Not Safe for Work: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nisha J Tuli created a classic workplace, enemies to lovers romance and it was good! We get everything we want from this kind of book:

-Enemies-to-lovers
-Forced proximity
-Workplace romance
-Slow burn
-One Bed

This was a great, cozy read and recommend to those looking for a quick read!

The narrator, Soneela Nankani, did such a wonderful job! She has a perfectly expressive voice and did multiple characters so well. Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Grand Central Publishing, and Hachette Audio for providing this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review. Pub Date: May 20, 2025.

Wanna hate corporate America more? Read this book. It's all too real for women to be looked and passed over again and again for positions, leadership, and everything else. It doesn't seem to matter how hard you work or what kind of effort you put forth with some companies it's not going to get you anywhere. And then the idea of doing good and making a difference in the world is a whole other thing that feels so far from reach most of the time.

Rafe and Tris are cute. I felt like it was definitely slow burn for the majority of the book, but that may just be me lately. I enjoyed the banter, and once the spice hit it was very good.

I loved the character growth of Tris in particular as she chooses how to move forward. I definitely understood the struggle of the main characters and how trying to navigate what to do with your life especially in a professional setting can be so daunting and difficult, and that's without facing sexist, racist, and other obstacles.

I love Rafe's choices too though. Following your dreams and truly going for the ones that seem the most out of reach is so rare and remarkable, and creative dreams are the best!

Not Safe For Work is the ultimate Summer Romance book! The narrator was amazing and got you engaged in the story from the start. I loved this story. I loved how it addressed so many topics realistically and honestly. I love a good rivals-to-lovers, and this book delivered, while also discussing honestly what it is like to be a woman and a woman of color in a majority male environment. I loved the pacing and all the tropes (ONKY ONE BED!! ANGRY BANTER!! HE FELL AT FIRST LOOK). I will say both the main characters pissed me off with their miscommunication and not just talking, specifically Rafe's whole thing with his ex, pissed me off. But overall, it's a fun book that's perfect for kicking off the summer.

Thank you Hachette Audio for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

I just loved Not Safe for Work. Soneela Nankani is one of my favorite narrators and did a fabulous job voicing Trishara. I loved so much of this book. The workplace enemies to lovers was so well done! Having to share a room with a colleague of the opposite sex would be a huge HR nightmare but worked well for the story and the chemistry between Trishara and Rafe. I liked how her perspective of him changed as their relationship developed. The resort setting and all of their leadership challenges were a lot of fun. I really liked the friendships Trishara developed. She seemed like a real girl’s girl.

My heart hurt for her several times as she dealt with workplace harassment and challenges for being a woman in her industry. I loved how it ended and how she decided not to settle for how she was treated anymore. I loved this enough that I needed to have a copy for my shelf!

Not Safe for Work is a sizzling, hilarious workplace rom-com that delivers everything you'd want in a vacation read. This is an enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity setup (they hate each other, but get stuck sharing a room for a work conference) packed with steam and the best kind of tension.

The banter and chemistry between the leads are top tier—sharp wit, laugh-out-loud quips, and truly hilarious shenanigans. The setting, a Hawaiian resort paradise, makes for a dreamy backdrop. The vibes? Immaculate.

While the romance leans more into steam than deep emotional connection, it still felt solid and satisfying. What really stood out was the thoughtful inclusion of women in STEM and the way more serious issues were tackled with care. No spoilers, but the FMC really nails it!
My only critique is that the pacing felt a little off at times, but overall, this was a fantastic read.

Special shoutout to narrator Soneela Nankani, who perfectly captured the FMC’s sass and inner dialogue—she made the audiobook an absolute treat to listen to!

This is the kind of audiobook that’s perfect for a beach vacation or whenever you’re in the mood for something fun, steamy, and full of heart.

Thank you to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the ALC! All opinions are my own.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy to review!

Okay, I ate this one up. It just checked off so many boxes for me:

-Rivals to lovers

-Sexual tension (although I wish it lastest longer)

-One bed trope done in an predictable, although hilarious way.

-Likeable main characters and a fun ensemble cast.

-The audiobook narrator was pretty good

-Tris and I can burn down the patriarchy together any day

I honestly had a lot of fun and will absolutely be picking up more books by the lovely Nisha J Tuli.

Raise your hand if the hating game is one of your favorite books 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ I love books with this vibe and so I knew NSFW was one I needed to read. Plus, look at this gorgeous cover 😍😍

Expect 👉🏼 Workplace Rivals, Rivals to Lovers, Hawaii Fling, He Falls First, He Protects Her, Strong FMC, Only One Bed, Forced Proximity

Trishara faces constant discrimination at work being passed over for promotions she rightly deserves while also having to deal with slimy colleagues making advances at her. So when she wins a work retreat for 3 weeks of training, she is rightly shocked. To add insult to injury, there is a scheduling mishap and she is stuck sharing a room with her archnemesis. Her very very attractive archnemesis—but the work rival who took her promotion, nonetheless.

So obviously Rafe is down bad and has been since the moment he met her but Trishara has no clue and I’m so HERE FOR IT! Trishara is absolutely lethal 😅 and Rafe is a bumbling fool at times but they’re great together and so so spicy. I love how KU h they evolve as they both realize their worth and how much they’ve fallen for one another.

The audio was well narrated by Soneela Nankani

Thank you forever for the #gifted alc!

I fully enjoyed listening to the audio of Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli. Had me cackling in my chair at 4am. The Main female character is so relatable! The beginning was an odd pace start a lot was happening the main female character was just as confused as I was. But after the mishap I was hoooked! Thank you for the opportunity to listen to an amazing audio book of nisha J tuli!!

Another book to add to my list of smart women in smart books that are hella sexy!

The representation of a woman in the business world was top notch. While Tris was never really a pushover, which we see early on, getting to see her truly come into believing in herself and standing up for herself by the end was fabulous.

As an anxious smart girly, I found Tris relatable in a lot of ways. I struggled with some of her unwillingness to approach relational things while banging it out and stressing over all the things, but it’s honestly probably more realistic than I want to admit.

I enjoyed Rafe’s character, it’s wonderful to see men who push back against the toxic masculinity we see in so many romance books. His individual traits that make up who he is despite the persona he wears in public were adorable

I really loved getting to see these two learn things about each other and clear up years long misunderstandings. I really wanted to give both of them big ol’ hugs.

The audiobook was wonderful! Soneela Nankani was excellent with all the characters persona’s and the pacing was great. Her portrayal brought the story to life and made it an enjoyable listen.

Not Safe for Work is a fun and steamy read, perfect for wishing you also were on a company paid retreat to Hawaii. Our characters are well rounded and feel like they could be real people, flaws and all. I was worried that there would be a big issue with miscommunication and jumping to conclusions as our plot unfolded, but I was pleasantly surprised by the way things went. We had relatable issues with an MMC with actual emotional intelligence and an FMC who uses her words even when she is assuming the worst. It feels like the bar is on the floor for avoiding cliche and terrible miscommunication in the last 20% of most romance books but Not Safe for Work really excels with keeping the reader immersed and the plot engaging.

This books premise was great and the audio actors were good. two work enemies had to share a room on a work trip? brilliant, genius love it.
unfortunately there was some other woman stuff which I absolutely hated and drove me mad the whole book

Loved this so much.
It was like the child of The Hating Game and The Unhoneymooners, but still had a completely unique identity. If you like those you’ll definitely enjoy Not Safe For Work

Trishara is a whip smart, capable and resilient heroine in the face of so many workplace prejudices.

Rafe countered Trish with effortless banter and amazing tension.

The audio was fantastic and Soneela Nankani is one of my fave narrators. Banter relies on delivery and she always nails it so perfectly. Highly recommend listening to the audio. I give this all the swoony banterific stars.

This book was fun. Kinda silly, pretty sexy, but as always, fell prey to the "if you would just communicate even a little bit, the problem would be solved" issue that plagues most romance novels. I liked Tish and that narrator was good, but I grew tired of the "why does this hot guy that I'm obsessed with being nice to me make my stomach swirl" antics. Overall, I did enjoy the story, but I'm growing weary of this type of plot device.

Rating: 2.5 ⭐️ (rounded down to 2)
Spice: 1.5-2🌶️

I had high hopes going into Not Safe for Work—the setup is rich with tropes I usually love: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and the classic one-bed situation. Add in a woman of color navigating the corporate boys’ club? Sign me up. But sadly, this one didn’t quite land for me.

While the banter between Tris and Rafe was enjoyable at first, the pacing really dragged. The one-bed moment, which should have been a highlight, fell flat. Honestly, for two characters supposedly in their 30s, their behavior often read like early-20s emotional immaturity—especially around conflict and communication. I did appreciate the exploration of Tris's challenges as a woman of color in a predominantly white corporate space—those moments had authenticity and heart.

I wish this had been written in dual POV, especially since the audio narration was strong and could have carried both voices well. Unfortunately, what could’ve been a sharp, tropey rom-com with depth turned into a bit of a slog for me.

Thank you to Forever and Hachette Audio for the ARC and ALC. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a pretty enjoyable read. If you've ever been a woman in the workplace, especially one with a lot of stem type functions you will probably resonate with at least some of the FMCs experiences. I love stories where you can just tell he is downed and she has nooooo idea. So cute. The narration was very well done and definitely enhanced the story for me.

Could not finish this. It really could have done with a male POV and I could tell it would have not rated higher than 3 stars for me

This one is for the corporate girlies. While this book is a bit unrealistic in the sense of your company sending you to Hawaii for three weeks for a corporate program is unlikely and there were numerous HR violations, I ate it all up. The rivals to lovers story is everything I didn’t know I needed. There was so much kicking of the feet and giggling as their story bloomed and the growth of the characters had me audibly cheering for them by the end

Thank you to NetGalley for an audio arc of this book

📖 This was a really cute story about two people finding what makes them happy in life. If you are into work place and slow burn, this is def the one for you!! I had a bit of a time getting into this, but around the 40% mark I was hooked. The banter and tension really started to take off and I knew I wanted to see where things went! As a woman in a male dominated field I can totally relate to Trishara and what she went through, but she has it worse being a BIPOC on top of being a woman. Rafe is such a sweetheart, but he did tick me off with those phone calls 😡

🎧 Soneela did a great job with this narration! She kept me engaged throughout and brought the characters to life!

Not Safe for Work by Nisha J. Tuli is a smart, witty romcom that totally won me over.

I loved Trishara’s fierce ambition and how real her frustrations felt dealing with workplace bias and nepotism — it made her journey so authentic.

The tropical setting of the corporate retreat added a fun, escapist vibe, and the forced proximity with her rival Rafe created plenty of sizzling tension and laugh-out-loud moments.

Rafe isn’t just a typical alpha male; his layers and unexpected kindness surprised me, making their slow burn all the more satisfying.

The balance between sharp workplace politics and the romantic comedy beats was perfectly done, keeping me engaged from start to finish.

If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers stories with heart, humour, and a strong female lead, this one’s a must-read. I couldn’t put it down!
