Thank you to Nisha J. Tuli, Hachette Audio and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. ♡

₊˚⊹⋆ very excited to start this one!! um hello, the tropes! rivals-to-lovers, forced proximity??? sign me up!

₊˚⊹⋆ first thoughts: have been eyeballing this title since april, so the fact i was able to get my fingers on it as an arc is so exciting to me! right off the bat, we are starting strong with tris being an absolute rafe hater - but it's already obvious that hate is lackluster and concealing more.

₊˚⊹⋆ final thoughts: ugh i love rafe. i love tris, but i do have to say it annoyed me to no avail that she kept getting in her own way. she kept putting up these walls over an issue that truly wasn't even much of an issue in my opinion. i love the way nisha forces us to get in the mindset of not only a woman's pov in stem, but a woc in stem and missing out on opportunities (or gaining them) based purely off their color or gender.

LOVED that the workplace was a woman in engineering, and the FMC overcoming sexism in the workplace in a male dominated industry. Maybe I just don’t know enough about large engineering companies, but it seems a little unrealistic for there to be a 3-week company retreat. I enjoyed the natural progression of their relationship, and it was nice to see them open up to each other and start to break the ice. I loved every time Tris spoke up in regard to the unfairness in the workplace. Rafe is so sweet when he realizes Tris needed help and I love how supportive and nonjudgemental he is. It was nice to learn of his confessions of attraction throughout the story. I do wish this was a dual POV story because I would have really liked to know what was going through Rafe’s head throughout the story. The ending was such a satisfying resolution to all the conflict of the book and it really wrapped everything up nicely

While the story and banter between the characters was fun I kept thinking that the characters were a bit too immature for their ages. I think if this was a story about two rival high school or college characters instead of adults in their profession careers some of the things the characters did wouldn't have been as off putting.

I has the audiobook for this and thought the narrator did a good job.

Thank you so much Hachette Audio, Nisha, and NetGalley for the chance to review this audiobook!
I really enjoyed this from start to finish. Production and sound quality was great and I loved the narrator for Trishara. I felt her emotions in my bones. It made for a very enjoyable listen. I usually play audiobooks at around 1.5-1.6X speed and I had no issues with quality or distortion.
I longingly sighed, I cackled, I even cried at the end.
The slowest of slow burns was WELL WORTH the payoff and I would gladly listen to Rafe & Tris antagonize each other for another 20 chapters.
The chemistry was sizzling, the emotions were high, and the retribution Tris got in the end was *perfect*
I was incredibly satisfied with the ending.

Okay, I’m a sucker for nerdy romances, and this one totally hit the spot.

This book follows Trishara, an engineer at WMC. She’s been with this company for five years, and as a WOC, she feels undervalued—she's been earning the same salary since she started and has repeatedly been passed over for promotions and opportunities.

Things take an unexpected turn when Trishara and her coworker/nemesis—Rafe are selected to attend an elite company retreat in Maui. The goal of the trip is to sharpen their skills and give them the chance to network with other professionals in the industry, potentially opening doors for career advancement.

Once they arrive in Maui, they discover a major problem: they’ll be sharing a hotel room for the next three weeks—with only one bed!

I really loved Tris as a character. She was relatable and confident in her sense of self-worth, especially when it came to her career. This book did an amazing job of highlighting the issues of discrimination, not only in STEM but in the workforce as a whole. I seriously wanted to pat her on the back when she gained the courage to speak up against her sexist colleagues.

Rafe really surprised me in this book. While he enjoys challenging Tris and ruffling her feathers a bit, I didn’t expect him to be that possessive of her. 🤭

Their chemistry felt authentic, and I loved how she encouraged him to go after what he loves, even if people might judge him for it.

On another note, a lot of people tend to hate OWD in books, but I honestly didn’t mind it in this one. I felt like it added just the right amount of drama and actually made me like Tris even more. She didn’t tolerate any of that nonsense and straight-up told Rafe she wasn’t going to put up with it.

Tropes:
• Forced proximity
• Workplace romance
• One bed
• Rivals to Lovers
• Slow Burn

This book is narrated by Soneela Nankani, who did an amazing job bringing Trishara’s story to life. Her voice perfectly complements the book, capturing the challenges women of color face daily when working in male-dominated fields.

Thank you to the author, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for an ALC of this title. All opinions are my own.

This book was a fun listen. Not only did it feature women in STEM it had some great workplace, spicy tension. When Trishara and Rafe both win a work trip but due to booking errors end up in the same room with one bed some fun competition happens. I recommend this book for anyone who likes a good slow burn.

✨ thank you to the author, Hachette Audio, & NetGalley for the audiobook arc ✨

This was cute! I love a good workplace rivals-to-lovers romance & I think it was smart to combine that trope with a vacation setting. I liked the premise, but I don’t know if this is one that will stick with me.

I loved the narrator! She did an excellent job & was probably the main reason this book got a full 3 star rating.

This is a small thing, but if I heard the fmc talk about his smiles one more time… 🫠 I also wasn’t crazy about the ex-girlfriend aspect, & felt like it made our mmc seem very immature.

Tropes: workplace romance, rivals-to-lovers, forced proximity, one bed (🤭)

🎧: Not Safe for Work
🎙️: Narrator: Soneela Nankani

Not Safe for Work, Nisha’s debut contemporary romance, blew me away with its rom-com perfection! I jumped at the chance to relive this story through audiobook.

See my full Not Safe for Work ARC review on Goodreads, IG, and Amazon.

Tropes:
📊BIPOC STEM FMC
💪🏻Forearm Daddy
✂️Rivals to lovers
🗄️Workplace romance
🫂Forced proximity
🛏️Only one bed
🗣️Epic banter
🔥Slow burn 🌶️

The narrator immediately drew me into this story, embodying Tris and her inner monologue beautifully from the very first chapter. I adore Trishara’s intelligence and quirky humor and Rafe’s broodiness and wit. The tension and secret mutual pining was palpable and the banter was delivered flawlessly.

As the story unfolds, the narrator deftly explores their vulnerabilities and the inferno that burns between them.

I loved everything about this story and audiobook! If you’re looking for a sexy workplace rival romance that will have you cackling while serving up sizzling tension and poignant rep, Not Safe for Work is a must-listen!

Beyond grateful to the author and Hachette Audio, Forever, and NetGalley for the ALC copy. This is my honest and voluntary review

This was a cute workplace, enemies to lovers romance! I really liked both of the main characters and how they fed off of each other with their snark and banter. I really liked all of the side characters as well! Without giving away any details, lots of things happened that made me really angry and I would really like to think that there aren’t people in the world that are like some of the people in this book but I know better. I did really like how the FMC handled everything and stood up for herself.
Think Taylor Swift’s “the Man” vibes.
I really liked the narrator that was picked for this book and the whole production was great!
Thank you to Hachette Audio (via NetGalley) for this ARC/ALC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – My Favorite Romance of the Year!

Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli completely swept me off my feet! I listened to the audiobook and was hooked from the very first chapter—the narration was spot-on and brought the characters to life in the best way.

The plot was fast-paced, fresh, and filled with the perfect mix of humor, heat, and heart. I couldn’t get enough of the chemistry between the leads—it felt electric and real. Every interaction had me either grinning, blushing, or reaching for the next chapter as fast as I could.

The characters were so well-developed and compelling. They had depth, flaws, and personalities that jumped off the page. I found myself fully invested in their journey, rooting for them the whole way.

This is hands-down my favorite romance read so far this year. If you're looking for a smart, sexy, and emotional story with memorable characters and a swoon-worthy romance, Not Safe for Work is a must-read (or must-listen)!

This was a great slow-burn, workplace romance rom-com that explored the struggles of women in STEM and the corporate world in general. Tish struggles at first, but learns to stand up for herself as the story develops. It was awesome to see the final outcome and how she epitomized a strong, capable woman.

Rafe and Tish are so-called "enemy" co-workers, although the "enemy" aspect was a little of a stretch. There was definite dislike, but their interactions were laced with romantic chemistry and obvious desire. When they are sent to Hawaii on a work trip, the mishaps and witty banter enhanced the tension between the two and the ultimate pay-off was great!

Soneela Nankani was an excellent choice as the narrator and she really brought Tish's character to life. I would recommend this book/audiobook to anyone who enjoys a slow-burn, workplace romance. It was a great read/listen!

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Nisha J Tuli for an ALC of Not Safe for Work in exchange for my honest review.

I am very conflicted about this. I wanted to like this but I have two major issues with it 1) the narration and 2) the fmc.
1. I got the audiobook as an ALC and while audiobooks aren’t the norm for me I wanted to give it a try. Maybe this is a thing, maybe it’s not but tell me why the narrator sounded like AI. It was so robotic that I wanted to DNF just to make it stop. I kept going because I was weirdly hooked into the story so I think that maybe if I had read it I would have rated higher.
2. Trish pissed me TF off. She was awfullllllll. She complains constantly, she’s insanely thirsty, she’s childish and so mean to Rafe. Taking his personal notebook is not cute or funny or in any way justified. It was such a one sided enemies to lovers that it shouldn’t even be called that. Her entire mentality towards her career made me crazy. I also work with a lot of engineers in a male dominated field and I’m not saying these things don’t happen but jesus it’s not at all how she depicts it. I won’t go off on a tangent about this but it really annoyed me.
I kept reading it because the writing does make you want to know what happens next but honestly I was just there for Rafe.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette audio for the ALC of this audiobook.

I loved the narrator. I thought she did an amazing job.

This story was fun and cute and the spice was spicing. This was my first book by Nisha J. Tuli but it definitely won’t be my last.

Thank you for the ALC.

I want to say I love the narration. It felt completely natural. Like it didn't come off to monotone or anything. They were able to deliver the story in the same fun and serious manner as the book. The book is amazing and fun. While dealing with serious manners of inequality and disabilities in the workplace. I love this book all around and cannot wait to see more from all of these amazing people.

Not Safe for Work is the perfect blend of heat, humor, and heart. Nisha J. Tuli delivers a spicy enemies-to-lovers romance set against a lush Hawaiian backdrop, full of tropical tension and sharp banter.

Zara, a woman in STEM who’s used to being the only woman in the room (and often the sharpest), finds herself in a high-stakes competition with a frustratingly smug — and undeniably hot — rival. What starts as workplace tension quickly turns into something far more electric.

This book brings classic romcom vibes with a modern twist: fierce female ambition, real workplace dynamics, and chemistry that crackles from page one. The enemies-to-lovers arc is well-paced, and the romantic payoff is satisfying without losing the bite.

If you’re into books like The Hating Game or The Love Hypothesis, this one’s for you — but it holds its own with smart writing and memorable characters.

Thank you to #NetGalley and Forever for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Workplace enemies-to-lovers that moves to a resort? Yes please! Trishara and Rafe had such good tension throughout.
Soneela Nankani was amazing and her voice was so clear and engaging. She made all the sarcasm and banter feel so real, like I was right there watching it happen. I usually have a hard time paying attention to audiobooks but Soneela was easy to listen to and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to keep restarting the audio due to the inability to pay attention.

Thanks NetGalley and HachetteAudio for the ARC!

Was this a fun work rivals to lovers vacation/work trip romance? Yes. The best part though? Was the call out and F&ck you to mediocre corporate white men.
Trishara has been passed over time and time again. She is angry and spiteful and my girl gets her bag.(Literally)
I loved having a smart, competent, and no bullshit mfc. I especially loved having her paired with a (mostly) self aware man who, while soft and supportive, isn't a doormat.
The banter was top notch and the angst was both believable and well balanced.
I need more women in stem, more men willing to call out the BS behavior of their peers, and of course more taking everything you're due from shitty corporations.

┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛Synopsis┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Trishara "Tris" is a BIPOC woman working a job in Corporate America that she did not initially sign up for. Like so many women, she's been subject to microaggressions, male dominance, and missed opportunities. But when she's identified as a "rising star" and awarded a chance for a three-week all paid trip to a work retreat in Hawai'i, she can't say no.

The first catch? Her workplace nemesis—and the son of one of the bosses—Rafe, is the other member going. He gets everything on a silver platter. She wanted a promotion, he got it and then moved her to another team. THE NERVE. (But he's also cute, right? No, Tris, he has a girlfriend! But...they haven't been seen together in awhile...)

The second catch? The HR lady booked them in the SAME ROOM. and it only has one bed. And there are no other rooms.

How will these two make it 3 weeks without killing each other? Will Tris get the nerve to finally give Rafe a piece of her mind? What happened to Rafe's girlfriend?

Bonus tidbit: she reads smutty fiction!! Get it, girl!
"I'm a grown woman! and thanks to my trust issues with the entire male species, it's been almost an entire year since I've had sex. There's nothing wrong with fulfilling my needs through the pages of a smutty novel."

My Review:
Overall, this book had it's hooks in me from the beginning. I received an audiobook version and the narrator did a great job. There was SO much sexual tension between the characters, but it didn't feel overly lusty. There were a lot of great side stories and emotional elements that helped carry the main romantic plot nicely.

The whole book felt like "one step forward, two steps back," which can be effective when creating tension, but it never really had any release imo. and while I know this is a work of fiction and meant for entertainment, I felt like it sometimes disguised real-life red flags as green-flags through the lens of a rom-com and consent. I mean... that HR lady should be fired. hahaha. BUT it was very entertaining.

I was also frustrated by the ending. No spoilers, but it gave me the ick.

**big thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC. this was my honest review**
