists and turns. The Perfect Roommate has you uncomfortable for the start and guessing until the very end.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This one was twisty turny and definitely a page turner.
Unfortunately I didn’t like a single character but maybe that was the point?
Meadow sucked. Lauren and Tessa were totally that girl (the one you hate) and don’t get me started on Thayer.
The twist had me gasping and the epilogue … like what?

Quick, easy to read story, with just enough twists to keep it interesting. College aged main character trying to make it through her finally few months of school gets entangled with the wrong people.

Read this in less than a day and could not put it down. This story had me invested right from the beginning. About 75 percent in I was able to predict some things but it did not make it less enjoyable.

This was a quick, twisty, binge-worthy read! I thought I had it figured out, but there were some great twists that I didn’t see coming, while others felt a little more predictable. I think the main thing that stood out from this book is that if it’s seems too perfect, it probably is! Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Minka Kent’s The Perfect Roommate draws you into Meadow’s story where subtle tensions begin to surface between her and her new roommate, Lauren. There’s an underlying sense of unease that steadily builds as their friendship develops, keeping you questioning which woman harbors the darker side. This slow-burn suspense is one of the novel’s key strengths.

While I found the overall plot solid—if somewhat predictable in places—the author skillfully delivers enough twists to keep the reader invested, and the ending, though partially anticipated, still held satisfying surprises.

With its brisk pacing and accessible writing style, The Perfect Roommate is perfect for a weekend binge-read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of the domestic thriller genre. Thank you Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for this arc.

Meadow has just been evicted and is desperate to find a new place to live. She feels like she lucked out when she finds an ad posted for a roommate and finds herself with not only the perfect place to live, but also a new friend. I liked both Meadow and Lauren (as characters in this book) and found their dynamic captivating. This was a quick read with a lot of fun twists! It will make you never want to ever be roommates with someone.

Broke and socially isolated Meadow thinks that she has finally found the best friend of her dreams when she moves into glamorous Lauren's apartment. Meadow is quickly taken under Lauren's wing, with makeovers, nights out on the town, and introductions to friends. But when Meadow discovers that Lauren is having an affair with her college professor, the friendship takes a dark turn. The Perfect Roommate was quick and juicy. A good popcorn thriller when you don't want to invest in something 400 pages long. Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest feedback.

3.5 stars!

Meadow shares intimate details about her roommate’s daily life, including her routines and habits. However, Meadow hints at knowing something even more significant—something crucial that the roommate has done.

This book certainly had its moments of suspense, but I found it to be a bit of a slow burn—definitely not my cup of tea. The writing was sharp and engaging, yet it leaned more towards the young adult genre, which can be a bit of a deal-breaker for me unless it’s exceptionally clever.

Our protagonist, Meadow, is your quintessential student who has to juggle studying and working just to get by. It’s a relatable struggle that many of us faced during our school years. However, Meadow’s journey isn’t exactly smooth sailing; she’s easily swayed by some questionable ideas and friends who are, let’s say, less than ideal. At times, she comes off as a bit naive and seems to lack a strong sense of self. As the drama unfolds, it’s hard to believe she doesn’t realize that her circle and environment are not exactly conducive to someone with ambitions and future plans.

If you’re a fan of girl drama, betrayal, obsession, and gossip, this book might just be your jam. I’ve enjoyed other works by this author, but this one didn’t quite resonate with me. I found myself losing interest a few times, which is never a good sign. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

Thank you, Thomas & Mercer, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so good! It was incredibly addicting and grabbed me right from the start. The authors writing and style worked so well for me. I will definitely be checking out more books from the author. The twists and turns were done so well. I find that in a lot of thrillers that I can guess the ending, but not this one!

3.25 🌟

Minka Kent has become a go-to thriller author for me. You can tell this is one her early books, but I still enjoyed it for a fun, bingeable read. It was hard to tell what exactly was going to happen with Meadow and Lauren. I had some of it figured out but some of the twists at the end were still a surprise.

Recommended for fans of fast-paced, twisty thrillers.

College student Meadow needs a new roommate. She is struggling to make ends meet, but gets lucky when she finds a place with Lauren. Lauren is a privileged young woman and soon takes Meadow under her wing. Lauren introduces her to her friend group, gives her clothes and helps her with a makeover. Meadow is feeling great, but soon finds out that Lauren is having an affair with a college professor. Not just any college professor – – the husband of her friend. Murder, deception and double crossing follow.

This was my first Minka Kent book. It was pretty predictable, but a really easy read. Her writing style is kind of similar to Freida McFadden’s books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer For a copy of this book.

Great twisty mystery that’s good from beginning to end! Meadow simply needs an affordable place to live while she finishes college. When she sees an ad for a cheap room in a nice house, she’s over the moon. Lauren takes her under her wing and for the first time Meadow feels accepted by a group of friends. But then there’s a murder and things get hairy!

The Perfect Roommate offers a compelling exploration of friendship, identity, and the lengths individuals will go to protect their secrets. While some readers found elements of the plot predictable, the novel's engaging narrative and character dynamics make it a worthwhile read for fans of psychological suspense. I did really enjoy this book, and was quite shocked by the ending - which is hard to do!

Very good fast paced thriller. Easy to read and great story. I do wish the characters had been developed a little more but the ending was definitely good and I didn’t expect it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy of this novel!

This book is fabulous if you are looking for a fast-paced, popcorn style thriller. I was hooked from the first chapter, and found myself not about to put it down. The story is told from one POV with short chapters to keep you moving. Despite this, I didn’t have any issues with the character development or depictions. I went into this one pretty blind but based on the first couple of chapters, I had some assumptions as to how the plot was going to play out but I was flat out wrong. I have really enjoyed other books that I have read by this author and this one is no exception. I would definitely recommend giving this one a read!

After requesting, I realized I had read this a few years back. Minka’s books are always easy reads with a few twists. This one was ok. It wasn’t my favorite by her but this is just my opinion and I would encourage new readers of her work to give it a try.
