I had such a great time with this audiobook! The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life, and the story itself was so warm and enjoyable. I connected with the FMC more than I expected—having worked in environments where I was one of the few women, I really understood how that can weigh on a person. I appreciated not just her growth, but also the growth of her love interests throughout the story. Overall, it was a very cute, feel-good read, and I’m excited to see what else this author has in store!

Thanks to Netgalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC! <3

While the FMC was initially someone I did not like due to her being very bratty, I ended up enjoying her as she progressed. The MMC was great from the start and I liked this rivals to lovers story.

Thank you to Net Galley and Hachette Audio for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book from this author, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed how lighthearted the story was, despite some of the characters' occasional immaturity—it made for a fun and entertaining read. The tension and banter between the main characters were excellent, and I found myself rooting for them from the start.

Trishara’s journey was compelling, and I loved watching her story unfold. Throughout the book, she heals from a toxic past relationship, fights against unfair treatment in her workplace, and finds love with a kind-hearted man. Her struggles in a male-dominated industry felt incredibly real, and her resilience was inspiring. As someone who appreciates books featuring women in STEM, this was a refreshing addition.

The dynamic between Trishara and Rafe was captivating. Their rivalry, fuelled by witty banter, made for an engaging slow-burn romance. The forced-proximity setup during a company retreat added just the right amount of tension, making their chemistry undeniable. Rafe was a fantastic counterpart to Trishara—supportive, protective, and kind.

Beyond the romance, I appreciated how the book tackled real workplace issues such as sexism and racism without feeling overly heavy-handed. Trishara’s struggles felt authentic, and her friendships added warmth to the narrative. I also related deeply to her experience with migraines and the uncertainty that comes with them. Seeing a protagonist navigate that struggle was both validating and refreshing.

There were moments in the story that made me incredibly angry on Trishara’s behalf, which speaks volumes about Nisha’s writing—she makes you feel every injustice Trishara faces. The author’s note at the beginning of the book sets the tone, highlighting how these micro and macro aggressions occur daily. The fact that Trishara had to work twice as hard for half as much made her journey all the more impactful.

As for the audiobook production, I was thoroughly impressed. The narrator, Soneela Nankani, did a phenomenal job bringing the story to life. Her delivery enhanced the emotional depth of the characters, making the listening experience immersive and enjoyable. Her ability to portray both male and female characters flawlessly made this audiobook a delight, and I’m certain her narration played a significant role in me finishing it in one sitting.

Overall, this was an engaging and meaningful read, blending romance, workplace dynamics, and social commentary beautifully. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by this author.

I mean, rivals to lovers, forced proximity and fake honeymoon? Sign me in! I really enjoyed this book. It’s funny and fast paced and I really devour it in a few hours.
Tris and Rafe are wonderful characters and I really appreciate the way this book talk about white men privilege.
The narrator is astonishing and I want her to read my life, no joking!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

Loved this audiobook!

Thank you netgalley for this beautiful masterpiece! Perfect little workplace romance on a work trip!

I wished the spice heated up earlier (starts at 70%) but apart from that, loved it!! Beautiful bi-racial story too!!

I blasted through this audiobook almost as quickly as I originally read the eARC haha. It still hit really good the second time around. Tris and Rafe's banter is top notch, and I really noticed the emphasis on the forearms with the audiobook (iykyk).
This is my first time listening to this narrator's work but I really loved her sass and attitude portraying Tris's character! Her "male" voice isn't too bothersome either.
NSFW still an amazing 5 star, even on audiobook too.
Thank you Hachette Audio for the ALC!

Thank you to Hachette Audio for the advance listener copy of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli.

Tris is an engineer who has worked for WMC for years when her promotion goes to the boss’s son, and her nemesis, Rafe. Tris gets selected to attend WMC’s corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii for three weeks. The opportunity may also help her get a spot in the company’s executive training program. What Tris doesn’t expect is to spend three weeks as Rafe’s roommate when it turns out there’s only one room left!

I was obsessed with this story when I read it as an eARC and I'm as obsessed listening to the audiobook! This book is my first book by Nisha J. Tuli and I loved it!! I love the main character, Tris. The romance made me melt and Tris’s workplace storyline was so engaging. The conclusion was done so well. And Rafe! I loved these two together. The tension and chemistry was perfect for these two and I loved when they finally give into their feelings.

Soneela Nankani once again does a stellar job with the narration of this story! There were a few memorable moments for me that Soneela narrated perfectly and even more moments stuck with me after listening to Soneela’s depiction.

If you love rivals-to-lovers, workplace, forced proximity, there’s only one room/bed tropes, this is a book to check out!

Trishara is an engineer that is being all too familiar with setbacks at work. She was recently passed over for a promotion by her workplace nemesis and the son of the boss, Rafe. Things are looking up when she is picked alongside Rafe to go to a company leadership retreat in Maui. She has her suspicions that she was picked to fulfill a diversity quota but is determined to make her company see what an asset she is. When they arrive at the hotel Tris and Rafe find they have been placed in the same suite and with the hotel being fully booked have no choice but to stay together. As the retreat progresses Tris soon learns there may be more to Rafe than meets the eye but she is still unsure if he can be completely trusted.

This book was a delight. This workplace antagonist to lovers slow burn romance really worked for me. The yearning, the angst, the tension! And once they really went for it wonderfully steamy. Tris is probably one of my favorite FMCs from a romance book in quite a while. She is smart and determined. She has great friendships to lean on so the man is not her only focus. The book deals with a lot of serious topics too in a really natural and believable way. The story did not rely too heavily on miscommunication. There were a few moments but Tris and Rafe had actual conversations with each other to resolve them. This book is well paced and the story moves along quickly. This was my first Nisha J. Tuli book but I look forward to reading more. Soneela Nankani did great with the audiobook narration. Highly recommend going with the audio version of the book.

I think that NSFW is the Nisha J. Tuli's first rom com, and it was really good! Think Christina Lauren's Unhoneymooners series, but with a workplace romance. Things I loved in this were the diverse characters, island setting (with one bed), and humor. I didn't like that the OW played a role in the story for so long and made me think that the MMC was too immature to handle business, and while I appreciate his wholesomeness, I'd prefer a man in my romances. Still, this is a great book to grab for a day at the pool or the beach! I look forward to more rom coms from this author!

I flew through this audio! The narration was 5 stars. She brought Tris to life.

This is a fantastic summer, work place romance between two office rivals. I loved the inclusion of issues that woman face working in male dominated spaces. This needs more light and was done so well here.

The pacing was good. The banter was excellent. I loved this.

A steamy work trip romance that expertly tackles heavier themes within corporate settings concerning sexism and the glass ceiling.

Disclaimer: I read this book as an audiobook via NetGalley and Hachette Audio. All opinions are my own. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Not Safe for Work is narrated by Soneela Nankani and runs 10 hours and 35 minutes long. I enjoyed this audiobook narration. I typically listen to my audiobooks between 2× to 2.5x times speed and I was able to comfortably read this book within that speed range. The tempo and narration was clear and concise. I enjoyed the audiobook narrators portrayal of the numerous characters within the novel. None of the changes in tone or voice between characters felt/sounded awkward.

In this novel we follow Trishara, an engineer who's unhappy with her current workplace. She's gone stagnant and been passed up for many promotions. She has a sneaking suspicion it's due to her status as not only a person of color at work, but a woman as well. She shocked when her boss names her to go on a three week workplace leadership retreat to Hawaii. Even though she suspects it's to check a diversity quota, she agrees to go and dismayed to find that her rival in the workplace, Rafe is also going. Of course he is, he's the bosses son. But the more time she spends with Ray out in Hawaii the more she realizes that he may just be as unhappy as she is. Will they bond over their shared dismay of the direction their lives are taking or will she end up drowning him out in Hawaii?

I really enjoyed the way that this novel balanced a steamy contemporary romance with some real hard hitting issues like a glass ceilings in corporate America. Trishara did a really good job of showing a powerful woman with a lot of confidence in a workplace where she is not appreciated. I really love the way she took multiple opportunities to advocate for herself. Even though it was clear, she faced some massive hurdles in her professional life. She did a lot of that with grace and confidence.

I really liked the chemistry and tension that built up between Trishara and Rafe. It was an absolute slow burn that built up from rivals to lovers. Add in that one bed trope and I could not help but kick my heels and giggle. There were numerous laugh out loud scenes and I loved how throughout everything Trishara continue to advocate for herself. The book was light on descriptive spice, but I really feel the main point of this book was the sexual buildup and tension with the slow burn and not necessarily focused on a detailed payoff. That being said, I was satisfied with the sex scenes that occurred within the book. They gave just enough to capitalize on that sexual tension while keeping it easy for a wide range of spice readers to enjoy.

This book also did an excellent job of representing anxiety due to inclement weather as well as migraine representation. Our main character suffered from a trauma that was weather related in her younger years that bled into her adulthood and was very anxiety inducing. In addition to the anxiety, the main character also had a issue with migraines that she was open about and it was very normalized for her to discuss medicating for her medical needs. I thought that both of those topics were handled well and just showcase even more of the confidence of our main character. Rafe was very accepting and understanding of her issues surrounding anxiety and migraines, and I loved how absolutely normalized it was for the FMC to admit she was struggling and for the MMC to comfort her in that aspect without trying to offer any kind of solution or "cure".

The storyline and plot flowed very organically and kept me entertained throughout the entirety of the book. I do wish we had had a few more interactions with the side characters as I thought some of them very interesting and hope that there might be some subsequent books that feature these characters so that we can get to know them better. There was a few downtimes during the book that my mind started to wander, but they were definitely not long or frequent and I was able to stay engaged for most of the story.

I cannot wait for the next release by this amazing author.

I love a rom com that touches on real life issues. This one touches on racism and sexism in the work place.

Our FMC is a woman of color working in a male dominated field. She ends up on a work trip with her crush/enemy. What could possibly go wrong?

I really enjoyed this story. I love the personal growth from our FMC. I received an audio copy and the narration was done really well. Super easy to follow at an increased speed.

Not Safe for Work was a fun listen full of witty banter & steamy tropes in this workplace rivals-to-lovers romance. Trishara is a motivated engineer fighting against the patriarchy and slowly losing the drive to continue climbing the ladder as she’s faced with sexism, racial micro-aggressions & losing out on promotions due to nepotism. It’s infuriating to read the very real things she’s dealing with and she throws it all in when picked to attend a corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii. She’s quick to call out why she was picked (filling their quota to bring a woman of color) and makes sure to ask for all the perks she can if she’s going to attend. The only thing? She can’t seem to stop running into her workplace rival, Rafe, the boss’s son that she’s secretly lusted after while simultaneously loathing. When they arrive at the resort they discover there’s been a mixup and they’ve been booked in the honeymoon suite… together 👀

This book had its great moments and I’m glad I listened to it. Trishara had satisfying scenes where she stood up for herself against her toxic workplace. I had a hard time with the lines she crossed (unnecessary eavesdropping on Rafe) & didn’t find Rafe to be all that dimensional outside of being the hot love interest who doesn’t want to follow in his fathers footsteps. Some of the spice was on point, but there were 🌶️ scenes that fell flat for me. I also personally can’t vibe with this narrator. Soneela is why I ended up DNFing the 2nd book of the Artefacts of Ouranos series… the whiny pitch she has when her characters are facing problems is too much for me.

I judged this book by the title. That was enough to spark my interest. Alright, I also judged it by the cover, which is also hot. Basically I couldn't wait to read Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli (a new author to me)!

Tris is a brilliant engineer in a male-dominated field. She's experienced some effed-up-shiz over the years (including a total douche of an ex who violated her trust and privacy bad enough to scar), and she is thisclose to being completely fed up and leaving. She's been passed over for promotions she was clearly the best candidate for and glossed over time and time again. So when her name was called to go to a professional development retreat in Hawai'i, she almost couldn't believe it. When it became clear she was just a diversity pick, she decided to make a few extra demands of the company's money. What she couldn't wiggle out of is who else is going on the three-week retreat: Rafe Gallagher, the boss' son and her personal nemesis.

Let's start with the good stuff. I found Tris to be such a refreshing character. She is smart and spunky in a sassier way than what I typically find. I was proud of her multiple times in this story for speaking up for herself and not taking less when she deserves more. Rafe is such a sweetheart. He always had his heart in the right place and was so easy to root for. Such a cinnamon roll! Also all the tropey stuff you expect in a book like this was done well and I was locked into the story all the way through. Plenty of swoony moments!

Then there were a few things that got under my skin: I put Tris' sass under the good category, but she really took it too far on multiple occasions. Even as she was saying something she'd be thinking 'why did I say that, why am I ruining this moment?'. Maybe if it only happened once that would be okay, but it was multiple times, which brings me to the next flaw in this story...there is way too much repetition! Work retreats can obviously be a lot of the same stuff, but man I couldn't have picked out one night among the others with all the same people there, the same arc of chemistry then sass then a ruined moment capped by having to go back to the same suite (*raises eyebrows suggestively*). It was too repetitive to ignore how repetitive it was, if you get what I mean. Aaand, if I'm going to list those things, I might as well throw in the fact that I didn't feel Rafe's feelings for Tris were quite justified enough for the depth of them once they're discovered. Professional admiration only takes you so far, as does general hotness. I was left wanting more on that front.

Obviously with a rating from me of 4 stars the bad was nowhere near outweighing the good, and I absolutely recommend this book for romance lovers. This would be an awesome read poolside or on a beach somewhere. It just didn't quite reach my stratospheric 5 star criteria.

Note:: I received an early copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a fun listen. The narrator did a great job. Slow burn and so super sweet. As a women in a predominantly male corporate job, this resignated hard with me. I had the exact moment the MFC towards the end of the book. And it made me cheer for her. Would definitely recommend this one.

thank you to netgalley and hachette audio for providing me with an ARC audiobook! i enjoyed this book! very classic contemporary romance with tropes on tropes! enemies to lovers, workplace romance, hotel room with one bed. rafe is sooooo boyfriend! i loved being able to listen to this book unfold. this book also tackles the struggle for diversity and inclusion in the workplace on top of the romantic plot. the narrator was a delight to listen to as well! can’t wait to hear what everyone else thinks once it’s released.

I really enjoyed this book and the narrator was perfect for the story too. The main character was super relatable. I love workplace rivals to lovers. The fact that they were on a work trip to Hawaii made it even better. It was definitely a fun, steamy read with a bit of humor thrown in. I appreciated how the book balanced the romance with the workplace drama. My only slight issue was that I felt some of the plot points were a bit predictable, but it didn't take away from the overall enjoyment. Overall an entertaining read. I was laughing one minute and hating most males the next.

first time Listening to a book by Nisha, so this was a new author to me since I began reading/Listening to Romance Books!

Thanks to Netgalley and Hatchet Audio I was able to listen to this audiobook before release.

One Of my favorite tropes, since I began reading romance since I began reading romance became Enemies to Lovers and Forced Proximity, which I know is many people as well! And this book was just that and it was perfect! Even their names are so unique and perfect for this Book, Trishara and Rafe. Workplace Enemies are sometimes off for me because it is usually due to jealousy or just being a Woman or Man kinda difference. And even though this does have to do with her being a Woman in the stuffy workplace, it wasn't in that sense for them. Just with all other suits in that business. So I am glad, she was able to change their thinking in some sort of way and it was perfect! Plus getting her happily ever after worked! Kinda need a part 2, please!

This vacation, work place, rivals to lovers romance was so good!! It was single POV and I loved the FMC. She is processing some past relationship trauma. She is trying to break through the glass ceiling at her workplace. She is at that place in her life where she is questioning whether she should stay where she is at or move on and start new. It was super relatable.

LOVED the MMC. Their relationship arc was great. The tension and banter was 🤌🏼 All in all this was just a very entertaining read and super sexy! Great standalone rom-com with depth.

I was lucky to get gifted the audio ARC from Hatchet audio via NetGalley. It was a single narrator, Soneela Nankani. She was really good! I also listened to the audiobook for Nisha’s series The Artefacts of Quaranos and she was the same narrator for that. Sometimes her inflection doesn’t fit the dialog, in my opinion. But I like her male voice and that is hard to get right! I really enjoyed this audiobook!

What to expect:
- rivals to lovers
- work retreat island vibes
- dirty talking MMC
- strong, smart FMC
