Not Safe for Work is an empowering read that doesn’t shy away from tough topics. It’s a story about finding your voice, standing up for yourself, and refusing to settle for less than you deserve, both in your career and your relationships. The romance is sweet and satisfying, and the ending, while a bit fast, left me rooting for both Trishara and Rafe as they chase after the lives they truly want.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a workplace romance with substance, enemies to lovers, or if you’re looking for a heroine who’s easy to cheer for and a hero who isn’t afraid to break the mold. Also- I know you were wondering, Not Safe for Work is just the right amount of spicy.

I love a workplace romance. It’s been a minute since I have read one that I truly enjoyed.
The narration by Soneela was top notch, couldn’t have asked for more.
I am absolutely going to pick up more from this author!

I loved this book! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this one did not disappoint. I love that Tris was working in a field that was male dominated and trying her best to hold her own. I think this really portrayed what it is like to work in these types of environments and how it can feel for a woman which Nisha did not shy away from. The banter in this is top notch. The spice is there and the way they describe things. Whew chefs kiss. This was a slow burn and it had me screaming in happiness at the end. I definitely recommend this. I intend to post reviews on insta, good reads and TikTok

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC!
Happy publishing day to Nisha!

Thank you to Hachette Audio for the review copy! Not Safe for Work snuck up on me—wasn’t on my radar until glowing reviews started rolling in, and I’m so glad I listened. This is the kind of romance I absolutely love: smart, slow-burn, trope-celebrating, and emotionally grounded. With fake dating, a tropical retreat, and yes—a delightful one-bed situation—this novel leans into classic romance setups while delivering something deeper. What stood out most was how much heart and complexity was packed into the characters’ journeys—not just in finding each other, but in navigating identity, ambition, and vulnerability. Tuli’s writing brings humor, chemistry, and care to every scene. It’s the perfect summer escape that left me smiling and a little swoony, rooting not just for the romance, but for the people in it.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! Soneela Nankani did a beautiful job at bringing this story to life. I’m not usually a fan when it’s only one narrator, but I was captivated by her performance throughout the entire book, that I didn’t even notice it was only her 😂 She was able to convey all the needed emotions and kept an easy pace to follow along with, no matter the speed I listened to. Both the audiobook and story were an easy 5/5 ⭐️ for me.

I really disliked this contemporary workplace rivals-to-lovers romance by Nisha J. Tuli. For something advertised as a romantic comedy, I didn’t find it very funny, or very romantic. It featured several tropes I usually enjoy, such as enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and only one bed, but I didn’t feel like they were put to good use here. If I hadn’t received an advanced listening copy that I wanted to give a fair review, I would have DNF’d this, which is something I very seldom do.
The story is told entirely from engineer Trishara Malik’s point of view, and I hated being stuck in her head. She comes across as incredibly self-centered, shallow, and appearance oriented. I rolled my eyes every time she judged someone based on how they were dressed. She has been repeatedly subject to sexist and racist behavior and had a traumatic experience at a previous job, but she didn’t respond well. Five years later, she is navigating life with a gigantic chip on her shoulder, being rude and frequently unprofessional. She can’t admit how obsessed she is with her rival, the boss’s son, Rafe Gallagher. Instead of getting flirty banter between them, we get alternating juvenile arguments and appearance-based lust. Yuck.
I know we need more stories of women and persons of color in STEM, but this wasn’t a good example. There were so many times when Tris behaved unprofessionally, right up to the end of the book, when she writes an important letter to her employer revealing some inconvenient truths, delivered with an F-bomb. Do young people think that’s acceptable behavior these days?
Perhaps it’s a generational difference. I worked in the software industry and later for engineering firms in the 90s and 2000s. I was on the receiving end of a lot of sexist behavior at times, but it didn’t make me bitter, and I was able to stand up for myself without resorting to foul language, so I just can’t relate to Tris.
The audiobook production was excellent, as was Soneela Nankani’s narration. She’s fun to listen to, with good pacing, clear pronunciation, distinctive voices to suit each character, and the ability to convey mood and emotion effectively.
Thanks to Hachette Audio for providing me with a free advanced review copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

Listened to the auto book for Not Safe for Work. Great listen, the story follows two work rivals on a three week business “retreat”. Life and work keeps putting the two together in groups time and again; this of course causes truths and misconceptions from the past to come to light. The narrator does an excellent job with the story. Great read/ listen, highly recommend. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and review this story.

I absolutely love this book! The narrator does both characters so well and truly brings them to life. Nisha did a perfect job at showcasing what it is like to be in a work environment dominated by men. This rivals to lovers made me smile, laugh and swoon!

This was such a great entrance into the contemporary genre for Nisha J Tuli (normally a romantasy author)! I loved everything about it. I am a sucker for work place romances and 'only one bed' is my favorite microtrope so I knew as soon as they were checking into the hotel that it was gonna get good! The chemistry between Tris and Rafe was just so good. All of the stolen glances and the alpha touch her and die energy of a romantasy in a modern day setting.
Tris is such a strong female lead, someone who knows her mind and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in no matter the consequences. It was incredibly refreshing to see an fmc who was a little older and had a fully developed frontal cortex. While she is strong willed she does have some well deserved trust issues that cause some angsty interactions between the two.
Rafe on the other hand has a ton of daddy issues. I love his secret passion project and it just makes him even more of a lovable mmc. The way that he bends himself backwards to make Tris happy just gives you the warm and fuzzies. I really enjoyed seeing him grow a backbone and stop being walked all over by his father and Hannah (take a hint girl).
The audiobook for this was very very good. The narrator, Soneela Nankani was incredible. She was able to convey so many emotions and she had great pacing throughout the novel. She did a great job at bringing Tris to life.
Overall, I would definitely recommend both the audiobook and the physical copy to anyone who enjoys a contemporary rom-com. Thank you to the publishers, Hatchet Audio and Forever(Grand Central Publishing) for the Advanced Listener Copy in exchange for my honest opinion!

📖 Bookish Thoughts
This book was painfully accurate about corporate America! I’ve literally done the same leadership exercise Trishara had to do, and I couldn’t stop laughing. Trishara was such a force. I was rooting for her the entire time.
I loved her and Rafe together! Their petty rivalry had me cackling. Their level of competitiveness was ridiculous and I loved it. Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook!

🎧As an audiobook, Soneela Nankani is fantastic, lively and on point in her performance, character depictions and capturing this story in its intented form through her narration. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿Workplace drama, a training getaway in Hawaii, a booking nightmare mixing up rooms, angst and character tensions while calling out and addressing key workplace issues...can I get a yes please!🤭

Sometimes the competition results in more than one winner—especially when the environment forces you to confront all the messiness.

📚I was intrigued by the blurb and jumped right in! This was my first Nisha book and it did not disappoint. I was highly entertained and hooked from the first chapter.
The office retreat set in Hawaii took a turn when these two rivals are given the perfect opportunity to get to know each other up close and personal.
Nisha gave us the angst, drama, swoon and major main character energy while covering key themes of the many challenges facing women in male dominated fields, women of colour breaking barriers, nepotism in the workplace and male privilege.
Happy Reading!

content warnings: misogyny, racism, sexual harassment, alcohol, sexual content, infidelity (prior to story)
engineer trishara malik is tired of being overlooked for promotions by her white male colleagues—including rage gallagher, the boss’s son who received her hard-earned promotion years ago. she’s shocked when she’s chosen to attend the corporate leadership conference in hawaii. this conference will give her the chance at a coveted spot in an executive training program. unfortunately, though, rafe is also attending…and, thanks to a booking error, they’re sharing the honeymoon suite. as they compete against each other during the workshop activities, tris realizes that rafe might not be the villain she’s made him out to be, after all.
i’ve really enjoyed a couple of nisha j. tuli’s romantasy books, so i was excited to read a contemporary romance by her! i loved the tension between tris and rafe and how this played out throughout the story with their forced proximity situation. i also appreciated the discussions of being a woman, especially a woman of color, in STEM that tris had throughout the book. overall, this was an enjoyable romance, and i think it’d make a perfect beach read.
narration: i was so excited to learn soneela nankani narrated this audiobook! as always, she did a wonderful job narrating and bringing the characters to life. i highly recommend this audiobook!

5/5 stars! Thank you NetGalley and Hacette Audio for this audiobook of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli, narrated by Soneela Nankani.
Um....what have I been missing out?! This is my first book by this author and it was...fantastic. I was hooked from the beginning! Especially someone with a corporate background AND being a female - I can totally relate when it comes to being passed over on promotions. ANYWAYS, I digressed - this audio book was done very well. I am definitely a fan of this author and will be looking out for her other novels/series. (Not going to lie..this sorta makes me miss working in the office and getting some sort of gossip or flirting here and there LOL)
The narrator for this book is fantastic! She made all the characters stand out and did so well reading it. I think also the voice of a "corporate female" was perfect for this book. Book was really good, I had to listen to it during my walks so I could really focus on the storyline - well worth it! Love love love!

Oh how I LOVED this. I will always stan a hyper-competent, zero-nonsense, high-heeled assassin of the corporate patriarchy—and Trishara was exactly that. Our girl is DONE playing nice with the “good ol’ boys” club. She’s not here to pour your coffee or take your meeting notes—she’s here to light your fragile male ego on fire and strut away in Louboutins.
And bless her for it. I, too, have been the lone woman in a room full of tie-clad toddlers masquerading as professionals, expected to smile and serve drinks. So yes, watching Tris rip through their bull like a buzzsaw of justice? Cathartic. Inspirational. Spiritually healing.
Now let’s talk about Rafe. Sweet baby angel Rafe. He will melt even the coldest, deadest heart—yes, even yours, Belinda. He’s respectful, emotionally available, and drops lines like:
“There’s nothing unmissable about you. That’s all I meant. That there isn’t anywhere you could go where everyone wouldn’t notice you.”
AND THIS IS JUST FLIRTY BANTER. This isn’t even the grand gesture. HOW am I supposed to emotionally regulate through that?
Speaking of banter: this book delivers it like it’s a love language. If you’re someone who believes foreplay starts with insults disguised as compliments, welcome home. Tris and Rafe’s repartee was chef’s kiss—quick, clever, and so packed with tension I needed a fan and a snack break.
So why the 4 stars instead of 5? Vibes. That intangible little magic that makes you forget to eat, sleep, or acknowledge other humans because you’re too busy devouring chapters like Pringles. This book came so close—it nibbled at my soul, but didn’t quite feast.
Still, I will absolutely be reading more from Nisha J. Tuli. Her characters have teeth, her dialogue has claws, and her pacing has me side-eyeing my alarm clock at 3 a.m.
Also, shoutout to Sonella Nankani, whose narration brought every character to life with enough flair to keep me captivated through laundry, dishes, and an existential crisis or two. I normally prefer dual narration (because let’s be real, Rory’s voice coming out of a woman’s mouth could be jarring), but Sonella crushed it.
Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Nisha J. Tuli for the absolute privilege of receiving this ALC in exchange for an honest—and emotionally unhinged—review.

thank you so much to Netgalley & Hachette Audio for the advanced copy!
Not Safe For Work follows workplace rivals, Tris & Rafe, as they’re chosen to attend a 3 week long leadership retreat in Maui. they are of course seated next to each other on the flight from Chicago and a mix up in the hotel means there’s only one room left with one bed, a fantastic start!
this is a great summer read that i would definitely recommend to a friend going in a sun holiday, it’s an easy read and even the slightly more serious topics are handled with the appropriate brevity. once Rafe starts to open up, the chemistry really kicks in and it’s so easy to see why he & the gorgeous Tris are a great match
a point of frustration for me potentially comes down to the editing more than the writing, some points were really belabored. for example, when Tris is first announced as one of the people going on the retreat, she’s understandably surprised. however, no amount of surprise requires nearly 3 entire minutes of her work bestie hissing at her to go to the top of the room while her boss is asking her to do the same. the secondhand embarrassment might have been intentional and if so, bravo because it made me viscerally uncomfortable.
at first, i wasn’t sure i was going to enjoy the narrator but i thought i had warmed to her until we encountered the word “macaron”. and then “tousled”. and then “macaron” 17 more times. unfortunately took me completely out of the story, not at all the author’s fault but definitely something i would expect to be picked up during the recording or editing.
overall, this was a good foray into a new genre for Nisha J Tuli, i’d definitely like to see more contemporary romance from her.

I enjoyed the book.
It gives me the perfect vibes for reading or listening on the beach.
I enjoyed the tropes and spice.
Overall it was a fun read.
It was light and enjoyable.
I received an ALC and ARC.
The narration was fantastic.
I do think I prefer her fantasy books more.

4.5⭐️
This book follows Rafe and Tris. They are work rivals who are picked for a leadership retreat in Hawaii. They are of course, on the same flight, and staying in the same hotel and when they go to check in they are booked into the same room and there is only 1 bed. Cue the delicious tension.
I loved this book, I binged the audio in 2 days! I loved the very slow burn, the backdrop of this leadership retreat in paradise, the absolute thick tension between Rafe and Tris, and their banter.
Tris was such a fun character, I loved her perspective of a woman of color in a male dominated field and I absolutely loved it every time she clapped back at her boss, coworkers or fellow attendees for their sexist behavior.
Rafe was harder to get to know, but it became glaringly obvious that he was obsessed with Tris and he kept showing it throughout the beginning of the book. I loved how protective he was of her, and how possessive he would get! And the times he took care of her (headaches and then the storm) those times made me swoon.
I liked their dinners on the balcony, and the conversations where they truly started to get to know each other. Those small moments when they weren't bickering were my favorites I think.
I really did not like Rafe's ex, Hannah, and how he kept taking her calls, despite insisting that they were broken up and he had no desire to get back together. I could understand Tris feeling confused by that.
This was told in single POV, and the only thing I wanted was Rafe's POV but only because I wanted to know what he was thinking during so many scenes!
Soneela Nankani did an incredible job narrating this book, I honestly did not want to stop listening to it!
This was such a fun workplace romance and I hope this author writes more romance books in the future.

INFINITY ♾️ STARS ✨
I got approved for an audio ALC on NetGalley yesterday even though the book has been released, so had to give this a listen. I knew very quickly I’d need a shelf trophy, so headed to B&N while I listened and picked one up. My heart!!!
This story is everything I look for in a romance - we’ve got the swoon and tension, the lessons woven throughout, the enemies to lovers/one bed tropes, etc. I cannot stress enough how much I loved this book.
Phenomenal work to Nisha J. Tuli on her debut into the romance genre! I will 💯 be checking out her backlist!
Thanks to Forever pub for the ALC!! 🎧

SLOW BURN ROMANCE ALERT!!!
I really enjoyed the pace of this romance and appreciated that the reason for Tris (FMC) and Rafe's (MMC) misguided hatred for each other was not an annoying plot point but felt somewhat realistic or at least understandable. Plus, I am a sucker for the one bed trope....I cannot deny that it brings me great joy. I also appreciated how the author managed to put examples of what it is like to be a women and POC in a traditional business setting. I felt that it was a good underlying message to the novel without being overbearing.
As for the narrator- I felt that Soneela Nankani did a really great job of capturing both of the characters voices without it being distracting. The narration flowed very naturally.
