This book was a super cute rivals to lovers with forced proximity. Soneela Nankani did a wonderful job narrating this book and portraying the words perfectly that Nisha J Tuli wrote. The whole production of the audiobook was done great in my opinion! I really enjoyed the story from start to finish and how well she touched on the sensitive matters as well.

I’m so sad that this book has ended because it was so good. The characters, the plot, the tension - every single thing was beyond good. I was laughing and smiling badd and that’s when I knew this book was good.

The MMC is EVERYTHING and more the things he’d subtly do to show her how much he loved her was *chefs kiss*

This was such a great read.

Also, Hannah?? Who else hated her because she become so annoying especially towards the end and I find it strange how she was so obsessed with the MMC and then in the epilogue it’s like “she moved on and went with someone else” THAT FAST? Like what was the whole point of her “obsession” with the MMC just to do that. Also, I did find it strange that the MMC took so long (until the end of the book) just to cut things off with Hannah.

Other than that I had a great time reading it

I received an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Nisha J. Tuli, @HachetteAudio, and NetGalley for the opportunity.

Not Safe for Work is in my preferred sub-genre (enemies to lovers, specifically when the enemies part was a misunderstanding) so I was pretty much guaranteed to like it - and I did! The story line was very cute. The characters had great chemistry and were very human. This is not going to check all the boxes for someone who is looking for the next best book on the market with perfect prose and flawless storylines, but I don't think that's what the author was going for anyway. As such, my rating will not be judging this book against every book I've ever read, but instead judging it against the more casual books that were aimed more at some fun swooning and engaging characters. On that scale, this book hit the mark. ❤️

The narrator, Soneela Nankani, was spot on with how I would have imagined Tris to sound. Her narration moved at a good pace, and there were no character voices that pulled me out of the story. The part of the audio that *did* pull me out of the story was that, several times (really only in the first half of the book), the audio clips had a fade out while audio was still occuring, which was distracting.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW!!

Things I loved:
- Rafe was never a jerk. He wasn't even trying to be.
- The things Tris took offense to were mostly just Rafe trying to respect her wishes or be a good person.
- The bad-a**, know your worth vibes emanating from Tris
- They were truly human characters, flaws and all. Tris was overly combative due to her past experiences, and Rafe was just trying to do what he felt was right/follow his heart while navigating familial expectations.
- On that note, I love that Rafe diffused conflict with Tris instead of fueling it.
- "Maybe the universe wasn't ready yet." 🥰😍
- THAT EMAIL 👏👏👏👏👏

The things I didn't really love:
- Rafe's attempts at "touch her and die" trope behavior felt a bit out of character for him. Also I don't believe for a second that he would actually make good on any of it if Tris genuinely chose someone else so it fell flat.
- Tris was pretty obtuse. For someone who spends that much time analyzing every situation, she took a REALLY long time figuring out Rafe's interest. If I'm being honest, there should have been zero questions about it after the Three Questions team building activity.
- Tris is sitting on the floor, 3 seconds from a panic attack because there's a tropical storm coming.
Rafe: "Is there something that happened to you that makes you worry like this?"
FMC: "I look up, surprised by his perceptiveness."
WHAT. MA'AM. YOU'RE CURLED IN A BALL ON THE FLOOR. FFS the bar is truly in h***. 😒🤦‍♀️
- The story was very predicable.

Overall, definitely a good book. I think I finished it in two days. If you're looking for a cute, easy to follow read with real characters, check it out!

If you're craving a sizzling office romance with all the feels, Not Safe for Work is your next must-read. This book beautifully blends the classic enemies-to-lovers and slow burn tropes, wrapped in the high-stakes world of a chaotic workplace. Nisha Tuli’s sharp dialogue and witty banter make every page crackle with tension and chemistry.

I loved how the characters evolved beyond their initial friction—there’s a raw vulnerability beneath the snark that truly hooked me. The emotional depth paired with steamy moments felt balanced and authentic, not forced.

One quote that stuck with me:
"Sometimes the most dangerous places are the ones we think we know best."
It perfectly captures the uncertainty and thrill threaded throughout the story.

If you’re looking for a sexy, smart read with layers of emotional complexity, this one delivers—just be ready to get a little Not Safe for Work yourself! 😉

I read this and listened at the same time- I thought the voices were fantastic and wonderful!

Nisha J. Tuli's "Not Safe for Work" solidified herself for me as an author that I NEED to pick up every book she writes.

Trishara has always dreamed of being a female engineer that is respected at her place of employment. Where she works, the male opinion is favored, especially if you are in relation to someone working there. She's shocked when she's picked to represent the company at the corporate retreat in Hawaii. It's finally her chance to show them what she's made of.. even if he arch enemy is the other participant picked to attend. But things definitely aren't what they appear when they arrive to an only one bed situation.

I devoured this audiobook, finding opportunities that were necessary to plug my headphones in and listen. Soneela Nakani brought the warmth and emotion to Trishara's story, making me want to cheer her on starting from chapter one. NSFW made me laugh, cheer and blush with some scenes but also made me crave deserts. Listen for banter and stay for the whimsical setting of Hawaii.

This was such a fun read/listen. I highly recommend for those that enjoyed The Hating Game. I loved the couple dynamic so much; the banter had me laughing out loud. The FMC was witty and smart there's nothing not to love about this character. The MMC was such a sweet heart and had great development through the book. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would highly recommend!

Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli is an Rivals to Lovers workplace romance. Tris is a POC female engineer. She was passed up for a promotion for her Rival Rafe to receive it. He is the boss’s son. Trishara already had a bad experience with her last relationship and workplace. She has become complacent in her job at WMC until she is picked to attend a training trip. Her fire is reignited. Unfortunately for her Rafe is also chosen to attend the trip. When Tris and Rafe arrive, they find out they have been booked to stay in a suite together that only has one bed. Through the 3 weeks of the training program Rafe and Tris grow and find out a lot about each other while also exploring Hawaii. They both have issues they need to figure out if they are willing to overcome.

I loved the girl squad in this book. Everyone needs a Molly, Lan, and Gabrielle in their corner.

I listened to the Audiobook. Soneela Nankani did an amazing job. I really enjoyed listening to the book through her voice. I felt like she really emobided Trishara.

This was an easy read, office rom-com, with excruciating slow burn (which I devoured, along with the banter and whit from the FMC kept me engaged). The ex-girlfriend piece was unnecessary drama. The pacing was a bit off, dragged at times, could have been shorter. There wasn't a lot I got from Rafe, except he needs to smile more and stand up to his Dad. I needed more from Tris, I can't deal with the guarded heart trope because I got hurt for only so long before it gets annoying. I loved Tris standing up for herself, calling the sleezy guy out, and was annoyed that her idol ignored the situation. I felt like there was so much going on in this story, that I forgot about rooting for the FMC and MMC to make it. The audiobook was well done.

Absolutely loved this audio! Tris and Rafe had me hooked from the start. Enemies-to-lovers done right with sizzling chemistry, sharp banter, and real emotional depth. I felt every ounce of Tris’s frustration and ambition, and Rafe totally surprised me in the best way. The tropical retreat setting added the perfect escape vibes, and the narration brought it all to life beautifully. Smart, sexy, and empowering - Not Safe for Work is everything I want in a workplace romance!

Imagine being sent off to a leadership retreat with your biggest rival so that your company can pretend like they don’t have a big sex discrimination problem. Best part? Your biggest rival is the company’s executive son and there was a problem with your reservation so the two of you are sharing a room with only one bed. That’s right this is a honeymoon suite work retreat.

I loved, loved, LOVED everything this book had to offer. A romcom that calls out sexism and racism in workplace, particularly STEM, was much needed and perfectly done. This is a MUST read summer romance. I fell in love with these characters instantly, and the audiobook was perfectly cast and produced. Nisha without a doubt became an auto buy author for me, and I cannot wait to dive into the Trials of the Sun Queen.

Thank you Net Galley for a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I was fortunate enough to be given an ALC of Not Safe For Work from Hachette Audio (thank you so much!), narrated by Soneela Nankani. Ms. Nanakani did a fantastic job narrating this book about toxic masculinity in the STEM workplace. Her voice reminds of Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane in the Archer TV series.

The book itself is about a female senior engineer, Trishara, who has been with her company for 5 years and passed over for countless promotions until some stroke of affirmative action gets her sent to a leadership training retreat in Hawaii. With her rival coworker, Rafe, the boss’s son. A booking mistake lands them in the same hotel room (the honeymoon suite, naturally) and wedding season in Hawaii means that all other rooms are occupied.

If you’re a fan of the following tropes, you’ll definitely enjoy this book:
* Rivals to lovers
* Women in STEM
* Forced proximity
* Only one bed
* Secret pinning

Audiobook Review: Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli
Narrated by: Soneela Nankani

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli

The Book gets 2,5 stars from me.

If you like to listen to a romance with themes of corporate america, this one is for you

It was an easy enough listen and especially the narration made the experience much more enjoyable. The story itself unfortunately didn’t really work for me.

The romance felt a bit underwhelming. I didn’t enjoy them already having a shared history, but us finding out only later on. The flashbacks to those earlier moments didn’t help, they felt more like interruptions and it didn’t make sense for me to add that aspect. Also adding miscommunication into the mix, I found myself not really connecting to the characters.

As the title hints, this book leans heavily into a work romance. In the story they are at a work retreat, so despite them not being at their usual work place the retreat centers heavily around those topics. The setting in Hawaii had so much potential but we therefore barely got a glimpse of it. Unfortunately, it was just a bit too much for my taste.

It was overall a fine listen and there are important topics mentioned, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.
If corporate romance is your thing, you might enjoy this one more than I did.

Thanks to netgalley for an advanced copy of the audiobook for Not Safe for Work! My review on the audio side of the book is fantastic narration and flow. The narrator had a very calm and collective voice, and was easy to listen to! Highly recommend if you like to listen :)

The story itself was a fun one too, a great light read, with a STEM twist, enimes to lovers, and fun scenic setting. I love discovering new authors and this was a fun read!

Thank you Hachette Audio and Nisha Tuli for the ARC via Netgalley.
I absolutely loved the audio, the narrator Soneela Nankani was perfect for this workplace romcom.

Tris was a strong, smart multi-racial girl boss who was tired of the BS and stood up for herself. She was always fighting back in the sexist workplace, always holding her own. Then Rafe was dreamy, hot and sweet. I did wish that we got more about Rafe himself versus the drama that was his family but overall loved him. The chemistry between Tris and Rafe was the ultimate slow burn.

While I did wish for a little more with this one I did enjoy the audiobook giving it an all around 4 stars.

Okay Nisha, I get the hype now! I absolutely need to read Trial of the Sun Queen soon!

Not Safe Work was the perfect steamy workplace romance. I love love loved the banter between Trish and Rafe. They had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. Trish is such a strong character that is a great representation for women in the workplace too. The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life and keeping me hooked the whole time.

Thank you to Netgalley, Nisha J. Tuli and Hachette and Little, Brown Audio for the Advanced Listener's Copy of the audiobook!

This was one of my most anticipated reads for romance this year, and it did not disappoint! The only disappointment is me, sadly, because I didn't annotate properly prior to the AB being archived, my bad, very sad.

There is so much to unpack here. My first note is that the one bed trope is now going to be highly sought after, for me, and was the reason I was lightly (not lightly) gripping the edge of my seat, elated and awaiting THAT moment. Another personal hit for me was the chronic pain representation, since that hit the nail on the head for me. The last hit was the blatant misogyny Tris experienced, with Nisha's first-hand experience of being a woman in a male-dominated field, being the kicker. I also may, or may not, have wanted to punch a wall when there was very obvious racism thrown at her by Rafe's ex-girlfriend.

Rafe? My god. When I saw that tall, dark and lanky man on the cover, I knew this was for me. Now, having digested the sweet goodness that it this story, I can say with full confidence that this muffin of a man is an absolute dream. The dynamic of Rafe and Tris lends to the plot so well, because let's be honest here, who doesn't love the enemies to lovers trope? Bonus points if they really loved each other all along.

Special shoutout goes to Soneela Nankani, because she absolutely KILLED it as narrator.
I wish I had quotes... but I don't :( IT WAS VERY QUOTABLE!

The Hating Game meets The Unhoneymooners. Both books I really enjoyed so when I read the premise of this one I was instantly drawn to it. I’ve also read and loved Nisha J. Tuli’s The Nightfire Quartet, so I came into this with high hopes. Maybe a bit too high.

The book does have its strengths. The tropical setting was fun, the banter between characters was good, and the audiobook narration was excellent. It’s what kept me going, honestly. I also appreciated the side characters, who added some nice energy to the story.

That said, it didn’t fully work for me. Coming from a STEM background myself, I found the portrayal of the sexism in that field to be quite realistic, but the way the FMC constantly dwelled on it felt repetitive. I get that it's a tough environment (I live it), but I would’ve liked to see her handle it with a bit more agency or perspective. That’s a personal take, and others might relate to her more than I did.

The main characters are well fleshed out, though the MMC seemed to have one too many surprise talents, it stretched believability for me. There was also a fair bit of miscommunication, which isn’t my favorite trope and made the plot drag at times.

Overall, this was an average but entertaining romcom. If you’re looking for something fast-paced, light, and filled with workplace drama, banter, and some heavier social themes, it’s worth picking up, especially in audiobook format.

I enjoyed this one! It was definitely written in Nisha J Tuli style, but with that contemporary vibe. I enjoyed it.

I do think she writes better and more in depth fantasy.

This one fell a bit flat in comparison. While it kept me interested throughout the story, I think it needed a bit more climax maybe?

The narrator as always was perfect.
