Trishara and Rafe are sworn workplace enemies, or so she thinks. They're sent to a retreat where they'll compete for a coveted position, but things get complicated when they're stuck staying in the same suite with only one bed.

I liked the story, but overall had some issues with the whole book. Trish was all over the place with her feelings with Rafe, one minute hating him and the next completely lasting over him. Maybe it was the narrator, herself, but I got very annoyed by this. She made a lot of assumptions about him, which ultimately was her main concern was others making assumptions about her.

I did really appreciate the fact that it addressed the sexism and racism in STEM fields. But I will say, I just kept wishing that she would get therapy, but I did love when she stood up for herself. I just wish she would have done so far earlier in the book.

Overall, I think I may have liked this more as a physical book vs an audiobook, but it was still a fairly good listen.

Thanks to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the ARC. All views and opinions are my own.

Trishara Malik had once dreamed of being the first woman of color to make her way to the top of WMC Purcell, but now? With Corporate America, nepotism, and white male privilege? Rafe Gallagher, son of WMC Purcell’s boss gets her hard-earned promotion.

Not Safe For Work follows two rival engineers as they go on a trip to Hawaii on a company retreat for leadership training. But of course, there’s only one hotel room, and it might only include one bed…

This is a spicy stand-alone workplace romance novel. So, buckle up friends.

Tris was such a perfect FMC. We love a woman in STEM. She’s strong, speaks up against everything wrong in the workplace, and knows her worth. As she should, she’s perfect ✨.

Rafe… he’s basically the base line for what we *should* expect from men. He was sweet and charming and he stood up for Tris when it was needed. However, at some points he was overbearing and acted too much like he was already with Tris. I love a story when the MMC acts all “touch her and 💀”, but the timing was off and he was way too brutish about it. Even if we do hate the other man. Also, I really liked his family dynamic and how that was a strong cord through the novel, and it pushed the story along.

The narrator, Soneela Nankani, did amazing! The sass?! Oh my god! The way she ate up as Tris and I loved how she voiced Rafe and his quips. This audiobook was so easy to follow along with, it all went so smoothly. I love when it all feels like it’s been done in one go, perfectly synched the book.

In other words, I very much enjoyed this workplace romance/enemies to lovers vacation-esq mash up. It’s the perfect read for the summer, especially if you wish you could also go on a paid work vacation.

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio | Forever for providing me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Smart, sexy, and seriously addictive 🖤
Not Safe For Work had me hooked with its sharp wit, sizzling tension, and that perfect enemies-to-lovers vibe. The workplace drama was juicy, the chemistry was chef’s kiss, and the emotional moments hit just right. Plus, the narrator? Total star. They brought such depth and flair to the characters—every snarky line, every vulnerable beat, and all the steamy tension just popped. If you’re looking for a romance that brings both brains and spice to the table, this audiobook delivers.

“Rafe, why did you draw me?” I whisper. The silence drags on so long that I don’t think he’ll answer, but then he says, “Because I draw things that are beautiful to me.”

As a female in the corporate world, MAN this book made me feel seen. I love Tris, her character was so relatable I kept pausing my read to be like SAME GIRL. Her struggles were so real and I loved how authentic she felt.

Rafe was so fine. I just knew he was smitten the wholeeee time despite all their fights lol the bantering was so good I loved every single conversation they had!

the one thing that annoyed me was the ex girlfriend plot.. she just wouldn’t go awayyyyy like omg??? the constant phone calls and him continuing to pick up was exhausting. It was kind of contradictory how he was so close with her but she was also portrayed as a bitchy rich girl that looked down on Tris and others who were not in her position.. I also hated that he drew her lol I wanted that to be a Tris-only treatment but it wasn’t and I’m petty about it

I received an ALC, and it made reading this book even more enjoyable. The narrator did a great job, this isn’t a dual narration, so she voiced the male character as well and I think she did great!

The slow burn and witty banter were great! Loved the Maui setting and the audiobook narrator did a fantastic male voice.

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately couldn’t form a connection with the characters. The narrator’s performance, especially of Trishara’s voice, often felt flat missing the emotional nuance I needed to really care about her journey. Tris is a brilliant and ambitious engineer in a male-dominated workplace, navigating sexism, nepotism, and the struggle of being consistently overlooked. Yet the audiobook performance didn’t capture her drive or frustration in a compelling way, which made it difficult to stay immersed.

This audiobook was wonderful! I read the book and listen to the audio at the same time! The Corporate world drama was fantastic and then you add in the chemistry and the romance, and you have a perfect book!

Trishara Malik is nearing her breaking point as an engineer, constantly working twice as hard as her white, male counterparts for a fraction of the recognition (or promotions). When Tris is given the opportunity to leave Chicago for a three week corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii, her excitement is somewhat stunted by the other participant from her office - the boss’s son, Rafe Gallagher. Tris and Rafe have always butted heads, and when a booking error leads to the two sharing a room, Tris refuses to let her guard down in front of her biggest competitor, even when Rafe’s ridiculously attractive body continues to catch her eye. As they compete and team up during various aptitude tests and team building exercises, Tris begins to realize that Rafe might not be the villain after all, if only she can learn to trust again.

This romcom provided everything I might want in a summer romance story! The characters have depth, good banter, and aside from one decision that still baffles me, they made reasonable choices throughout the story! Tris finds some remarkable allies while also experiences heartbreaking and infuriating treatment at the hands of co-workers and supervisors. But her love story with Rafe was wonderful, and the ending was super satisfying regardless of being predictable. Work-place romances often stress me out, but this one didn’t! The beach vacation setting probably helped with that too.

Thank you, @netgalley and @readforeverpub for the chance to listen to and review this book!

A modern-day rivals to lovers with all of the best tropes without being trope-y: workplace romance, forced proximity, only one bed, slow burn, and more. I loved that there was also representation of chronic pain, women in STEM, and particularly a woman of colour calling out sexism in her white man dominated workplace. I feel like the themes of racism and sexism where handled tactfully and had a good balance of the real issues we face everyday with the happily ever after we love in our romances. Tris is an absolute badass of a FMM who can hold her own and won't put up with people being shitty. And Rafe, the MMC, is a man who listens, learns, and does something about it. Very Mr Darcy of him.
The narration by Soneela Nankani was impeccable.

thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook

this was actually a fun read but the only thing that kind of threw me off was how childish they were with them being almost 30 years old like i cant

3.5 stars 🌺 Enemies to lovers • Office Shenanigans • Hawaiian Vibes

This was your classic enemies-to-lovers rom-com — nothing wildly groundbreaking, but still a super entertaining beach read that delivered some fun one-liners and swoony moments. The Hawaiian setting definitely added a nice touch of escapism.

The first half felt a bit “meh,” but the second half totally picked up steam and had me much more invested. I really wish we had gotten both POVs though — I was dying to know what Rafe was thinking the whole time!

The author’s note was a highlight — I loved that Nisha J. Tully wove her own experiences into the story. It gave the book a more personal, grounded feel that I really appreciated. Also, props to the narrator for keeping things engaging all the way through!

– Diane = trash.
– The Hannah situation got old fast.
– The fantasy book nods? 👏 Yes please. And now I’m extra motivated to finally pick up Trial of the Sun Queen — it’s been mocking me from my TBR forever.

Final thoughts: not a new favorite, but a solid pick if you’re in the mood for a light, slightly spicy summer fling of a book.

Thank you so much for this advanced listen of the audiobook!

I found the plot of Not Safe for Work so fun! I think it served amazing rom-com vibes for summer! I really liked both characters and their backgrounds! I think the voice acting was good. I definitely recommend the audiobook and the overall book!

Classic story. Really liked the story. I have to admit I had to start it over on most parts because I got lost a few times, but overall I liked the story. The voice actors were great. And for me that can make or break an audiobook. I would definitely recommend this to people if they asked for something good to listen to.

Not Safe for Work by Nisha Tuli is an absolute blast on audio! The narration was spot on. Each character was brought to life with personality and charm, making the witty banter and sizzling chemistry even more enjoyable.

This workplace rom-com is packed with sharp dialogue, laugh-out-loud moments, and just the right amount of emotional depth. The enemies to lovers dynamic is done so well, and both narrators nailed the tone, pacing, and tension perfectly.

Nisha Tuli continues to shine with her clever writing and ability to blend humour with heart.

Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC. This was such a fun and engaging listen from start to finish!

The narration of this book was so impressive that I instantly put it on my top romance single narration books! I honestly couldn't notice that the narrator was speaking the entire time because she did different characters so well. She definitely made this book even better, and am very pleased to see she is a South Asian woman like the FMC.

An amazing summer vibe rom-com that I devoured in one day! I had no doubt that Nisha J. Tuli would suck me in from the very beginning, just as she always does. However, I was impressed on how relatable this book was, and was not aware of Nisha's past in engineering. Her author's note truly got me in my feels. If you are a woman in STEM, South Asian, or suffer from chronic migraines (three things I have), then this is something definitely you don't want to miss. Because Nisha understands the discrimination, and her calling them out in her own funny and unique way. healed something in me.

This starts out as a workplace rivals to enemies to lovers rom-com where the two main characters are stuck going to a work retreat in HAWAII together AND somehow get suck in the same apartment. A nightmare for them and a dream for us. This is filled with lots of tension, jealousy, spice, and the struggles of being a woman in STEM. The MMC has a rough exterior but once we get to know him, he is just so CUTE. I was instantly in love when we discover something about him. Like kicking my feet and screaming.

There are honestly many hilarious moments where I laughed out loud, and i could FULLY see this as a rom-com movie so perfectly. I have even casted my main characters. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read all of Nisha's book which I will probably also devour in one day.

This was such a fun summer book read. A great enemies to lovers book that occurs within a workplace setting. Lots of classic tropes of being stuck in the same room and on vacation (work) together. Would suggest this to anyone looking for a quick romance.

Not Safe for Work was a solid read and it delivered on some of my favorite tropes; enemies to lovers, only one bed (gasp) and of course workplace romance.. The banter between Rafe and Tris was spot on and I loved the single POV. Overall a great read.
