The audio was perfect. I felt every emotion and was able to immerse myself into this short and beautiful story.

I loved the workplace rival relationship and the banter that came with it. The characters were hilarious and playful even in tense moments. There was a great balance of rivalry, seriousness, resilience, and romance. The romance was too notch! I loved watching the relationship blossom until our FMC and MMC eventually gave in.

This was a great rom-com read. I highly recommend to anyone who’s interested!

This was such a fun time! I read this in one sitting, it was a lighthearted read about two coworker rivals that are sent to Hawaii for a corporate convention getaway, where they are forced to stay in a hotel room, and acknowledge their attraction for each other. I mean, what a dream, a free all expenses paid trip to Hawaii with your ultra hot coworker?! ONE BED TROPE?!?!? Sign me up, please and thank you! Rafe is HOT, not just physically, but his possessiveness? yummy. His secret talent? HOT. I smiled through the entire book, and was absolutely satisfied with this read. I also appreciated that although the book was overall lighthearted, it does tackle some heavier topics, such as sexual harassment, microaggressions, and sexism in the workplace. The narrators did such a good job with embodying these characters, their early disdain for each other, and then the yearning and confused attraction that they both felt. The production of this audiobook was phenomenal, I felt like I was on a yacht in Hawaii with these characters! Thank you so much Nisha J. Tuli, Hachette Audio, and Netgalley for the advanced listeners copy of this audiobook to review!

This book. So so so good. I did struggle to get into this book because I felt like the FMC spent a lot of time reflecting on the MMC being very attractive but also kind of a jerk. The reflection on nepotism was also a bit drug out. I think these conversations were SO SO IMPORTANT, but in the audio, it felt a bit overwhelming. Once the characters found their way to the retreat, the story got great. I was invested in the drama in the work issues and in the romance. And the ending? No spoilers, but every man needs to declare their love that way.

The audio was well done and the narrator did a good job making the story so so engaging, I did listen at 1.75 speed, which affected my experience. I felt like the narrator read slowly, but it did not affect the sound quality.

Tris has spent 5 years as an engineer with WMC getting passed over for promotions, dealing with misogynistic coworkers, and fueding with Rafe, the spoiled and entitled son of their boss. When she and Rafe are both chosen to go on a 3-week corporate retreat in Hawaii, she's convinced she will simply avoid him as much as possible.

Upon arrive, that plan unravels when a booking error ends with her sharing the Honeymoon Suite (with only one bed, of course) with Rafe. Over the course of the retreat, she discovers that Rafe may not be quite as entitled and spoiled as she thought and must reevaluate whether their mutual hatred has always been so straightforward.

Not Safe for Work was a fun romance that also dealt with the serious issues women, and especially women of color, can face in male dominated fields. There was some genre-typical miscommunication and denial, but the relationship progression was satisfying and it felt like both Tris and Rafe grew a lot over the course of the retreat.

We only got Tris' POV, but the narrator did a great job bringing both characters to life and the listening experience was very fun!

If you like rivals/enemies to lovers and forced proximity, you will enjoy Not Safe for Work! Tris is a strong FMC, while Rafe, the MMC, left me wanting a bit more! The audio narration was 5/5, while I'd say the story itself is a 4/5. Overall it was an enjoyable, low-stakes romance, that makes for an easy summer read! Thank you to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the ALC!

How I read it: audiobook
Narrated by: Soneela Nankani

Themes: workplace romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, slow burn

Spice: enjoyable and graphic

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the opportunity to listen this ARC . I liked the narrator (Soneela Nankani) a lot. No complaints at all on the quality of the audiobook nor on the narrator. The story was enjoyable and different! Trishara Malik is an engineer and experiences sexism as well as racism in the workplace. She is very confident and I loved that about her character! The MMC Rafe has nepo privilege, but does his best to help others.

I gave this 4 stars because I did love it, but would not re-read it and/or buy it.

The audiobook was AMAZING!
I would love for the MMC to have his narrator, but his voice was still good.
I felt and understood a lot of what was happening to the FMC, and I would love to send that letter to at least one of the companies I have worked for.
I would love to read more form this author (soon, please)

I’m usually not a huge fan of workplace romances, but I ended up really enjoying this audiobook.
The rivals-to-lovers dynamic and the forced proximity tropes were both executed well and kept me hooked.
Felt a bit triggered by the misogyny portrayed in the workplace setting - it’s frustrating and disheartening that women still face this kind of treatment in the workplace! Overall, Not Safe For Work surprised me in a good way, worth a listen!

Okay, yes, this was definitely not safe for work... I could not stop smiling and blushing the whole time!!!!!

Usually I'm not a big fan of slow burn but enemies-to-lovers trope managed to salvage it for me and I loved every minute of it.

I loved the banter, the thick chemistry between MCs and just everything about this book.

I would have loved to see dual POVs but I can manage without it as well, as Trish did a good job on describing what's going on with her and also Rafe.

First, I want to say that this was a really cute read. I liked that it was slow burn and we really got to watch the characters grow and learn more about their lives. Unfortunately, I just dont feel like anything was memorable enough to say this is a favorite of mine. I did enjoy the narration and will recommend it for people looking for a cute read. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the audiobook to review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a palate cleanser contemporary romance that was enjoyable from start to finish. Our FMC Tris is a BIPOC engineer at a firm that has nothing but overlooked her at every turn. Rafe, a nepo hire, gets all the perks and accolades that Tris should be getting and the two have an ongoing rivalry that is coming to a head. The firm decides to host a competition sending two people to Hawaii for a chance to win a coveted spot in the firms engineering hierarchy. Surprisingly, Tris gets selected (because why would she at this point) and so does Rafe. That’s when the fun truly begins.

This novel has some pretty witty banter, one bed at the inn troupe, great minor characters that become your instant besties, and secrets coming to light. It’s fast paced (sometimes at break neck speed) and cute. And much loved body positivity and female empowerment.

The audio was good to listen to as a supplement. The narrator was hilarious with her banter and it felt like a natural experience.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for allowing me access to ALC in exchange for my honest review.

If you're looking for a smart, zippy rom-com that will keep you grinning from start to finish, you've found it! This book was an absolute blast and exactly what I needed. Thank you to @netgalley for the ARC & ALC. I definitely loved reading and listening to this story and the narrators do an EXCELLENT job bringing the characters to life.

The story drops us into the world of Trishara Malik, a brilliant engineer who's had it up to here with the corporate ladder. When her nemesis (and the boss's son), Rafe Gallagher, snags a promotion she was gunning for, she's ready to scream. But then, plot twist! They both end up at a corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii, and thanks to a booking error, they're stuck sharing the honeymoon suite. Cue the forced proximity, the sparks, and a whole lot of hilarious tension as they compete for a coveted executive training spot.

The pacing in this book was just fantastic. It moved along so nicely, always keeping me intrigued and flipping pages to see what Trishara and Rafe would get into next. And speaking of the characters, they were truly great. Rafe, in particular, was charming and definitely an “eleven” (IYKYK)!

Now, I will say, Trishara's constant reminders about the struggles of being a woman in the workforce did get a little tiring at times. Yes, we get it, it's tough out there, but I didn't need to be hit over the head with it every other chapter. It's a small gripe in an otherwise delightful read though!

But honestly, the fun far outweighed any minor quibbles. The banter was on point, the chemistry was undeniable, and the way everything unfolded was just so satisfying. And her "revenge" at the end? Chef's kiss! Absolutely loved it. I do not think I could ever be this brave.

If you're in the mood for a tropical getaway in book form with a healthy dose of romance, wit, and some truly memorable characters, pick this one up. You won't regret it!

Troupes: forced proximity, rivals to lovers, work romance, tropical getaway
Spice 3/5
Plot 4/5
Pace 4/5
Character Personality 4/5
Character Growth 5/5
Writing Style 5/5
World Building 5/5

I really liked the premise of the book, being a woman engineer myself and have been subjected or heard about some pretty sexist things. But I didn't really like the execution. First, the whole romance aspect fell flat for me. Trishara and Rafe’s relationship was incredibly messy and frustrating. There was never a satisfying resolution to any of their miscommunication or denial of feelings, and the back-and-forth dragged on for too long; it was one step forward, 10 back. It was way too reliant on the lust, and I never felt they actually liked each other. On top of that, the ex-girlfriend drama was the cherry on top, and it completely ruined the book for me.

Thank you Netgalley, author, and publisher for the ARC.

This book was perfect so cute and romantic. All for the stem girlies perfect for fans of Ali hazelwoods. I loved forced proximity of the resort setting giving you the white lotus feeling with out the murder! I just loved this Enemies to lovers story!

This was adorable! Nisha, please give us more contemporary romance! I loved the representation and also seeing a mmc with a softer side whose goal isn’t just to kill it in the corporate world. This book was a breath of fresh air.

This was my first audiobook and I am positively surprised.

It was a nice work romance, but with a different setting. Instead of an office or a building, the characters find themselves in a holiday resort as part of a program in Maui! However, as idyllic as it all sounds, Trishara Malik is not happy for several reasons. One, she was selected to fulfill a diversity quota, which, as a POC, felt quite insulting. Two, she doesn’t even like her job, she feels stuck in it, with no signs of promotions despite being one of the best engineers at WMC. And, three and most annoying of them all, she has to go with Rafe, son of one of the higher-ups at WMC and her nemesis. And, to top it off, they have to share a room (wink, wink). During the trip Tris starts discovering the true Rafe, someone who may not be the villain she had in her head. And, at the same time, she goes on a path of self-discovery after years of not knowing what her life is anymore.

So, apart from having only one bed, the other tropes we can find in this book are enemies to lovers, slowburn, forced proximity, and lots of banter.

Tris is a strong character. She’s bold, smart, and is not scared of standing up for herself, which I loved. I liked her a lot, even if sometimes I wanted to scream during some of her interactions with Rafe.

Rafe was a good character. He had depth and it was so cute how he liked Tris but didn’t say anything. He draws, bakes, and listens, so 10/10.

All in all, I give this book 4 stars out of 5.

Four stars! This was a cute workplace romance book! I liked this one audio and thought the narrator did a good job of portraying each character. The discrimination the FMC faced was sadly too real but it was hard to believe that the company would make her stay in the same hotel room as a male colleague. Still, I loved the chemistry between them and how strong the FMC came to be.

Wanna hate corporate America more? Read this book. It's all too real for women to be looked and passed over again and again for positions, leadership, and everything else. It doesn't seem to matter how hard you work or what kind of effort you put forth with some companies it's not going to get you anywhere. And then the idea of doing good and making a difference in the world is a whole other thing that feels so far from reach most of the time.

Rafe and Tris are cute. I felt like it was definitely slow burn for the majority of the book, but that may just be me lately. I enjoyed the banter, and once the spice hit it was very good.

I loved the character growth of Tris in particular as she chooses how to move forward. I definitely understood the struggle of the main characters and how trying to navigate what to do with your life especially in a professional setting can be so daunting and difficult, and that's without facing sexist, racist, and other obstacles.

I love Rafe's choices too though. Following your dreams and truly going for the ones that seem the most out of reach is so rare and remarkable, and creative dreams are the best!

Not Safe For Work is the ultimate Summer Romance book! The narrator was amazing and got you engaged in the story from the start. I loved this story. I loved how it addressed so many topics realistically and honestly. I love a good rivals-to-lovers, and this book delivered, while also discussing honestly what it is like to be a woman and a woman of color in a majority male environment. I loved the pacing and all the tropes (ONKY ONE BED!! ANGRY BANTER!! HE FELL AT FIRST LOOK). I will say both the main characters pissed me off with their miscommunication and not just talking, specifically Rafe's whole thing with his ex, pissed me off. But overall, it's a fun book that's perfect for kicking off the summer.
