4.5 🌟!!
Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the advanced listeners copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adored this book! The storyline was fantastic! Who doesn't love enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes separately so when combined it's perfection!!
The narration by Soneela Nankani was amazing! I truly got lost in the story and forgot at times it was only one narrator!
The banter was great and I loved watching their love story unfold. It is a slow burn, which is not usually my favorite, but I loved this one! This was my first by this author and certainly won't be my last!

Oooohh I really liked this! I listened to the audiobook and i thoroughly enjoyed my listening experience - I’m pretty sure this was the same person who narrated Nisha J. Tuli’s series (Artefacts of Ouranos).
I love a workplace rivals romance and I loved that it was set in Hawaii (so fun!). I loved the two main characters - their banter was so good and their chemistry was sizzling.
I also really liked that this story addressed some important topics surrounding gender and race.

I have read some of Nisha J. Tuli’s fantasy books, and she knocks her contemporary romance debut out of the park with NSFW! The author writes in the disclaimer that “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦.” While the book is fiction, Tuli’s lived experiences weave authenticity in to the story that makes it hard to put down.
In a genre focused heavily on common tropes and plot lines it can be hard to stand out, but NSFW is able to do so with its witty writing and ability to tackle serious themes in a romcom setting. I love how Trishara refuses to accept the status quo as “just the way things are” and fights back against those who treat her poorly as a woman and person of color working in a white male dominated world. And I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I will just say that Rafe is ∞/10. He is not who he first appears to be, and he has to fight against his father’s expectations of him. And while he likes things sweet in the kitchen, his mouth is dirty (IYKYK 🥵).
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲: workplace romance, forced proximity, only one bed, enemies to lovers, BIPOC women in STEM, combatting racism/sexism/nepotism, mental health/chronic illness rep, he draws her 🥹, slow burn to spicy

🎧 Narrator: Soneela Nankani
The narrator did an amazing job, I could not turn off the audio because I had to keep listening!
Thank you to Forever and Hachette Audio for providing me with copies of this book. This review is voluntary, and all opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks for this ARC/ALC! Soneela Nankani did an amazing narration of this book. I think her voice acting really made the story come alive and the banter/attitude made it ten times more enjoyable than eyeball reading! The story overall follows a spicy and swoony workplace romance. I loved the balance of the reality of women of color in a male dominated profession with the navigation of that relationship in office dynamics. Rafe the MMC also we get a glimpse of his actual passions and how they often don’t fit or match what the family business always wants and the pressures faced when trying to conform to societal pressure. I would have loved to explore that a little more as well! Overall a fantastic read and I would recommend picking up the audiobook if you are an audio reader!

This was so good! It had pretty common tropes with enemies to lovers and workplace rivals, but at the same time it didn’t feel like other books I had read before. I have never read anything by Nisha J Tuli, and now I am so excited to read her other books. I definitely hope we get more contemporary romance in the future.
Not Safe for Work was funny, sexy, interesting, serious at times and I loved it. I am a huge fan of a workplace romance, and especially one featuring women in STEM. I loved Tris and Rafe. They had excellent chemistry and there was just enough of a slow burn.
The audiobook was fantastic, and I was looking forward to every time I got to listen to it. The sarcasm came through so well!
Thanks NetGalley for the ALC.

This book was really great! It was so atmospheric and I really enjoyed the slow burn. It definitely felt like they had real conflict and handled it the way their characters would. I really enjoyed their chemistry and need to read more Nisha J Tuli!

Work rivals. Forced proximity. One bed. What more could you ask for in a romance?
Rafe and Tris have butted heads since Tris began her job at WMC five years ago. Despite their rivalry, Rafe is undeniably attractive and Tris can’t help but notice. Unfortunately, he’s also a nepobaby and Tris can’t get past how she has been passed over for every promotion including the one Rafe received last year. When Tris and Rafe are selected to go to a leadership conference in Hawaii for three weeks, Tris decides to take advantage of the situation and demand some extra perks. The perks, however, come with their own set of problems which includes the fact that she and Rafe are placed in the same suite for the entirety of the conference.
Tris is a headstrong woman who takes no crap. She goes after what she believes is hers and doesn’t let anyone treat her less than her worth. It took a past relationship for her to get to that point (a relationship that occurs prior to the book) and it is, frankly, a breath of fresh air. Too often a female lead has to learn her own worth throughout a book but Tris has already done the work. It does mean that she can be a bit brash and makes some questionable choices, but really, she’s worth it, right?
Rafe from the beginning of this book is such a stark contrast to who he is at the end. The author does a beautiful job of showing that he was actually the same guy throughout but as an introvert, he had much more hiding beneath the surface. He doesn’t like to rock the boat and one of the recurring issues for his relationship with Tris and its progression is a testament to that. He clearly just wants to be himself but expectations from those around him weigh him down. I wanted to be mad at how long it took him to tell those people to kick rocks but I also understand how difficult that can be for someone who has spent their entire life just trying to make everyone else happy.
I did find myself having to ignore some issues I had with how realistic some of this book was (three weeks, all expenses paid in Hawaii followed by a potential all expenses paid fellowship of sorts for a year if selected in NYC? For multiple people?). Overall, though, I devoured this book! I really enjoyed the relationship between Tris and Rafe. It was so obvious from the beginning that their mutual dislike was mostly a ruse to hide attraction rather than actual hatred which helped make their quick progression a bit more realistic for me, personally. Beyond that, I felt the author did a good job weaving in the struggles of women in tech, specifically programming as it is such a male-dominated field. Tris endured so much crap but rather than letting it go and trying to further her career, she faced it head on so that she could retain her dignity and hold her head high. Maybe the author went a bit overboard on the number of encounters Tris had with the icky bits of being a woman in a male-dominant field, but it culminated in such a satisfying F U at the end.
Soneela Nankani nailed the narration, as usual. I always enjoy listening to books that she’s reading because she has such a pleasant voice. 10/10, no notes.

If you’ve ever wanted to watch a burnout queen get stuck in a honeymoon suite with her corporate nemesis while battling for a promotion under the hot Hawaiian sun—congrats, this book is your chaos-filled dream.
Trishara is overqualified, underappreciated, and absolutely not here for Rafe, the boss’s annoyingly attractive son. But when a company retreat turns into a rom-com fever dream, sparks fly, sarcasm reigns, and boundaries? Never heard of them.
There’s solid banter, a touch of steam, and just enough emotional growth to keep it spicy—but also a few slow patches that felt like sitting through a mandatory team-building seminar led by a guy named Chad.
It’s entertaining, dramatic, and mildly ridiculous in the best way. Not groundbreaking, but it’ll scratch your “I hate you but also kiss me” itch.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much while listening to this audiobook. Oh my gosh, I loved it so much! The story itself had all of my favorite aspects: forced proximity, workplace rivals to lovers, a vacation setting — the story was SO fun and bursting with tension. And the audiobook was super well done. The narrator kept me engaged and I would definitely re-listen to it!

I have read 6 of Nisha J. Tuli's fantasy books, and I was so excited to receive an ARC of this romcom! This is the perfect easy read and definitely got me out of a bit of a contemporary romance slump. Also, the narrator captured Tris sooo well, she was such a sane FMC and loved how mature / level headed she sounded throughout (she also did a great job with Rafe ofc)!
Things I loved:
- Rafe & Tris <3
- Obsessed with how Tris was so supportive of Rafe's baking/sketching when he had so many people in his life tearing him down.
- Their love was so uncomplicated and not messy, I really hate the miscommunication trope so it was nice to see an author create conflict/drama in a mild & easy to forgive way
Two things I didn't love (which was the goal of the author lol):
- Andy: I think it's kind of fun when the FMC has a little chemistry with someone else so that they can compare it to the insane chemistry with the MMC, but didn't love how Andy was just kind of around and was being lead despite him being the WORST (it was clear Tris didn't like him after their first few interactions). But again gotta have that drama and show the broody alpha MMC somehow so...
- Hannah: She was barely in the book, but omg hated her in the few lines she had.
Lastly, for some reason the IG live grand gesture thing made me cringe. Personally, I wish the confession was more personal/private because it felt performative which was out of character for Rafe.
tropes:
- work place romance
- one room/bed
Thank you NetGalley & Hachette Audio for the ARC!

I will listen to any romance Soneela Nankani narrates. She truly is a masterclass at conveying emotion and captivating the listener. No notes, I will be purchasing this title to have as a go-to reliable listen.

Ok, this is an excellent workplace romance. It’s also set at a resort during a 3 week training. Trishara and Rafe end up in the same room. So add on some extra forced proximity.
I loved Trishara. Here professional progression is great. Seeing her rediscover her spark and recognize her worth. It was frustrating to see how she is treated as a woman in the field.
I loved seeing Trishara realize that the rivalry with Rafe has morphed into desire. And when they cross that line. Phew. The romance was slow. They inch towards each other getting to know each other more outside of work colleagues.
This was very engaging and very entertaining and I really enjoyed.
Thx Hachette Audio for the advanced listeners copy.

The rom com I needed! Ate it up in less than 24 hrs. Could not stopppp. The tension, the sass. The spice! Did I mention the spice? Nisha crafted the perfect workplace romance meets tropical getaway rom com- I recommend to fans of Emily Henry, Christina Lauren, Ali Hazelwood - yep! You must add this to your tbr!
I absolutely loved the audio narration too. It really brought the story to life, but you can’t go wrong reading either way! Five stars!

Well well well, look who just found a new auto-buy author.
Not Safe for Work was my first dip into the Nisha J. Tuli pool and now I live here. This book served everything I was hungry for: spice, sass, and some of the best “I hate you but I’d still die for you” energy I’ve read in a minute.
We’ve got rivals to lovers? Check.
Only one bed? Check and CHECK.
Slow burn romance that made me want to throw my Kindle across the room? CHECK!
Tris, our fabulous FMC, is a boss in heels. She is smart, confident, and not here for anyone’s nonsense. Rooting for Tris felt like second nature—like watching someone you admire finally get what they deserve.
Big thanks to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ALC. And to Nisha J. Tuli: ma’am, you have my attention.

4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed this romance a lot. I’ve read from Nisha J. Tuli before, but it was her fantasy romance genre. This crossover into full-on romance worked really well for this author. I struggled with some of Nisha's fantasy romance books enjoying the first one but never feeling particularly interested in continuing the series. The build-up of the romance was one of the best parts, though. I think contemporary romance works really well for this author, and if the hype around fantasy romance fizzles for some reason, she could easily have a solid footing in this other genre.
I really appreciated the bit of background about being a woman in an engineering field and being passed up for promotions in favor of men. My only complaint is that I wish there had been more about the work and the competition in that field. I really enjoyed the challenges present in the book and would have loved to see more of them. I also would have liked to see more yearning or tension between the two characters. The tension starts to fade in the last quarter when they transition into friends who are attracted to each other. At that point, the pace starts to slow down, and the story feels a bit drawn out.
That said, the overall pacing is still really great, and the characters are very lovable. I really loved Rafe the brooding, overprotective guy but he was also really kind and not too overbearing. He was self-aware and apologized when he came off a bit caveman-ish.
I experienced this book in audiobook format, and it worked really well. It’s well-produced, and although it’s a single narration, the narrator does an amazing job. She gives clear distinctions between characters and portrays the male character really well. I’m interested in looking up more books from this narrator because it was really well done, and she kept me engaged.
Overall, I was really happy with Nisha J. Tuli's move into the contemporary romance genre, and I really hope she continues to write more books in it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio | Forever for this advanced listener copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

This book... WOW, chefs kiss! Hats off to the chef!
Rafe has truly become my newest book boyfriend.
This story has just about everything I look for in a romcom and it's so... god I'm wishing I had more words that were better to use other than the following: amazing, funny, hard hitting, intelligent and overall addictive.
There isn't too much spice in this but when I reached the couple scenes that had it, it HIT JUST RIGHT! And that to me gives is just enough.
I can't give any other details because SPOILERS!!
But I did receive this as an advance listener copy from NetGalley and the narrators have gorgeous voices that fit the characters so well, they portrayed both Tris and Rafe perfectly and I have no negative feedback based on the audio production!
I hope everyone loves this book when it comes out!!

Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for a listen of Not Safe For Work and let me tell you, this was so funny!
It was a fun time. The drama was doing its thing!! I was giggling left and right. The yearning Trishara and Rafe have for each other was everything. The banter was delicious. I was smiling so much!!
I loveeddd the narration. The voice actress for Trish was perfect and did a very well done narrating Rafes voice too. I love when narrators put feeling in to their lines and I felt it throughout the whole book. I think it was the perfect match. loved it.
I DIED when I heard about his hobby. It was the cutest thing ever. The sexiest thing a man can do.
I also like how the book addresses themes that many women face in the workplace. I loved it when Trish defended herself to the very end.
Only thing I wasn’t loving was how Rafe kept stringing along the other girl. He should have told Trish straight up.
The ending was so good!! I love it when we get an update of the end of the story. Just makes it better to finish a standalone. The epilogue was what I needed.

Nisha J. Tuli has done it again! As a huge fan of her Trials of Ouranos series (truly one of my all-time favorite romantasy series—the world-building and imagery are next-level), I wasn’t sure what to expect from her jump into contemporary romance. But Not Safe for Work was SO much fun to read, even while addressing series issues for women in the workplace.
Nisha brings the same vivid, beautiful writing to this genre, with stunning attention to detail that makes every scene feel alive—whether it’s the sharp, laugh-out-loud banter or the simmering tension between the leads. The slow burn is perfectly paced, the chemistry electric, and the humor spot on. She’s proven she can masterfully shift between genres while keeping everything that makes her stories so compelling intact.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narration was fantastic—perfect pacing, great character delivery, and it really brought out all the wit and tension in the dialogue. The narrators captured the humor and emotion beautifully, making it an even more immersive experience!
This book is flirty, heartfelt, and completely addictive. If you love smart workplace romances with true depth, humor, and swoon-worthy moments, Not Safe for Work needs to be on your shelf ASAP! Another hit from an author who never misses!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the opportunity to listen to an early copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

Unfortunately I think I'm calling it at this point. I empathize with Tris' struggle as a woman of color in a male dominated field, and at the start of the story, though Tris felt incredibly unlikable I was giving her the benefit of the doubt, because the story needed to be set up to show her perspective, but as the story went on, it became clear that he holier-than-thou attitude was not strictly relegated to pervy men and nepo babies. She just has a bad personality, she thinks she's smarter, more beautiful and more deserving of things than everyone else in the room and it comes off in a way that's super unpalatable. This is meant to be a fluffy romance, but it felt downright preachy at times. Rafe seemed like he had some good qualities, but we never really got to see anything about that, Tris never once mentions anything good about him to this point besides how he looks.
Bold as it may be, this almost felt written by a man who's just learned about feminism, the female gaze, and the struggles women have in the workforce. It wasn't for me, and I'm not sure there is a specific demographic in my follow that I work recommend this to.
The narration on the book was great, the narrator captured the voice of the character well, unfortunately, I just didn't like the character at all, so it made it hard for me to like much about it.
