I absolutely loved the vacation vibes in this one! The beach setting really added so much to the story and made it impossible for me to put down. The banter between Tris and Rafe was so great, I loved how flirty and sexy it was overall! The audio was done incredibly well and I by far recommend enjoying the story that way.

I ate this up and have NO REGRETS ❤️‍🔥

So Nisha J Tuli is gifted. I've read her romantasy/fantasy and now I've read her contemporary romance, and she is just so good at keeping you hooked and entertained. NSFW had me riled up, happy, frustrated, excited, and relieved by the end of it.

Trishara was a great leading lady with a character arc that I appreciated. Her hate-fatuation with Rafe was relatable and I liked how the story addressed how her own preconceptions created a nemesis in him, rather than them being true enemies. Trish throughout the whole book was very cheer-on-able, and hey, she's a woman in STEM as well for those of you who want more of those romances!

The audio was great and the narrator knocked Trishara's personality out of the park.

Thank you to Forever Publishing & Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the e-ARC and e-ALC!

firstly, thank you to the publisher for an arc and alc!

3.5ish stars — debating on the rating because some aspects were a bit childish, but overall i enjoyed this workplace-that doesn’t really take place in the office-romance

this was my first nisha j tuli book, and while i enjoyed it, i did expect a little more regarding character development and plot expansion based on her romantasy series (which i’ve still got to read).

as for the audio, the narrator did a fine job!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Not Safe for Work – Nisha J. Tuli

Slow burn ✔️
Loathe to love ✔️
Workplace romance ✔️
🌶️🌶️🌶️ tension that builds
Angsty, emotional, and packed with top-tier banter.
Bonus: thoughtful chronic migraine rep that adds depth.

Soneela Nankani crushed this narration! She brought the slow-burn tension, sharp banter, and emotional depth to life perfectly. Every character felt real, and the angst + spice? Chef’s kiss. Made the story even more addictive.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hachette audio for my ALC💜

A 3-week everything-paid "conference"?! WOWZA. This was cute and enjoyable. For some reason, I was expecting a spy romance based on the cover...so when they were both engineers, I was like, oh. While I did like the FMC, the MMC fell a tiny bit flat and ultimately seemed like a horny guy. I liked the end of the book, though! I loved that Trishara stood up for herself in the end.

There were some, unfortunately, very relatable scenarios that were discussed in this book surrounding women in a male-dominated field and I wish it was written about more. I felt like the topic was handled and written very well.

The narrator was great, but I did end up jumping up to 2.5x speed because it felt slow at my usual 2x speed. This is actually a speed I have never listened to, and I don't know if it was just slower narration or my overactive brain. I would absolutely listen to a book with this narrator again though.

Thank you NetGalley for the Audiobook ARC!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The banter and the setting and the romance and the development of both characters alone and together was so fantastic. I found myself so antsy to continue listening after each chapter ended. Tris was such a fun and strong FMC and Rafe is one of those MMC’s that you simply cannot help but root for. This was a romance book but it was so much more than that too. I would highly recommend this for any romance reader, especially if you want to laugh AND cry.

I absolutely ate Not Safe for Work up in one big bite 😂 and mid chew, I stopped to pre-order a physical copy. I am feral for rivals or enemies to lovers romcoms that are also work romances and with forced proximity due to x,y,z in tropical dreamy locations. Guess what? Not Safe for Work has all of that. 😂 The tension and chemistry between Tris and Rafe was soooo good. Rafe definitely is a smoldering 11, alright 😂. While their evolving relationship is the main focus, this story also has the theme of a woman in a man's world. While there is one scene, I wish no one, not even a fictional character, would ever have to go through, I'm proud of Tris and how she handled it. This is the perfect summer read. Now, if only I could also be on the beach in a dreamy location for a reread.

I absolutely loved the narrator for this book. I found she embodied Tris so well! It was a joy to listen to.

CW: misogyny, sexual harassment.

A big thank you to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

This was such a fun bingeable read! I love Nisha’s writing and her ability to write a strong FMC absolutely shines in this book. The banter between the two MC’s had me kicking and giggling my feet often. If you are looking for a sloooooow burn rom com with women in STEM representation and the dreamiest setting (hello paradise), I think you’ll love this one! I listened to the audiobook and the narration was perfect, would highly recommend the audiobook if you are planning to pick this one up! Thank you to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the ALC copy!

Nisha J. Tuli's romcom debut is so fun!

The audio is a 10/10 and I definitely recommend listening to it! The narrator portrayed Tris perfectly. She really brought her to life, performing the varying aspects of Tris' personality in an authentic and believable way.

Wow this book was so much fun! I really enjoyed the plot and the character development throughout. We follow tris and Rafe fellow associates that are sent to a work retreat and are forced to share a room together while on a beautiful resort in Maui. Tension grows between the two as they are forced to work together and or against each other during group activities during the retreat and find there is more than tension that bonds them. This was excellent representation of some of my favorite tropes. This is closed proximity, workplace romance, enemies to lovers and one bed trope among others. I really how Tris navigated the struggles that she goes through as a female working in an Industry that is dominated by men. She is fierce and strong and stand up for her beliefs and that is exactly what I want from the FMC. Rafe is struggling with his own passions and dreams while having to please his father by working a job he doesn’t love. Overall they help one another truly see what they want and how to overcome their struggles. Their banter was on point and it was very enjoyable book. I really enjoyed the audiobook for this one and the spice was great too! If you enjoy a great rom com with great banter and a lot of spice you will really enjoy this book. I also really loved the authors note in the beginning of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette audio for the advance copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I LOVED this book!
It was so refreshing to see Nisha dive into a new genre and she did AMAZING! Please continue to do more contemporary romance! The audiobook was outstanding! The narrator brought these characters to life and I enjoyed the story so much.

Trishara and Rafe were the cutest, and the only one bed trope was everything! I loved the representation of women working in the corporate setting and showing how it really is like that (the discrimination) and Trishara standing up for herself was such a badass move.

Rafe was the sweetest also! He made me melt!

Thank you so much for the ALC!

Enemies to lovers, workplace romance, forced proximity. YES PLEASE! Trishara and Rafe are co -workers and sworn enemies. Trishara is the hard working woman in a male dominated field and Rafe is the bosses son who is handed the promotion that Trishara knew she deserved. When they find themselves being chosen to go on a 3 week retreat to represent the company Trishara plans to stay as far away from Rafe as she can but when they get to the resort, you guessed it. There is only one room with one bed and a couch. Trishara starts to notice that maybe Rafe isn't the jerk she believed he was. The banter in this story is fantastic and I found myself giggling out loud more than once. I normally do not love a single narrator but Soneela Nankani did an amazing job and I didn't even miss the male voice, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This was my first book by this author, and had no idea what to expect, but I absolutely adored this book. The banter between the two main characters was very enjoyable and really showed the chemistry between them.

Tris was such a strong and perfect main character that didn't take anything from anyone, no matter what. As a female in a predominantly male field (and as a woman of color), she goes through a lot of discrimination. And the ending, when she had enough, was just the best and made me proud of her. She's been through a lot and found it hard to trust, and Rafe was so patient with her.

Now for the negatives. Rafe did get on my nerves the entire book with him leading his ex on and not shutting her down when he should have. Rafe was also pretty one-dimensional. There was a lot of mention of his looks, but we didn't really dive deeper into his personality or past so it was hard to care about him. Also, had to take off some points because of the constant mentioning of Rafe's type of smile that he was giving her (which was also repetitive).

Thank you to Nisha J. Tuli, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for the eARC and audioARC of this book. This is my honest review.

As the title states, this book was Not Safe for Work--so it's a good thing I listened to it at home. (She says as if she has an actual job to go to...lol.)

Trishara and Rafe have been workplace nemeses from the beginning, and now not only are both of them attending the same three-week corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii, but due to a booking error, they're having to share a hotel suite. With only one bed. Naturally. Trishara is a female engineer in a field dominated by men, powered by nepotism and white male privilege. She knows she's only at the retreat to make the company look like it believes in diversity, but she's determined to make the most out of the opportunity anyway. The problem with being in such close quarters with Rafe is that she starts to get to know him--and what she learns makes her rethink her opinion of him. They start to talk and share and connect, and before long, they're connecting in all different kinds of (NSFW) ways.

The audiobook was so well done. Soneela Nankani delivers a wonderful performance and carries this single narrator audiobook with aplomb. If you love books that showcase strong women in STEM who also like to be snuggly and soft with the right person, then Not Safe for Work is one you should add to your TBR.

Thanks to Hachette Audio for my ALC.

I exclusively listened to the audiobook version of NOT SAFE FOR WORK, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Soneela Nankani does an excellent job narrating, especially with the male voice of Rafe. Sometimes gendered voice acting can feel jarring, but that wasn’t the case here at all.

That said, I do wish the story had been told from a dual point of view. Getting only Trishara’s perspective left me wanting more insight into Rafe’s thoughts and motivations, particularly when it came to how he handled the situation with his ex. His choices didn’t always land well for me, and I think a peek into his head might’ve helped me empathize more. Still, I was glad to see Trishara hold her ground and make him work to earn back her trust.

Another highlight was how the book tackled workplace toxicity. I was relieved by Trishara's decisions at the end of the book, as there were some deeply rooted systemic issues.

While I haven’t read Tuli’s Romantasy series yet, TRIAL OF THE SUN QUEEN is high on my TBR. Overall, NOT SAFE FOR WORK is a fun and steamy read with a great setting and satisfying chemistry; perfect for this time of year!

Many thanks to Hachette Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

4/5 ⭐
3/5 🌶️

🌟 Corporate Workplace Romance
(in Hawaii!!!)
🌟 Enemies to Lovers
(the best kind)
🌟 One Room/One Bed
(come on, we can all admit we go feral for this)
🌟 Minority & Feminism Representation
(Indian FMC in a white male dominated workplace)

This book was done so well.

Our FMC Trishara is an Indian Engineer working for this big Engineering firm. Her employment has felt stagnant for a while, she keeps getting overlooked for special projects and promotions. While across the hall is Rafe, the son of one of the big top white men in the company, who gets every promotion and opportunity handed to him. She harbors resentment towards him, he apparently doesn't like her much either.

It comes as no surprise to Trish that when two spaces open up for a retreat opportunity in Hawaii, Rafe is chosen. The surprise comes shortly thereafter when her name is the other one called.

The rest is too good to lay out for y'all! The push and pull between the two during their retreat, the tension, the delicious slow burn, then when that tension breaks. Y'ALL!

Not to mention, the way Trish handles the condescending, patronizing, and dismissive misogyny is done SO SO WELL. Standing ovation for Trishara Malik!!!

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'm going to suggest you listen to or read this one ASAP.

Trishara swore off romance, especially in the workplace, years ago. She’s often the lone woman in the room in a male dominated industry, but that doesn’t stop her from knowing she deserves more. Even so, nobody is more surprised than Trish when she learns she has won one of two spots on a corporate training event in Hawaii. Three weeks in paradise is just what she needs - even if she will be attending the event alongside Rafe, head of the office nepo babies and her workplace nemesis.

Not Safe for Work was such a fun romance. There are so many tropes here and I loved them all. Oh, there’s only one room at the hotel and it’s the honeymoon suite? There’s only ONE bed?! Sold. It’s clear early on that Rafe is so incredibly down bad for Trishara and I ate it up. He’s immediately protective of her, doesn’t hide when she wants him to open up, and is such a big supporter of her. Trishara was such a funny and likeable FMC. She’s strong, badass and not afraid to be herself. She was patient with Rafe, especially when it came to his ex-girlfriend and family problems. There are instances where both MCs need support from one another and I love how freely care is given, even though they were still in the “enemies” part of the story.

🎧 The audiobook was narrated by Soneela Nankani and I thought she did such a great job bringing life to the story. I felt she really captured the characters well, especially Trishara, and I never had difficulty distinguishing between the characters as I listened.

Read if you like:
*Workplace rivals
*Forced proximity/only one bed
*Women in STEM
*He falls first
*Henleys and gray sweatpants 😉

Thank you to Hachette Audio & Forever for a review copy. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future!

I don’t have too many specific complaints — it just didn’t fully work for me.

The story felt a bit slow and didn’t really manage to hold my attention. It’s one of those books that’s fine for passing the time or listening to while doing chores, but it lacked the kind of pull that keeps me truly engaged. Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve finished it if I had been reading a physical copy.

The narration and overall audiobook production, however, were excellent and definitely the highlight for me.

All in all, I can’t fully recommend it, but it’s not a bad choice for background listening.

If you liked The Hating Game by Sally Thorne then you will most likely love this book. It goes a little deeper into the rivals to lovers trope, and does it in a really well done way. Sometimes you don't think that they are actually rivals (almost enemies), but it is obvious that the FMC really dislikes the MMC because of the practices of ignoring women at their company (and he is the son of the owner, so obviously he has to be the same as his father right?).

But when they end up being picked to go together to a resort in Hawaii for a 3 week work retreat, they end up getting to know each other and learning that they both want their company to change and start to raise up the women who work within the company. Also whoever booked their accommodations must not have realized that they were rivals because they are sharing a suite, with only one bed. UH OH!

It is a really well done book where both the main characters end up growing over the course of the retreat and learning things about themselves and also to not settle in a job or relationship.

The narrator was also a great addition to this book. I was able to get an advanced listener copy and I really enjoyed that way that Soneela Nankani represented the FMC. It was very well done and would recommend giving it a listen!
