I was unfortunately not able to read and review this title, and that is completely my fault. I didn’t download it on time. Leaving this review to help with my NetGalley score. But I have it on hold through Libby so I will come back and leave a proper review once I finish it.

Ahh! I LOVED this! The perfect mix of funny, steamy, and deeply romantic. Rafe is basically my dream man, and I loved the chemistry between him and Trishara as they went from enemies to lovers! So, so good! The audiobook narration was fantastic, and I loved both Trishara and Rafe’s characters! I also appreciated the honest look at how women (especially women of color) are treated in the engineering field. So good!

This was my first intro to Nisha’s writing and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Loved the way she built up the tension and relationship between the two main characters.

It's cliche, it's unbelievably over the top, and yah, it's been done before. BUT, it's a fun, quick summer read and there are some good feminist themes.
Thank you to Hachette Audio for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I listened to Not Safe For Work, and it kept me entertained enough to finish it. It was an easy read but definitely very cheesy. The voice actors were absolutely amazing and I would recommend listening. I am not a big fan of the miscommunication trope and that was huge in this book for those who are fans.

I’m pretty sure I’d read Nisha’s grocery list at this point. I loved this book and the audio?? SO FUCKING GOOD. The narrator’s did an amazing job

My first ever novel from Nisha J. Tuli and a successful one at that!
This workplace enemies-to-lovers romance is set at a tropical resort for a few weeks during a company retreat. It has the ‘only 1 room 1 bed trope’ and the MMC is to die for.
This novel also heavily features aspects of inequality in many ways but especially within corporate America in regards to her gender and race, and I thought it was handled extremely well and was informative without being lecture-y and taking us out of the romance.
The spice level of this book is moderate, as it takes a while to get even a kiss (sigh) (the wait was worth it) but when it hits it is HOT!
Overall, this was a great first experience with the author and her others novels are going on my TBR!
4 stars

Absolutely loved this! The back and forth between Trishara and Rafe was top tier.
I love the rivals to lovers and how this was written, the sloooow burn was scorching by the end of it.
Tris is an amazing FMC, smart, capable, and not afraid to call out the BS when she sees it
Rafe, we love a good forearm, and as a character he was sweet and thoughtful. Once you got through some of his stand-off ish issues.

This was such a fun and spicy listen! I really enjoyed Not Safe for Work—it’s got the perfect mix of sass, steam, and a bit of emotional depth too. The main character is super relatable—funny, ambitious, and doesn’t take crap from anyone—and the tension between her and her new boss? Chef’s kiss. Total enemies-to-lovers vibes, but in a really fresh, modern way.

The audiobook narration was great. Both narrators did a really good job bringing the characters to life. I loved getting both POVs—it made it easier to understand where each of them was coming from and added a lot to the romance.

It’s definitely heavy on the spice, so if you like your romance steamy, you’ll love this. But it’s also got some sweet and real moments that I wasn’t expecting, which made it even better. I’ll definitely be checking out more by Nisha J. Tuli after this!

First off, thank you to Hachette Audio and Soneela Nankani for access to the audiobook!
Nisha Tuli does what she does best, a fiesty heroine, a demanding workplace and a devastating nemesis. This book is a perfect beach read or enjoyed with some latte or chai and something fried for sure! Bringing in the enemies x lovers trope to life in the best way possible. Soneela does a fabulous job of living the story through her words - she brings in a breath of the angst that our lead faces! Definitely recommend to listen, on a long walk by the beach or a gentle hike up a hill.

Thank you Netgalley for the audiobook!

“There’s nothing unmissable about you.
That’s all I meant.
That there isn’t anywhere you could go where everyone wouldn’t notice you” 🫶🏻

Not Safe For Work
Work was easier when he was still her nemesis.

Review:
SO good!
Tris was such a strong FMC & I loved the real world workplace struggles & how she handled them. She’s the definition of a strong ass b*tch💪🏻
The banter between her & Rafe was frustrating, but in the best way! [give me alllllll the tension building] & wheww the slow burn was definitely slow burning but when it finally burned it was top tier! 🔥🥵
If you love..

Not Safe For Work highlights the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated workplace. Trishara Malik is an engineer, the only woman engineer in her company’s Chicago location. She’s denied promotions while seeing less qualified men get ahead and also subjected to obnoxious treatment by some of the men in the office. Add to this that she’s a woman of color and it’s pretty unbearable to read about (but rather realistic, I think).

This is a romance, so we need to understand Trishara’s distrust of men. She had been burned by a previous work-related relationship (in another company) and has sworn off all work-related relationships. When she and Rafe Gallagher are chosen to go on a three-week company retreat to Hawaii for potential future leaders, the fun begins.

She and Rafe have felt like rivals, but she acknowledges that he’s gorgeous and very appealing. She thinks he hates her, though. (He doesn’t!!) She plans to avoid Rafe completely in Hawaii but her plans fall apart when they are told they are sharing a suite! They are often paired together in team-building exercises and other required activities and they gradually get to know each other. I just wish there was a lot less miscommunication as part of the story.

Rafe was a great character, with a lot of depth. He hates being in engineering, pressured into it by his father, one of the owners of the company (so in addition to all the white male privilege we see throughout the book, we also get nepotism). I loved the book but I would have loved it even more if we had gotten some chapters from his POV. I listened to the audiobook and Soneela Nankani did a great job with the narration.

I was so happy that Tris found a trustworthy man to love and that Rafe found the courage to step away from engineering and work at something he truly loved.

Warning: quite a lot of intimate scenes and “dirty” texting.

Thank you to Hachette Audio, Forever and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to a review copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Workplace Romance is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. Throw in some enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity vibes, and I'm sold! (and as slow burns go, this one really worked for me too) I feel this novel will be very empowering to most as our POC FMC, who works in STEM, gets to realize her worth and value and stand up for herself in a very white male-driven workforce. (She absolutely SLAYS them in a very satisfying email that we have all probably had saved in our drafts at one point or another!)

Rafe as a male love interest was the only aspect keeping this from a 5 star for me. There was nothing inherently wrong with him, (he was hot, very protective of Tris, had a very sweet cinnamon roll aspect to him, pun intended, IYKYK) I wasn't a fan of the part of the plot with his ex and I just didn't feel that connected to him. I think I just wish we got his POV.

I still 100% recommend this book! The banter was great and the last 15% or so of the book was soooo good!! A very satisfying ending. I had a 10 out of 10 experience listening to this on audio. Narrator Soneela Nankani's work on this book was phenomenal. She kept me immersed and engaged in the story.

Thanks to @Netgalley and @HachetteAudio for granting me access to this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Super cute enemies to lovers that takes place on a company funded work convention. This was the perfect summer read! This was my first novel by Nisha Tuli and it definitely won't be my last. I love diverse characters and seeing them represented in strong and positive ways. Trishara is a succesfull, though not properly recognized, engineer and I love the realization that she knows her worth and demands more from her bosses and careers. Rafe, too, has a undercurrent to his character than there is more than the stereotypical good-looking male who also happens to be working at his father's company. The longing and tension throughout the book is great and so is the flirtatious banter between the two characters.

Kind of a slow burn, but once it got going? WOAHHH.
As someone who works in HR, I did have to suspend disbelief a bit, but it was worth it.

Also - this book contains THE BEST resignation letter in the history of time.

Highly recommend if you love:
- vacation romance
-one bed
-forced proximity
-rivals to lovers

The only thing that could have made it better is if the story was dual POV.

Tropes/themes:
- [ ] Women in STEM
- [ ] Workplace romance
- [ ] Vacation romance
- [ ] BIPOC rep (main character)
- [ ] LGBTQIA rep (supporting characters)

This is my first time with Nisha J Tuli’s work. I know she is well known for her romantasy series, but I believe this is her first foray into contemporary romance.

In all honesty, I did not love this book. The main character was pissing me off from the beginning and it became a struggle not to DNF. I feel the story could have been better told with duel POV, and that it suffered being solely from Trishara’s POV.

I listened to the audiobook and I thought the narrator did an excellent job. Everything was well dictated, if slightly monotone.

The FMC appeared to be annoying rather than relatable. I can see that a lot of work was put in to flesh out the workplace issues: dude bro grossness (fair and accurate), internalized misogyny in the workplace (being assumed to be the one to record-keep is relatable), but if they didn’t say in the book that Trishara was passed over for promotion due to nepotism, I would’ve assumed it was her attitude. She reads as a grating personality rather than one with inherent leadership skills…I’m not sure she deserved earlier promotions based on merit and ability alone… not enough info is given about how she actually works to make that call.

So, in short, the book was well written and edited and performed, but I was not a fan of the MC, therefore I did not have a good time reading this. Perhaps people who like passionate but illogical drama filled people will enjoy the presence the MC brings to the page, it’s just not for me.

I really just enjoyed reading this book.

One bed.
Workplace rivals.
His dad is the boss.
He secretly has always been in her corner.

Sometimes strong, feminist FMC are too much. I’m all for a strong female lead taking up her for herself but some FMC continually are trying to fight battles just for the sake of fighting battles. Tris is not one of those. She stands up for herself yes when she needs to and makes her voice heard.

Rafe. Um basically *swoon*.

Tris and Rafe. ADORE them. The banter, the tension, the {secret} adoration. It is so good. Love it.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.
