I love a boss girl FMC who works in STEM; this book did not disappoint! I could feel my blood boiling at some points in this book, listening to how the men in her field treated her.

Great pacing. There were no times in the book when I lost interest or felt my mind wandering to the mile-long to-do list that I ignored to read this book. I'm a sucker for the #onlyonebed troupe and Nisha let that bed buuuurrrn.

4.5 Stars. It would have been 5 stars for me if the Hannah situationship had been dissolved a little earlier in the book....

Steamy rivals to lovers work-place romance between two engineers on a leadership retreat in Hawaii! And of course, they accidentally end up stuck in the same suite with only one bed...

Not Safe for Work follows Trishara, a jaded engineer who once believed she would do great things as a woman of color in a male dominated field, but has been passed up for many promotions over the years in liu of the the bosses far too attractive son Rafe. When they're both picked to attend a leadership retreat, she figures out it's because the firm is facing criticism for a lack of diversity. *shocker*

This starts out as a very physical attraction first sort of thing, but eventually it gets deeper emotionally as the week goes on. Trishara is fed up and makes a lot of very reckless decisions, which was sometimes stressful as a reader! But it's a romance and things ultimately work out. I liked the representation of a woman of color in a STEM field and how it shows the misogyny, racism, and sometimes sexual harassment that can be experienced by women in these fields. I think a lot of people would enjoy it! The audio narration is good and you definitely get a sense of the main characters personality. I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

had a great time reading this. The banter was so good between the two characters. I loved seeing Trishara come into her own and really stand up for herself. I won’t lie, I wanted to kick some oomph into Rafe a time or two but he got there eventually. Overall fabulous read!

Nisha J Tuli knows how to write a rom com! This book was so fun and FUNNY! The main character Trishara had to deal with a lot but the way she handled everything was amazing. The love story was also so fun to watch h grow throughout the book. You got to see the realization between the two and it was so heartwarming! I love the work rivals to lovers trope and this one was done perfectly! The tension the entire book had me screaming! Overall, this was a great read and made me laugh and smile!

Not Safe for Work was an excellent book and great to listen to on audio. The single narrator kept me invested the whole time and pulled me into the story early on.

Trishara was a very intelligent strong female lead that had to deal with nepotism and other corporate politics at her company. When she was shocked she was selected for the corporate retreat she was going to use it to her advantage. Then a booking error led to sharing a room with her nemesis coworker Rafe. The banter and slow burn that ensue kept me glued to this audio book.

I'd absolutely recommend and am interested in reading more by this author .

I did not know Nish J Tuli (author of the Artefacts of Ouranos series) wrote a spicy romance! And this was a good one! It's perfect for a quick summer read as it takes place in Hawaii!

So right off the bat, the cover is really cute hehe and i'm a sucker for a cute cover! And the tropes?
-Forced proximity
-Woman in STEM
-One bed
-Rivals to lovers

But I am not here for one of the major plots that kept re-occurring...:
-unresolved previous relationship / annoying ex

Besides that...I thought there was a great balance between the personal/work drama the FMC was facing and romance with the MMC. Again, I got annoyed with the whole annoying ex thing, but I get it. Take that part of the book out; I think it would've been perfect. The MMC is so caring, and I loved how he always comforted the FMC when she needed it.

Thank you NetGalley, Forever Publishing for my ARC and Hachette Audio for my ALC of this title!

Tropes: Boss’s son; interracial; workplace enemies to lovers; close proximity
Triggers (always subjective): Racism. Sexism. Bigotry. Nude photos being leaked by an ex.
I thought this was a cute book. Fairly good banter. Lots of sexual tension. Love, romance, tropical get away 🙌 the FMC, Tris being a biracial women getting through all the adversities she has faced in a male dominated work field, she is almost to the point of burnout when she is picked for a three week leadership retreat to compete for the executive training program. Problem? She is up against her work rival and the boss’ son Rafe.
This slow burn builds when the two are booked in the honeymoon suite at the resort, but to Tris’ knowledge Rafe has a girlfriend and she keeps calling him nonstop.

Engineer Trishara Malik once dreamed of being the first woman of color to smash the glass ceiling at WMC Purcell, but after years of dealing with white male privilege and blatant nepotism, she watches her hard-earned promotion go to her nemesis, Rafe Gallagher—the boss’s son. Teetering on the edge of burnout, Tris is stunned when she’s picked to attend WMC's corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii. It’s a chance to revive her stalled career and compete for a coveted spot in an executive training program—plus, three weeks in paradise! The only downside? Rafe is her co-attendee.Tris plans to avoid Rafe entirely, but when she arrives in Maui, a booking error has them stuck sharing the honeymoon suite.
This short story has rivals to lovers, forced proximity, one bed, women in STEM tropes.
I really loved and devoured the book! I loved the story, the characters! And it was absolute delight to listen to! I loved the couple's dynamic, even the miscommunication has not irritated me. I even liked it!
Narrator Soneela Nankani did a great job! I enjoyed the audiobook!

Nothing gets me more excited to listen to an audiobook than a romcom featuring workplace rivals. "𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤" centers around Engineer Trishara Malik, who reluctantly attends a work retreat with her boss's son, Rafe. Despite the animosity between them, they find themselves sharing a room and slowly getting to know each other. The gradual development of their relationship is a satisfying slow burn. The author also did a wonderful job tackling the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated workplace.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 icing on the cake was Soneela Nankani's impeccable narration, with seamless transitions between voices and characters. Her male voices are my absolute favorite, making it easy to get lost in a story with her performance.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 fans of the rivals-to-lovers trope, this audiobook is a great listen. Thank you to Hachette Audio for providing the audiobook. All thoughts expressed here are entirely my own.

I love a workplace romance and there were definitely fun moments in this book but it didn’t completely work for me. I felt a little crazy being trapped inside Trishara’s POV for this entire book because she was so hot and cold on the MMC. I found her assumptions and actions towards Rafe throughout the book to be quite juvenile. The narrator of the audiobook was a bit too theatrical for my taste which really made Trishara feel very young and dramatic. There were also a lot of cliché tropes in this one that feel so overdone.
That being said, I did love the representation of women in the work force competing against men who have worked half as hard as the women in their peer groups!

Thank you to Forever, Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ALC and ARC of this book <3

I was initially drawn to this book by the stunning cover! Once I started reading, I was immediately hooked. The narrator was so captivating and I loved everything about this romance. Enemies to lovers usually isn't my favorite (usually the reasons for being enemies are silly or immature for grown adults) but the premise and the main female character, Tishara's perspective was absolutely valid. I loved how the story unfolded over the course of her work retreat with Rafe. Both main characters had so many layers of depth to them, and seeing them grow to be honest with themselves and vulnerable with each other was a beautiful thing. This romance was steamyyy (without being cringey- not an easy feat!). And the representation in this book is awesome! Hooray for women in STEM, and especially bipoc women totally kicking butt in male-dominated fields. Tishara is a great example of a strong female lead and it was so great to see her character grow even more confident and aware of her self-worth as the story progressed. Thank you Netgalley for this ALC!

This story has everything I’m looking for when I’m reaching for a romance. We’ve got enemies to lovers, forced proximity and fun banter between our leads from the start. I was kicking my feet throughout and even caught myself blushing or gasping more than once.

My physical reactions were heightened because I chose the audiobook for this one. Typically I’m not great at following along when just listening, but the narrator made it super easy for me. Not only was I able to follow along, I couldn’t stop listening! I didn’t even mind her “male voices” that can so often turn me off an audiobook. Her delivery of the story was dynamic and compelling throughout, making it easy for my ears to stay engaged with the story.

I’ll definitely be seeking out more books by Nisha J. Tulli and audiobooks narrated by Soneela Nankami.

This was a fast-paced, slow burn romance filled with workplace drama and witty banter. One of the highlights for me was how the story tackled gender roles in careers… it added a thoughtful layer that I appreciated.

However, I struggled to fully connect with the characters. They (especially the FMC) came across as a bit immature and lacked emotional depth, which made it hard to become truly invested in her journey. The MMC’s personality was lacking, also — I felt like his physical attractiveness was harped on too much.

The story had definite The Hating Game by Sally Thorne vibes so if you’re a fan of that dynamic, this might be right up your alley. For me, it was an entertaining read but not one that stuck with me.

4.5 stars, rounded up to 5. Not Safe for Work is the perfect summer read - a spicy and sassy romcom with plenty of forced proximity and tension between work rivals. Trishara is a woman in STEM who is constantly fighting to climb the ladder, against the current of white male privilege and nepotism in her workplace. She is wildly intelligent but finds her career to be stagnant despite devoting 5 years of her life to her company. She then finds out that she is being sent to a company retreat for 3 weeks in Hawaii. The catch? She ends up being paired up with her workplace nemesis - Rafe Gallagher - a tall, broody, and extremely attractive man who happens to be the son of the owner of the company. Even better - they end up forced to share a room together. Even better than that? There’s only one bed. Wherever could this lead us? 😇

Trish is my favorite kind of FMC - intelligent and driven, yet friendly and kind, with a sassy mouth who isn’t afraid to bite back. And Rafe is, of course, misunderstood and is actually a sweet, sweet man under the surface. It’s clear that they have been attracted to each other for years, but neither of them have ever had the courage to act on anything. We then end up with the perfect set up - 3 weeks on an island together with perfectly orchestrated forced proximity. The only one bed trope gets me every time and this was no different. The tension between these two could have been cut with a knife and I was SO here for it. Rafe is cool, calm, and collected on the surface. But underneath it all, he is down BAD for Trish and has been for a while. His sketchbook??? I died. His filthy mouth??? I was unwell. I don’t fault Trish for folding immediately any time he would look her way.

I also loved that Trish and Rafe bonded over their unhappiness in their jobs and it felt like they both helped each other so much in getting the courage to take a leap and make some really big changes in both of their lives, respectively.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:
For this being narrated by a solo voice actor, I was shocked at how little I noticed the fact that there was no male narrator to voice Rafe’s parts. Sometimes, audio can be difficult when it feels like a female narrator is unable to simulate a realistic man’s voice, and vice versa. But I truly did not have that problem with this audio and thought it was done SO well. I really felt like the narrator portrayed both main characters so well (but especially Trish’s character). I would absolutely listen to more of Soneela Nankani’s work in the future.

SPOILERS BELOW:

My two biggest gripes with this book were based on the miscommunication between the two main characters. It was so obvious that Trish and Rafe were obsessed with each other. Admittedly, I was frustrated by the fact that Rafe kept entertaining his ex Hannah with the way he kept answering her dozens of calls while he was on this trip. He could have easily stood his ground and set a firm boundary with Hannah and told her to leave him alone. And conversely, I was also annoyed by the fact that Trish couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Rafe and Hannah were broken up despite him saying time and time again that he didn’t want to be with Hannah, and the fact that he very plainly and directly said that he wanted to be with Trish. She let her insecurities make decisions for her on multiple occasions which in turn lead to a mini 3rd act break up that would have been totally avoidable had he just set a firm boundary and she put her foot down and talked to Rafe about how she was feeling.

Despite all of this, I absolutely LOVED the way that Trish stood up for herself and send the mass email to the entire company, dragging all of the higher ups who wronged her. I was cheering so hard for her with this and it was the perfect resolution to her work conflicts. I felt so proud when she got her new job and started climbing the ranks almost instantly. And the resolution between Rafe and Trish was so cute and wholesome, I absolutely ate it up.

Nisha is one of my favorite writers! She truly never misses. The banter between Tris and Rafe chefs kiss! The one bed trope found its way in here and ugh I loved every bit of it!!!!! I was kicking and screaming my way through this book with laughs too of course. The ending was perfection and had my mouth watering for delicious desserts too!

The narrator for this book was phenomenal! Her tone matched perfect to how I say SUCH similar phrases to myself- it felt so relatable. I do feel like, especially in the beginning, the FMC goes on a bit more than necessary about the toxicity of her workplace and the sexism/discrimination that occurs- however I do feel like I may just be used to experiencing it and could be jaded? Regardless, the are we flirting/do you hate me was a perfect balance, and I loved the overall flow & plot of this book. This is my honest, unfiltered opinion, thank you to the author and Forever Publishing for granting me access to an advance listener copy of this book!

I absolutely flew through this book.
I loved it so much. Such a great contemporary romance!
Definitely had Ali Hazelwood vibes which I LOVED
I loved the lightness of it mixed with the serious topics and struggles that women face in the workplace. I love a well done Only one bed trope and this was devineeee. The audiobook itself was also done extremely well! I find it's either hit or miss with contemporary romance audiobooks but I genuinely enjoyed this one!
Thank you so much to @netgalley and the publishers for giving me the chance to get an ARC of this Audiobook!

Summary: Trishara has dreamed for the last five years of being the first woman of color to break through the glass ceiling at WMC Purcell. But she has been passed over so many times for promotions and raises she is losing hope and interest in the company. She is overjoyed to find out she has been selected for a corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii. The only problem is that her nemesis and son of the boss, Rafe is also going on said retreat. Her goal is to stay as far away from him as possible until they discover there is only one room booked for them for the entire 3 weeks. But as their time on the island continues, Trish starts to wonder if Rafe is the villain in her story after all, or has he always been in her corner?

Dani's Thoughts: I fell in love with Nisha's writing in her Artefacts of Ouranos series and I could not wait for her jump into contemporary romance. I enjoyed this story because Trish and Rafe had the best banter, sizzling tension, and a beautiful story from enemies to lovers. Trish's demands of her boss after being picked for the retreat were hilarious and set up her road to deciding what was best for her life. I love the friends she made while at the retreat because they had each other's back from day 1. It was fun watching Trish and Rafe begin to understand each other in a new light and how Rafe was always there when she needed him most.

And finally, Hannah take a hike!!!

🎧The audio was fantastic. Soneela Nankani did a wonderful job bringing this book to life for me. I highly suggest listening to the audiobook for this one!

Not Safe for Work is a delight of a rivals/enemies to lovers romance. When Trishara Malik is chosen for her engineering firm's corporate leadership training program, she is gobsmacked, mostly because the firm has a history of completely ignoring women and POCs and was just passed over for a promotion in favor of one of the owners' sons, Rafe Gallagher. Unfortunately, she finds herself going to the leadership program in Maui with Rafe, and even MORE unfortunately when a mistake leads them to have to share a suite for the entirety of the three week program.

This is my first time reading Nisha J. Tuli's writing and I will absolutely be back for more. Seeing how down bad Rafe is for Tris was just delightful, and I appreciated that they each had their own growth arcs in different ways within the story. Reading through their individual journeys - even though it's told from Tris' perspective - was really wonderful and just added more to the overall romance. To top of it off - I empathized hard with Tris' experiences of misogyny in the workplace as a fellow woman in STEM.

Hats off as well to the incredible Narrator, Soneela Nankani, who really brought Tris and Rafe to life as well as the delightful side characters like Tris' best friend, Molly. I listened to the book and definitely recommend it as an alternative to reading with your eyes!

Thanks so much to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

I really liked all the representation and the more serious topics. I found it a little lusty at the beginning of the slow burn but when they got to the love part it was extremely cute.
