Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Hachette Audio for an arc of this audiobook. I enjoyed this so much. This was my first book by this author and I couldn’t get enough. I really enjoyed the characters, the story and the chemistry. Such a fun story but with some real life issues in there as well dealing with equality in the workplace. Will definitely be recommending and checking out some more of her books. Also really enjoyed the narration of the audiobook.

Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli was a great light read while still managing to address and bring light to some serious issues in the workplace for minorities. You could tell the author had personal experience in scenarios like the main character and wove that into the story seamlessly. I was especially impressed with the narrator who did a wonderful job. I usually prefer to listen to audiobooks with duel narration, but I hardly noticed this was only narrated by one person. This was my first book of Nisha J. Tuli's, but I am looking forward to reading her other books, and recommending Not Safe for Work to patrons at my library.

Not Safe for Work was so yummy and the perfect kick my feet and giggle that I needed!

Nisha, this book was everything I needed in the moment I needed it and I cannot wait for the world to meet Rafe and Tris.

This contemporary romance is packed with the tropes we love to see:
Workplace romance
Banter
He falls first
Migraine Rep (this girl has never felt soooo seen!!)

and yessss NSFW... holy spice - yes, please!

The audio is narrated in a solo narration style by Soneela Nankani and her voice acting talent is so amazing. This is my first exposure to her as a narrator. The story is told in first person point of view by the FMC, Tris.

This book?? Gave me everything I crave in a workplace romance. Snarky banter, slow-burn tension, and then BOOM we’re at a resort and things get spicy. The chemistry? Unreal. The dialogue? Sharp and addictive. And the audiobook narrator? Nailed the tone. Flirty, biting, emotional, all of it. I will say, it wasn’t perfect. I could’ve used a bit more character depth outside the romance. But the romance itself? SO satisfying I literally didn’t care half the time.

After years of being black-listed by a previous employer and being passed over for multiple promotions, Tris reads her invite to her company’s leadership retreat for what it really is. A performative stunt to make it seem like her employer is all about diversity, equality and inclusivity. She'll play the game if it could ultimately earn her a spot in an executive training program working next to one of her heroes, but she’ll have to compete against her biggest rival and office enemy #1, Rafe Gallagher.

Readers who enjoy the following will eat this book right up:

This was my first ever book from Natasha J. Tuli and my first ever listen from Soneela Nankani and it did not disappointment! I loved the woman in STEM and BIPOC representation the most in this book and Soneela Nankani’s narration is perfection! Hearing Soneela read THAT email had me cheering out loud as she read everyone to absolute filth!! I laughed so much throughout this book and I can’t wait to have my physical copy I pre-ordered in my hands so that I can go back and highlight my favorite scenes!

Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC!

Trishara and Rafe, two rival engineers with serious enemies-to-lovers tension, are forced to share a room for three weeks on a work trip. What follows is a slow unraveling of assumptions, witty banter, and unexpected vulnerability. The misunderstandings between them start to clear, revealing that maybe the “hate” wasn’t hate after all.

I laughed out loud multiple times—Nisha J. Tuli nails the humor without undercutting the emotional depth. The spice? Just the right amount, and perfectly timed with the emotional climax. And that bold resignation at the end? Chef’s kiss. Total mic drop.

I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing! The narration really brought the characters to life and made me feel like I truly understood Trishara’s inner voice and emotions.

If you love workplace rom-coms, forced proximity, and a satisfying emotional payoff—add this to your TBR!

Thank you @NetGalley for the early copy!

Not Safe for Work strikes a good balance between rom-com energy and an insightful commentary on corporate inequality. The pacing was spot-on, and the chemistry between Trishara and Rafe kept me intrigued from start to finish. Watching these two workplace rivals clash—and eventually come together—while forced to share a honeymoon suite on a company retreat in Hawaii was a lot of fun!

I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook, and Soneela Nankani's narration was amazing. She brought the characters to life in a way that made every bit of sarcasm and simmering tension pop. Truly, her performance made the experience feel like I was watching a rom-com unfold.

As for the plot, it’s a fast-paced, fun read with a classic forced proximity trope—two corporate enemies, trapped in Hawaii together. But beyond funny bits the romantic parts, what really sold this for me was how layered the story felt. Trishara's struggle in a corporate environment that consistently rewards privilege over merit was deeply relatable.

The tension between the two main characters was palpable, yet entertaining at the same time, and the humor never overshadowed the deeper themes. If you're a fan of workplace dynamics with a side of tropical heat, this one is definitely worth your time.

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ARC.

Soneela Nankani is such a spectacular narrator l, I first came across her as the narrator for Nisha Sharma's If Shakespeare was an Auntie series (loved those, the audio was so good!). She is one of those narrator that keeps your attention, well paced, and yet still a comforting voice. Perfect casting for this book. Hope to see (hear) Soneela on more books!

Thank you HachetteAudio for this ALC, all thoughts are my own.

Not Safe for Work was a fun, steamy summer rivals-to-lovers rom-com. I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of the audiobook, and I thoroughly enjoyed soaking up the summery vibes as we follow FMC Trishara on her work trip to Maui.

As someone who has not worked in the corporate field, I cannot personally attest to how realistic the portrayal of the corporate workplace is. I did really appreciate the author's emphasis on the prevalence of casual misogyny in the workplace and the intersectionality between misogyny and racism. There is also an emphasis on female friendship and comradery. Trishara's female friendships are mutually supportive and while Trishara is not a huge fan of Rafe's ex-girlfriend, she never goes out of her way to put other women down.

The banter between the two is top-notch - it's the delicious sort of tension where they can't stand each other but they are also obsessed with each other. This tension is compounded by the fact that they are forced to share a hotel room where *gasp* there's only one bed.

It's definitely got some classic rom-com liberties taken. There were some scenes that felt as though the characters were acting a bit immature for their ages, especially in a professional setting. The actual main scenario itself, as well as some of the conflict can also be a little cheesy. Personally, as an avid rom-com consumer, I am not terribly bothered by these aspects.

Narrator Soneela Nankani was a great addition to this book, her somewhat dry and witty yet engaging delivery and helped to flesh out Trishara's character. As an avid audiobook listener, sometimes I find myself taken out of a book when a single narrator does both male and female voices, but Nankani's male voices were well done and distinct. I didn't love the music included in the introduction and outro, but I don't care for music in audiobooks in general.

Trishara Malik is tired of the exclusionary corporate culture that caters to white men above all else. Regardless of qualification. Resigned to always be looked over while her workplace rival gains success, Tris has checked out on WMC Purcell. Until she was unexpectedly picked for a leadership retreat in Hawaii! The catch? Her workplace rival was also picked. Will they finally address all of this tension between them?

This romance book was addicting! I was a big fan of Trishara from the first chapter. Her disgruntlement over her coworkers and work culture reminded me of being in those male dominated spaces in engineering school. It’s so tough watching others not work as hard as you and be applauded for their success. She had such tenacity and strength. It was so admirable.

The romance in this book was full of tension and fire. There’s something so satisfying about when all of the tension finally comes to a head, and they realize they have read each other all wrong. I live for that moment! Nisha J. Tuli really makes you wait for them to finally get together, but the little moments along the way make it so worth it.

The audiobook was a wonderful way to experience this book. It was clear and easy to understand. The narrator brought to life all of Trishara’s frustration and exasperation. I could hear the eyerolls in the words spoken. The flirty banter was also well done. I could picture the teasing between Tris and Rafe so well. I highly recommend the audiobook!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ – Sizzling Chemistry and Sharp Banter in a Perfectly Spicy Rom-Com

Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli delivers everything you want in a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance with a workplace twist—and then some. Trishara (Tris) is a smart, fiery heroine who doesn’t back down, and Rafe is the brooding, annoyingly attractive counterpart who pushes all her buttons—in the best and worst ways. Their dynamic is electric, fueled by hilarious banter, undeniable tension, and the kind of forced proximity that turns sparks into a full-blown fire. I read it in one day—I simply couldn’t put it down.

Highly recommend for fans of sharp romantic tension and heat with heart!

Thank you NetGalley for this ALC! I really loved this book. It was a great listen, and the narrators were really enjoyable. I really loved the buildup and pacing of this story as well as the resolution. I really wish this was multiple POV because I would’ve loved the MMC’s POV!

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with a copy of this audiobook for an honest review!

I really enjoy listening to Soneela Nankani as a narrator! This is my second or third book I've listened to from her, and she does a great job expressing emotions and keeping distinctive voices for each character.

If you loved The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, then you'll probably love this book too. It's enemies-to-lovers, forbidden workplace romance, vacation romance, and he falls first. The characters love to fight with and push each other to be better. It's got lots of hate-to-love vibes if that's your thing.

I didn't love Trishara and Rafe as a couple. They don't communicate well and end up falling into bed instead of building their relationship. It feels rushed and left me questioning their maturity. This is more of a personal preference on my part! I'd still recommend this book to friends who like Christina Lauren, Tessa Bailey, or Sara Desai.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio/Forever for early access to the audiobook version of “Not Safe For Work” by Nisha J. Tuli. I had so much fun listening to this one! A perfect blend between workplace romance, only-one-bed, and enemies-to-lovers that had me chomping at the bit waiting for our two MCs to go at it! And don’t you worry, go at it they did! A steamy book that is full of moments facing the tough issues of a woman in a male-dominated industry and the hardship of building lasting trust in any relationship, I understood all of Tris’ motivations. Rafe, while a little bit of a dingus for timing with a fear of confrontation, is an amazing leading man. He was full of fun surprises and nuances that created many opportunities for each of the leads to lift each other up by supporting their passions. Soneela Nankani does a wonderful job narrating. I was engaged the entire time!

I went into this excited, expecting it to be a tension filled, enemies to lovers romance with an amazing FMC. Instead, I got two red flag adults acting like college kids with an allergy to acting mature. On top of that, there were no enemies to be seen in this book, both main characters were borderline obsessed with each other since chapter 1. This book made me physically cringe multiple times.
By the end, I wasn’t rooting for the couple, I was rooting for a plot twist where they both fall off a cliff and live happily ever after... in separate timelines.

Multiple times, I removed my headphones and just stared into space, reevaluating every decision that led me here. Thank the Lord I could listen to this on 2.75x speed, to finish this book faster.

I am so disappointed I didn't love this because I wanted to so badly.

Another romance that I feel could have been much shorter. Fun banter but I started to lose interest towards the endless just wanting it to wrap up.

I finished this in a day. Workplace rivals but set it in Hawaii? Yes please. This was one of those books where it was so clear to me (the audience) that Tris and Rafe were meant to be and I was mentally shouting for them to get together already! Plus only one bed and I was hooked. The audiobook was excellent! Definitely recommend!!

First, a big thank you to NetGalley and Hatchette audio for the early copy of this audiobook.

I swear Nisha can write anything. I absolutely loved her Artefacts of Ouranos series and constantly recommend it to people. So I was very excited to see Nisha write a contemporary and loved how well she developed the characters.
Rafe and Tris were so fun to read and I loved the enemies to lovers and banter between these two. Also, one hotel room available, and only one bed?! Yes please.
The narrator was perfect in her delivery and it was an easy listen for sure. The only thing that would have been the icing on the cake was to have some duel narration. But overall it was an enjoyable quick read that I will also be recommending!
