This book was genuinely phenomenal! The banter and angst between our two main characters was unmatched, and the enemies to lovers in a workplace romance could not have been better. There is so so so much I could say about this book, but I’ll keep it short for now.

As for the narrator, her inflection and the way she made each character come to life was great.

This was a great workplace rivals to lovers story!

I had so much fun reading about these characters, and having it all set on the backdrop of Hawaii made it all the better.

I really enjoyed Trishara as a character and how she stood up for herself and didn’t take anyone’s shit. Her confidence and strength was incredible. Rafe was a really fun character, and I enjoyed his arc. It was fun to see hints of him always having a thing for her sprinkled throughout the book.

Their relationship progressed nicely, and I liked that they had some big conversations before anything romantic happened.

I had a lot of fun with the audiobook and loved the narrator. She did an excellent job conveying the characters' emotions, and her inflections were nice to listen to.

Soneela does such a phenomenal job of capturing every mood and emotion of Tris and Rafe's journey. I loved it!

I read this partly on Audio and partly the e arc. Soneela Nakani is one of my favourite audiobook narrators and as per usual excellent narration.

Not Safe for Work is Nisha J. Tuli's debut in the Contemporary romance genre, and oh boy was it a solid release. I genuinely enjoyed the story, Trishara was an confident woman who dealt with a lot of Cooperate misogyny and to be honest as someone who also works in the cooperate world there was a lot I can relate too.

Now on to the romance with the CEO's son Rafe and this Enemies to Lovers tension he has with Tris. This romance had two of my favourite tropes. Forced Proximity and One Bed and the spicy was spicing. That being said the romance was slow burn and well paced which I love. I also enjoyed the side characters who were all women, and all women in business supporting one another which honestly we don't see enough it romance these days.

And lastly this has no 3AB! Instead it has we are both adults here, figure your shit out and then once you do then we can move forward. I've started to see this more in books and YES PLEASE! Keep it up!

So Suffice to say Nisha knocked out of the park with this one, and now I look forward to reading her romantasy. Also LOVE that she is Canadian, we need more genre focused Canadian Authors getting some love.

"Not Safe for Work" by Nisha J. Tuli was such an enjoyable surprise! I haven't read very many workplace romances, so I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect going in. However, what really stood out to me — and what made this story work so well — was that it didn’t feel like just a typical workplace romance. The addition of the vacation setting gave it a fresh, relaxed energy that made it feel different and much more dynamic than a standard office love story.

The workplace element added just the right amount of tension and professional stakes, but the vacation vibe opened up the story, giving the characters room to interact outside of their professional roles. It kept things from feeling too confined or repetitive, which can sometimes happen in workplace settings. I loved seeing the characters navigate their work challenges while also letting loose, having fun, and connecting in a more personal way.

The characters themselves were well-drawn and very likable. Their chemistry felt believable, and I found myself genuinely invested in their journey. They had just the right balance of fun banter, emotional depth, and personal growth. Even as someone relatively new to workplace romances, I felt the story struck a perfect tone — it was lighthearted without being shallow, and romantic without feeling overly predictable.

The audiobook version made the experience even better. The narration was engaging and really brought the characters and the setting to life. The narrator captured the humor, tension, and sweetness of the story so well that I found myself smiling often while listening. A great narrator can make all the difference, and this performance definitely elevated the material.

I gave this book four stars because, while I truly enjoyed it, there were a few small areas where I wished for just a little more — particularly some more development for the side characters. However, overall, it was a fantastic listen that kept me entertained from start to finish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli. Releasing May 20, 2025.

I ate this one up! Not only does it show the continual struggles of women, trying to climb the later, but it shows what happens when you break out of norms, and follow your dreams. The romance between Tris and Rafe was so adorable. I loved that they continued to support each other’s dreams, and were willing to throw away everything to make that happen. This booo made me laugh, swoon, and cheer on the characters!

This book contains tropes such as;
Enemies lovers
Workplace rivals
One hotel room/one bed
Vacation setting

The audiobook was the perfect way to consume this. The narrator was perfect. It was a sooo narration, but worked perfectly! Highly recommend!

I received an advanced listening copy of this audiobook for review. This is my own opinion.

First and foremost, this feels like OG Ali Hazelwood, but with a POC FMC (sorry for all the letters) and some blazing chemistry. This is very much like if you crossed The Hating Game with an Ali-verse book.

Tris is a burnt out engineer in a stagnant job, and when she gets sent on a THREE WEEK TROPICAL CORPORATE RETREAT/TRAINING TRIP??? (I would work there for that, even with the misogyny holy crap—okay probably not but I digress) with her Work Nemesis who also happens to be the son of her boss, there is, naturally, only one room and only one bed. The situation devolves from there into a lot of amusing situations and ton of “he’s so hot—oh no I forgot I hate him—but do I really?” Which honestly has the potential to be SO annoying but never really got to that point for me.

The chemistry between Tris and Rafe was off the charts even in their first scene, and it only ramped up from there. I really enjoyed this one! It’s like the perfect hot summer romance, especially if you like a slow burn because this was way slower than I expected because I fully expected a hate f*ck to get it out of their systems about 30% in.

Also, the second we met Rafe I suspected he was in love with Tris. And I won’t tell you what happens, but I LOVE that in these sorts of workplace romances.

Anyway, definitely recommend for beach/summer reading, or if you’re stuck at home and need a little spice in your life.

Thanks to Hachette Audio for the ALC! The narrator was also really good.

4.5/5

This. Book. Was. AMAZING! The angsty enemies to lovers slow burn story had me absolutely SWOONING!

Our FMC Trishara (Tris) is an engineer navigating her way in the typically male dominated career she's in. After being passed over for multiple promotions she was highly qualified for, she is approaching burnout and has lost her passion for her job. So imagine her surprise when she was selected as one of the two representatives for her Chicago office to attend a three week long leadership retreat in Hawaii!

Sounds great, right? Except that the other person coming on the retreat is her work nemesis, Rafe, the boss's son. Safe is gorgeous, successful, and got the job Tris applied for to lead their team at work. Ever since then, they have been full-on work enemies.

But when they both arrive in Hawaii, they realize that their office secretary booked them to share a room, and not just any room, the honeymoon suite! What ensues is a funny and very steamy slow burn that had me laughing l, and even in my feelings at some point.

This was an amazing read that was guided by the authors personal experience as a woman in the corporate world. The representation from that aspect alone makes this book well worth the read. Everything else is the umbrella in the fancy hawaiian cocktail!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

I had such a great time with this audiobook! The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life, and the story itself was so warm and enjoyable. I connected with the FMC more than I expected—having worked in environments where I was one of the few women, I really understood how that can weigh on a person. I appreciated not just her growth, but also the growth of her love interests throughout the story. Overall, it was a very cute, feel-good read, and I’m excited to see what else this author has in store!

Thanks to Netgalley and Hachette Audio for the ALC! <3

While the FMC was initially someone I did not like due to her being very bratty, I ended up enjoying her as she progressed. The MMC was great from the start and I liked this rivals to lovers story.

Thank you to Net Galley and Hachette Audio for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book from this author, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed how lighthearted the story was, despite some of the characters' occasional immaturity—it made for a fun and entertaining read. The tension and banter between the main characters were excellent, and I found myself rooting for them from the start.

Trishara’s journey was compelling, and I loved watching her story unfold. Throughout the book, she heals from a toxic past relationship, fights against unfair treatment in her workplace, and finds love with a kind-hearted man. Her struggles in a male-dominated industry felt incredibly real, and her resilience was inspiring. As someone who appreciates books featuring women in STEM, this was a refreshing addition.

The dynamic between Trishara and Rafe was captivating. Their rivalry, fuelled by witty banter, made for an engaging slow-burn romance. The forced-proximity setup during a company retreat added just the right amount of tension, making their chemistry undeniable. Rafe was a fantastic counterpart to Trishara—supportive, protective, and kind.

Beyond the romance, I appreciated how the book tackled real workplace issues such as sexism and racism without feeling overly heavy-handed. Trishara’s struggles felt authentic, and her friendships added warmth to the narrative. I also related deeply to her experience with migraines and the uncertainty that comes with them. Seeing a protagonist navigate that struggle was both validating and refreshing.

There were moments in the story that made me incredibly angry on Trishara’s behalf, which speaks volumes about Nisha’s writing—she makes you feel every injustice Trishara faces. The author’s note at the beginning of the book sets the tone, highlighting how these micro and macro aggressions occur daily. The fact that Trishara had to work twice as hard for half as much made her journey all the more impactful.

As for the audiobook production, I was thoroughly impressed. The narrator, Soneela Nankani, did a phenomenal job bringing the story to life. Her delivery enhanced the emotional depth of the characters, making the listening experience immersive and enjoyable. Her ability to portray both male and female characters flawlessly made this audiobook a delight, and I’m certain her narration played a significant role in me finishing it in one sitting.

Overall, this was an engaging and meaningful read, blending romance, workplace dynamics, and social commentary beautifully. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by this author.

I mean, rivals to lovers, forced proximity and fake honeymoon? Sign me in! I really enjoyed this book. It’s funny and fast paced and I really devour it in a few hours.
Tris and Rafe are wonderful characters and I really appreciate the way this book talk about white men privilege.
The narrator is astonishing and I want her to read my life, no joking!

Loved this audiobook!

Thank you netgalley for this beautiful masterpiece! Perfect little workplace romance on a work trip!

I wished the spice heated up earlier (starts at 70%) but apart from that, loved it!! Beautiful bi-racial story too!!

I blasted through this audiobook almost as quickly as I originally read the eARC haha. It still hit really good the second time around. Tris and Rafe's banter is top notch, and I really noticed the emphasis on the forearms with the audiobook (iykyk).
This is my first time listening to this narrator's work but I really loved her sass and attitude portraying Tris's character! Her "male" voice isn't too bothersome either.
NSFW still an amazing 5 star, even on audiobook too.

Thank you to Hachette Audio for the advance listener copy of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli.

Tris is an engineer who has worked for WMC for years when her promotion goes to the boss’s son, and her nemesis, Rafe. Tris gets selected to attend WMC’s corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii for three weeks. The opportunity may also help her get a spot in the company’s executive training program. What Tris doesn’t expect is to spend three weeks as Rafe’s roommate when it turns out there’s only one room left!

I was obsessed with this story when I read it as an eARC and I'm as obsessed listening to the audiobook! This book is my first book by Nisha J. Tuli and I loved it!! I love the main character, Tris. The romance made me melt and Tris’s workplace storyline was so engaging. The conclusion was done so well. And Rafe! I loved these two together. The tension and chemistry was perfect for these two and I loved when they finally give into their feelings.

Soneela Nankani once again does a stellar job with the narration of this story! There were a few memorable moments for me that Soneela narrated perfectly and even more moments stuck with me after listening to Soneela’s depiction.

If you love rivals-to-lovers, workplace, forced proximity, there’s only one room/bed tropes, this is a book to check out!

Trishara is an engineer that is being all too familiar with setbacks at work. She was recently passed over for a promotion by her workplace nemesis and the son of the boss, Rafe. Things are looking up when she is picked alongside Rafe to go to a company leadership retreat in Maui. She has her suspicions that she was picked to fulfill a diversity quota but is determined to make her company see what an asset she is. When they arrive at the hotel Tris and Rafe find they have been placed in the same suite and with the hotel being fully booked have no choice but to stay together. As the retreat progresses Tris soon learns there may be more to Rafe than meets the eye but she is still unsure if he can be completely trusted.

This book was a delight. This workplace antagonist to lovers slow burn romance really worked for me. The yearning, the angst, the tension! And once they really went for it wonderfully steamy. Tris is probably one of my favorite FMCs from a romance book in quite a while. She is smart and determined. She has great friendships to lean on so the man is not her only focus. The book deals with a lot of serious topics too in a really natural and believable way. The story did not rely too heavily on miscommunication. There were a few moments but Tris and Rafe had actual conversations with each other to resolve them. This book is well paced and the story moves along quickly. This was my first Nisha J. Tuli book but I look forward to reading more. Soneela Nankani did great with the audiobook narration. Highly recommend going with the audio version of the book.

I think that NSFW is the Nisha J. Tuli's first rom com, and it was really good! Think Christina Lauren's Unhoneymooners series, but with a workplace romance. Things I loved in this were the diverse characters, island setting (with one bed), and humor. I didn't like that the OW played a role in the story for so long and made me think that the MMC was too immature to handle business, and while I appreciate his wholesomeness, I'd prefer a man in my romances. Still, this is a great book to grab for a day at the pool or the beach! I look forward to more rom coms from this author!

I flew through this audio! The narration was 5 stars. She brought Tris to life.

This is a fantastic summer, work place romance between two office rivals. I loved the inclusion of issues that woman face working in male dominated spaces. This needs more light and was done so well here.

The pacing was good. The banter was excellent. I loved this.

A steamy work trip romance that expertly tackles heavier themes within corporate settings concerning sexism and the glass ceiling.

Disclaimer: I read this book as an audiobook via NetGalley and Hachette Audio. All opinions are my own. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Not Safe for Work is narrated by Soneela Nankani and runs 10 hours and 35 minutes long. I enjoyed this audiobook narration. I typically listen to my audiobooks between 2× to 2.5x times speed and I was able to comfortably read this book within that speed range. The tempo and narration was clear and concise. I enjoyed the audiobook narrators portrayal of the numerous characters within the novel. None of the changes in tone or voice between characters felt/sounded awkward.

In this novel we follow Trishara, an engineer who's unhappy with her current workplace. She's gone stagnant and been passed up for many promotions. She has a sneaking suspicion it's due to her status as not only a person of color at work, but a woman as well. She shocked when her boss names her to go on a three week workplace leadership retreat to Hawaii. Even though she suspects it's to check a diversity quota, she agrees to go and dismayed to find that her rival in the workplace, Rafe is also going. Of course he is, he's the bosses son. But the more time she spends with Ray out in Hawaii the more she realizes that he may just be as unhappy as she is. Will they bond over their shared dismay of the direction their lives are taking or will she end up drowning him out in Hawaii?

I really enjoyed the way that this novel balanced a steamy contemporary romance with some real hard hitting issues like a glass ceilings in corporate America. Trishara did a really good job of showing a powerful woman with a lot of confidence in a workplace where she is not appreciated. I really love the way she took multiple opportunities to advocate for herself. Even though it was clear, she faced some massive hurdles in her professional life. She did a lot of that with grace and confidence.

I really liked the chemistry and tension that built up between Trishara and Rafe. It was an absolute slow burn that built up from rivals to lovers. Add in that one bed trope and I could not help but kick my heels and giggle. There were numerous laugh out loud scenes and I loved how throughout everything Trishara continue to advocate for herself. The book was light on descriptive spice, but I really feel the main point of this book was the sexual buildup and tension with the slow burn and not necessarily focused on a detailed payoff. That being said, I was satisfied with the sex scenes that occurred within the book. They gave just enough to capitalize on that sexual tension while keeping it easy for a wide range of spice readers to enjoy.

This book also did an excellent job of representing anxiety due to inclement weather as well as migraine representation. Our main character suffered from a trauma that was weather related in her younger years that bled into her adulthood and was very anxiety inducing. In addition to the anxiety, the main character also had a issue with migraines that she was open about and it was very normalized for her to discuss medicating for her medical needs. I thought that both of those topics were handled well and just showcase even more of the confidence of our main character. Rafe was very accepting and understanding of her issues surrounding anxiety and migraines, and I loved how absolutely normalized it was for the FMC to admit she was struggling and for the MMC to comfort her in that aspect without trying to offer any kind of solution or "cure".

The storyline and plot flowed very organically and kept me entertained throughout the entirety of the book. I do wish we had had a few more interactions with the side characters as I thought some of them very interesting and hope that there might be some subsequent books that feature these characters so that we can get to know them better. There was a few downtimes during the book that my mind started to wander, but they were definitely not long or frequent and I was able to stay engaged for most of the story.

I cannot wait for the next release by this amazing author.
