Starting with a couple of seemingly unconnected backstories this novel develops into an absorbing read as the connections are gradually revealed. This is exceptionally well plotted with well defined and sympathetic characters. It is always a pleasure to discover a new author like this one. Highly recommended.

this book pulled me in from the start. i was so shocked and emotional over the event that happened to this family. we learn about this family and its a heart punching read but addictive all the same. you will want to, you will have to read to find out what happens to this family both in the past and the now. and they are both very much linked. i wanted to find out more about Lily and more about Alice and her family and just went on in this family.
the scenery and the plot were so beautifully woven together. i couldnt put this one down. its a deep and moving book which i loved sitting down and entering as much time as i could to.

I love books set in Cornwall, however, this book did not thrill me. Two different storylines going on, one, a woman inherits her mother's home and returns there to prepare it to sell; the other has a man seeking the murderer of his daughter who was killed in a motorcycle accident. I kept getting confused about the plots. I love the scenery descriptions, but the going back and forth between the characters confused me. Not one of my favorite books.
