The narration was great, & I love a powerful, independent woman who is willing to stand tall & face the injustice of the corporate world.

However, I was a bit bored with this one. Nothing about the plot, characters, or chemistry felt unique. It was all wildly predictable & repetitive.

The overly descriptive moments of the FMC describing to MMC’s facial expressions got downright cringe-worthy. Because it felt like every single scene, she felt the need to vividly describe his face. We get it, he’s hot lol.

I do think that him being a baker was fun. I just wanted more drama, more taboo, etc. especially given the premise of the book & the MMC being the son of the boss.

It was a 2.5-3 ⭐️ listen for me personally.
Thank you for the e-arc!

Not Safe for Work was a cute, enemies to lovers romance. Pretty low on the spice scale, some interesting characters. The audiobook narrator was great!

3.5 stars rounded up to 4! Thank you so much to Hachette Audio for the ALC through NetGalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Not Safe for Work. The narrator did an excellent job. This book tackles some very real themes, and I appreciate the way the author handled them.

The story follows Trishara and Rafe as they embark on a 3 week long company retreat - the two main characters start off as work-place rivals. The story lost me a bit at the beginning when they were only given one room at the resort. Obviously I understand the one bed/one room trope is a fun tool to use, but it felt unrealistic. Some of the arguments and miscommunication between our main characters also felt immature and frustrating.

However, overall, this was a fun and easy read, especially through audio. The narrator made the story engaging and very easy to follow. I loved that we had a fun setting for this story, and I really loved the last few chapters and how this book was wrapped up.

I enjoyed listening to Not Safe for Work the narrator Soneela Nankani did an AMAZING job. I felt like I was watching a cute rom-com... I felt all the emotions in her voice the sarcasm, the anger it was like a movie in my ears. THIS AUDIOBOOK WAS EVERYTHING!

This was a cute, funny, fast paced book. It was everything I love in a book... STEM, forced proximity, enemies to loves, one bed and slow burn. The plot is basically what women deal with in real life, Tris is a woman who works in STEM in a male dominated work field, while Rafa is the son of the boss/a nepo baby! The romance OMG it starts as sarcasm and then turns into flirting and boy does it get good from here and they are at a work event at a RESORT!

I could not stop listening to this book, if you are looking for a cute fluffy good time then this is the book for you.

Thank you Netgalley for sending me a ALC!

Not Safe for Work is a steamy enemies-to-lovers workplace romance that explores sexism and challenges faced by women of color in STEM. Trishara and her rival Rafe are forced to share a suite at a corporate retreat, sparking intense chemistry and sharp banter. Nisha J. Tuli balances sizzling romance with thoughtful social commentary, making this a compelling and insightful read for fans of workplace romance.

4.25/5 stars, I would have loved to give it 5, but I wanted more from the ending of the book (more detail in the review).

I would like to start out by saying that I learned of author Nisha J. Tuli from some of her other works I have reviewed, and my admiration of her writing and her fantasy novels is what led me to this book in the first place, though I was skeptical at first.

Not Safe for Work follows Trishara Malik as she works through discovering who she is in a moment of her life where everything feels stagnant. The plot of the story begins when Trishara (Tris) is selected to represent her branch of the company she works for at a multi-week leadership retreat in Hawaii. she is one of two employees attending from the Chicago branch, and the other is none other than her work nemesis and son and nephew of the branch's big bosses, Rafe (the MMC).

Before diving into the plot of the story, I would like to take a moment to talk about the FMC, Trishara Malik. Tris is an engineer who has noticed herself becoming complacent with her position at WMC. Additionally she is hesitant to get too close to anyone romantically as a result of prior experiences, which impacts her opinion and perception of her coworkers and friends.

The majority of the book takes place during in Hawaii during the retreat. For the main characters, their time in Hawaii begins with a lot of hostility and frustration. Stuck with sharing not just a room for the entire retreat, but a honeymoon suite with only one bed, both individuals sought every opportunity to avoid the room and each other. Over time - and a series of meals on the suite's balcony - Tris and Rafe learn more about each other both inside and outside the company, but also the backstory to certain actions and reactions that have defined their work-relationship (or lack thereof) for the past 5 years. They slowly transition from enemies to friends, and then quickly from friends to something more, though that is definitely a result of the sexual tension that clings to them like the clothes on their back.

Unbeknown to our lovely main characters, a key feature in their relationship over the past five years is non other than miscommunication. As a result of one member of the pair misunderstanding the words or actions of the other, the intention behind their words and actions both before and during the trip led to many arguments and angry storm outs that could have been avoided.

This story also includes a third act breakup, however Tris and Rafe's makeup - and the entire final act of the book - was so rushed that I did not enjoy it. As readers, we spent so much time with Tris analyzing her own thoughts, actions, and reactions during the retreat, yet we were not given the same opportunity following Tris' departure from Hawaii. I loved certain aspects of the end of the book that I do not want to give away, and I loved the way Tris and Rafe made up, but I felt like it was unpolished/unfinished. It felt like the end of an essay or writing prompt where you know you have more to say but you have run out of time/pages. While the ending was neat and every loose end was tied into a bow, I would have liked a couple more pages to smooth the ending of Tris and Rafe's story.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the publishing company, the narrator, and author Nisha J. Tuli for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. The opinions to follow are my own.

Nisha J. Tuli has brought us the story of Trishara who works in a male-dominated industry. After being selected to attend a work training event in Maui alongside her longtime rival, Rafe, the fates seem to be pushing them together at every turn.

What follows is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, single bed romance with some awkward moments, a few laughs and some definite chemistry. The slow burn between Trishara and Rafe was exquisite. There was some tasteful dirty talk that landed perfectly and added some spice to the connection.

There were definitely a few moments when I had to take off my “employer hat”—it was having some serious not workplace appropriate vibes. Not because of the romance, but more due to the way our FMC spoke to her boss early on and was disruptive at a retreat event. Some feedback and frustration were appropriate for our character, but it was a little disconnect for me that she didn’t handle it in a more polished manner.

Once that was out of the way, the rest of the book was great, and larger reactions later in the storyline made sense and were well written.

Soneela Nankani was fantastic as our narrator. She absolutely brought our main character to life. Soneela also had me listening as Rafe whispered things into Trishara’s ear - my attention was fully engaged.

This book is available now, and the audio is a fantastic choice!

I've become more and more interested in reading romance novels throughout 2025 however this one fell a little flat for me. It took a long time for me to get interested (About 40%) The chemistry between the characters drew me in and I enjoyed the story line it just didnt captivate me the way I hoped by the description.

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 by Nisha J. Tuli, narrated by Soneela Konkani, #gifted by @hachetteaudio pub date 5.20.25

I know Tuli is known for her fantasy novels, and I am so happy that my intro to her writing is via this romcom that had me in stitches!

Combining a number of romance-favorite tropes, this story of work rivals who are chosen for a corporate retreat is not just funny because Tuli balances the humor and romance while also calling out the bad behaviors women in STEM constantly face.

And as far as the romance goes, it is 🔥🔥🔥! You know these two are going to hook up, but it’s that tension and the verbal foreplay that builds up and leads to only the best place! And I love that there’s more to Rafe than what meets the eye when it becomes clear that he’s been unhappy with the status quo in his professional and personal life.

Highlights:
🏝️Workplace romance, adversary-to-lovers, forced proximity, one bed
🏝️Women in STEM
🏝️Banter, text banter
🏝️Spice, open door
🏝️Family ambition vs personal ambition

Be aware of: sexism in the workplace, micro aggressions, inappropriate workplace behavior

Soneela Konkani is one of my favorite narrators. She’s so gifted at delivering sarcasm and dry humor, and nails the punchlines. I always, ALWAYS laugh out loud when I listen to her. It’s like I can see the character’s mind in motion along with their physical expressions.

This is one of my favorite romcoms this year! I was excited for any moment when I could pick it up from where I left off. I liked Tuli’s writing and I’m up for reading more from her. Definitely check this out!

Thank you @hachetteaudio for my ALC in exchange for an honest review.

**Review: *Not Safe for Work* by Nisha J. Tuli (Audiobook)**
**Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5)**
*Thanks to NetGalley and Forever (a division of Hachette Books) for the advance audiobook copy.*

*Not Safe for Work* is a trope-packed, tension-filled office romance that delivers on chemistry and conflict. Trishara Malik, a brilliant senior engineer, has been repeatedly overlooked for promotions — the result of blatant nepotism and gender bias in her workplace. When she's invited to a tropical company retreat, she knows it’s more about optics than recognition.

Also on the trip is her longtime work rival, Rafe Gallagher — the boss’s son. Their relationship has always been sharp-edged, full of barbed comments and professional one-upmanship. But in paradise, the line between animosity and attraction starts to blur, and what was once rivalry becomes something more heated.

This enemies-to-lovers romance embraces classic tropes like workplace drama and forced proximity, with a smart, capable heroine at its center. The audiobook narration adds an extra spark to the already sizzling tension between Trishara and Rafe, making their banter and emotional shifts feel all the more immediate.

While some of the workplace dynamics could have been explored more deeply, the story is engaging, witty, and emotionally satisfying. A solid pick for fans of contemporary romance who love complicated power dynamics, slow-burn tension, and sharp dialogue.

One of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers! Also look how cute that cover is!

This workplace rivalry between Trishara and Rafe follows them to a Hawaiian retreat where they take leadership exercises to win a career moving opportunity. What they didn’t see coming was being forced into one suite because the hotel is fully booked and they couldn’t find alternative arrangements. The force proximity, banter and flirting gets you hooked page after page.

I enjoyed the representation that Trishara brought into the struggles and diversity of corporate America. I like how he learned to stand her ground towards the end of the book and bring on the necessary change she was chasing by taking the first step.

Audiobook review: I was super happy when I got a copy of the audiobook. The narrator Soneela Nankani did a great job delivering a good story. The pace and expression elevated the story in such a fantastic way.

Thank you Hachette Audio and Nisha J. Tulli for the ALC of this book!

This book hit everything I look for in a fun contemporary romance 100%!
The characters are real and fleshed out, they have depth and emotion. The relationship between the two MC’s has a well laid foundation as well as getting to see it grow and develop even with as short of a time frame as three weeks! The spice is A+, lately I’ve read a lot of spice that made me cringe, especially when listening on audio sometimes the spice is so cringey it ruins the book for me, I’m never sure if it’s the author or the narrator or a combination of the two. I suspect it’s a combination, the spice here was top tier!!! Well written, well read. The plot/storyline was so well laid out and executed, it was enjoyable from start to finish. The pacing was perfect too, there wasn’t ever a point it felt boring or rushed at all. Every plot point made sense, the emotions felt real.

As for the narration and production of the audiobook, same sentiments, top tier! The narrator was wonderful, she has a smooth pleasant voice, well formed enunciation and no weird accents (my most common complaint for narrators is a Midwest US accent 🤣), she did the male and female voices so well, told the story amazingly and was enjoyable to listen to!!!

The audio was well produced as well, my normal criteria for good production is that I don’t notice the production at all. Good production is meant to not draw attention, instead to make it smooth and flawless. That’s how this book was!

Literally could not be happier with this audiobook in every respect, top tier, A+, loved it so much!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever publishing, and Hachette Audio for an advance review copy of this audiobook, I’m so grateful!!

Trishara is an engineer who feels she is becoming stagnant in her career. She is selected to go on a company retreat to Maui with Rafe, her boss’s son. Rafe and Tris have a history of not getting along and are now forced to spend time together. While getting to know each other Tris realizes that not everything that happened in the past between them was as it seemed. She starts to see a new side of Rafe and the romance ensues!! And let me tell you the spice is spicing! You will fall in love with Rafe! This is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, women in STEM romance. Trishara is a strong, independent, intelligent FMC which I appreciate. She is not a damsel in distress waiting to be rescued by the MMC. You will fall in love with the characters and be rooting for them to be together by the end! If you are looking for a fun summer rom-com read with a strong FMC this one is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

Not Safe for Work is a tropical workplace romcom with real-world issues women encounter in the workplace, a strong STEM rep, slow-burn tension and a powerhouse FMC who is the moment. Trishara is bold, brilliant and the emotional core of this story. Rafe, our MMC, didn’t hit book boyfriend status for me, but the dynamic between them delivered some fun tension and fire.

Soneela Nankani’s narration? She absolutely crushed it. Her pacing, emotion and delivery of Trishara’s sass and vulnerability was fantastic. This was a first listen by Nankani and I was thoroughly impressed.

THE. COVER. 🥵

I loved the tropes in this book: enemies to lovers, workplace romance, women in STEM, bickering married couple banter—YES.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was incredibly relatable to see Trishara navigate a man’s world. I feel like I’m in a similar boat where she doesn’t want to disappoint her family but she’s also doing her absolute best. She was such a girlboss character and her wit made me so happy.

I won’t lie, the book sort of went downhill when Trishara learned that Rafe was single. Then the pacing felt completely off and I was losing interest. And the thing is that they had a good relationship and dynamic towards the end that made me want to root for them more.

But that ending? When she returned home? GET THEM QUEEN 💅🏼

Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!
